My dogs are my babies and I'm very particular about the care and treatment that they receive.My husband and I have been with Dr. Cannon for almost 30 years now.  We saw previous vets before  that time but he is by far the MOST CARING VET I have come across.  He has correctly diagnosed two of my dogs with serious issues.  If not for him, they might not be with us now.  When some of my other dogs passed away, the whole office was so compassionate. I'm sorry that a few reviews are negative but I always say you can't judge the wine until you taste it.  You're writing a negative review not because of malpractice or other significant issues but because you didn't get an appointment.  I'm sorry but in my opinion that doesn't seem to justify a negative review.  My husband and I now travel over 45 minutes just to have Dr. Cannon care for our dogs.  He is highly competent, caring, and professional.  You can't askfor anyone better! I've been taking my animal babies to Fairbanks Animal clinic for years now and there is an obvious difference between here and other places I've been. The doctors actually care not only about your babies but about keeping them healthy long-term. They also go to great lengths to see that they can deliver the best care at the best prices in town. I especially love the fact that I can stay with my fur babies the whole time unless of course they need an x-ray or something. Other veterinarians seem to always want to leave me alone in a room seemingly meant for the animals exam while they take my animals somewhere else, terrified.I can't tell you how blessed I feel to have found a doctor that actually does research and calls me later with their findings. It doesn't feel like a walk-in clinic type place but more of a full care facility. I wouldn't even dream of going anywhere else! Read Less

Wish I had the CHANCE to see how good of a doctor this animal hospital had.  My fiance and I have had the worse luck with vets in the Central Florida area, from veterinarians that don't know what the heck they're doing to bad customer service of the staff and overcharging.  So my friend that used to work for this doctor at Fairbanks Animal Hospital told me that Dr. Cannon was a great doctor who really cared about animals.  I was really excited and hopeful that I could get an appointment in as soon as possible when I called today because my dog's eye seems to be getting really bad (cloudy, squinting, some discharge)...but NOPE!  I was told that the animal hospital takes only referrals from existing clients... this is SUCH HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE and I'm appalled and frustrated at how ridiculous this is.  Doesn't anyone who wants the best for his/her pet deserve to take his/her pet to a good doctor?  I guess I couldn't get into the Country Club of Veterinary Clinics.  I never heard of such a thing even happening.   Just a suggestion:  You should/could tell new clients that because the Doctor is in high demand, that there is a long wait and you might not be able to get an appointment right away.  That's fine, that's fair, that's honest.  But you should NEVER EVER turn away a client who wants to do the best for their pet.If this clinic really cared about animals, you WOULDN'T TURN CARING PET OWNERS AWAY!!! My parents, brother's family, and I all take our dogs here. Dr. Meyer always takes the time to listen to questions and concerns and answers in full-I never feel rushed and I'm confident my dog is getting the best care.I don't know Dr. Cannon except in passing, but he taught my father how to give their sweet old 15 year old dog the infusions she needs for renal failure and has helped them help her enjoy her old age. Dr. Cannon and his staff have the three C's. Caring, compassionate and competent. They've been my pets vet for 10+ yrs. They've kept our cats and dogs healthy and helped us through some very difficult times. We've lost a few pets over the years to age and incurable diseases, they are always there with the three C's. Wow! Fairbanks Animal Hospital is unlike any animal hospital I have ever been to. Period. The staff is very loving and kind! The vets are fair and honest, and always wanting to go out of their way for my animals. Dr Cannon is such a kind soul, who cares for all animals! He treats my fur kiddos like anyone would want their children treated. (lucky dogs, indeed!) I love how he does not have inflated prices, nor does his staff nickel and dime clients. We need more Dr Cannons in the world!! Grateful that his practice is so close to home, too. To anyone not within a couple miles of this awesome man-- you should totally move. WOW! I was in major need of a vet--and some friends referred me to this clinic. I AM SO GRATEFUL. The staff is very kind and loving. And the vets, Dr Cannon and Dr Meyer are professional, honest, and do not try to up-charge you/nickel and dime you. They really love the animals -- this shows through in their exceptional service. obviously the unhappy customers are not judging their reviews on the spectacular care they received.  They are basing it on him trying to educate people about diet and environment which is IRRELEVANT to the care one receives as a pet owner.  His care is superior to all others in FL that I have been to.  All my relatives think he's amazing also.  If you care about your pet go to this hospital.  He gives pets special attention and great advice.  My cat was ill from stomatitis and this vet got him off steroids and onto a better course of treatment.  Thank you Dr. Cannon!  All my friends to to you and recommend you. There aren't enough stars here to rate Dr. Randall Cannon. I have five dogs, so obviously going to the vet is a more frequent occurrence for me than most people. I had been to several ""recommended"" vets in the area and always left feeling the doctor wasn't really concerned about my animal. I put out an email at the high school where I teach, asking for help. Dr. Cannon's name was WAY at the top of the list. I've been going to him for years now and he truly is the most knowledgeable, sensitive and caring vet I have ever met ( and I have had dogs all my life!) I would have lost a couple of my animals years ago if it weren't for him. This vet is a vegan because his love for animals is so strong. He also actively supports all sorts of animal organizations and causes. He treats your pet like he would treat his own. I am so grateful to have him as my vet --he is one in a million! Even when one of my dogs tried to snap at him, instead of losing his patience, he kept calmly talking to her as if it had never happened. I can't say enough good things about him. He truly does go above and beyond. Further, he doesn't suggest procedures that are not necessary. He is honest and his concern is about your pet, not his wallet. How many vets would call you (during AND after hours) to check on your pet? Dr. Cannon has a wonderful staff too - their dedication and love for animals is obvious too.
