I've been trying to find a great vet for my baby. He's been having some eye issues so I called Winter Spring Veterinary Clinic, today. I called and the girl that answered was very nice. They even had an appointment today! They took us back AT the start time of our appointment! I've NEVER been to ANY kind of doctor / vet that takes you back on time! After explaining what's going on to the vet tech, she told the vet then came in and sat on the floor, interacting with my dog. He loved all the lovin's. When Dr. Blackburn came in, she was very professional but also very kind. She checked Nux from head to toe. She listened to our worries. She made sure to thoroughly inspect him and to give us information, even on things that we didn't ask about, but things that definitely need checked out for my pup. She had a battle plan on how to get him better and she executed what she could from her end. I was so worried I'd walk out with a few hundred dollar bill, especially with everything she did. I was very impressed when I went to pay!I am definitely the kind of person that goes off of first impressions and boy was this an incredible first impression. My daughter and I took our dog here and they treated us like family. Our dog really doesn't care too much for people but he was very happy around these people. Great place. They have been with us through both good times and bad. We have had to put down 2 pets in the last year. Their compassion is very welcome at that time of stress. Dr. Blackburn is incredibly compassionate yet pulls no punches if your pet is really ill. She gives options available but understands that sometimes heroic measures. Not only wont work but are very expensive..  As others have mentioned, their prices are very reasonable and getting in to see one of the doctors is usually next day, if not same day. Thank you WSVC. Clean area, testing was very quick. Vet Dawn was amazing. She explained medication, prices, and treatment options with detail more than my own doctor would haha. I was a client years ago when Dr. Eans and Dr. Rogers owened this practice. I took my new kitten in today for his last shots and met Dr. Sims and his staff for the first time. They are awesome. Rocky, my kitten was nervous and made a mess in his carrier and they cleaned him up and the carrier at no extra charge. God led Rocky and I to Dr. Sims. Always a different Doctor working and today the Asian women was the doctor and constantly tried to sell me stuff and "recommend" things such as nail trimming, testing, etc. It gets quite annoying, you go in for one thing and walk out with more than expected. I don't even know where to start. The staff acted both disgusted and afraid of my dog.They didnt want to touch her. Instead of sticking out a hand to make friends, they slapped a muzzle on my poor girl...without warning or asking me. So after she was super freaked out (she has never been muzzled before), the vet shoved and then BROKE A Q TIP OFF IN HER EAR, causing her to cry out in pain. THEY MUZZLED HER, SHOVED A QTIP IN HER EAR, BROKE IT OFF, RECOMMENDED SURGERY, (other vets recommended steriods with surgery at half the cost), AND TOLD US SHE NEEDED ANTIBIOTICS. (we saw two vets afterwards, she did NOT need antibiotics)They then quoted a surgery TWO TIMES the price as surrounding area and wrote an rx that we didnt need. The last vet we just saw said that her ear is fine, so the 90 bucks we paid for antibiotics is a total waste. If we need antibiotics it is because they ruptured her ear drum. HORRIBLE. Read Less

I'm very pleased with all of our experiences with Winter Springs Vet Clinic. It's easy to make an appointment and the ancillary staff is friendly and welcoming of our two dogs. Also, we have seen three of the four veterinarians for office calls and they are all very good with our dogs as well as my husband and myself. We recently had our youngest puppy spayed here and Dr. Er called the next day to check-in with us and answer our post-operative questions. She seemed genuinely concerned about how our puppy was doing after the procedure. We have to drive a bit to get to the clinic, passing by at least three other vet clinics to get here (meaning an anxiety-ridden car ride for the pups), but we gladly make the drive to ensure that out dogs are well taken care of. I have been taking my 8 year old sheppard/great dane mix dog to this clinic for the past 2 years for severe skin issues, arthritic pain, weight gain, and constant lethargy. We spent hundreds upon hundreds of dollars to figure out what was wrong. We never got an actual diagnosis or answer as to what the problem was - just expensive, useless medication that did nothing. My husband and I were on the verge of euthanization as we saw no other options. We decided to get a second opinion. After seeing another vet for 5 minutes, and a simple blood test later, he was not only diagnosed with hypothyroidism, but treated - and is now back to his old self - happy as ever. I am very disappointed with the veterinarians in this clinic and would not, in my right mind, EVER RECOMMEND them to anyone. I cannot believe that I almost put down my beloved dog because of their incompetency with something that is considered standard in veterinary medicine. Read Less

Everyone was friendly and they do offer a free wellness exam! I was pleased with the treatment of my beloved kitty and will be returning! I recently was faced with the decision to euthanize Spanky my JRT of 17 1/2 years. I want to thank the staff at WSVC and Dr. Chris Sims for their support through a difficult experience. Dr. Sims and the WSVC staff were patient, accommodating and very sensitive to my questions and emotions. I received a Sympathy card for my loss from the staff at WSVC. Edgar the boxer was microchipped and someone else brought him to this vet after he became missing. the vet scanned him and didn't call Edgar's owners. Instead, he sent the poor dog home with the stranger and "recommended" the stranger call the owners. the vet said it was not his responsibility to call the owners of the micro-chipped pet and that the family who found the dog that should call. I would go out of my mind if this were my beloved pet who accidentally got away from me. the vet apparently has the name of this stranger who brought Edgar in, but the receptionist says she can't give it to the owners and that only the vet can...AND HE'S TOO BUSY TO TALK TO HER OR TAKE HER CALLS. I'm surprised to see the number of positive reviews for this clinic, in light of my recent experience. Our boxer was lost on New Year's Eve in our neighborhood in Apopka, FL. We have since learned that he was found and taken to this clinic on January 2, where his microchip was scanned and someone from the clinic called the pet recovery service (HomeAgain). Despite knowing that our dog did not belong to the person bringing him in, they simply relayed our contact information and sent them on their way.The stories that we have heard from this clinic are ever changing. First, they claimed that our dog was never scanned. Then he was, but he was "not in good shape." First, they told us they had the contact information for the person who brought him in. Then, this was a random person off the street and they took no information and provided no services but to scan our dog and give this person our contact information and send them away.I have called numerous times looking for answers on what they did with our dog and why. In the end, I asked the pointed, $64 million question, and ask that everyone reading this to allow the response to really soak in before deciding that this clinic is the kind of place you want caring for your families and your pets: "why didn't YOU contact me when you learned from HomeAgain that the person in your office was not the owner?"Their response: "You are not our client. He is not our patient."This is the penultimate in failure, if I've ever seen one. Shame on all of you.One star is too much for this clinic, after what I've seen of their service. On New Year's Eve my dog went missing in the cold, wet, dark night. My dad went looking and couldn't find him. So he decided to look early the next morning and the following four days. Still nothing. Until he got an email about his chip being scanned. By  the winter springs veterinarian clinic. He called the clinic looking for our dog and they told us they had NEVER seen our dog before. So we called the chip service which is awesome by the way. They didn't understand either. They called them and admitted they had seen him. They told us he wasn't in good shape and he wasn't there anymore. THATS IT. They lied right to us. And when they scanned the chip they neglected to call us. Or the 2nd number on the chip the Florida Boxer Rescue. And now that leaves my family and I broken hearted and mad. For 15 years I thought Winter Springs veterinary clinic was the best place you could bring your pet. Since, Dr. Eans has left the practice it has gone down hill. Most of the girls up front are extremely rude. The rudest one is the young blonde hair girl. She was not the receptionist we were talking to at the time and decided to butt in and put her two sense into the conversation and was completely rude about it. I have had two bad incidents with them. One a year ago after my dog was spayed. She started shaking her head as if she was having a seizure the next morning, which was a Saturday. I called up and asked them to look at the dog, since they did her surgery just the other day. The blonde hair girl at the front desk told me that they couldn't and that I needed to go to an emergency vet (which would have cost and arm and a leg). After fighting with them I brought my dog down there and they looked at her and told me the reason she was shaking her head was because they put deodorant on the stitches so that she wouldn't lick them. My final straw with the place was after I had to bring my dog to an emergency vet clinic late on a Friday night. She had been throwing up all day and was pretty dehydrated. I was told by the emergency vet that I needed to follow up with my vet first thing the next morning. I even asked the emergency vet if it was going to be a problem since the winter springs veterinary clinic is only open til 12:00 and that I probably wasn't going to be able to make an appointment. She told me that I have a referral and that they have never had a vet refuse a pet that was in the emergency vet clinic the night before. Well I had this feeling inside of me that I was going to have a problem. Sure enough I was right. The emergency vet faxed all the records over to the Winter Springs Veterinary clinic I walked inside and they told me that Dr. Sims wasn't going to be able to see my dog since I didn't have an appointment. They knew nothing about the paper work faxed over and treated me like my dog and me were a piece of worthless trash. I was so angry with them and told them that the practice has changed since Dr. Eans has left and the blonde hair girl starts going crazy and tells me I can't say that. I told her I can say that and after her going back and forth with me Dr. Sims comes up to the front and tells me he can look at the dog and keep her til 12 then I would have to take her to another vet to continue IV fluids, which I wouldn't of left her there anyway because I have lost all trust in them. I ended up asking for my dogs records and went to Tuskawilla Animal hospital. I may be spending a little more money there, but I felt a big weight lifted off of me that I would never have to deal with Dr. Sims and his nasty blonde haired receptionist again. Read Less

Found this place through yelp. And so glad I did! I called to schedule a wellness exam (which is Free!) my cat was seriously overdue because of my hiatus from Orlando's Banfield center. (Horrible experience in another review) Its a small quaint little clinic that doesnt bother with a lot of pizazz and decor you may find at other vet offices. The waiting room is simple. seating, sign in window, tv playing a video about pet health, bulletin board, and the door into the drs office. When called in we went with the assistant directly to the exam room. The Vet came in shortly after. He shook my hand and it was pleasant from there on.  I explained to him that it had been a while since her last vet visit since I left Banfield. He completely understood and made a point to get all her important shots updated without trying to sell me on extra nonsense. He tested some earwax and gave me a mini class on ear yeast infections about how it develops and whatnot with a prescription afterwards. He made sure that I understood everything and asked if there was anything else I needed. He was very warm, friendly and easy to talk to. I actually felt more comfortable compared to past vet visits. Her shots, ear wash prescription, and a month's worth of Revolution cost me only $72. I never paid so little for a vet visit. Everyone was very nice. Even other customers I was waiting with. It just seemed to be an all around pleasant environment that put more care into the animals and customer service than anything else which is ultimately what is wanted and needed. I have an 11 year old yorkie and have been going to a well known Oviedo Animal Hospital for a very long time, mostly because it was conveniently located & I just did not feel like going through the whole hassle of changing vets. I have always thought they were a little pricey, however after getting a $700.00 quote for a dental cleaning I decided it was time to make a change. After some research and reading many reviews I decided to try Winter Springs Veterinary Clinic at 131 W State Road 434 in Winter Springs and I am so glad I did. Not only is the staff there wonderful, I feel like Dr. Morales really cared about my pet and my concerns, AND the dental cleaning (including anesthesia, extractions, and antibiotics) cost us only $160.00. I've had chijuajua puppies for 31 years, and I've never had a vet I've felt comfortable with until now. Dr. Sims and the staff at Winter Springs Veterinary Clinic are AWESOME! They're so warm and caring, so nice people and the fees are excellent. I took my two chijuajuas in to have their teeth cleaned and some teeth removed, and the fee was less than $200 for both dogs. Another Vet was going to charge me $400 for one dog! Plus, Dr. Sims and the staff really care about your pet, I don't feel like they're trying to upcharge me for various services my pet may not need. This is the best vet in orlando! It is a drive over off of 434 but it is worth it. It is this old man who is very thorough and charges cheap because his office is so small. They don't even have a computer; they just have a cash register. Caring, loving people work at this vet clinic. We have taken our dog, an english springer spaniel, to Dr. Eans and Dr. Rogers for 13 years. We have really appreciated the special attention that the doctors and the staff have given to our dog. Not only do the doctors give great care, they spend the time to teach each animal owner how to better take care of their pet. They give straight forward, detailed answers to questions and they don't make you feel like they are just after your money like some of the other places in town.
