I waited some time before I wrote this review to make sure I could write it objectively. We had taken our dog Maggie to Hamby Road animal hospital for about 9 years, and when she was well, there werenβt very many complaints, although I will say they have a revolving door of Vets. When Maggie began to manifest signs of illness that went above and beyond her aging, that is when it was evident that βelder careβ was not their specialty, nor did they care. The last few years of her life she suffered greatly, a dog who walked up to 2-3 miles a day simply stopped wanting to go outside, a dog who was food driven simply lost her appetite, she incessantly paced, would only go to the bathroom in the house. Had swollen pads on her feet and weight loss. I wonβt name the Vets, but because of the revolving door of Drs. her symptoms were treated lightly. So we soldiered on, Maggie was our family. Watching her dwindle was hard, but for the Vets at Hamby, I hardly think they cared. One time toward the end she stopped eating for 4 Days, it took me 2 days before anyone at Hamby would call us back (even knowing she stopped eating), in the interim we had to take her to an emergency vet who took one look at Maggie, and said that this was a dog who was not well, yet one of the Vets still insisted that there was nothing wrong with her. All she saw an old dog who didnβt deserve the standard of care that is more than likely shown to the βshow dogsβ that they cater to. In the end, a new Vet at Hamby took one look at her and said that Maggie was a sick dog, and after the new Vet ran tests we found out that Maggie in fact had Stage IV lymphoma and it had spread throughout her body. To say the least she had suffered for several years, which explained the loss of appetite, swollen lumph nodes and ulcers. In order to end her suffering I made the extremely difficult decision to put her to sleep. We had spent thousands of dollars at Hamby, and I thought Maggie was loved there, but as soon as she got sick, the sympathy ended, when we put her down not one person from Hamby called to express their condolences. Pretty heartbreaking all around. The lymphoma wouldnβt have changed the outcome, but as a pet owner our dog in the end deserved a much higher level of care then she received, to ease her very obvious suffering. I would never take an animal to Hamby again, seeing our dog suffer and in the end their complete lack of compassion proved there are much better Vets out there who actually care. Read Less
