Dr. Legato combines his knowledge and diverse experiences in a patient and client-friendly way to optimize care for the animals under his care and to provide comfort and understanding to the humans. Our animal enjoyed all the attention, and we left happy with the care she received. We also appreciated none of the usual aggressive promotion of treatments that's the norm in other vet clinics. This is the place that my parents use living in Athens and I visited there myself. The vets that establish the practice are friendly caring and have a true passion for their career. I work in the field myself and that is not the words that I would use to describe all the veterinarians that I have met. Dr Fields was our vet when she practiced in Winder. When she left Winder and opened Sycamore with Dr Mackey, we tried several other vets in area. Both Dr. Fields and Dr. Mackey are excellent veterinarians who are great with all kinds of animals. My family first turned to them when we had an older rabbit. They were great with her, even getting down on the floor to check her out. As our rabbit approached 12 and her health began to fail they were instrumental in easing her discomfort and being honest with us about what the correct procedures that would help at her age. Now we have a rescue dog and Dr. Fields (we have no met with Dr. Mackey with the dog) again has been great in guiding us into new dog ownership, helping us decipher records from her previous owners, and helping us work through some minor skin issues. She's been very thorough in doing further research to get to bottom of what's been ailing our dog. With both pets, I've also felt as though Sycamore has given me a wide range of options to choose from to best fit our pets' health and our financial needs, without compromising great service and quality care. While recommendations are provided, I never feel pressured to pick one option over another or that unnecessary procedures are being prescribed.
