This is the first review I’ve ever left on any website. I’m so thankful for this animal clinic. My dog was bit on the ear by another dog last night and I was worried it would get infected so I decided the next morning I needed to take him to a vet. I was worried I wouldn’t be able to find anyone to check him out until Monday since it is Saturday and vets are really busy. My normal vet is closed on weekends so I called clinics in the area to try and get a last minute appointment and Belle Isle was the only one who helped me. I got an appointment within about an hour and was in and out in thirty minutes. The staff was very nice and helpful and reassuring. I love taking our boxer puppy, Rocky, here and he loves coming here, too. Most dogs dread the vet but not our pup! Everyone here at this office is so nice and friendly, and the doctors are great. Dr. Unger performed his neuter surgery-he did excellent and Dr. Wolkow checked him when we had a mast cell tumor scare. The technicians are all amazing with our fur baby, and he loves seeing them. All the people here give our pup so much attention. Perhaps what I found as completely above and beyond customer service is when Hannah, the technician, received a report from the outside 24 hr emergency vet she promptly called us twice to see how Rocky was doing after she received the outside hospital X-rays and ICU report showing he got hit by a car. This was a very emotional and critical time and the fact that someone from Belle Isle called us personally after this happened to check on him meant the world to us. He is going to see Dr. Ballal for a one week check up and fortunately is doing great!! I strongly suggest this practice for knowledgeable doctors and their caring team and wouldn't take Rocky anywhere else for routine care. Thank you!!! 6 stars!!! :) Read Less

My pup and I both love this hospital. After being diagnosed and treated for an immune disorder here, he still loves going (and we go quite regularly). He thinks he's a rockstar here, and I'm not treated like I'm overly paranoid/crazy (even though I am with him). They run his needed tests at scheduled intervals, with no wait time. When I request add'l checks for my peace of mind, they are accommodating, but clear that these are more for me than a medical necessity. They're thorough, reasonable, and very caring. No one loves the bill at the vet. However, because our animals can't speak, sometimes several tests must be done. Diagnosis and treatment here still came out to much, much less than every other case of IMHA I've reasearched. I've read horror stories of expensive test after test, only for this disorder to be caught too late (it's quick). Belle Isle caught it right away. They've consulted others for his case to gather as much working information possible to move forward, with no add'l cost. They're clear on cost and involve me in the decision making process, with all options, odds, and scenarios explained. I couldn't be more thankful or recommend them more. Take your animals here. They'll be in fantastic, loving care. I don't think there is a person in the building that hasn't been involved in his care, either giving him love or treatment. Even after all he's had done, I can't say 'vet' without my pup whining by the door until we leave. I don't believe he would still be here without them. Read Less

I've been taking my dogs to Belle Isle Animal Hospital since 2006 and I am quite please with all of the staff from the front desk manager, to the technicians to the fantastic doctors! Unfortunately, I had to make the very tough decision to let my 15 yr old cocker spaniel pass peacefully last summer and Dr. Unger could not have been more empathetic and helpful in guiding me to the right decision. Not to mention the fact the she did NOT encourage expensive and stressful tests to my sweet pup that "may" have given him only a couple of more months with me. My tiniest rescue dog has had her teeth cleaned twice at the hospital and they have always taken wonderful care of my little Mimi and my sweet, blind pup Macy as well. We love Belle Isle! We have been bringing our dog here ever since we adopted him about a year ago. We chose this vet because of the great reviews and proximity to our house and we have not been disappointed. It is always really easy to schedule an appointment and they are very prompt - I am never left waiting. They always take their time answering my questions (even if I just call in to ask a question), they are very caring, very thorough and follow up when they say they will. Our dog had to have surgery on his eye earlier this year and we were so comforted with how they handled the situation. They explained all of our options (surgical and non surgical), walked us through the entire process and called us several times during the day of his surgery with updates. They also sent us an itemized proposal beforehand so we knew exactly what to expect in terms of cost and I feel their prices are reasonable. We would definitely recommend Belle Isle to others. I've been going here for several years, and the prices are literally outrageous.  Then Belle Isle decides to partner up with an online veterinary pharmacy.  I was initially pleased because I thought this would make the process of spending a fortune, a bit easier.  Not only is the website poorly designed, but when I called to explain why I needed Belle Isle to contact the online pharmacy to change one of my dog's heartworm and flea medications (he wasn't taking the pills, so I needed to switch to a solution to ensure his coverage) - all I kept hearing for 5 minutes was how this wasn't possible, how the online pharmacy might not give me 2 free extra pills, and how I wasn't understanding the process. Literally - the process was that both my 20+ pound dogs needed 6 months of medication and all I was trying to buy was one package of 12.  Finally - Belle Isle says they'll call in the Rx, and as I say thank you - they hang up on me- real nice.  Then, as luck would have it, when they finally do so - it's wrong.  They had called it in for a lighter weight (10-20) when my dog is actually in the 20-40 lbs range.  So, I get the joy of calling back again.  The person answering then proceeds to argue with me about how much over 20 pounds my dog really is and how this should "be just fine".  Which I can only imagine implies their earlier Rx weight was wrong.  At any rate, I know he's over 20 pounds, so I need to argue with her some more and instead of receiving an apology for the incorrect Rx, the person says she'll call it in and hangs up on me curtly..  No apology, no sorry for the inconvenience.   The most ridiculous part is that due to their inefficiency, rather than using common sense, I have to pay an additional $40!!!!! for two separate packs of 6 doses, rather than just one 12-pack.  It's really ridiculous.  They are rude and overpriced. I have been seeing Dr. Unger for many years. Her surgical work is incredible. Every animal she has spayed has recovered very quickly with no scarring. Previously, I was dissatisfied with the surgical work from many of my former vets. Thankfully, I never actually lost a pet but any time they are put under that is a possibility. Now I have Dr. Unger do my surgeries and I know the job is done correctly and safely. The staff are very friendly and professional. I was loyal to this vet office for 4 years, then they decided to start charging me sick visit fees every time I came in, even if it was for the same issue as last time which they unsuccessfully treated. Not only that, but they did so many rounds of antibiotics and steroids, my dog developed a low immune system and started getting warts. When I emailed to let them know how bad I have been treated, I got absolutely no response. They do not care about the wellbeing of the FAMILY, which includes the owner. One time, my fiancé told a technician "I've spent so much money here on this issue," and the technician said, " It's better to just not think or talk about it." They'd like you to just shut up and keep throwing money at them. It used to be great. Things have gone downhill. Especially with the new doctor coming on board that we got stuck with. Read Less

We recently brought one of our cats here after she developed a respiratory infection and sounded terrible. We were quite worried for her but Dr. Amber Oteri was very helpful and got our little kitty all fixed up. She even trimmed her claws for us which must have taken some real cat magic. Dr. Unger has been caring for my lab since 2010. She has always been excellent with him and provided great care over the years for him. She has made sure to take the time to address all my concerns and explains everything in an understandable fashion. All the other employees at Belle Isle have always been great to work with and always have a positive attitude about what they do. I went here for the first time this morning; I'm so glad I did! After looking at many reviews online I called and made an appointment at 7:30am and they were able to get me in at 8:30am! It had been a while since I had taken my pup to the vet and I was ready for the "owner shamming" that I thought I would receive. I said, it's been a while I know that's bad... the response I got from Josh: you're here now and that's what matters. He was super sweet with my chihuahua. Then Dr. Wolkow came in, and she was just as nice! There wasn't any trying to sell me anything she didn't need and no pressuring about doing things that they think needs to get done in near future. Hate to leave a bad review anywhere, but really disappointed in how my situation was handled. They graciously worked me in last minute on a Saturday morning, however I paid $340 (that's with the new customer discount!) for them to completely drop the ball on a correct diagnosis on my cat and had to rush him to an emergency vet the next morning and pay another $173 for that vet to correctly handle the problem. When I called Monday to point out I paid them $340 for a thorough examination and they had entirely missed the huge swollen gland that ruptured overnight - what did I pay them all that money for?! They didn't admit any wrong doing, nor was it handled in a professional manner. Will definitely be taking my future business to other vet. Read Less

Belle Isle Animal Hospital has been fantastic with my two new puppies.I wouldn't call myself a dramatic or overly needy dog owner, but it's important for me to have people caring for my boys who understand that these dogs are an extension of my family. With that said I feel like Belle Isle has been very understanding, patient, and honest in their care for my two Frenchie brothers. With one trouble maker of a puppy, I have been bringing  my boys in quite regularly for this and that and have never felt like their diagnosis has been exaggerated  or that my dogs weren't getting the attention that they needed. They also have a clean facility, which is such a treat considering the conditions I have seen some vet's offices in.I would recommend them to anyone who wants quality care for their furbaby. They aren't the cheapest, but they are affordable; more importantly, they truly seem to care about the well-being of the pet they are taking care of. Read Less

We have found our new ATL vet.So far my husband and I have both had a chance to meet Dr. Ungar on separate occasions when our cat and dog needed to be seen, and we both agree that we've found our new Atlanta vet.During my recent visit, I had a great conversation with one of the vet techs and felt like she understood my concerns and successfully put me at ease. The receptionist was also very sweet and accommodating.The office was very easy to locate, the interior very modern and clean and coffee offered (very much appreciated for my early morning visit). Called to make appointment, and was asked if she could call me back. Never received a call back. Strike one. So I thought I'd give them another chance and called back myself. Made an appointment 4 days in advance to only show up with none of my information in system, not even my appointment. Strike two. Checked the number to be sure I called the right place and it wasn't my mix up, which it wasn't. I was then told I would have to wait possibly a couple hrs to "work me in." Strike three. Despite when calling and the receptionist saying they were over booked today (Saturday), I asked if they could still answer a question I had about my cat. She immediately transferred me to a tech and he listened to my concerns and decided that I should bring my cat in today and they would make the time to see him, as long as I didn't mind waiting a little while. I, of course, said that I would wait however long necessary because I was new to the area and didn't know of any other places open on Saturday. I walked into the office and was put into a room right away. The tech I talked to on the phone (I think his name is Josh and he is awesome) came into the room after five minutes and took an extensive history and took my cat to the back in less than ten. This place is amazing. When I moved to Georgia I was skeptical of clinics based on previous experience l. These guys are unlike any others. They explained their recommendations and give me a full price form along with possible next steps (depending on how he reacts to the medications). Again, this place is amazing! This is really a one of a kind facility, It's brand new and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly.(hard to find these days). We have since boarded our baby Belle(no relation) at this locations and every time we pick her up she looks so happy and she is clearly well taken care of. This is all i can ask for from a care giver. They give her baths and vaccinated her during her visit as well.
