I took my cat here for the first time about a year ago for a routine check-up. Everyone was very caring and patient, and I think my cat received very good care. My only complaint was that they were not able to give her the pills that they prescribed her for fleas and worms. Great experience! They were able to accommodate a last minute next day appointment for my cat. The entire staff was super nice, easy going and great with my very nervous pet. The doctor seemed knowledgeable, easy to talk to and informative. Only critique would be she gave him some deworming pills and causally said she was going to give him pills for deworming without really asking me if I wanted him to have them. I would have said yes if asked, it was a separate charge on the bill though. The price was still decent for the total service (exam, travel documents, updated vaccines, worm pills and some meds for the plane ride) at 170ish bucks. Read Less

Love this vet. Their front desk staff is amazing every time I call and they treat my four-legged children like their own. My cats hate traveling and being in the carrier. There is this precious sweet grey cat that is there every time I bring them in. He/she always comes out to check on them while I stand awkwardly checking in with my howling furr-kids. My puppy Yogi and I love going to Pharr Road Animal Hospital! We can get an appointment, or if my schedule doesn't permit, they offer drop off service. I can drop him off before work and get a call from the Vet when they have taken a look at Yogi. Dr Winokar and the great staff at Pharr Road have taken wonderful care of our 2 year old golden doodle, Gracie. Thankfully, she just needs sees them for routine checkups. Our former sweet soft-coated Wheaton terrier, Maggie, suffered from so many allergies that we were regular visitors. The vets, technicians and staff here are amazing! Most recently, I took my lab because she was limping on her back leg. They were completely booked for appointments but gladly welcomed me as a walk-in and got me in a room quickly. Dr. Horner came in and was very transparent with me about what she thought but was also very kind and reassuring as she could see the fear and concern in my face. She walked me through what she would like to do, and I really appreciated that she wasn't jumping the gun and doing x-rays right away as she was aware of the expense. There's no better Place! I go there with my 2 Chihuahua Mix Dog Girls Cassie and Bibi since i moved to Atlanta. They got spayed there during Christmas time - the scars where really smaller than i thought- tiny i can say and it healed super quick. They got soft fabric Cones that where not bothering them that much. I just have been yesterday for shots and check up. The Doctor is sooo nice and wonderful- so is the entire Staff there! We recently switched to Dr Almand & Pharr Road as a result of friend's recommendations. We had previously been seeing another local veterinarian for years, but, their practice has been undergoing changes. Our dog is older, somewhat arthritic and diagnosed with a situation that will probably claim her within the next year. We intend to make it a great year for her. Dr Almand's course of treatment was to honor that, give her medication and lifestyle recommendations to make her time as great as it could be. Our prior vet advocated test after test and invasive surgeries when the ultimate outcome is already dictated. We prefer the kind, intelligent & pragmatic solutions offered by Dr. Almand. Pharr Road has given my two dogs the best possible care! When I first adopted my dogs, it was obvious that they had not received the veterinary care that they needed. After reviewing several vets, I chose Pharr Road. From the beginning they have been so wonderful, and caring. When one dog was involved in a dog attack, he was taken to the emergency vet. Not even 12 hours later, Dr. Paschal had called me to check on my dog! You do not get that kind of care, and attention to detail at many vets. Whenever my rescue Golden, Chrissie, and I go to Dr. Paschal and Pharr Road Animal Hospital, we get the best treatment in the world. I've tried other vets over past decade, so I have a comparison. Since first coming to Dr. Paschal 1 year ago, I saw that she discusses various options and costs and helps you figure out what is best for your pet. She also keeps your pet's needs in mind and lets you know when new products are available that will help her. After having five skin infections while seeing another vet in January 2015, since coming to Pharr Road in February Chrissie has become the picture of health. Dr. Paschal also clearly cares about her human and animal clients. Once I had an emergency since Chrissie had gotten a stick stuck in her gums, and Pharr Road advised me how to get through the night, since there wasn't much bleeding, and then Dr. Paschal took care of Chrissie early the next morning. I was simply stunned to read a negative review about Dr. Winokur have to wonder if it was written by someone who had never been to visit him. My experience with him has been quite the opposite and I have never met anyone who had a bad experience with either Dr. Winokur or any of the other vets and staff of Pharr Road Animal Hospital. I searched for several years to find a Vet of Dr. Winokur's caliber and have been taking my dogs and fosters to him for several years. One of the things that makes Dr. Winokur stand out from the rest is his broad base of knowledge. He is skilled in traditional western practices as well as eastern medicine. Accupuncture, theraputic massage, Chinese herbal medicine, traditional western approaches - his skill set is extensive. If your pet presents with a challenging symptom, he will consult with other doctors as appropriate. One of my Rottweilers has had numerous (!!) leg issues and several vets told me that she would have to be on rimadyl for the rest of her life. I didn't want to go that route for a variety of reasons and was thrilled when I found Dr. Winokur and he tried her on several herbals instead. My Rottweiler is now running pain free and is able to live a normal life - something that other vets said would never happen. I can't thank him enough. Another thing I like about Dr. Winokur is that he does not speak down to you and takes as much time to explain things to you as you need. It is not unusual for him to give you printouts of articles or suggestions of books to read. He is very thorough and gentle in his examinations and asks alot of questions about what is going on - which sometimes seem like they are totally unrelated - and all of a sudden you are having an ""aha"" moment as he ties the symptoms together as he reaches a diagnosis. Each visit with him is like a mini lesson, which I like. I personally prefer a vet who is of the ""less is more"" school of care, and that is Dr Winokur. He won't suggest a sledge hammer approach when there is another equally effective, less stressful way to deal with the issue. One of my dogs had a mast cell tumour and Dr. Winokur was very compassionate and helpful as he walked me through treatment and what to expect. And he always returns phone calls and after a surgery he always calls with a report and then his staff will follow up after you bring your pet home to see if there are any problems. I have taken my fosters to several of the other vets in the practice as well and I have an equally high opinion of them.The staff to a person are friendly, competent and they always come over to say hello and pet and greet which ever dog I happen to have with me. I cannot speak highly enough of Dr. Winokur and the other vets and staff of Pharr Road Animal Hospital and I am so very thankful that I found him. Yes, they can be a little expensive, but for the quality of care you receive, you are getting a bargin. No other vet for my dogs, thats for sure!!!! Read Less

We have been taking our dogs to Pharr Road Animal Hospital since we moved to Atlanta in 1980. At that time there were only two veterinarians (Dr. Petty and Dr. Tucker). We fell in love with the doctors and the office staff and knew we had found the right doctors to trust with our pets' health care. Thirty years later we continue to be impressed with the quality of care our four-legged children receive from Pharr Road Animal Hospital. They have nursed our dogs through serious illnesses and have done so in a caring manner that made us feel that they loved our pets as much as we do. The combined expertise and experience of the doctors in this practice guarantee that your pet's problems receive excellent diagnosis and treatment. We are particularly impressed with the fact that they keep up to date with the latest treatment alternatives (including acupuncture). The front office staff, the techs and the doctors (including Dr. Winokur) without exception, have always treated us and our pets with the utmost respect. Exceptional Professional Care and Service It is clear to me that one person has issues with this great practice and is abusing the internet with multiple negative ratings under different registrations. Anyone can have a bad experience. It doesn?t mean that this is a bad place. My Corgi was limping very badly and another veterinarian had already suggested expensive ACL surgery. Dr. Winnokur and Dr. Nichols both examined my dog, studied x-rays, administered acupuncture and gave me a sound plan to rehabilitate my dog. We used minimal medication and no surgery. It was been almost 2 months and he is not limping at all. Dr. Winnokur called me to check in twice. I have always found the staff to not only courteous but very professional as well. I love that they use not only sound traditional methods, but also are up on newer, less invasive, natural methods as well There are several vets on staff and I would trust any of them with my pets. The Vets at this clinic do not care about your pets. They only care about getting your money. The office staff are also obnoxious. They make pejorative comments about the customer and pet, even the office manager has is an unkind. The vets never return phone calls, even when promised! They wanted to order costly and invasive tests without a plausible reason to warrant these procedures. I have seen both the owners of the clinic, and they are awful vets. The office staff is unkind and patronizing to your face. When you ask to obtain your pet's test results, the technicians will read over the results, and notify you that only the veterinarians can provide the results. However, the veterinarians will NEVER come to the phone, they will refrain from returning phone calls, and will NOT see you even if you go to their office. I had to tell them that I will file a complaint with the BBB in order for them to get the doctor to give me the results. Furthermore, they NEGLECT to apologize for their errors and rudeness. Also, they charge significantly more than other clinics. They don't seem to care about the animals in which they are allegedly treating. I will NEVER go back to this clinic. They are awful! I will never take my dog back here. I took my dog to this vet b/c she seemed to have a bladder infection. The vet took xrays, urine tests, etc and came back to me, after I spent $300, with absolutely no helpful news. He suggested I take my pet to a specialist which could've cost another $800. He then suggested that my dog ""might have bladder cancer"". Of course after hearing that, I was so sad and very upset. I cried all day and spoke to my husband. My husband called the vet back and asked to re-test our dog. He did... and then found out it was a simple bladder infection!! First of all, I am upset that he even suggested my dog had cancer without knowing for sure and Secondly, I feel like they ripped me off! I will never recommend this place. Read Less
