I love that they know my dogs, go out of their way to check on them (they've called the next day to check on them before when we've come in for something!), how they treat my dogs like I treat them, and how they care about us as well. This place exceeded our expectations. The staff was very nice from the time we walked in to the time we walked out. Our dog seemed pretty comfortable in this environment. The nurse and Doc B were very helpful in answering all of our questions and we learned so much. We thought it was great how they thoroughly tested him and his issue with worms. They tested a sample in house and sent one out. They also tested him for adult and larva heart worms before prescribing him heart medicine. They gave us pointers on how to encourage him to eat. The bill was a little expensive but mainly because they did A LOT. Updated his vaccines, got him dewormer medicine, and heart worm medicine. It was definitely worth every penny. Honestly? You won't find a better vet. I refuse to see anyone else for my pets. I was forced to put my dog of 14 years down, and Dr. Miller sat on the ground with us as we said goodbye to our Chevy. As my family and I cried over her, you could see him tearing up. He offered to get her paw print for us and handled our loss in an exceptionally kind and empathetic manner. When we asked about payment, he responded, "Nothing. We can make money other ways. It just wouldn't feel right to charge for something like this." A few weeks later, I received a letter in the mail notifying me that the hospital made a monetary donation to the UGA Veterinary School of Medicine in memoriam of our sweet Chevy. I've only been taking my dog, Simon, here for about a year, but they are great! The waiting area is very nice, clean, and comfortable and they usually have me in an exam room within a few minutes, compared to the hour-long waits I had at his old vet even with an appointment. Dr. Wright is amazing and takes the time to answer any questions and concerns I have in detail. Simon recently underwent a surgery to remove a fatty tumor on his face, which was close to his eye and ear. I was so nervous that something could go wrong or that his face would look funny after. But the surgery turned out great and Simon has healed without any complications! I'm so glad I turned to PFAH. They are a little more pricey-er than my old vet, but I don't mind paying extra for the high level of care they provide for my boy. Plus, it's 5 minutes from my apartment. :) Read Less

I cannot tell you how amazing PFAH is! For 15 years, we have been going here, seeing Dr. Wright, Dr. Miller, Dr. Smith, and Dr. Berkowitz. Dr. Wright is one of a kind, with great ability to explain things clearly, keep stressful situations to a minimum, and to support every decision we make. Max, our Bichon, died earlier this year, but he started getting sick years beforehand. He was a difficult dog to medicate at times because of his issues, but all the doctors were able to find a way to make him comfortable. In the last year or so of Max's life, he really went downhill. He was the first dog we had ever had and the attachment we had to him made decisions difficult for us. We began visiting Dr. Wright generally once every two weeks, or more frequently: ear infection, loss of hearing, urinating in the house, wandering around, not eating, limping, stomach issues, etc. Dr. Wright (or whichever doctor we saw) was always so supportive, never becoming frustrated with us, and always found a way to help. All of the staff seemed to know of Max's problems, so when we called or came in, they were so sweet to him and us. The decision to euthanize Max at the end was a heart wrenching decision, but the support we got from Dr. Wright gave us the strength to make the right decision. From the first day we went to PFAH to the day of Max's euthanasia, we have been truly blessed to have such a wonderful veterinary team to help us with our sickness-prone dog. Thank you PFAH for being such a support for my family and being so easy to work with. We are contemplating a new puppy for next spring and there is no way we would ever go anywhere else!Read Less

Powers Ferry Animal hospital is the only place I will ever take my animals. I have 5 senior pets (2 dogs and 3 cats), so I’m a frequent customer with over 50 visits to this practice. EVERY SINGLE EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN POSITIVE. I transferred to this hospital 2 years ago after an unpleasant experience with my former vet. Everyone at PFAH is attentive, caring, creative and accommodating. Even when she must deliver unpleasant or expensive news, the communication from Meg Wright is... clear, practical and compassionate. All of my animals adore her. Meg is our Doctor for all things “western medicine” and Dr Scott Miller treats my 13 year old Labrador for hip pain with acupuncture 2x per month. He and the technician always dote on her during her treatment and never hesitate to answer questions and give advice on how to manage my old friend’s health/joint pain/appetite. The team who manages the front desk is always so helpful (calling in prescription refills, asking the Dr. questions, working in an urgent appointment) and the techs who assist the doctors are a joy to work with. When we found ourselves in their office on the day we had to say goodbye to our bear-sized retriever (Guinness) the staff was so sensitive to our pain, and I cannot imagine a more dignified and peaceful end of life. From the first visit to the last, these are the people you can trust in animal medicine. See More Read Less

They are very patient and seem to truly love animals. Our puppy had a puppy murmer, which they were monitoring, and provided us updated reports each visit. When our puppy was getting sick off of medication she was taking they provided recommendations to help, and our vet even called the next day to check on her and see how it was working.I would highly recommend for anyone looking for a good vet in the area. Very disappointed in Powers Ferry. We brought our dog there 2 months ago bc she was limping and they told us it was her knee and gave us meds, told her to stay off of it etc. after 3 weeks not improving and her leg progressively getting worse we took her back again they ran tests and could not figure out what it was and gave her more pain meds and a prescription for rest.  We spent almost 750 which is neither here nor there but very upsetting they could not figure it out. After one more week and her leg  becoming even worse we took her to Norcross animal hospital where they immediately gave us 4 options including the most likely bone cancer. Bone cancer is a rapidly spreading condition and very time sensitive. We are running test on her now but our vet is shocked that it was allowed this to go one for so long when it is so common and her symptoms were so apparent.  Our sweet dog at best will have to have her leg amputated which we are hoping we can do so she can continue to live a happy life but if the cancer spread to her lungs bc of this delay this is not an option. I hope powers ferry is more thorough with their future patients and at least allows them to exhaust all options. Read Less

This is a great group.  I had a rather poor experience with the Ansley group in town, so one of my colleagues recommended this place-- ok his son is one of the vets, but this is an honest report.  I've seen two of the partners and they are caring, do not over-test and are knowledgeable.  Dr Berkowitz picked up on a congenital cataract that was missed by my previous vet and did a great job reassuring me and discussed further surveillance options.  Outstanding practice and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a veterinarian. Making the decision to euthanize a beloved animal is very difficult and painful. On two separate occassions this clinic encouraged us to put down our pets. In one case, they told us there was nothing they could do for our much loved 3 year old persian cat, who developed pneumonia after being stranded outside on a cold and rainy night. At the last minute, my daughter took the cat in her arms and asked to sleep with her one last time. During the night, the cat purred. We took her to VMC the next day and she was cured a week later. Two years later, the cat still sleeps with my daughter. In the second case, PFAH told us to euthanize our golden retriever. Again, we declined and the dog survived her temporary ailment and lived another three happy years. The front desk is typically rude (though a few are nice), the doctors really seem to care for the most part -- but you need to be the best judge of whether your pet is ready to go on to the next world. I took my dalmatian here today for the first time. She has some abnormal bumps on her skin so I took her to Chastain Animal Clinic where they wanted to cut them off and send them to a lab which would have cost around $300 and put my already nervous dog through a lot of stress. I decided to go to Powers Ferry Animal Hospital and get a second opinion and I'm glad I did! I saw Dr. Wright and she was wonderful. She took a little sample from the bumps and was able to tell me that they were benign cysts and there was no need to cut them off. The building is nice and clean and the receptionists and technicians were all wonderful. There was almost no wait at all which is great because my dog gets more and more nervous the longer we wait. I couldn't be happier with the overall experience. You should take your pets here! Read Less

I cannot thank Powers Ferry Animal Hospital enough for their kindness. Read Less

We got our 8 mo. golden retriever, Hudson, neutered here and it couldn't have been easier/less stressful. Because of his size, I expected the bill to be at the higher end of the range they provided, and it was $100 less than anticipated. They keep your pup overnight to keep an eye on him, which is a great feature. The staff is friendly and will go above and beyond to help/ ease anxiety that puppy parents can have about their dog going into surgery. The office is always clean and never chaotic, making reluctant pets more willing to visit the vet. I will definitely be referring friends in the area to Powers Ferry. Read Less

I have been taking pets to PFAH for years and they are amazing. Drs. Meg Wright and Scott Miller have been wonderful to my Beagle Oakley and my sweet kitty Betsy. I've never felt as though they were telling me what to do or trying to just charge me for everything possible. In fact, I often wished that he was also my primary care physician. Now, we see Dr. Smith as well as the other vets in the practice. Each one is special and the staff is outstanding.

Read Less

I decided to go to Powers Ferry Animal Hospital and get a second opinion and I'm glad I did! I saw Dr. Wright and she was wonderful. She took a little sample from the bumps and was able to tell me that they were benign cysts and there was no need to cut them off.
