I've been taking my dog here for a couple of years.  My senior Shih - Tzu was continually treated for a UTI bladder infection nearly every 2 months. A little research told me that recurring infections like these were common in female dogs.  Over the past two months I had become frustrated with both Dr Duncan and Ebony at the front desk.  Dr Duncan had no insight and failed to be proactive at finding an answer to her illness. Ebony was rude and "empathy" was a foreign concept to her. Ebony seems bright and cheery when the vet is around but her behavior is rude and abrasive when he is not.  I went in on March 1 to let them know that I was done working with them and that I would have the records requested by the next vet.  I was then told abruptly that she would be happy to print them out right now. I could tell she was angry after I let them know I was no longer comfortable having my dog treated by them and the way she treated me.   She said loudly, "I'm not going to email them to the next vet " and in doing so reinforced my decision to leave them as the right one.  You don't treat people that trust you to care for their pet that way. Empathy and kindness seem like a given but Ebony failed miserably at that. Fast forward two hours later at the Briarcliff animal hospital. JUST TWO HOURS later and within 15 minutes at the Briarcliff animal hospital she was diagnosed with a LARGE CANCEROUS bladder tumor. They tried a couple of things but finally at 3:30 am Sun Morning little Annie let me know it was time and she was euthanized in my arms at the Sandy Springs emergency clinic. It is heartbreaking. I called Winters chapel animal hospital  today to let them know so perhaps  this would not happen to another helpless animal.  Ebony said, " sorry about Annie, have a good nite and hung up".  Because of that and her inability to listen and show any empathy I am writing this review.  I would suggest you do your homework before choosing your vet.  I failed miserably here. I believe everyone deserves to make mistakes the key is learning from them.  I have and hope they do as well. Atlanta has a large Vet community.  The vet at the ER clinic that euthanized her did not  understand why he could did not reach out and ask for a little help from the vet community to find out what was really ailing little Annie many months ago.  Very sad last few days. Attached is a pic of the tumor after an ultrasound.  It's at the back in front of her rear hind leg. If you look closely you will see the outline. It appears to be the size of a baseball and I'm amazed that he could not feel that during her "senior exam" in October. Consider lots of options and educate yourself when choosing your Vet. Read Less

It's unfortunate that this is the closest veterinary clinic that I have now that I moved to this area. I took my dog with an emergency in her back. I was told that I needed an appointment, the attitude of the front lady was awful, you can tell she didn't want to help. I visited this clinic around 2 years ago and I had a  good experience, I don't know why they changed so much. They let me go with my dog in pain, they asked me to come back at 1pm and it was 9 am when I arrived there. There was only one person in the waiting room. I drove to my last veterinary clinic in Sandy Springs (North springs animal clinic) God bless them!!! They took care of my dog, and now she is doing better. I wouldn't never step in Winters chapel animal hospital again, they don't have the compromise that you need to have a pet clinic. Read Less

We have two orange tabby brothers that we adopted from this wonderful practice almost 13 years ago. They have received all of their medical care here and we are still pleased with care here. In the past, this practice graciously took in kittens from a feral cat we eventually tamed. They socialized them and adopted them out. We recently brought a dog into our family and he loves the staff here as much as his cat brothers do. Easy to get a work in appointment and the office staff are excellent too. Highly recommend! We love it there.  The staff is friendly and familiar, the facility homey.  My Akita begins to cry with excitement whenever we drive up for a week-end stay.  He loves the ho-hum attitude of the couple of cats that greet us in the lobby, the only time he is allowed to examine cats nose to nose.  I always tell them,  "I don't know what you're doing to him but he loves to board here."  And the staff handles his 100 lbs. of excitement with aplomb.  Gail Read Less

Ever since I've moved to the area I have been taking my little dog here. The service is really good but the place inside could be a little cleaner. Don't really like the fact that they let their cats just roam around all willy nilly. My dog always gets anxious coming here because of the environment but it is convenient and I do believe they know what they're doing. The receptionist always remembers our last visit and she's excellent. The actual vet is a little cold but most doctors/vets are to me.. Back in 2006, I took a dog here and explained to them about her injuries. They told me that the story of her injury explanation would be kept strictly confidential. That was a complete and total lie! They lied to the dog's new owner and told them that a family member of mine had purposely abused the dog that I had brought in to them to have treated. I was extremely appalled and outraged when that dog's new owners started to spread the lies and rumors to other people (dog owners) about me.The veterinarians that own this animal hospital are both extremely stupid. They DO NOT give two ***** about who the hell they hurt and who's reputation that they trash and tarnish. This place SHOULD BE put out of business and SHOULD BE shut down for good. The veterinarians here love to lie to their clients as well as lie to other people. Also, when they were treating my other dog as well...they tried to get me to get him other and extra veterinary treatments and veterinary services that he did not need and that I did not want to get for him at all (i.e. dental cleaning, x-rays, etc...). I asked them what the reasons and purpose for those are and were, and they could not come up with and could not think of a good reason and explanation why.So, I told them "NO" and they tried their hardest to charge me for things that I never asked them to do and for things that I did not need or want done for my dog. They also tried to charge me for things that I did NOT give them consent and permission for. But, I was able to prevent them from doing that before they ever did. Just like they do to their other clients. I am not stupid, so I told and demanded them that they release all of my dog's medical records and medical history information to me. I also told them that they have just lost a long time client and patient due to their stupidity and incompetence. They did not give a rat's ass and just thought nothing of it at all. I also told them that they SHOULD BE COMPLETELY embarrassed and ashamed of themselves. They absolutely and truly are the MOST WORST animal hospital in all of the state of Georgia. This place is extremely crappy! I would MOST DEFINITELY NOT recommend this animal hospital at all. The veterinarians here are COMPLETELY and UTTERLY incompetent and idiotic. They DO NOT know what the hell they are doing practically ALL of the time. They have the WORST customer service and services ever imaginable. They OVER charge for their services. They are completely unethical. This is by far the WORST animal hospital in all of Atlanta, DO NOT go here with your pets ever!  If You are looking for a good affordable animal hospital to take your dog and/or cat to, look elsewhere. Because you most DEFINITELY WILL NOT find  it here at this LOUSY animal hospital.I have been to other animal hospitals in the past before I have ever heard of this place and they were all kept completely clean, odor-free, well kept, and well maintained. Winters Chapel Animal Hospital IS the most SMELLIEST, the most UNCLEAN, the most FILTHIEST, and the most UNSANITARY animal hospital in all of Georgia. Every time that I would leave this animal hospital, I would immediately rush home to take a shower in anti-bacterial bodywash and shampoo my hair twice. I felt so disgusted and unclean everytime that I was at that animal hospital. If you have pets, DO NOT take them here and DO NOT do ANY sort of business with these IDIOTS at all ever!It just makes me wonder and imagine just exactly what kind and how many types of germs, bacteria, grossness, filth, and diseases are festering and infesting over the ENTIRE inside of this animal hospital are. I also just wanted to throw up after every time that I had left here. It truly made me completely and totally physically ILL and completely and totally dirty, unsanitary, and unclean (both inside and out)! Also, I had to shower for 2 whole hours (from the very moment that I arrived back to my home after every time that I would leave this animal hospital) just to get all of the smell, grossness, filth, and germs of this lousy and crappy animal hospital off of me. I have been talking my dog to Companion Animal Hospital in Norcross GA which is owned by Dr Silverman, as well as Winters Chapel in Atlanta. He has taken excellent care of my dog, and checks her every year when I bring her there for her physical. A few months ago my dog was attacked in a local park and was severely bitten by a vicious dog. I brought my dog to Companion, and the vets and the staff there immediately started working on her. She required a a large number of stitches, a drain in the wound, antibiotics, and several follow up visits. They did an excellent job, and now she is like her normal self again. As far as the other review on this site, sounds like June Choi is angry that the vet told someone that her family abuses animals... Applause for the Vet!!!!!!! Read Less

I was employed by these Doctors, am currently a client and an unsolicited fan of the way they conduct business and practice medicine. An insider perspective: Dr. Nachamkin is precise in all that he does from ironed creases in his scrubs, to calculating estimates, to never promoting more treatment than is necessary. I have seen these Doctors maintain their professional demeanor, integrity and honor through personal illness and tragedies. They have remained steadfast in their ethical practices of medicine as well as reasonable in their prices. They're not a charitable organization, which receives donations, but I have seen many charitable acts of kindness through the years done by these Doctors. I have seen countless clients driving their $100,000.00 cars, carrying their Gucci handbags decline a virus shot for their dog which costs circa $25.00. Then, the dog comes down with parvo, and the treatment is expensive. Instead of the person admitting they should have gotten the inexpensive shot, they would yell at the staff that the treatment of parvo is too expensive, and if ?we loved? animals, we would not charge that much money. Completely, neglecting the fact that we informed and educated them on the need for the virus shot, which they declined. They have had a plethora of examples of reasonable honest clients as well as unreasonable dishonest people. Some who state, ?Do whatever you need to do Doctor, money is not the concern, my pet is my priority.? I found that many times, they are the very people who then turn the tables, when the bill is presented, and so it appears to be with this poster. It is unfortunate the internet has allowed unproven complaints to libel a person without a fair balance of the facts. I am very disappointed in the depths humanity will go to hurt the innocent... especially because it seems they wanted to ""get out of paying a bill"" which they had authorized before treatment. (It has been policy for years that everyone signs a comprehensive treatment release form before dropping off their pet and they dicuss price ranges at length. And before any unforeseen additions, the client is called to get verbal authorization) ***Note: Her family are still clients of the Doctor. What does that tell you? Dr. Silverman For months I heard the Doctor go outside and have a conversation. I thought he was on the phone and did not pay close attention. Then, one day he opened the door to the practice and was sweet-talking to a little cat trying to coax her to come inside. I recognized the feral cat as we had fed her for four years in a bowl off to the side of the building. This cat, we named Cha Cha, would warm up to the Doctor and tell him all about her day in a varied tones of meows. He would speak lovingly in return until she trusted him. Today, that cat lives inside with all of them. She greets the clients and gives her ?testimony? of her life before and after she got to move inside. Read Less

I have been to this veterinarian back in 2006 with a Dachshund that I used to own. She had rubber bands on her muzzle and this veterinarian did remove the rubber bands from her muzzle and treat and clean the wounds as well as give her a few stitches. He asked me what happened and I told him that when I woke up, I found her with two rubber bands wrapped around her muzzle. He asked me who placed them there, my father told me to tell him that he did it. So, I did just that. Now, when her adoptive new owner called him...he decided to open his huge trap and tell her that my father had done it. So, she tells her friend and her friend tells everyone else...and now my father has had his reputation completely trashed by this completely STUPID and IGNORANT veterinarian. I should have filed a law suit against him for slander and reported him to the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association for professional misconduct. Read Less

Overall premise of situation: Cat was throwing up night before for several hours. He was just put on Thyroid medicene by the Dr about a week prior which wasn't reacting well to him. So I took him in for a look at to see if the medicene was right strength. Not to run 15 other additional tests when he was a healthy cat before the thyroid medicene was prescribed. Situation and results: Winters Chapel and Dr. Nachamkin ran unauthorized tests (after getting off the phone with us and telling us no extra work would be taken because it would be a waste and nothing was likely to show) that ranked up a $300 bill. When I called to speak to the Dr about his choice of testing and authorization he proceeded to raise his voice and say I was questioning his skills as a Dr. I explained I wasn't but didn't give him a blank check for my cat services (especially when he A) had extra work 6 weeks prior all turn out to say he was a perfect cat and B) he said he appeared to be just fine in the office that morning and had not thrown up etc so he would give him IV and anti-nausea medicene and monitor him). So of course, I was shocked to see a $300 bill for bl*od work etc. He argued his rights to do what he wanted and then said he would take the charges off with a refunded check. I said thank you as I think that the panel ordered was out of line for the symptoms and past extra work of 6 weeks ago, He then yelled you will get your records back too and Hung up on me. That was uncalled for and unmature. Especially for a man of his age and practice discipline.Overall rating: I rate him with one- star. There is another Dr there that I have seen, a woman and she was pleasant. So I limit my review to him. But, there are many places out here and you seem to see whomever they give you so if the odds are you might see him, I would go somewhere else.

Read Less
