My baby boy, Pipsqueak, was at death's door this morning. My regular vet was not in so I thought of Westside which is near my house. We were waiting when they opened their door. We were taken to an exam room where my little boy was seen immediately by a vet tech to gather info and then soon after by Dr. Hawkins. After he was taken away for bloodwork and medication, Pippy was brought back to the exam room a little while later showing signs of improvement. I was soooo thankful and I will be eternally grateful to you for saving him. Thank you Westside for recognizing the seriousness of this emergency, getting my baby in ASAP and on the road to recovery today. Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! UPDATE: My little boy passed away a few days after this but Dr. Hawkins and Westside staff did everything they could to save him before that happened. They called me twice a day with updates to keep me as informed as possible and took my worried mom calls and questions in stride. I know he was in good hands his last few days and I will rely on Dr. Hawkins and Westside Animal Hospital in the future to provide routine and emergent care as needed for my other two dogs. I will start off by saying that the vet techs are incredible. They are very friendly and polite. You can tell that they love what they do. I came to this vet after getting a new puppy based on a recommendation from a couple that I met. The first visit went well and I was pleased with the care. However, the second visit is when things started to go downhill. When I came in for the second visit, I had scheduled it because I was told that I would need a "follow-up" appointment. When I arrived, I was told that I should not have been scheduled because my pup was already up to date on all of his vaccines. Luckily, I ended up needing the office visit anyway because he was showing signs of a UTI. Had I not needed to be there, I would have been wasting my time. Dr. Hawkins was very friendly and answered all of my questions, but I have had some issues since my last visit two weeks ago. My dog finished his medications, but was still showing signs of his UTI. I wanted to call and speak to one of the veterinarians to get advice about coming back in or maybe get a refill. I called Monday and was told I would get a call back as soon as possible. I got no call. I waited until 24 hours later and called Tuesday afternoon. I was told that my puppy's file was on one of the vet's desks and that I would get a call that day. Nobody called. I called AGAIN Wednesday morning and explained that I have called three times now and STILL have not spoken with any of the veterinarians. I was told that the vet who "knew his file" had the day off. I asked to get my refill for his medications (which I asked for on Tuesday) and I was told it would be faxed and ready shortly. It is now Thursday, and I have yet to get a phone call or a response from a veterinarian and I have not gotten any word on my pup's medication refill. He has now gone almost a week without antibiotics and is still showing signs of a UTI. At this point, I have called and made an appointment elsewhere. I came to this place because of the recommendation and the great reviews, but I suppose I am one of the few bad apples in the bunch. I do not feel like I was given the time of day or like my pup was cared for in the way that he should have. I also don't feel like I should wait 4 days and counting just to get in touch with a veterinarian about concerns that I have for my dog. Maybe it's poor communication. Maybe it's poor organization. We have an old male cat that was having some issues. The same day I called, they were able to make an appointment for him late in the day and understood I may be a little late for the appointment. The paperwork that needs to be filled out is short and sweet and we were taken in about 5 minutes after I was done with the paperwork.We were put in our own room. From start to finish it took about an hour. We had to have lab work done, shots, and had to have him hydrated. Everyone that I interacted with was helpful and caring. There is also an old male cat named Clifton that wonders the office that is super sweet that will come by and visit. I cant speak to the price, as I don't price shop if my pet is in need. All I needed to know was I felt that we were important, being well attended to, and cared for. Read Less

I pulled out of the garage with my two female terrier rescues to go get their nails trimmed and some more Heartgard. I left without leashes. When I walked in I asked if Westside had two leashes I could borrow for my dogs, I'd give them back when I walked my girls back to the car when finished. They said they did not have leashes for me to borrow.I looked at the art on the walls and there are not one but TWO prints of General Lee as their wall decorations As a result of not having leashes for me to borrow, one of my dogs started growling and trying to bite another dog-it has to do with her not liking to be held-and I was bitten. They walked me into the back room to clip off part of my skin and there was a mouse pad of barely clad women. And naturally, they magically produced an entire armful of leashes then. If I were not a full time working Mom I might have turned around and left when they said there were no leashes but I don't have much calendar flexibility. The support of a slave loving General pictured on the walls (twice) and pictures of almost naked women in the back room confirms that these people are NOT the sort I want my dollars supporting!! We took our 4 month old golden retriever puppy to see Dr. Timmons for his vaccines and some GI issues. I've had bad vet experiences in the past, but things are not the same here! Dr. Timmons is so sweet and very thorough when explaining what she's doing and what the plan is with you pet. We have since had to call with questions concerning the GI issues and she called back and spoke to me for quite some time about how we would resolve our puppy's issues. Definitely a wonderful vet!! I went to the vet with a new puppy who was scratching and biting at her fur and they found out what it was(mites) and the vet told me I had a few options to get rid of them and that the women at the front desk would let me know. When I went out there to checkout the only option the women was giving me details about was the baths that they could give her which would cost $74 for the first and $59 for each after(about 6 were needed) she wouldn't share details about any of treatment even after I asked her. It was clear that all she cared about was getting me to come back and give them over $300. I went home and did my own research and to find that I could buy the shampoo that they have a give her the baths myself for $100. I felt as though the vet and women at the front desk only cared about getting me to come back and spend a lot more money than I needed to. Also I heard the vet and nurse talking in the next room while I was in the vets office and the nurse said I was a first time pet owner...I've owned dogs my entire life...yes this is the first puppy that I have taken care of by myself but I'm plenty familiar with the basics of taking care of dogs. We recently adopted a puppy from Molly's Militia. They recommended Dr. Wilkes as a smart, well-priced vet. (I've heard St. Francis is very expensive.) Everyone is very nice. It was easy to schedule an appointment. The waiting room time was very short. My pup looooves Dr. Wilkes even though he gets scared anytime he's somewhere unfamiliar. Dr. Wilkes was patient and answered all of my "first time mom" questions. I've only been in for vaccines and well visits, but I like Westside Animal Hospital a lot. Read Less
