ALWAYS...a GREAT experience at PVH. I called the morning before and was told to come in the next morning and they would work me in. True to their word the wait was not long at all considering they were VERY busy when I arrived. Lacey was so kind and compassionate while gathering the patient info that was needed. Dr. Jessica Hood took all the time in the world to explain things to me and set my mind at ease to go forward with treatment options. I didn't feel for a moment that I was rushed through in order to get to the next patient. I absolutely love this vets office!!! They give amazing care to the animals they see. They treated my dog who was a cancer patient with all the respect they would treat a person. She had a leg amputated here in an effort to save her life and it was expertly performed by Dr Mike. When we eventually had to put her down later they were amazing! They sent a wonderful card from the staff and her paw prints they had taken the day we put her down. Each person I’ve dealt with here has been top notch and I won’t take my pets anywhere else. The receptionist is far from informing on basic questions to people new to the area as far as dr. Recommended, price, and required. We have 2 dogs with special needs and this family owned animal hospital takes really good care of them. The staff is the best, hard workers and really care about the pets. Short version: Love this office! They were kind and knowledgeable. I will never go anywhere else! All I can is wow!!!! I was late to my appointment and they didn't even care. Not a practice I recommend but I appreciate how kind they were about it. As soon as I walked in I got a huge smile and they figured out who I was by getting to know my dog. It only took a few minutes to be seen and the doggy equivalent of a nurse took the time to just pet him and say hello before checking his weight. They asked all the normal questions and gave me great advice. When the vet came in my dog PANICKED and they literally spent five minutes just calming him down. They weren't aggressive with him and made his check up quick and painless. The vet answered all of my questions and never made me feel silly. Everyone in this office is a true dog lover. My husband and I just moved to the area and brought our dog, Walter, to Pooler Veterinary Hospital for his yearly check up. Dr. Mike and his staff are AMAZING. They fit us in when we had to reschedule and were so nice. We've had bad experiences with vets in the past and are so happy we finally found a new one we love! Dr. Mike gave a very thorough examination and even took the time to show us how to clip Walter's dew claws and go over his blood work with us. Dr. Mike answered all of our questions and never made us feel like there was a rush and that we were wasting his time. I don't write reviews, but The Pooler Veterinary Hospital is a godsend - 5 stars doesn't do them justice. My husband and I adopted our cat, Mouse, in September. We took her to Banfield in Savannah once we discovered she had worms and an ear infection since they were they only vet open on a Sunday. However, it was towards the end of the day and we definitely felt rushed. A few months later, the ear infection came back so we took her to the Pooler Veterinary Hospital. During the first visit, Dr. Myra Burnsed was already discussing options if the infection returned again, which let me know she truly cared about the long-term well-being of my fur baby despite this being a minor issue in the grand scheme of things. I called this morning for a last minute Saturday appointment and they were very accommodating. We were seen by Dr. Mike Ammermon who showed equal concern for what seems to be a skin allergy. They handled her very gently and with great care, which is hugely important to me. They're really trying to get to the source of the problem rather than simply pumping her full of medication to make the itch go away temporarily (which I have seen done to many pets, many times, by many vets before). They have a very nice facility, great staff, and will do more than just mask the symptoms of your pet's condition. Thank you for caring for Mouse and making our experience as stress-free as possible! Dr. Ammermon is the best veterinarian I have came across in the Pooler area. Initially went to his practice for a second opinion in regards to a torn CCL in my dog. My original vet only gave me the option of a TPLO whereas Dr. Ammermon allowed me to explore other options before committing to surgery. He ended up performing the TTA procedure with amazing results thus far (week 3). Everyone in this establishment is very professional and more than willing to answer any of my questions with educated responses. I will recommend this practice to anyone who inquires. *Week 12 update as promised* As always, the staff was more than willing to assist with the final checkup from the TTA surgery. Dr. Ammermon was very helpful in explaining what was happening. The bone was fully healed around the implants and my dog was released back to off-leash activities. Since my house is 90% tile, this is a godsend on her happiness. I had let her walk around the house a little before the visit just to get used to walking on a slick surface and she seemed to be dealing with it well. The only odd thing about this appointment was that I was not placed in a waiting room but rather waited in the lobby. This wasn't a big deal as I figured the appointment was just to verify everything was ok. I had the doctor check a red spot on her belly that ended up being yeast along with trim her nails while they had her. Overall impression of this situation was more than pleasant and all my animals will only go to Pooler Veterinary Hospital due to how they operate. Read Less

I haven't even gone into see this vet yet and I had to write a review. I am new to this town and live alone with my two sweet cats. This evening my youngest seemed to be sick so I called and left a message after 9pm to see if I could get her in in the morning. They called me back at 10:15, to my surprise, to let me know they had received my message and I could bring her in tomorrow morning! I'm brand new to the area, and I brought my cat here for a check-up today, after checking Yelp of course. The vet and vet tech were both very knowledgeable, and so very sweet. The building and grounds are gorgeous and spotless, and we didn't have to wait for our appointment, like I always do at the human doctor. Dr. Mike Ammermon and his staff have been absolutely incredible during my experience. There are always unfortunate circumstances that arise and my dog had to have knee surgery (that I didn't even know existed), and Dr. Mike Ammermon spent plenty of time with me over the phone explaining the procedure and what would take place the weeks following. He has called every time he told me he would and made sure to make me feel at ease about the entire situation. Surgery is never an easy thing to handle (and I hope this doesn't have to happen), but if for any reason my dog or any one I know needed surgery for their dog, I would refer Dr. Ammermon to them without a second thought. THE best pet healthcare in the area. I have just been through a very long hard chronic problem that came to recent surgery with my White German Shepherd and I had the best care I didn't even imagine getting with Dr. Mike and his staff. I am SO glad I found a Great vet. I am newer to the area, live alone, and challenged without close family and friends to rely on yet. I was immediately impressed with his compassionate, caring, judge-free demeanor and experienced knowledge that he easily conveyed. Dr. Mike took lots of extra time with me educating and discussing Jasmine's case, was very thorough and told me all the options, yet was not at all pushy, let me decide what steps I was comfortable taking at the moment. When I decided the surgery option he got me in very soon as it became urgent and I was very impressed with the good looking incision and outcome. He went far above and beyond with me today, Christmas day, and I will be forever grateful. I wish he were My doctor. Haven't got as good of care yet from any I've been to here. Lol! I have never visited your practice but our family friend brought in her 6 week old Rottweiler puppy, Bear, as an emergency visit yesterday. Dr. Myra went above and beyond to save his little life. She even gave him a blood transfusion from her OWN family's dog. She was wonderful to an 11 year old boy who wasn't sure his puppy would survive the night. Saying "thank you" doesn't seem nearly enough. The fact that Bear survived the night and is at home with his family right now is a miracle. God Bless You. Read Less

If you are looking for a vet that will love your pets like their own, you have found the right place. I took my dog Gracie here after two unsuccessful surgeries. Dr.Mike and Dr. Myra were so kind and loving to Gracie and to me. They were honest about what kind of surgery Gracie needed and how much it would cost. When Gracie wouldn't eat after surgery, they hand fed her and Dr. Mike even took the time to hold her and ice her knees. It is obvious they love what they do.
