The staff at Mars Hill are easily the most compassionate and nicest I have ever dealt with. The first time I had to take Chip we just rescued him from animal control and he had a tapeworm and so it was pretty gross and pretty scary. Dr. Gross and his staff have been nothing but amazing to all my dogs. I have 4 of my own dogs and always a foster puppy. They have ALL gone out of their way to make sure my dogs best interest comes first. I have 4 vets within a 15 minutes radius of my house and I travel 30 minutes to MHAS. From the initial phone call to make our first appointment to the process of our dog's surgical spay and follow up, we knew we were in good hands. We received follow up phone calls and assistance with unloading our large dog for follow up. We were offered drinks and kept comfortable while our dog having procedures done. The office is huge and very clean, absolutely no animal smells at all. Going there feels like going home. Tomorrow we take our cat for his first visit there and will be taking our dog back for her final recheck from her surgery! I'm excited to see how our cat will behave in the car with the dog? I took my 15 year old cat to Mars Hill as referred by a neighbor and they took us right in on a Saturday morning without an appointment. Everyone was really friendly and even though I got some not so great news they were very compassionate. They treated my cat and she seems so much better in just few hours. We treat our two dogs as family, and would do anything for them.  Dr. Gross obviously feels the same way--he treats them like he would a human patient.  He explains every procedure completely, and considers every available option.  We'd never go anyplace else.  And as for the cost--what price can you put on your best friend's care?  This place is worth every penny. Had such a great experience there while we were passing through during my husband's leave visiting family. Everyone was so friendly and they treated our girl, Ellie wonderfully! Dr. Gross has been my pets' vet ever since I moved to Athens in 1998. Not only is Dr. Gross amazing, but all of the staff and other doctors are as well. I like the fact that I see the same faces year after year. I like that they also show an interest in my personal life, always asking how my kiddos are doing and how my business is going. EXPENSIVE.  It was very hard to go there without spending three or four hundred dollars.  When I didn't get blood work everytime on my perfectly healthy dog, they acted as if I was abusing my dog.  Ridiculous. Read Less

Staff is outstanding with addressing questions, concerns, and has been so compassionate in the sad times......we recently had to say goodbye to a 17 year pet.
