Don't let the exterior fool you. This vet with Dr Weist and Dr Harris are excellent vets who are more concerned about pets and their owners than the furniture in the lobby. I adopted a puppy from a shelter and they gave me a coupon for a free check-up visit with this vet within 30 days. When I mentioned to the lady that I adopted the puppy from a shelter she immediately had an attitude. Don't offer a free check up for an adopted animal if you won't treat the owner like a paying customer. My husband called after me and didn't mention adopting the puppy from the shelter and there was no attitude. I will pay for my puppy, anything it needs, but why would I pass up a free checkup where I can see if I like the vet and want to continue a relationship with them? I called another vet and they were super nice. Read Less

We took our dog, Tony, here for his first checkup and visit (it's five minutes from our home). The staff is so caring and attentive! All of the vets are sincere about giving your pet the best care possible. We've been back several times this year for shots and boarding, and every visit is affordable. Unlike other people, I appreciate that the place is a bit older because they're not kicking high rent prices back to the customers. We're the type of people who people make fun of because we treat our dogs like they are our children (they sleep with us, go on some of our vacations, and are basically spoiled from attention). We came across Chamblee Animal Hospital randomly when we first moved to Atlanta 8 years ago. We were headed out of town on a 4th of July weekend, and most kennels (including our then regular vet, Inman) were full, but after about 15 calls to other kennels, we called Chamblee and they had space. The dog seemed to really enjoy it and Chamblee was much less expensive than Inman so we decided to use them as our full time vet/kennel, despite the drive. Last year, our Golden Retriever was diagnosed with cancer. UGA (the lab that Chamblee uses) indicated it was an extremely high grade tumor. Chamblee recommended chemo and radiation and referred us to Auburn, UGA or one of the specialists in town. At best she was looking at 6 months to 2 years, even with the treatment, and we didn't want to put her through it, so we opted for a less aggressive therapy, hoping we'd get more quality time with her. They respected our wishes and my wife took Hannah (our Golden) to several cancer treatments(injections specific to the tumors). The few surgeries she had to remove tumors were well done with almost no scarring left over and she lived14 months 13 of which she was completely herself. The vet techs were great. One of them had her entire church praying for Hannah. Near the end another vet tech came in on her off day just to see how Hannah was doing. The final decision to put her to sleep was one of the hardest I have ever made but she had gotten very sick and was in pain. Despite having no appointment, they basically shut the entire office down, so everyone could be with us and her when she passed away. A week later we received a very nice card that the entire office had signed and wrote nice things about Hannah in. We would never consider using anyone else. Read Less

The level of incompetence at this vet is nearly incomprehensible. Last Wednesday we had our new puppy in for her initial check-up at this office (we picked her up from the pound the day before). She was experiencing nausea, no appetite, sluggishness, and bloody stool. When we picked up our puppy, all the vet prescribed for her besides amoxicillin, was Heartgard Plus for testing positive for hookworm. We immediately gave the dog the meds, but she promptly regurgitated those back up within minutes. We told the vet and picked up addl meds the next day (in liquid form), but she regurgitated those up too. We told the vet and the response was ""I'm not sure what to do"". Her symptoms were exponentially worse the following day and wasn't even drinking water, so we took her to the emergency room at Pets Are People Too. After we told the doc that came in what her symptoms were he IMMEDIATELY said that she had the deadly Parvo virus. They did the test and it came back positive right away. Per their recommendations, we immediately started treatment of sub-cutaneous fluids, antibiotics, and plasma infusions. Despite the valiant efforts of the docs there, less than 60 hours after being seen by ""doc"" harris at chamblee animal hospital, the cute, friendly, smart pup died. Subsequent follow-up with harris today as to why she didn't suspect and/or test for Parvo, especially considering she came from a pound, was 1) She didn't have the symptoms of parvo (which is completely dumbfounding), and 2) They DON'T HAVE PARVO TESTS at their office!. Good grief! You're supposed to be a freaking vet for gods sake! Bottom line, had a proper diagnosis been made at the initial visit, odds were immense (per the docs at Pets Are People too) that she would have fully recovered. It was just too advanced by the time they first saw her. Stay away from chamblee animal hospital....please. Read Less

Read Less
