I recently moved to the area and had to find a new vet for my dog. She always has a very difficult time at the vet and it is usually a challenge to say the least. Dr. Davis and the vet tech (I wish I knew her name.) were so great with her and worked very hard to make her comfortable while performing the exam. I went in today because this place was recommended to me for boarding services. I never being to this place before so this is my honest review. As soon as I walked in the smell hit me. I understand is normal for a place to smell like dog specially if they offer boarding services but this place is two small so the smell is 5 times worse. The reception area is really small and there was a few dogs and one of them was showing aggressive behavior towards the others and nobody say nothing the owner then decided to wait outside with the dog. There was a guy taking care of the dogs that were staying there so every time he goes in and out and open the door that goes towards the boarding area the smell was even worse. By the moment I walked in I knew that I will never let my dog stay there. The way the place looks inside and the smell shows lack of cleanliness. Overall this looked to me like the Ghetto vet place that everybody goes to. I guess according to the reviews here because is cheaper but I end up leaving that place really quick and found a way better place in Macon Rd that offers pick up on Sunday so they don’t charge an extra night. Vet on Ft. Benning does not board, so we tried this place since it was close to gate. So glad we boarded our not too social mutt here . Staff is so patient and caring. We took Muttly back to board the second weekend and everyone was just as friendly as the previous time so I believe they are genuinely interested in each and every pet and owner. Thank you! It was my first time ever bringing one of my animals to this office and the staff welcomed me and even made me feel like I was a well established long time pet parent with their facility. I brought in my daughter's rabbit for Dr. Keri Riddick-D.V.M. to see, she was great and helped me with my rabbits ear infection. She's very knowledgeable and works extremely well with exotics. I highly recommend this Veterinary establishment. I will definitely be using this Vet office for all of my pet care needs, both domestic and exotic. Dr Davis at Benning Rd got it right the first time, even sending us to a compounding pharmacy to get just the right meds needed. I will never utilize this vet or boarding house again. I took my puppies here on July 29th. Due to an internal issue they never took the payment out of my account. That's fine but you don't call someone almost a month later talking about you are going to process the payment now. What if my account in not able to allow you to do that? First of all, THIS IS NOT THE POST VET, even though the name is a little deceiving. I'm not sure how this place received 5 stars. We have had problems since day 1 with this vet, and we have NEVER had issues with a vet before. It's not so much the actual veterinarians as it is the front desk staff. The first time I booked to board my dogs, I made the appointment over a month in advance. The day before my trip, I got a call from the vet asking to schedule an appointment to drop my dogs off. Who has ever heard of making a time slot to drop off your pet?? We had needed to leave first thing the next morning, but apparently people had already taken the first couple hours of slots for the next morning to drop their dogs off. We ended up having to drop our dogs off the night before AND paying for the extra day. Also, whenever we dropped them off, the staff member who took them back seemed to could care less about our animals, even when trying to tell him the amount of food each dog gets and in which bowl. One of the biggest problems this vet has is its receptionists. They always interrupt and never allow you to speak what you have to say. They have never been very helpful at all. Being a military family, we have had to go to many different vets, and this is by FAR the worst experience.Read Less

We recently moved to Columbus and I needed to find a new vet. My puppy has been having skin issues for a few months now and our previous vet never resolved the issue. Dr. Davis was SO kind and so helpful in trying to make a plan work physically for my puppy and financially for our family. The vet tech and the doctor were both so loving toward my baby and he LOVED them both, which does not happen very often! He is usually very skiddish. They spent a lot of time with me and I felt we were cared about, not just a money machine as I had felt at our previous vet, Banfield. Not to mention the staff out front was very helpful and I could tell they were trying their best to get a full history to know what was going on with him. I am so happy I found this vet!! I have been going to Benning Animal for over five years. I would not trust my pets with anyone else. When I almost lost one of my babies to an immune deficiency disorders, they did their best and went above and beyond to make sure he had the best care. Two years later he is alive and well. I don't know what I would have done without Dr. Riddick and the great staff at that clinic, they are so clean and I never have to worry about any of my babies having any issues. Even when I go out of town the kennel team is the best Reggie always makes me feel comfortable with leaving my fur babies. Even to this day when I have to go back for follow ups Chrissy always makes sure where taken care of and there are no issues. I am so grateful to have this clinic. We recently adopted a dog and had to get her rabies shot asap so we were referred to this place. The staff was super friendly and they were very helpful in helping me fill out the paperwork (since my hands were full with a crazy dog and even crazier baby). I decided to inquire about getting her micro chipped and they offered to have it done right then and there as well. Awesome staff. I took a stray cat I rescued and adopted in my neighborhood right before Christmas here to get spayed and declawed since it was close to Fort Benning. However, I took her to another vet for her post-op near my parents house since I was going home for Christmas and I learned that the vet at Benning Animal Hospital did a really bad job on the declaw and the dosage of antibiotic they told me to give her was about a third of what she needed. I was skeptical about getting my pit bull pups ears cropped here because of all the bad reviews I found online, and the extremely low price I was quoted (in comparison to quotes I received in my areas, northwest Atlanta). This place was recommend by a family member that I trust as well so I called and talked with staff and expressed my concerns, and they assured me that I would receive top notch service despite the reviews so I took a chance.I have to say that I ecstatic with the service I received from scheduling the appointment, the procedure, to the follow up appointment. My pup was in very good spirits when I picked her up and when I took her home she had complications and no pain that I could see. As a precaution the day before her follow up to take the stitches out I took her to my regular vet and she was also impressed with with their work and said the cropping looked great. When I took my pup back for her follow up the vet who performed the procedure had a lengthy conversation with in which my wife and I expressed our complete satisfaction.It was well worth the 2.5 hour drive there and back to get this procedure done. I would absolutely recommend anyone to take their dog there to get the cropping done. If/when I need to get another dogs ears cropped this will be the only place I contact. Read Less

My husband and I tried many vet places in the Columbus area trying to find one that cares about the animal. Our puppy has demodex mange, and when we got her had really bowed front paws. Benning animal hospital was the only place that we truly felt satisfied with the service and confident with the information from the veterinarian. Dr. Riddick sat with us and answered all our questions and even went above and beyond and gave us medicine shampoo to help with our puppies demodex. They aren't expensive and the staff is very friendly. Most places that I went to looked at our puppy like she was ugly or sick, not seeing how happy and playful she is. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because their building needs to be remodeled. The interior and exterior look outdated, other than that we love the place!! Read Less

WONDERFUL!I'm really not sure what's up with all the negative reviews.  I guess people have very different experiences that what I've had.  We have a cat and a dog and have taken them both here.  I admit when someone recommended this vet to me I was hesitant because of the location (maybe I'm a snob).  But I trusted the people recommending this place to me so I went and I absolutely LOVE Dr. Riddick.  After having negative experiences at another vet in town, which I won't name (they "treated" my dog without even once touching her), I was so pleased to find that Dr. Riddick was super knowledgeable, really personable and spent a full hour with me talking about my dog's IBS (which, because of Dr. Riddick, was finally properly diagnosed and treated).  I recommend Dr. Riddick to anyone and schedule my appointments (if possible) only when she can see my dog or cat. The only reason I gave this 4 stars and not 5 is because I once saw a young female vet there for my cat and was not satisfied with her - she was timid, scared of my cat, and seemed to do a lot of guessing at what was wrong.  I'd recommend only seeing Dr. Riddick.I never felt "gouged" for money or unnecessary tests, but I'll admit we love our dog like a child and take no chances when it comes to her health.Having said all that, I cannot speak to their kenneling facility.And no, I do not work for Benning and am not receiving payment or kickback for this.  I just happened to google them to find the phone number and saw the negative reviews.  Really wanted to offer an alternative perspective. BEWARE! They say you get what you pay for, but with this place you couldn't be further from the case. After taking my dog in repeatedly for a recurring limp for over a year, spending nearly a thousand dollars over the course,  we were told every time she's fine, just needs to lose some weight. The limp came back while on vacation and took her to another vet out of state. That vet quickly diagnosed her with a recurrent ACL and observed it had likely been injured repeatedly for quite some time. Now she requires a several thousand dollar surgery or risks damaging the other leg as well, and even if they can repair the ACL they will never be able to cure the severe arthritis caused by the fact that she didn't get early treatment. My poor dog will now suffer in pain for the rest of her life due to their neglect. I am beyond angry, I am positively LIVID and will never trust them again!! If you love your pets, keep looking! We have been boarding our dog here for a couple of years, and always have a good experience!  They know him and really seem to care about him.  Yes, sometimes there are lots of people waiting so the time it takes to drop off/pick up might be long.  I was not asked to purchase anything on top of what I originally went there for when my dog was seen in an "emergency" situation, where I needed him to be seen on the weekend.  I received the medicine he needed and was quite pleased with the level of service we were given.  I definitely recommend them for both boarding and veterinary services! ALSO never again.  Boarded our two large dogs for three nights over the weekend in their 'deluxe' option.  Seemed sweet and nice when we got there, but when we picked them up... I really, really should have listened to the reviews vs word of mouth. I feel horrible that I left them there even for a second.Both dogs came back smelling like pee and BOTH dogs have UTI symptoms, straining to pee involuntary urination while asleep, etc. (Last night was fun, let me frigging tell you.)  One dog has some kind of fungus on his foot; treatable at home, but obviously pretty painful for the poor guy.  He won't stop crying and trying to nip it.  So at least they fed them (or at any rate they gave me back empty food bags), but clearly they didn't actually let them out more than once a day, and clearly they don't give a shit if the dogs mess their own 'deluxe' kennels.I am beyond furious.  No one who cares about their animals should take them there.  I haven't used their veterinary services, and given how badly this went, I have zero confidence in that side of the business as well. I have been with this vet for about 5 to 6 years. Not the closest vet to me but, I will not take my pet anywhere else!! I just happened to go there when my regular vet was not open and I had a sick puppy. I was very impressed with how the staff and vets where so caring and went out of their way to make us feel at ease .They were so kind and efficient. They did everything they could to help our baby and she is a happy healthy girl now. I think the vet bills are reasonably priced for all the attention we get. They follow up and call me at home to see how my pets are doing. I have been raising dogs for years and refer everyone to them. I have been going to Benning Animal Hospital for about 6 yrs now and love them. They have always been wonderful with all of my animals be it just routine shots or some type of emergency. Dr. Riddick and Dr. Harris have always done everything they can to help with whatever might be wrong with my babies. They go over and above to make sure your pets are taken care of. We had a 10 1/2 y old dog that became very ill and they did everything they could to make sure he was comfortable while we figured out what was wrong. They went over and above to help our baby. We were able to get another few weeks with him and then when he did finally pass they were very helpful in setting up all the arangements for our baby to be cremated. We have been taking all of our animals to Benning Animal Hospital for over 2 years now and we have always liked them. The staff is friendly, always helpful, and you can tell that they really do care. I would have always recommended them to anyone, but it's only been in the past 36 hours that I will swear to you that they really are the best Vet I have ever come in contact with. Our two dogs got out of the fence two days ago and went so far that they couldn't find their way home. We drove for hours and hours that first night trying to find them, and we did find one, but our Chase, who was mine and my husbands wedding present to each other could not be found. I had called Benning Animal Hospital to give them a heads up that Chase was missing, because their phone number is on his tags. All I expected them to do was give me a call if someone found Chase and called the number on his tag. The Benning Animal Hospital staff went above and beyond anything I could have ever imagined they would do. Without me asking, they made their own flyers, called all the local pounds and shelters, and two staff members even came to my house and drove around my area to help me look for Chase. After, we talked to anyone and everyone who was outside, and put posters up, the word started getting out and a few different people spotted Chase in the same field about a mile away from our house, and that is where we finally found our boy! I can not thank everyone at Benning Animal Hospital enough for helping us during such a terrible time and showing the same concern and effort in Chase's search and rescue. I'm only sorry that we are military, and will not be in the Fort Benning area forever because I can't imagine ever finding another staff as caring as this one. Never again.  The location is convenient to Fort Benning.  That is about the only positive.  Plan on waiting 20-30 minutes just to drop your pet off.  On the flip side, plan on waiting longer to pick him up.  You have to pay when you drop off your pet for a bath or anything routine, which is probably due to the fact that they do a poor job and don't want you to refuse payment.  They will try to sell you anything, and by the way - WAY overpriced!!!   Avoid this place. Our chihuahua 'Itty-Bit' had a double hernia that needed surgery. Dr. Riddick was so sweet with her, she knew right away what all needed to be done, she explained every part of the procedure ahead of time, and she even gave her something to calm her down and let us stay and love her until she was comfortable (to make seperation easier) before surgery. When we left our baby right before the surgery, she was comfortable and at ease, which made it much easier on our family. When we picked her up the next morning, she was happy to see us, and she didn't act distressed over the situation. She has never been boarded, so this was a very tense time for us, but Dr. Riddick calmed our anxieties as much as Itty-Bit's. Her care and concern go beyond the pet. A couple of months later we were back with our other chihuahua 'Tigger' with some unusual knots on her stomach that Dr. Riddick said had the appearance of a particular type of mammory tumor, but before we could even get concerned about the possibility of tumors, she said ""I just want to get a better look at this, is it ok if I take a little fluid out of them and look at it under the microscope before we do anything else?"" Before she jumped into an expensive surgery, she drew fluid, looked at it herself, and sent it to a lab to double check her own findings, and they were not tumors. There was nothing to worry about, and she calmed my nerves before I even had a chance to get upset. She gave me the option to remove the knots if I wanted to, but it wasn't necessary, just cosmetic. She loves her 'people' clients, as well as, her 'pet' clients. Anyone who meets Dr. Riddick can tell how much she loves animals.
