Very disappointed in the professionalism, spitefulness, and integrity of Dr. Boone. Our dog recently developed Mastitis during her 3rd week of nursing. We took her to Dr. Boone on a Monday following a visit to the Animal Hospital on Manchester€ Expressway which was also a mistake. He prescribed her Antibiotics which we were grateful for, 750mg of Cephalexin twice a day, and confirmed she had developed Mastitis. We followed every treatment to the standard at home, cold and hot compress, massaging, and never missed a pill. By Wednesday her condition had got worse so we took her back. Dr. Boone wasn't there so we had to see Dr. Wylie. She confirmed her condition had worsened and prescribed our dog some pain killers as well. We asked for a culture and to switch antibiotics but were told it wouldn't change the situation so we took our dog back home and continued treatment. Thursday afternoon I noticed her Mastitis ruptured, (teat exploded). My wife immediately called Dr. Boone and explained to him what was going on. He told us to bring in our dog right away. My wife asked him if he could take care of our dog, meaning surgery if needed and so on, or if we should just go to Auburn since we live over a hour away from each Vet and time isn't on our side right now. He assured her that he could take complete care of our dog. We arrived at his office and after waiting 20 minutes with our bleeding dog that has a 1/2 inch hole on the side of her teat he finally decided to see us. He confirmed what my wife told him over the phone was correct and then proceed to tell us that she needed immediate surgery to cut off any dead tissue, drain the puss from her teat and then close the hole. We said ok lets do it. He replied with " oh, I can't do it, you have to go to Auburn. We both became immediately fustrated and asked him why did he have us drive a hour to him with our bleeding dog when we could drove a hour straight to Auburn. He said he had to "refer" us to Auburn which is a complete lie. Auburn will confirm it just call and ask. So, after telling him he is incorrect, I pick up my dog, walk out and we start driving to Auburn. On the way to Auburn we called Dr. Boone back to see if they could send our dogs medical records to Auburn and give them a short brief of what is going on. He replied with, well, since you don't need my referral you can call them. Not only is that spiteful but that's unbecoming as well. We then call Auburn and ask them to call Dr. Boone office and please try to get the records. Auburn called 3 different times as were not able to get our dogs records faxed over. Next, we get to Auburn, they get our dog fixed up and it turns out she didn't need surgery. Dr. Boone was proven to be incorrect on his choice of Antibiotic, his treatment plan for a ruptured teat, and if a dog can or can not nurse puppies while having Mastitis.
The bottom line, the issue I have is, I understand a Dr can be less knowledgeable€/experienced than others and that's fine. But when you intentionally neglect/ignore us because you get your feelings hurt for being told your wrong and neglect your duties as a vet to send records over for a time sensitive issue that could kill my dog, then me and you (Dr. Boone) we have a problem.
We will not be spending anymore of the hundreds of dollars we already have at Double Churches. I would love to speak to the owner of this establishment about how Dr. Boone treats Veterans and their animals.
I also have no problem talking to Dr. Boone face to face.
Thank you. Read Less
