We've loved our experience at Northside Animal Hospital so far. The staff is always so kind & helpful and the Veterinarians are awesome. My dog had some serious health issues last year and everyone we came in contact with at Northside Animal Hospital was so reassuring & generally great people. I have a one year old retriever, and I had just visited this place today. First of all, I know my dog has anxiety, we have been introducing him to new dogs ever since he was a pup. However, he does get anxious easily. He would not go in to the hospital; we asked for help to get him inside. The lady came outside and DRAGGED him inside by his collar. We had a harness put on him and his leash was on his harness and all. We have an electric fence for him to run around and play so he had a electric collar around his neck which only beeps when he gets too close. This lady (will not mention her name) dragged him inside, and I have NEVER heard him screech this way in my life. This was pure animal abuse, screaming and dragging him to the no good place. When we got in, he was so scared and literally trembling. The doctors barely examined him (they didn’t even listen to his heart; being a physician myself, I know how to examine and she didn’t even listen to his heart, nor check his ears, height, weight, nothing. The staff (except that lady) were friendly but it did seem like they were trying to get this over with and just go back inside, they didn’t even ask if we had questions at the end)I am definitely looking to switch hospitals and I HIGHLY recommend you to NOT go here. The first time that I came to Northside Animal Hospital it was very packed in the parking lot and, to be honest, I was thinking the worst as far as a long wait. Upon entering we were promptly greeted and checked in. They treated my pup so well. We were in a exam room within minutes, he had immunizations, an exam, tests, and we were in and out in less than 30 minutes I believe. The vet was wonderful with him as was all of the staff. The prices were good imo as well. I have lived in numerous states and always felt taken advantage of in the past but not today. Thank you for the wonderful service today. We were visiting Columbus, GA from out of state and our Dalmatian got extremely sick on our trip. We found this vet clinic based off their positive online reviews and they definitely exceeded our expectations. Dr. John Bloszies was so comforting and really took the time to explain everything to us. We were quick to be seen but didn't feel rushed once we were in the office. Prices were comparable with other vet offices but we appreciated that he didn't push us to get X-rays or anything "extra", which we initially thought we would have to do. He also gave us his business card and asked us to check in with him and let us know how our dog was doing the next day, which really shows how he cares about his patients. I brought my chihuahua Twiggy in for an emergency. Her eye had come out of its socket. This is not our typical vet but they were open when we needed them. Everyone was so fantastic. This is a great place with amazing doctors and staff!! They have saved my neighbors dog! She'd eaten muscle relaxers and went into a comma and was in critical condition. We have been taking our dogs to Northside for over 20 years. 4 years ago our precious boxer started having seizures on a Sunday. The emergency ey on Manchester sedated him and told us he had cancer and would have to be put down. I told them I would be there to pick up my baby on Monday morning and take him to my vet. The staff at Northside met me at the car and helped carry my baby in and we were thankfully able to have one more year with him. The day he was passing I called ...and Dr. Claridy and one of the techs came to my house to help us, my husband had just had knee replacement surgery. A month ago our seeet Reesie stopped eating and drinking. He had an infection in his mouth and was starting to go into kidney failure. I've been going to Northside for over 20 years with all my pets. And have never thought of going any place else with my pet care. Until now, I was just there this past Friday (2/16) having all 3 of my dogs bathed. And included with the cost of those baths they are suppose to have nails clipped and ears cleaned. I'm sorry and disappointed to say that the condition of all of there ears shows nothing was done to clean them. I've since cleaned them myself and will think twice before I pay for services that I'm told were done but obviously were not. Read Less

Our two and half year old cocker spaniel needed emergency surgery after swallowing coins. They never disclosed to us that no one is there to monitor sick or recovering animals who are advised to stay overnight. They checked him at 7:30 in the evening and then he was left alone until 7:30 AM THE NEXT DAY. At which time he was unresponsive. I've read that Dogs can require intensive supportive care after being poisoned by swallowing coins - Including an IV to flush their kidneys and often times a blood transfusion for the anemia. I have been using Northside for my Rottweilers since 2010. The doctors are all caring, intelligent and easy to talk to. I had to put down my 9 year old Rottweiler after he was diagnosed with cancer in his spine and liver. They stayed with my husband and I after hours so we could say goodbye to Rocky and be with him while they put him to sleep. They sent us a sweet card for our loss. They helped us get him cremated. I cannot say enough good things for them helping us through such a horrible experience. They are very reasonably priced. They are always SUPER BUSY, but to me they are worth it. Read Less

I’ve been coming to Northside for a long time now. First for my aunts dog Maddie that I was very attached to, and then for my three babies as the fur family grew. My aunts dog passed away earlier this year, and we lost our sweet cat earlier this year, but still come in regularly for baths/nail trims/checkups etc. for my two rescued pit bull mixes. Our 4 1/2 year old Presley started limping and whimpering which led me to bringing her in to get checked out. Through X-rays we fo...und out that she has pretty progressive arthritis in her neck which was causing pain when there was pressure from her walking. It’s made so many things make sense that didn’t before. It was my first personal experience with Dr. White after seeing Dr. Hall for years. I absolutely loved her!! She was extremely thorough, she didn’t rush through explaining how to take care of her, she gave her meds and set up a plan to help her maintain and manage living with arthritis since there is no cure. She also gave me something to help with her skin allergies which was much appreciated (too soon to know if it will work or not). I hate seeing my baby in pain, but so glad to Know what’s wrong and what approach we can take to giving her the best life possible. I can’t say enough good things about Dr. White. When we got out first dogs in 2003 Northside was recommended to us. We have had 3 dogs and have had excellent service and care. When it was time for each of our first two dogs to cross the rainbow bridge, they were great, very caring and compassionate. We are now down to 1 dog and she just had surgery there. They were all great. Dr. Clardy took the time to explain everything before and after. My review is for Dr White at Northside.. we did not have a good experience with her however we've loved Dr Brown and Dr Clardy. We will be sure to request them when we return.. My husband took our dog in last week because he woke up on Thursday morning and we noticed he could not move one of his eyes. When we brought him in Dr White gave him meds for an ear infection and said there was pressure in the eye and it should go down. Took him back the next day because we are very ...concerned and he still couldn't move his eye - Dr Brown said there is nothing she can do and she would refer us to an ophthalmologist only she was not able to do it that day and she would call us back. Now, it's been almost a week and we have yet to receive a call from her with an appt and our dog's eye has not improved. Today was the first time I visited the hospital and I was so glad that I did. I have two children, a 3 year old and a 10 month year old. As I got my children out of the car, a receptionist greeted me and asked if she could help grab my pup. She said she saw me take out my double stroller over the camera. It was extremely kind for her to come out and help me. We were checked in and taken right into an exam room. My pup saw Dr White, who gave him his vaccinations while giving him some love too, he didn't even notice the shots were given. Our whole visit took us 20 minutes! So not what I expected for a walk in clinic! I brought waters, snacks, and toys for the children; thinking we'd be there for at least an hour. My old vet got to where it took a month to even get an appt so I switched to Northside and I've been able to walk in without an appt both times I've been and be seen in less then 10 minutes! Amazing. Our family has a new vet. Even though we were not established patients they saw our sick dog right at closing time on a Saturday. The staff was kind and friendly and Dr. Clardy not only took great care of our fur baby he took the time to talk to us and make sure we understood exactly what he was doing and what to do when we got her home. Is this place a joke?! My friend brought a dog in who showed up at his doorstep in terrible condition to try to find the owners. He agreed to pay the bill if the owners were not found, as well as give the poor animal a home. Luckily the owners were found, it looked like everything was going to have a happy ending. Instead my friend gets a phone call from the clinic, and is yelled at and insulted by the veterian trying to intimidate my friend into paying the owners' fees. I like coming in without an appointment. My cat had trouble pooping and I knew it had gotten bad when I took him in. After a lecture on fiber from one dr, then one week later a dr checked him and said there was no blockage by feeling him, home again I went with my poor cat that I knew was beyond fiber, yogurt etc. finally after sleepless nights I took him back and got a dr that listened. She immediately did X-rays with my permission and found a severely clogged up kitty. Instant action by x raying him like he should have been weeks earlier. My kitty is still there and hopefully will come home tomorrow. Guess next time I need to kick and scream for them to understand what I know about my furry child. On Tuesday I took my puppy to Northside Animal Hospital for her puppy shots. On Friday she wasn't feeling well so I called Dr. Hall on his cell phone, he gave me his cell number when I had an issue with my other dog. He said if Cami wasn't feeling better to bring her into the office Saturday or Sunday. The office isn't open on Sunday but he was going to be there first thing in the morning. On Sunday Cami still wasn't feeling well so I took her to see Dr. Hall and Dr. Hall took the time to check on her and he gave her 2 shots and an oral medication for her diarrhea along with food and he didn't charge me. I love Northside Animal Hospital. I have taken many cats in over the years, and I've never had a problem with any of the vets. It is obvious each these doctors have a real heart for animals. It is surprising to me to read reviews that say it is "all about the money," because Dr Hall is the vanguard in animal rescue,. There is no money in animal rescue. Dr. Hall works long hours because he cares about his patients. He isn't being compensated for all those hours. Like any business, there are staff to be paid, as well as overhead and supply bills. Dr. Hall and his office manager have been amazing to us! About a month and a half ago I had foot surgery. When I got home, I discovered that my sweet 10 year old lab-mix, Reagan, had been bitten by a venomous snake and his face was swelling. I was scared to death. I live 30 minutes away from Columbus, in Hamilton. I knew that Northside closed around 6:00. It was 5:50 pm, I picked up the phone and I called Northside and I spoke to the hospital manager. The hospital manager told us that they would hold the hospital open for us and we rushed sweet Reagan into town. The staff picked him up out of the car for me and immediately started IV medications. He had to stay overnight, but after a vial of anti-venom he was looking as good as new. It is my firm belief that Dr. Hall and his staff saved my sweet boy that night. Dr. Hall called me every few hours with updates. I will be forever grateful for the kind, caring, and compassionate service that we received. Worst clinic. Dr. Thorson should have his license pulled. We took our dog in there on Saturday because he was coughing up blood and his stool was black. We showed up at 1030am, only to be told, without running bloodwork, that my dog was fine, he just had whip worm. Gave us medicine and sent us on our way. Over night my dog formed bruises so we rushed him to Auburn where they took him from our arms, drew blood and found out he had anemia and his red blood cells were attacking his red blood cells. After a blood transfusion and extensive intravenous steroids my dog passed away in the middle of treatment. He was too week. Had he done the proper bloodwork my dog would still be here. He left behind a brother from the same litter from 10 years ago and a little girl that he has been by her side since she was born 8 years ago. If you are not going to administer the proper treatment on a Saturday, then don't be open. This clinic is a disgrace to veterinarian practice.Read Less

We are moving an hour north but Northside will still be our vets! I took my almost 7 year old pit bull here on an emergency as her primary vet was booked and it was recommended I bring her here. The place wasn't the art of the state facility however, we were greeted right away as soon as we walked in and checked in. Told the receptionist/assistant what was wrong with my fur baby and she took us to the exam room right away. Then she took all the information needed. Just few minutes later another tech came into the room and asked what was wrong with my fur baby and examine her and took us to the back room to get her weighed and as soon as that was done, another assistant came to assist my dog to the table and the doctor came right away greeted us and asked us what was wrong. While my fur baby was getting examined there were two assistants and a doctor surrounding her and making her feel safe and comfortable. Usually my dog is very shy and skiddish she feels very uneasy yet she was very calm which I felt very good about. The doctor who seen her was very attentive and heard every words and possible concerns I had and discussed and expired anything I wasn't aware of. (Some of other doctors I've experienced, usually cuts you off and just examines the dog which I hate. Bc I may not be a doctor but I live with the dog, whatever I may have observed and took notes perhaps may help the doc examine further, perhaps?) Doctor and assistants were very through and detailed. After examination and few tests, we were brought back to the closed door exam room again, and the doctor came back with possibilities and options to treat and again, very attentive and detailed. Once again, my fur baby was at ease. Check out process was quick too and even gave us a military discount. I was advised to monitor my fur baby for few days to see how she's doing and she seemed fine. Few more days went by and around a week mark, the vet's office called me to see how she was doing. They gave me a follow up call. I thank them and I thought it was very thoughtful. Then in a while, my fur baby got a card from the doctor saying thanks for visiting and hope she feels better. I thought that was very personable and I really appreciate that this place treats their animal patients like as if they'd treat a human patient, like a life. Not just another patient and a paycheck. The old Doctor is really a racist. I am very heart broken. Please do not visit here. I never experienced racism until I visited here. He needs to retire and be to himself and his wife. I am truly hurt. Then the "nurse" clerk whatever you call them turned racist too. As blacks I would think our money meant the same but not HERE. Do not visit. PS.. Normally I don't write reviews, but today I must. Sixteen years ago I adopted a rescue dog which Dr. Hank Hall helped with his neutering procedure. Rocko was a great dog: lovable, energetic, loyal, and friendly. However, in that sixteen years of his life, Rocko developed hip dysplasia, was losing his hearing and sight, began losing his hair, losing weight, and his anal gland protruded. Even with pain medications, he was suffering. Today, after months of putting off the inevitable, my family and I decided to put Rocko down. We requested that Dr. Hall be his physician one last time, and he obliged. As we said our goodbyes to our baby, I bursted into tears. Dr. Hall, being compassionate, allowed me to take all the time that I needed to say farewell. Keep in mind, we were at his office at 5:30 and they closed at 6:00, but he offered us an hour if we needed it. To top it off, seeing that we were deeply saddened to about to lose our Rocko, Dr. Hall said that he would mail us the bill instead of making us pay at the desk after the visit was over.Northside and Dr. Hall are some of the most compassionate people in Columbus. Have taken my dogs here for many years. The whole first come first serve way of doing business here is wearing thin though. Especially when the mentality has become "move'em in move'em out". Not to mention the fact that they haven't been able to diagnose my dog's issue for 4 months and never followed up on the referral to another vet. My son and I have both brought our dog to Northside and Dr Hall and its clear why they always win favorite vet in town on those polls-- He is knowledgeable and animals love him and he is thorough and very reasonably priced. We always feel confident that we know what is going on with our dog and that he truly cares about and loves our pet--They wash/groom pets for a reasonable amount and work with you on charges--I totally recommend Northside to all pet owners! Wow, where to start? Last week, my dog Keiko got some gloomy news from our local Atlanta vet with no hope of a good outcome. Looking for a second opinion, I drove to Columbus GA to visit Dr. Hank Hall... since then, the outlook has done a complete 180! In three days, we made two trips down to Northside Animal Hospital where they utilized blood tests, x-rays, and a team of 4 doctors with over 100 years of combined experience to figure out exactly what was wrong with my baby. In the end, something my ATL vet told me to address by "just keeping him comfortable until he passes", turned out to be resolved in one out-patient surgery and will not affect his life in the least. So, if you have ANY question or concern for your pets, the short 1.5 hour drive to Columbus is the best decision you could make for your babies. Read Less

I first visited Northside about 3 years ago when I was referred there by another vet's office. My dog had cancer and required a surgery to remove some tumors. Dr. Hall and Dr. Clardy were amazing. The cost of the surgery was only a fraction of what a clinic in Auburn was going to charge, and the compassion felt was so appreciated at such a hard time. Because of the quality of care we received, and the genuine feeling of knowing that this office truly cared about your dog, we now bring all of our four legged babies here. Had an emergency (my baby was hit by a car) and our regular vet was not in the office. Dr Hall took excellent care of my baby and helped us every step of the way. He got me an envelope together of everything he had done while my pup was under his care to take to her regular vet when he was back in the office. Great staff! This place is terrible when it comes to the staff. They are totally incompetent. My cat had an infected tooth for almost two years and they never noticed it here. She would still have it if I hadn't taken her to All Cats Clinic where they are much more thorough in their examinations. My dog had been on Trifexis, a heartworm and flea medication for years. When I went in for a refill the manager told me that there was no record of me ever getting it before. I was so upset that the manager took me into another room. She said that she would check into it and call me back. After several weeks that call never came. While I was at All Cats Clinic I overheard to other customers talking about how their cats had almost died because of Northside Animal Hospital. Read Less

I was introduced to Northside after hearing they give free exams to newly adopted rescue pets, and was very pleased.Our dog had a cough when we got her and after giving the exam, they gave us some medicine to help her feel better. The doctor was very gracious and generous with helping us understand how to tend to our dog's needs. Northside is great!!! They are not my primary vet, but they might become my primary vet after taking such good care of my pup after an emergency. We got home late to see that my 24 pound Boston Terrier got into the trash and devoured a roast chicken carcass and had become very sick. This seems like a fine veterinarian office with caring people but I have only been once to have my puppy's health check after just buying her. The only reason they get three stars is because the wait when I went in was outstanding and there was hardly anyone there. I called to make an appointment and was told they do walk ins. I also have a problem with the fact that they looked her over for like a minute or two, said she was fine, and then charged me over $50. Not one test done. The vet I go to now has a very nominal examination fee and he is wonderful! Read Less

I moved to Columbus from Atlanta and I had always seen wonderful and compassionate vets there. I was not so fortunate when I came to Columbus...none of the other offices I have taken my pets to have made my experience pleasant. I have been to a couple other vets in the area and I will not be going to another one. I am highly pleased with this office. The vet was absolutely wonderful. He took time to explain everything to me and understood my concerns. He is quirky and has a great personality,  which I have had a hard time finding in a medical professional around Columbus. My dog was acting too crazy for them to solve his issue that day, so he didn't charge me, which I thought was very generous since I did take some of his time. The staff was very nice as well. Especially the younger blonde girl who spoke with me at the front desk when I came in. She refers to your pet as "your baby" which I think is wonderful since most people do see their pets that way. I highly recommend anyone planning to travel abroad with a pet to use this veterinary hospital to get all your pet's documents sorted. We are relocating to Italy with the Army and needed to get a bilingual health certificate filled out for our cat. Veronica Armstrong was very knowledgeable about what paperwork needed to be completed and went out of her way to make sure everything was filled out correctly. She even called me to check I had gotten the paperwork sent off correctly from FedEx. I also have praise for one particular other vet Lawrence Price, who knew exactly how to handle my cat when giving her shots. My cat becomes very aggressive when she has shots and other vets we've been to or talked to either couldn't handle her or said they would have to sedate her and that would cost us extra. Lawrence knew how to handle her - just scruffed her and held her still. Simple. The whole experience was a lot less stressful than another veterinary hospital I had been to (not in the area) where they just hadn't a clue how to handle an aggressive cat. Read Less

I was very happy with vet services but a little less pleased with boarding my dog here. Everyone seems knowledgable and of course very compassionate towards animals. My main issue was that after 5 days of boarding, for which I packed 5 days worth of dog food, my dog was sent home with half of that food still packed up! Of course, my pup seemed healthy and happy to be home with her family, but I can't help but be a little concerned that she was only fed half of what she would normally eat... Read Less

Dr. Hall gave me his personal cell number when I flew with my dog. He has been so helpful and hands down best vet we have seen. He didn't charge me for extra visit to get a bill of health after he just saw our dogs. He has been so honest and helpful couldn't ask for more. Read Less

Dr. Hall was great and the staff was very knowledgeable.  Just had to take in one of our rescues for shots we didn't realize he didn't have until we tried to board him.  They got us in and out within 20 mins!!  I'll be coming back here for sure! Read Less

My at the time 6 month old 5 pound chihuaha had been hit by a car. It was late in the evening, banks were closed, and I didn't have 200$ on me to cover the cost. Dr. Hall just asked me to write my info down and sign an agreement that I would pay when I could. I payed 1 week later, and my puppy made it through! They took such sweet gentle care of him I wouldn't of known better if they said he was human! Northside Animal hospital is the way to go for star treatment of your loved ones. Dr. Hall treats your pets as guests in this vet clinic. I have never had poor service here and love the staff working for him. He doesn't run from large breed dogs like some of the other clinics in the area. I have a pittbull and they always treat him fairly. Read Less
