Stitchie had pancreatitis and was very dehydrated when we got her to Dr Shiver. He and his staff took excellent care of her and worked a miracle bringing her back from near death. She had another attack and since we caught it early, she didn't get as sick. Dr Shiver monitored her blood counts and she was the old Stitchie again. Now without and warning or any identifiable cause, Stitchie has contracted what we believe is canine lupus. Dr Shiver identified it right away an...d we are managing her symptoms and helping her be pain free and comfortable. Without Dr Shiver's excellent knowledge and experience, Stitchie would not be with us today. His compassion and kindness both for my dog and to me cannot be more appreciated. Animal Medical is the place to go for veterinary care in Covington, GA. The staff is friendly, kind and knowledgeable. They genuinly cared about my dog and were as engaged in her confort as they were with giving us instructions on her medical care. be very careful using this Dr. my dog had bladder stones removed with another doctor and was fine, then I moved to this vet because it was closer to home. My dog had to have another bladder stones operation and he died half hour after picking him up, I do so believe the doctor or staff gave him too much medication, because he had many operations and was walking around fine but not this time he couldn't even get up, he was only 9 years old. When I went in to give the medications I bought back to them the counter staff wouldn't even look me in the eye, she gave me the cold treatment, talk about guilty!!! Read Less

I have recently started bringing my dogs here the ones I lost to soon and my current two and I wished I would had came a lot sooner !!! They seem all so great and caring and when you look at your dogs and animals as your kid you search for the best dr. You can find and I can honestly say I have finally found the best !!!! Its very important how my dog is treated and handled! I have walked in vets previously before finding this one and my dog snap when they went to touch them which is way out of character for my dog that was a sign for me, here my dogs are comfortable and calm ! They have helped me to the best of their ability and don't tell me things just because that might be what I want to hear ! Honesty means a lot its rare ! Every time I have a question sometimes had to call more than once a day but never did they act like I was bothering them in anyway ! They have always seen my pet right away!!! I went all over from here to grayson with my puppies who came down with parvo and no one seemed to understand my love for my dogs until I came here !!!! Despite all efforts they passed away but I was blessed with one more and soon he will be coming here as well!!! No vet before explained to me the importance of things u need to do and know about dogs when they get pregnant r when they have puppies. Which may had made a difference in my puppies life ! But they have made sure I am well educated and know what to do n when to do it now and that may make difference between life r death for a animal !!! I don't know what the other person here is talking about. My 2 cats and I have been coming here for 7 years and I wouldn't take them anywhere else. Dr. Shiver has always made a point of seeing us each time we've come in unless he was in surgery. My daughter recently made her 1st call concerning her dog and Dr.Shiver picked up the phone and answered all of her questions...and even scheduled her 1st appointment!
