I highly recommend Dr. Sigman and staff for the care of your pets. I called Dr. Sigman's office on a Friday afternoon with concerns about a sick dog. The staffer who answered the phone was able to squeeze us in for an early Saturday morning appointment. Upon arrival, the staff was courteous. They even went out of their way to accommodate my dog who has anxiety in social settings. In the exam room, Dr. Sigman was detailed in his examination of my dog. He explained every step of the exam. We've been going there since 2004. I don't have any major complaints. The Vet helpers tend to be judgemental; the Vets aren't though. If I could give one piece of advice to the helpers it would be, don't display your feelings to customers. Don't try to guilt someone into spending more money than they have. I found a stray dog and took her straight here to be checked up. I explained this to the Dr several times and he still asked me, how old is she? I don't know, I just found her. Does she have her shots? I don't know, I just found her. He told me she was a girl and then both visits called her a he. I know a dogs sex is not a big deal to strangers but it seems like he didn't even check her chart before seeing her. She tested positive for worms so on her next visit to get the rest of her shots, he gave her one and started to leave the room to end the visit. I said is she officially dewormed now? He said oh, did she have worms? Again, do you check a dogs chart before going in to work on them?!?! The vet techs and front desk staff are incredibly nice and polite but the doctor treated me like an idiot both times even though I've had dogs for years. He acted like having to answer my questions was the most annoying thing in the world. I'll stick to Walnut Grove animal hospital in Loganville which may be a little more expensive, but they truly love my dogs, call after a visit to see how they're doing and will spend all day answering my questions so I feel comfortable. I had been going to Dr. Sigman for several years with no complaints. His bedside manner wasn't exactly the greatest but I appreciated his no nonsense approach. He never suggested additional unnecessary tests, procedures etc. just to get more money - as I have encountered with another vet in town. The staff was always kind, courteous, and compassionate. I would give them an A+. Then I took one of my beautiful young cats to be spayed. He said she should be tested for FIV ( Feline AIDS ) and FeLV ( Feline Leukemia ) before proceeding with the operation. The test came back positive for FIV. I did not know anything about the disease so I asked him what to do. He said he recommended that I have her euthanized. Naturally, I was heartbroken, but I followed his advice even though she appeared to be healthy and symptom free. Later I did some research and learned that FIV " is not typically fatal for cats, as they can live relatively healthily as carriers and transmitters of the disease for many years." and "The American Associations of Feline Practitioners (an organization in the United States), as well as many feral cat organizations, recommends against euthanizing FIV-positive cats, or even spending funds to test for the virus, as spaying or neutering cats seems to effectively control transmission." Dr. Sigman should have explained this to me. I don't think I would have had her put to sleep if I had known all the facts. It makes me sad that I ended her life without doing my homework because I trusted Dr. Sigman. Read Less

I have been using Dr. Sigman since I moved to Covington in 1981. My experience with him and his assistant veterinarians has always been good. He has cared for my horses, cats and dogs over the years. I can't say enough about him and his office staff. The bad review of the front desk girl does not reflect the service you get from the veterinarians here. I would not let one inexperienced person working in the front office keep me from using this group. If it had been me that ran across this problem, I would have asked to speak with the veterinarian in charge that day and let them know what happened and my concern so that the problem could have been taken care of and would not happen again. I can't tell you how amazing every single person is. One of my dogs is allergic to everything and the other got a severe infection from a snake bite. They spend the time making sure you're pet is cared for and they are getting the proper care. I will never take my animals elsewhere. You can not go wrong bringing your animal here. Read Less

BEST VET EVER!!! My family has used Dr. Sigman for every one of our animals. We have cows, horses, dogs, cats, etc. and he is great with every single one of them. He knows what to do and takes the time to really make sure our pet is cared for properly. My grandmother has used him since he opened here in Covington. I unfortunately tried two other vets when I was younger and let me tell you Sigman is the best. My dog is allergic to EVERYTHING. His staff really took the time to figure out what was causing it and how to help her without referring me elsewhere. Now she is doing much better and living a happy life. Also, as I am writing this my dog is over there now for the third day in a row (she has had to stay the night) and every time I call to check on her (2-3 times a day) I am treated with nothing less that perfect hospitality. I cannot recommend Dr. Sigman and his staff enough. Also, he is not in the business for money he does it because he loves animals so he has AMAZING pricing!!! How can you let a young healty cat die when she was taken in to be fixed and declawed? My grandsons are heartbroken and no one even called to let them know. The owners had to call for an update and was then told that she died and "this type of thing happens." Heartless response". Read Less

they are amazingly good at what they do Dr. Sigman is probably THE MOST EXPERIENCED vet in GA his knowledge of horses is amazing (what he doesnt know about how to treat a horse isnt worth knowing) they have better prices than just about anywhere else thank you Dr. sigman! Read Less

I normally go to Sigman veterinary clinic but decided to try wellspring since it is closer to my house. The first visit for shots went well so I decided that I would switch. My 4 month old puppy is only two pounds and jumped off our sofa Monday. She immediately started limping and I called wellspring. They told me to observe her and call back if it didn't get better. When she continued to limp, I called as soon as they opened to make an appointment and they told me that they could not see her until the next day. I called Sigman and they told me to come right away. My poor girl had a broken leg. Thank goodness for Sigman or my sweet puppy would have suffered another day in pain. There was a lost & roaming dog in my neighborhood for 3 days. I saw that the pet had a rabies tag from Sigman Animal Hospital. I took him into the clinic to attempt to reunite him with his family. The front desk receptionist put his rabies tag # into the computer and attempted to call the phone# on file. She told me that nobody answered the phone. I asked what is the hospital's procedure for lost pets. She told me to take him to animal control. I asked if I could have the owner's contact information and she provided me with the owner's name, address, and phone #. Should they do this? I wouldn't give out personal information. You have no idea what I may do with that information. She also told me the owner of this dog had only been in ONCE to see them and ONLY got a rabies vaccine for the dog. It is really none of my business what kind of veterinary care they give their dog. But anyway, she never asked my name, my contact information, or what I intended to do with the pet. What if they come in looking for him. They couldn't even tell the family who has their pet. She seemed to not have any concern if this pet was reunited with his family. WOW! I would not want my pets to be under your care because you act as if you didn't care with him. My pets are part of my family and if they were lost, I would hope that at least my veterinary provider would help to get me home. Oh and by the way....he is back home with his family AND I told them about my experience with Sigman Animal Hospital. They should be more careful as to whom they select to provide care to their pets.
