I have been taking my dog, Roxanne, to Dr. Zak for about 5 years now. The level or professionalism and courtesy from Dr. Zak and her staff is off the charts. We are always greeted with a smile and they've taken good care of Roxanne. Dr. Zak has a very good personal touch with the animals.....you can tell she truly cares for your dog and doesn't just see them as just aother patient/client. Roxanne is a 10 year old with a "not so great" rear right leg. Not only for check ups, but when we come merely to pick up her Flea/HW treatments, Dr. Zak will come out front and visit with her and usually she will even check her leg just to make sure she is alright. We just picked up our dog from the boarding facility. It was our first time boarding him and we were concerned especially since he’s kind of a nervous dog and he has been having problems with allergies. They were very communicative and accommodating. He looked great when we picked him up and I can tell that he had a good time. They’re very affordable as well. You should give them a shot. P.S.- In terms of healthcare, they do take exotic pets, which can be hard to find. Read Less

We had a pretty rough experience with Hamilton Plaza Animal Hospital. Our nieces' 17 year old dog, Noah, was having some hard days. He had grown some kind of tumor on his neck and was struggling a lot. Unfortunately, it was time to let him go so we made an appointment here for a euthanasia and drove up to help the family. We aren't from the area, but this was close to our nieces' home and was recommended by a family friend. When we arrived, the receptionist had just answered a phone call about boarding. Noah immediately started freaking out and the receptionist continued talking on the phone instead of putting that customer on hold. She even made a comment about how she was having trouble hearing over Noah's cries. We were already having a difficult time, but we had to stand in the lobby with Noah crying, causing us to cry more, while the receptionist talked about boarding. We eventually made it to an exam room and went through with the process. He did not have a smooth transition. I don't want to go into the details on this, but it wasn't just going to sleep for him. I was refraining from leaving this review. I thought maybe the receptionist was new and Noah had a rare reaction or something. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, but I just received some mail from Hamilton Plaza that was unacceptable. The first was a bubble mailer with the paw print impression we asked for. The paw print was thrown into a ziplock bag and sealed in the mailer with no added protection. It arrived crumbled. That same day, we got a letter from them thanking us for trying them and that they hope to see us again soon. I feel that this letter shouldn't have been sent to someone who brought their dog in to be euthanized and it definitely stung to see that. Read Less

So unhappy with my last visit. After a service was provided and the Dr came to talk to me I tried answering her questions and she cut me off three times completing my sentences for her advantage. If we can communicate we can't do business together. Secondly, after EVERY service provided I was charged more than the price originally given to me. Dr. Zak is the worst vet ever. She only wants to look at the simple stuff and ignores you when you try to explain what really is going on. She misdiagnosed our dog 3 times only to treat her ears. We took our dog to another vet immediately after our third visit and found out she had cancer. Our dog had to have surgery but is doing much better. Because of Hamilton Plaza Animal Hospital and Dr. Zak our dog had to suffer an additional two months to get properly diagnosed. I wish I could give negative stars. Read Less

There are not really words to express how poor our experience was with Dr. Zak and how much pain our dog went through as a result of her poor care. To begin with we brought our dog to her after she was limping badly and appeared to have injured her front foot. My wife told her that she felt there was a problem with the pad of her foot and after the exam Dr. Zak indicated there was nothing wrong with the paw and felt she may have pulled a muscle or had some sort of soft tissue injury that would heal. So, we paid for doggie ibuprofen and and watched her worsen for another week. As she began to seriously try to walk with the paw held in the air we returned to Dr. Zak again asking for something to be done. This time Dr. Zak indicated they did not see anything last time and that x-rays would be the only way to find out if it was something more serious. Of course we did not want to risk our dog having a fracture we did not treat so she did the x-rays. The result... she could not see anything wrong? Again, she suggested may be some form of arthritis (our dog is getting older) or that we could try an even more expensive MRI? As the bill for the two visits and medication rose over $400 we opted for not doing the MRI but paid for the steroids suggested to help with the arthritis or tissue injury. Following another week of watching our dog suffer in pain we finally took to inspecting her paw ourselves (she has very furry feet and we combed through the fur on each toe) only to find an obvious infection and scab at the base of her nail! So, after going to Dr. Zak from 8/23 to 9/15 we discovered the cause of immense pain for our beloved dog. So, I called the office and spoke with the receptionist about how upset we were that our pet was in pain, we paid for two visits, including unnecessary xrays, and it was something that should have been seen the very first visit if she was examined thoroughly! The receptionist agrees that was terrible and offered to examine and offered to treat her for free. She also told me Dr. Zak would call my wife within a couple hours to discuss the issue. That was at 8:32 am ... after hours without a call from the doctor my wife finally got in to see the doctor and it only got worse from there. Although the receptionist offered to treat her for free the doctor said that the exam was free and actually shaved her paw to examine it without permission (we were told the dog was only going back to be weighed) to confirm yes, it indeed was an infection in her nail and that we would need to pay for it. My wife told her that we paid for unnecessary xrays and asked for a copy of them which the doctor told her they did not xray the paw when I brought her back, just the clavicle area... something that was not mentioned when I brought the dog because her condition worsened and she was struggling to put her paw on the ground. The doctor eventually gave us a disk and indicated the xrays were on there (we were taking the dog to another vet for a 2nd opinion) but guess what happened when the other vet put the disk in... empty! It is bad enough that we were encouraged to consider treatments for our suffering pet when a decent initial evaluation of her paw would have seen the scabs (which amazingly made it to the report we got from the vet) and considered it may be the cause of the pain our pet was feeling. But, what's worse is that our dog suffered for weeks unnecessarily and the best Dr. Zak could do is claim our disgust and upset reaction was not appropriate! My Pembroke Welsh Corgis (past/present) have been going to HPAH and Dr. Zak for many years.  Dr. Zak, Melissa, Heather and Dee are caring, responsible professionals and pet owners themselves.  When I had to put my senior rescue Corgi down, the entire staff supported and cried with me - just like family.  Now with my 3 year old Corgi, the HPAH staff is as much a part of his life, as I am!  I trust Dr. Zak completely, and her staff is first-class!  I highly recommend HPAH to any responsible/caring pet owner looking for real peace of mind when it comes to medical care for the furry members of their families. Love coming here , and I know my cat low key does too. Everytime I have emergency with my cat they are never too busy and they are so quick I'm usually out of there in like 1/2 hour. If I could give a ten star rating I would. I cannot say enough nice things about this vet and her team. Starting with the vet - Tara, she is super smart, caring and has always been willing to take the time to truly make me understand what is going on with my "babies". She has nursed them back to health after the emergency clinic in Buford had almost lost one of the girls. She has been working tirelessly to pin down what is going on with one of my poodles (she's getting better day by day). And then there is the team - gosh, I've only been going there about 5 years, but they all feel like family. You can tell that they truly care what happens to your babies and they are always so caring and gentle with them. I don't live near the clinic, it is about 45 minutes from my house, but she and her staff are definitely worth the drive. Read Less

Our family has trusted Dr. Zak and the staff with our 2 dogs and 2 cats for over 5 years. They are never too busy to answer any questions we might have and we always feel very welcome when we come in. Dr. Zak and her staff are wonderful. We were shocked and amazed when she helped our young cat overcome kidney and liver failure a few years ago. Dr. Tara Zak and her crew are just, in a word awesome! I met Dr. Zak through business -Marketing Solutions - for direct mailings. I knew when I met her that I needed to utilize her services for our 2 boxers, which meant switching vets - but it was worth it! Storm and Nike love visiting the clinic and the atmosphere is so pet friendly. When our son brought in his new puppy for his first visit, Dr. Zak was very sweet and put him right to ease. Rommel loves going to HPAH and seeing all the staff for his annual visits. He refers all his buddies at the dog park to them ! Recently our son got another new puppy and we went straight to her for his first visit ! Even though we have recently moved to Monroe and our boys doctor will be just a few miles away in Dacula and well worth the drive!
