I can't say enough good things about Clairmont Animal Hospital.  Our regular vet is Dr. Hiro and he is literally the best! We've also seen Dr. Adams who is great as well.  We had to make the incredibly difficult decision to put our first dog down and we couldn't have asked for a more compassionate individual to assist in what was a horribly tragic time.  We now bring our new dog to Dr. Hiro and he is just so friendly and compassionate - you can tell he truly loves animals and his profession.  Would highly recommend this vet! I rarely review businesses but I was so floored today from the lack of customer service as well professionalism. I've been a customer to Clairmont since last year. Never had a problem until today. I have a beautiful, highly playful standard poodle puppy that loves  excitement. Well today I entered to drop my baby off and had so many things in my hand that her leash slipped out of my hand and she ran inside the building. Excited to see people and wanting to make her presences known. Instead of any of the staff assisting me with getting her prepared for boarding they just looked at me with disgust as if I was a unfit mother to my dog. After a couple of mins Sara (the manager) comes around and offers me the leash that they escort the dog down to the kennel. And one of the desk reps offer to take the food out of my hands so I can get Alexandria (thats my babies name.... Very grand i know) leashed. While doing so I notice one of the reps at the desk give me a look that was completely unacceptable and hurtful. I immediately ask her if there was a problem why did she made that face towards me? She ignores me and continues her task at hand. Finally one of the other reps come out the back who knows Alexandria and leashes her and takes her to the back. But before he does I once again notice the young lady looking at me as if she wished I would just leave. At this time I just simply ask her if there is a problem and she ignores me and Sara states something to the tone of "We just want to secure the dog so she doesn't harm anyone..." Excuse me? She doesn't bite all the most she does is will lick you. Im beyond aggravated with the whole situation at this point. I check my dog in and leave.30 mins later I call and ask to speak to Sara to address this situation because if its such a problem I'll come back and get my baby... The nerve of her to say I DISRESPECTED HER AND THE STAFF... Excuse me? Anyone who works in customer service knows you should never let a customer leave if there is an issue... Address it and move on.. What I was expecting was an apology from the rep. Not knowing this was her second day until Sara told me on the phone. That doesn't take away that professional customer service is always expected. Do you think Sara even apologized? No she basically told me it was me who was in the wrong...This will be my last time ever visiting this establishment!!!*****UPDATE*****This morning I received a call from Clairmont which I was told to rectify the situation. Which was nothing of the sort. Instead I was met with a condescending / passive aggressive tone. I was told apologies were made which was never received. And also whats more disturbing is I felt she only called to have me take my review down vs rectifying the situation. After several mins I realized that no positive solution was going to become of the situation. I wished Sara a good day and ended the call. Read Less

We've taken both our cats her since moving to Decatur two years ago. Always a great experience (except the one time our calico didn't want to be nice to Dr Romano...). Joe, one of the vet techs, is a "cat whisperer" - our not-the-friendliest calico fell for him instantly.  Today, I called for a nail clipping for both before we go out of the country for two weeks; I didn't even have to mention our upcoming vacation,  Lindsay was so helpful and gave us an appointment today! Both cats are now home with nice short nails.  :)Thank you!! Read Less

My pet saw Dr. Smith here! One of the sweetest men you'll ever meet. I actually recommended my parents go visit him when their dog had the same tear in his leg. My dog tore her ACL and Dr. Smith recommended surgery! Of course no one wants to pay for that, but he made us feel very comfortable and assured us it was worth the money. My dog is in great shape now, about 14 weeks out from surgery. She had a cute cast the first week, then had to wear a cone for a bit, but that was it. She is back running like her usual self and playing fetch. Occasionally, she'll skip a bit or hold it up after a long walk or run, but that is expected. He was awesome to work with and his front reception staff are just as great! My dog was so happy every-time we visited. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Read Less

Dr. Bradley is now our vet for our two cats --they have been going in for regular check-ups every year for a few years. She is very personable and knowledgeable: she keeps up with current research on feline health. She is also able to tailor her recommendations to our cats' lifestyles and our specific concerns, which is very important. One of our cats had an emergency visit in between the annual check-ups (at some other facility that they work with), and she had already known about it a few months later, adjusting her exam and recommendations accordingly. She helped us with easing our cats' carrier anxiety. At this point, we mostly go in for preventative care for both our babies, and they are happy and healthy 5 year old cats! The hospital staff is super friendly and it is a breeze to book an appointment. They send you yearly reminders when it is time for the cats to see the vet, and then reminders for upcoming appointments. My only complaint is that I wish that their entry way was closer to the parking lot or if they had an entry where we park, so that we could just take carriers inside upon parking, rather than walking a bit up front (this is especially a hassle when it is raining outside). I started taking my puppy to Clairmont about a year ago. I first was disappointed in the fact that they changed my puppies vet twice without advising me prior. Being that this is my first pet I didn't make a big fuss as I wasn't sure if this was a standard practice at the vet. (I figured that with real people they tell you who when your doctor is to be changed... why doesn't my pet receive the same courtesy). The last time I took my puppy in for his shots my dog hollered (something he had not done at all for his prior shots) to the point of me feeling that the Vet was really hurting my pup and that it was not being administered correctly. I continued to go because of the great reviews they typically receive. When it came time to get my pup flea and tick prevention I attempted to order through Clairmont Animal Hospital. Their prices seemed quite high so I did my research and found that 1800 pet meds had them cheaper. I was then told by Clairmont Animal Hospital that they do not work with 1800 pet meds but they would price match. No Problem. Right? WRONG! I go in to then be told that they price match but they don't match the lowest prices advertised online. WHAT IS THE POINT OF A PRICE MATCH?! With that said I am taking my business else where. I feel that their prices are way too high and that their main concern is their bottom line. Read Less

I cannot say enough great things about this animal hospital. I know some people think it's ridiculous but my dog is my child, he is everything to me so finding a place that would care for him just as much as I do was my top priority, and Clairmont Animal Hospital has certainly met my expectations.I have visited for the usual check ups and vaccinations and have come here for emergency visits. No matter what I have come in for my dog is always a priority to them and they take special care of him no matter what the visit is for. Dr. George is also amazing and made sure to follow up with me multiple times to check in on my dog after I brought him in for an emergency visit. They genuinely care about the well being of your animal.Like other reviews have said it's not exactly the most wallet friendly Animal Hospital in the area, but I am willing to pay more if that means that my dog is getting the best possible care. This is our regular vet. We have had many great experiences with them.  We have dealt before with Dr. George, Dr. Desai, Dr. Adams, Dr. Romano, and many of the techs (our dog is accident-prone). Everyone there is very kind and compassionate and virtually every time we leave my husband and I remark to each other that it is a real gem of a practice. It is not inexpensive, but we have found their care to be very valuable.  We have found them to be less expensive overall than the Village Vets of Decatur, which is also a wonderful vet practice but very expensive. It is a little complicated to get prescriptions there to use with an online pharmacy that is not CAH's affiliated pharmacy, which often has higher prices than VetDepot or the like.  Still, it is very much worth it to us to use them. Really want to like this hospital because they're close to us, the vets seem nice. As for some of the front desk staff-see the other reviews. They took good care of our cat and dog, but basically we decided to take our animals to another hospital for the following reason.Clairmont Hospital seems to be able to offer medications from ONLY one online pharmacy, which they say is because they know they can verify the medications. If you know anything about healthcare, you probably know that anything that is partnered up with only ONE business just doesn't seem right. I don't know how they verify that the meds (which are more expensive than other pharmacies online and in person from CVS/Costco) from this one online pharmacy, and even after I explicitly asked them, they failed to give me an answer. How do they know they can trust this pharmacy? Do they run tests on every single medication from this pharmacy to make sure the product is real and honest?I don't know if they get money from this online pharmacy for being their partner, but either they should be transparent about this practice/explicitly explain why the meds from this pharmacy are trustworthy or try to find a group of pharmacies from where clients can get medications for their animals. This practice doesn't sit well with us--reminds me of big pharma trying to influence human physicians and hoard money patients. Be honest. We won't be back. Medicine is a public trust.Update:The hospital contacted me on Yelp telling me that they gave me multiple options. No, they didn't, and they still were not transparent. When I asked records of our pets via email they ignored my emails. A comment on Yelp is no way to treat the patients and the patients' families-it's professionalism, conduct, and character. Read Less

Dr. Frank was awesome. Out of all the 2 vets that my baby boy rocky has seen. He is the only one that gave him a physical examination turning his head and extending his legs and checking other things out like the eyes etc. Normally its just observing the pet and checking vitals, but not here!!! Rocky came back to life around 7pm last night after being so lethargic over 2 months. That prednisone shot did the trick and Rocky is doing things like he did when we first got him, jumping on the couch, following us around, going outside on his own to pottie, eating, responding to commands and his vision is not going in an out, which I have not seen him do for many many months now. We have three cats: one senior cat (16y) and two young siblings (1y) that we recently adopted. I have seen three different doctors here: Dr. Adams, Dr. George and Dr. Hiro and I'm convinced every doctor here is a rock star. Dr. George did a dental cleaning for our senior cat Smokey and he removed two problem teeth that were causing him mouth pain. Smokey healed up like a champ and Dr. George was very caring and compassionate throughout the process. Dr. Adams saw Smokey for his tooth surgery follow up and she saw our two new kittens Orion and Calypso for their first vet visit right after we adopted them. On top of providing great care for my cats, Dr. Adams gave us great advice on how to integrate two kittens with a senior cat and recommended some awesome automatic feeders that only open for the correct cat. This is the kind of advice and care you get from a top notch vet practice. Finally, today I brought Orion in  for a checkup because he wasn't eating and generally wasn't being himself. I needed the first appointment available and they got me in same-day due to someone canceling. I got to meet and work with Dr. Hiro and he was also fantastic. He explained each step of his diagnosis and helped me understand what he was doing and why along the way. He very much made me a part of the process and I appreciated that. I am convinced that no matter what doctor I get here, I will have a great experience. I find that the prices are fair and while they are not a "cheap" or low cost practice, they will work with you if cost is a concern and explain what each test or medicine is and why they are suggesting it so you are part of the decision process. I moved here to Atlanta about a year ago from the northeast and its great to have found a vet practice that I can trust. Read Less

PROS: The Veterinarians are fantastic and provide exceptional care. They run all of the necessary tests, take the time to explain new medications and vaccinations to you, and are generally very caring to your animals. I have brought two separate animals here, have seen 3 different doctors, and have always had a pleasant experience once I am in the room. I have noticed that they can sometimes suggest running a plethora of additional tests which is appreciated but they don't always mention that there will be an extra cost up-front. I think saying something like "I would like to run X additional test and it will cost around Y" is a reasonable thing to say and that way customers are not shocked at checkout (especially if the 'additional test' is something that will end up costing $100 or more). CONS: The front staff are often times difficult to deal with. Some of the staff members are very friendly but others have a serious attitude and act as though they are doing you a favor. I always have an appointment and have NEVER been seen by my appointment time. Whenever I ask for an update I am given neither an update nor an apology for the additional wait time. I am always forced to wait more than 30-45+ minutes after the appointment time, which I think is poor scheduling. One time I had an appointment at 1:30 and was not seen until 3:00. No explanation or apology. I can understand a delay here or there, but sometimes it can become a bit extreme, especially when I have an appointment and take the time to arrive 15 minutes prior to my appointment. This has happened every time I go here and I have brought this issue up each time to both the veterinarians and to the front desk. I have also had a few instances where one receptionist has said they do not have any availability for a particular day and the next receptionist says they have several times, and I have had instances where they have "lost" my appointment information in their system. The price is middle of the line. I think that some of the vaccinations could be less expensive but overall I am happy with the price point. I always come expecting to pay a minimum of around $200 though no matter what the issue. All in all, this is a solid veterinary practice and one of the best places I have been in Atlanta. I feel comfortable recommending it to anyone looking for a new veterinarian. However, there are a few issues with the front desk that I think can be solved through consistent scheduling methods and positive customers service. Read Less

We have been very impressed by Dr. Adams at Clairmont Animal Hospital, and trust her completely with our dog's care. We have a special needs dog because of her diabetes, and Dr. Adams monitors our dog carefully and makes adjustments to her insulin dose as needed. Thanks to her good care, our dog is happy, healthy, and active, and we expect her to lead a long and healthy life despite her condition. Dr. Adams is also a compassionate doctor and goes above and beyond for families -- she has responded to my questions via email in the evenings or on weekends when she's not in the office. Most recently, my mother-in-law in Monroe was dog-sitting while we were out of the country, and she ran out of insulin. She contacted Dr. Adams, who called around to several local pharmacies around Monroe to find insulin for her! She's an exceptional vet, and our whole family is grateful to her for her excellent care. I love Clairmont Animal Hospital! The first thing I noticed about this place was how willing they were to make both myself and my pet feel as comfortable as possible. A vet visit can be an uncomfortable situation for cat owners, but I felt really taken care of here and I wasn't even the sick one!The vet I saw before coming here misdiagnosed some of the issues my cat was dealing with, and after the symptoms got much worse I decided to take her to Clairmont and she has been doing so much better ever since that first visit! Not only is the kitty doing better, they made sure to coach me through all of my (lengthy) questions concerning her condition. I have nothing but gratitude for this place and don't mind driving the extra 15 minutes to take her here vs. a few closer places. The best part is the quick email responses from the doctors. I always get an answer back within 24 hours. I know how busy they are, so the extra effort and attention to detail is so appreciated! I would give this place 10 stars if I could! I haven't been in to see this vet yet, but feel compelled to write this review based off of my interaction with Dr. Smith today via the phone. Long story made short, my oldest dog (an 11 yr old boxer) was diagnosed with a perineal hernia by two separate vets. I called Clairmont Animal Hospital because a Google search led me to their website. Both techs that I talked to on the phone were knowledgeable and super sweet... but the reason I am leaving this review is that Dr. Smith is a unicorn. By this, I mean that he is the type of vet you wish you could find, but are eternally searching for. He called me back after I asked the tech to ask how many perineal hernia surgeries he has done. He called back, and gave me a WEALTH of information over the phone, and suggested that I see a specialist (because although he has done several, it's not something that he does all the time). He's a masterful surgeon, but still candidly told me that a specialist who has done hundreds of these would probably be better. By the way, this is probably a 3k surgery based off of the quotes I've gotten, and this is his practice... A vet who isn't motivated purely by money!? What sorcery is this!?He then went on to actually put in an online referral for my dog, so that we could make sure we were in the system first thing Monday morning. He ended the call by asking me to keep him updated. We have four 60+ lb dogs (1 of which is a foster)... I will be using Dr. Smith for all of our babies from his point on. I've found a unicorn. *Long story of 3 separate occasions, so for the TL:DR population, Clairmont Animal Hospital and staff are GREAT!!! The quality trumps the price. This place is well worth it, because no one said owning and caring for one's pets would be cheap* I have had the unfortunate pleasure of having to come to Clairmont Animal Hospital for 3 events in less than a year for one cat. First with Dr. Hiro, then Dr. Desai, and now with Dr. Smith. This establishment and staff have always gone above and beyond and I can't thank or praise them enough for their professionalism, dedication to their jobs and clients, and most of all their compassion. I was sent to them initially by my vet for what I thought was an emergency issue, but turned out to be indigestion. Thank you, Dr. Hiro. Not more than a week later or so later, I had to turn around for a true emergency. My cat already was exhibiting signs of an upper respiratory infection, which I was going to address, but she went out and didn't come back for 24 hours. When she did return, she had fluid coming from her ear, head tilted, and couldn't walk straight. I thought she had been hit by a car, so I immediately took her to an emergency vet clinic. Was told it was an inner ear issue and if she didn't improve within the next 3 days to bring her back. (Cost $500) Her condition was in rapid decline when I brought her home that same night, so I called my vet the next day who suggested I take her to Clairmont because I couldn't be seen by them until Monday. I met Dr. Desai that day. She was very calm, told me truths, but always insisted on a good outcome with a trying spirit. All throughout my visit I was expecting to hear "we can always put her down," something I've been told twice before with my other cats , and was expecting to hear again, but she never came close to insisting that option, even though I could see in her face that she knew that there was a negative possibility, but she kept telling me "we're going to try." My cat ended up having a 3 day stay in the hospital, and Dr. Desai even came in on her off day to check on her progress. She made a miraculous recovery, it even astounded the staff. The hospital stay + aftercare (less than $500). Recently we had to return for a fractured femur. I was sent to St. Francis (another AMAZING group of people) who took x-rays and gave me options for surgery ($4k-$7k) or amputation ($1,500-$4k) with 2 other establishments, but I ended up back with Clairmont. I settled on the cheaper option of amputation, but felt terrible because it was a fracture, not a break. Dr. Desai and Dr. Smith both called me and spoke with me about the situation and both expressed that they felt that the leg could be saved. I was devastated because besides the fact that surgery is beyond expensive, each establishment wanted their money upfront. Family and friends told me to put my cat down, but if there's a will, there's a way, and Dr. Smith and his staff worked with me to make the surgery possible. Now I have a very happy, titanium limbed cat, thanks to Dr. Smith and his amazing colleagues and staff. =.= Read Less

This place is amazing!  Let me count some of the waysThey are very attuned to my dog and very caring.  They have literally gotten down on the floor to calm her during nail trimmings (Dr. Adams).  Also my dog gets mild eye infections but is terrified of eye drops and they don't push meds unless absolutely needed (Dr. George has helped us with the eye infections). They go the extra mile.  My dog got pneumonia right as I was leaving town for a week and they were sure to give me updates on the diagnosis and how she was doing (Dr. Desai and Dr. George took care of her). They give great health education- better than a lot of the health education medical providers give to human patients. From giving me helpful advice on how to find a vet when traveling (reception) to proactively letting me know how to avoid getting infections from my dog that are transmissible to humans (Dr. Desai) they have been there with helpful information. They're good with humans too and I'm just mildly saying that tongue in cheek.  The other day I brought my dog in after she had been bit at the dog park and I had got bit trying to rescue her.  When Emily saw I had been bit too she gave me sterile scrub and iodine gauze, wound cleaning advice, bandaging help, information about seeking medical care and possible signs of infections to look out for, a tub of iodine solution for wound cleaning, information about how the bite would feel for the next few days, and sympathy.  Dr. Boggs also made sure to come out and let me know the bite would sting for the next few days and offered me sympathy.  I probably would not have sought treatment if it weren't for their advice, and my swollen wrist tells me their help likely prevented a nasty infection.  In all seriousness I kinda wish I were a canine because I know the quality of care I would receive at Clairmont Animal Hospital would be compassionate and top notch. Our realtor referred us to Clairmont Animal since we were new to the area. We LOVE Clairmont Animal and especially Dr. Bradley. Our little man, Charlie cat, has had a lot of anxiety issues coupled with urinary retention and constipation scares. We had two especially critical incidents earlier this year where his bladder got "blocked" and had to be catheterized after he hadn't peed for over 48 hours (this can quickly become very serious or fatal in cats). Since then, he's been stabilized. We are so grateful and appreciative of Dr. Bradley and the front desk staff who have collectively spent hours on the phone and/or in person was we have figured out what the best medications and dietary options and dosages are for Charlie. They've never rushed me and Dr. Bradley specifically has spent a ton of time researching medications and diagnoses for us over the past year, finding specialist referrals, etc. The vet techs are also always professional and gentle with Charlie from what I've noticed. Also- in terms of convenience and general customer service--Whenever we have prescription refill requests, they are quick to handle them, which is really nice. Bottom line- Clairmont Animal is fabulous (and we know because we have been somewhat frequent fliers for the past year)! Read Less

I first brought my cat here in June 2014 at the recommendation of a smaller vet who couldn't get Miss Abby in sooner.  She'd been having issues with her tummy and they were able to take her on a Saturday to have a look. She was diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Disease and was sent home with some Metronidazole to calm her stomach. While she was there, they did a tooth and gum check on her, and we were told she needed to have most of her teeth removed. They were in bad shape, and I was told that she was likely in a lot of pain; I was also told that cats are the best at hiding their pain. I was shocked that she needed to have most of her teeth removed, and I asked a friend of mine who is also a vet what she thought about that. She agreed that it was likely that Abby was in pain; she also echoed what Dr. Adams said in that she'd probably feel much better after having them removed. I needed some time to process the situation and prepare myself for the large vet bill, but finally in March of this year, Abby went in for her cleaning and extraction. Four weeks later, she is feeling so much better; she's actually a changed cat. She was feeling better within 24 hours. I brought her in for a recheck about a week after the extraction and she's doing great! If anyone has a cat who's not had their teeth checked in a while, or if you have and were told that they needed to have some (or most) removed, I recommend it. Yes, it's a costly procedure, but you'll feel so much better knowing that your pet feels better.Dr. Lauren Adams and the rest of the staff here do an amazing job. Dr. Adams actually went through a lot of work to have this clinic certified as a gold level cat friendly practice by the American Association of Feline Practitioners. This means that this hospital has been made as stress free as possible for their cat patients. This facility is clean, and their customer service is phenomenal. I've been to other vets where this is not the case and it can be so frustrating. They did a little remodel in their lobby last year, and the place looks great. I highly recommend Clairmont Animal Hospital and Dr. Lauren Adams. Read Less

My cat, age 13, has been a client of the Clairmont Animal Hospital for many years. She has a documented history of trauma reactions to visits to the vet. She has been on medication prescribed by the vet for severe arthritis, which limits her ability to jump. It has been documented in her file that she strongly resists attempts to sedate her prior to vet visits and struggles to free herself when held. This was known and discussed at the beginning of each visit. During this years annual visit of 3/18/15, the cat exhibited the usual reactions, but was not sufficiently restrained by the doctors assistant and she jumped off the table and fractured her pelvis. (X rays were taken to verify the reason for the dragging of the foot and crying that followed the jump). The cats movements are seriously hampered. We are now carrying the cat in a closed box up and down the stairs. She is unable to use a litter box, although the pain appears to be subsiding. Initially after we brought the cat home, we heard from the vet during the first week apologetic and concerned. The vet requested a follow-up video to determine any extent of nerve damage, which we sent. We have not received any followup call from the vet or even a representative of the Clairmont Animal Hospital. Obviously we will no longer be entrusting our pets to the care of Clairmont Animal Hospital, nor will we recommend this organization to anyone who has a pet with special needs. Read Less

I've been here a number of times for my labrador, and while the charges for a regular check-up seemed rather high, I assumed that was the cost of good care. And it is good! Dr. George and Dr. Ray couldn't be more sweet, knowledgeable, and overall great communicators/vets. Very highly recommended. However, I think CAH's stellar reputation takes a toll on basic customer service. Its immense popularity means that getting an appointment for boarding is nigh impossible unless you call weeks in advance, the people answering the phone are impatient and borderline rude when times are busy, and I've had instances where my in-person sign-in went completely ignored and promises for phone calls back were mysteriously lost. In all of these instances, I totally understand and sympathize -- times get busy, notes get lost, and minds get frazzled. However, it ultimately does lead to a lower standard of service for all the microtransactions outside of your time with the vet his/herself. It's up to the consumer whether that trade-off is worth the high level of pet care. Read Less

I cannot recommend Dr. Adams, Sonia, Lacy, Alison and the rest of the staff at Clairmont Animal Hospital more highly!  In late February my parents were dog sitting and identified a pea sized lump in my dog's ear. I was out of town so they took him to my *former* vet in Buckhead. One of the staff doctors, not my normal doctor, aspirated two sites on his body. She was concerned enough after viewing the cells under a microscope to refer me to an oncologist at another, well known facility in Sandy Springs. After a battery of tests we were given the bad news that my dog had a Mast cell tumor growing in his ear. Surgery is the only real treatment, after which one hopes that the tumor is removed completely and sufficient margins around the tumor would be cut away along with it to ensure no cancerous cells remained. I'm providing all of this background so anyone reading this message understands what brought me to Dr. Adams and Clairmont Animal Hospital. So the oncologist proceeds to tell me that the surgeon at this facility intends to cut the entire ear flap off. Now this happens on the phone. He suggests I come in the next day and have the procedure done. You can imagine how I felt. Of course, I was reeling and just felt like I had failed my little boy and he was about to lose his ear because I didn't see and do something about this sooner. I made the appointment for three days later if it had to happen, but set about looking for a "second opinion." I spoke to my former vet and her advice was that "if that's what the surgeon said needs to be done, then you should do it." That was enough to write my old vet off.I plunged myself into researching Mast cell tumors, alternatives to surgery, and types of surgery, as well as looking for another opinion. I researched several other doctors and vets throughout the metro area. I even considered vets in Florida. I wanted someone who had access to the latest surgical techniques and a lot of experience with this particular cancer and its treatment. And that is when I found Dr. Adams and Clairmont Animal Hospital. My decision to move my dog's care to the capable hands of Dr. Adams and her staff has been well rewarded. Dr. Adams took her time during her own investigations, answered all the questions my research told me to ask, and, as she was doing the surgery personally, was forthright about the possible outcomes.  I especially liked that she started my dog on a pre-op regimen of medication to help shrink the tumor before surgery to reduce the margins that would ultimately be required. I know that in the end, whether my dog lost the ear flap or not, Dr. Adams was fully invested in doing the best she could. I did not feel like my dog and I were just another number in a line of surgeries on a particular day where expediency may have been part of the original post-operative prognosis. My dog and I have just returned from his post-op follow-up and to have his stitches removed. His ear is intact and no one meeting him for the first time would realize that he had any surgery, much less that he had tissue removed. I know that my dog's results may not be typical, but I will say unreservedly that your pet will receive the same care and consideration as mine did, and that you can have full confidence in what you are being told and the recommendations that Dr. Adams and the staff makes to you. I have found my new forever vet and I could not be happier! Read Less

My cat goes nuckin futs when we go to the vet. I've had 5 cats in my life, but damn, this cat takes the prize for the craziest mo fo cat there is. Now I fully realize what it's like to be one of those parents with the kids that scream in movie theaters. Needless to say, Dr. Hiro did a great job of calming down the cat while also trying to give her shots and such. One thing I particularly liked Clairmont Animal Hospital is the doctor seemed to ask questions, listen, and provide good feedback. I've been to others vet where I feel like they're in such a rush to get out the exam room, so this was a nice change.  The front desk was also friendly and easy to work with. They have extended hours so it's easy to get in before or after work, depending on your schedule. They also have a Keurig, so make sure you get some fresh coffee! My only negative was that the prices seemed a little high. I've only ever been to two other vets before (not inside the city), so really, the prices could be average with other vets in the area. Overall, if you're looking for a vet, definitely go. If nothing else, they're rated as one of the top vets in Atlanta. Can't beat that! Read Less

I highly recommend Clairmont Animal Hospital and specifically, Dr. Hiro Iwamoto. Dr. Hiro (that's what we call him) is extremely caring, recommends reasonable tests, keeping finances in mind, and gives your pet amazing care. The Technicians at Clairmont are also very well trained and knowledgeable, as well as personable and compassionate. Finally, Clairmont is open 7 days a week, and the Drs. and Staff do not leave at night until they have done all they need to do for your pet. I have been there many times with my big dog, Beau, my cats and a few foster pets. Dr. Hiro always tells me my options and makes confident recommendations for care. I NEVER leave wondering about anything; all of my questions and concerns are answered immediately. Most recently, Beau got an intestinal obstruction that required surgery. Dr. Hiro jumped through hoops to get the ultrasound done and the surgery scheduled right away - basically saved my dog's life. He also made sure that EVERYONE at the clinic knew about Beau's situation, so if we called or they saw Beau, they would know exactly what was going on. When I would call the front desk, the staff member would say, ""Oh, Beau? Yes, let me get Dr. Hiro right way."" or ""Dr. Hiro's out today, but Dr. Desai knows about Beau's situation and can help you right away."" Unfortunately Beau had a few complications, so Dr. Hiro recommended us onto a specialist, which was absolutely the right call. However, by no means did this mean Dr. Hiro had handed off our case. He called me and the specialist throughout the weekend (he was not even on duty) to check up on Beau and make sure he was getting the care he needed. I am happy to report that Beau is healing nicely thanks to the great care and attention of Dr. Hiro and Clairmont Animal Hospital. Read Less

We have a nine-year-old boxer who was a rescue named Val. The day after our honeymoon we found a lump on her that turned out to be a mast cell tumor. A friend told me to go to Emory and I'm so glad we did. Dr. Crawford immediately took Val into surgery and removed the tumor on her leg. The surgery went beautifully and Dr. Crawford had such a great manner not only with Val but with my husband and I as well. She was knowledgeable and explains things well. We then took our dog to an oncologist just to get a specialist's opinion on further treatment, and the oncologist complimented how well Dr. Crawford did on the tumor removal with words like ""It really looks like they know what they're doing"", which totally put my mind at ease. Dr. Crawford was also eager to work with whatever findings the oncologist suggested. She just wanted to provide the best care for Val. Val's leg healed perfectly and we have since moved to California. I have called Dr. Crawford a couple of times with concerns since we don't have a vet out here yet that I'm completely comfortable with, and she always calls back right away and spends as much time on the phone as needed. My husband and I wish we could bring her out here with us, and needless to say I highly recommend her care for any pet! Read Less

Dr. Smith is absolutely wonderful! He and his staff are the best and always remember my little Boston Terrier when I bring her in. Not only do they remember her - they come out in the lobby just to say ""hi"" no matter what we are in for. We Love Dr. Smith - but I would also say that there are several other doctors in the practice who are also great if you can't get in to see Dr. Smith (who has a very limited schedule). He has done throat surgery on our dog, and gave complete estimate before the surgery - called me just after the surgery to let me know how it went, and then called again when the puppy woke up. Frankly, I wish I could find a people doctor who was half as good as Dr. Smith. My sister has 3 dogs and they all go to Dr. Smith - and have had the same experience. Read Less

Read Less

No matter what I have come in for my dog is always a priority to them and they take special care of him no matter what the visit is for. Dr. George is also amazing and made sure to follow up with me multiple times to check in on my dog after I brought him in for an emergency visit. Read Less

Read Less

I love this place. Dr. Hiro and the techs are always so happy to see us, so gentle and loving with my geriatric kitty, who stays really calm with them. The whole staff is friendly and attentive, everything is clean and organized. They have Feliway-scented blankets to put over the cat carriers if you need one, and coffee for humans. It's just a calm, professional, caring place to be. A couple years ago I was taking our cat to another vet and it was the opposite -- dirty, disorganized, and everyone seemed to have a crusty attitude, so I'm especially grateful to have found the team at Clairmont.

Read Less

Took advantage yesterday of CAH's offering of cutting edge procedures when my pup underwent a laproscopic spay by Dr. Bradley. I've always had regular spays done before and the difference is night and day. My pup experienced little to no post op pain and is her usual active self today (one day post op). The procedure is higher in financial cost, but the minimal physical cost to my special pup was so worth it. You rock Dr. B (and Dr. Desai, Dr. George, and all the vets at CAH). Read Less

The $55 or so per visit is kinda steep. But the service here and staff are great. And our pets tend to leave here happier than ever. (It might helps that they hate going to the vet in general though.)

Read Less
