It was recommended we take our chihuahua here for her teeth cleaning since she has periodontal issues. Dr. Wilson is very caring, and the receptionist is very nice, but there are a few concerns I have about this place.1. The front desk is way too overloaded with drop offs and pickups and people waiting for regular pet check ups. It becomes chaotic very quickly and everyone ends up waiting for awhile for service.2. The boarded dogs are stressed out. They bark all day, and I know that because we were there for 8 hours. Put a radio back there for them, walk them, give them some attention. 3. Our small dog had 4 teeth extracted and was not sent home with pain medicine. I realize I didn't leave her overnight, but common sense would tell anyone to send them home with at least a days worth of tramadol. 4. The scheduling is a hot mess. The reason why my dog sat in a kennel half the day with no food or water is because you were taking all these other types of appointments and then adding in this dental surgery. Most vets have a surgery day and then check ups day, that would help with the chaos and also for pets comfort.5. The office staff does not tell you everything during the phone call so ask lots of questions. They were going to try and keep my dog overnight for her dental appt.....she has kidney disease and is on a special home diet and schedule. They knew she had kidney disease but failed to tell me about their preferences. I was not leaving her there.6. This is a biggie for me....people are dropping off their pets for shots and services and just come back later to pick them up. There is no weight check, no exam, no asking questions. I know this because we were new to this office. The front desk lady took my form, which asked for NO medical information at all, and then wanted my dog and told me to come back after noon the next day. My dog has kidney disease. ANY vet knows you need a blood test beforehand. And a visit first. So I refused her just taking my dog from my hands. Dr. Wilson was holding holly very sweetly, but she didn't check her heart, or her temp, or look in her mouth. I was to pay $38 for a first time visit. She didn't even weigh her. Or check her out. That's a red flag. You are putting dogs under anesthesia without vital checks and asking the family questions about history? She wasn't even going to do a blood workup until I insisted. I had to ask for it. She was the vet!! And turns out her levels were elevated because of the infection. You have to understand that if your dog is near renal failure, and you don't even know it, and your vet asks no questions or does a pre blood panel, your dog can DIE during surgery.I am glad the procedure is over. But this is not a place I would go back to.And when she handed me my post surgery dog, she was wet on one side and stunk like bad perfume, I didn't appreciate that. It's not a good idea to do that to a dog that just had surgery. Update:Our dog needed some steroids because she is not completely healed from this vet office. I drove 5 hours to take her to our reliable vet. Dr Wilson was going to open her mouth up again to look for problem spots to sew up. Our current vet took an xray and did a sedation exam and she doesn't need extra work. He saved us from more harm.We did not take her back to Dr. Wilson. It took 4 weeks, and my husband to wait in their office for us to finally get the records on our dog. At the last minute, they added in some info like weight, reason for visit...?We were charged for 6 teeth and blood work that our regular vet said was useless because it went into some mode in the machine and the data was incorrect and had error codes on the slip. They charged us $75 for that anyway.People, after describing the practices in this office, to our vet in NC, he said there are many red flags to look for. If your vet will not do an office visit, weigh your pets especially before surgery, they insist you drop off your dog yet you never see any work done, and you are charged for faulty blood work results or procedures they didn't do, you need a new vet.
