Can't say enough about this vet practice. Our 5 year old lab was diagnosed by our vet with a torn ACL. While our vet suggested the local surgery factory in Sandy Springs, we didn't feel comfortable with that option and wanted a smaller neighborhood practice to complete the surgery.  Based on recommendations of friends, we visited Lavista Animal Hospital and really felt good about the quality of care she would receive from this practice.Dr. Clint Walton performed the ACL repair surgery and both Drs. Walton saw her during the follow ups. The office is clean and the vets, techs and front desk staff couldn't be nicer or more accommodating. Dr. Walton encouraged us to call frequently with recovery updates and to come in to see him whenever necessary during the long recovery period to make sure everything was healing well (all without added charges). You can tell they really care about the animals they see and are not just there to make a buck. We are very glad that we took our dog to Lavista for her surgery. We came here for a second opinion on our dog that was very ill. They were able to get us seen immediately and we received excellent care that saved his life. He developed some complications after surgery and the team was great in getting us in and talking through the issues. Prices are very reasonable. Dr. Walton was incredible with my pup who has severe skin allergies/hypothyroidism. He didn't waste any time in getting to the root of the problem, and offered lots of great solutions to correct the issues in the least amount of time. I could not be happier with Drs. Walton and their staff!  I called in panic mode because I have a kitty with a bladder stone who was miserable & peeing blood constantly.  My usual vet recommended an ultrasound to determine if there was also a kidney stone.  After several recommendations and phone calls, I was thankfully referred to Lavista Animal Hospital - and got in the same day.  They had everything there needed to diagnose and treat my sweet baby - ultrasound, lab & microscope as well as meds and food.  Within two days of implementing the right treatment, he has bounced back to normal.Their rates are SO reasonable - especially for the level of service they provide. (I called so many vet offices for pricing, so I can tell you first hand that their rates are better than most!) I am so happy to find them and will happily be driving 25 miles from Cobb County to see Dr. Walton again with all of my pets! Read Less

My budgie was sick for a couple of days.  I had another appointment for Thursday at another place, but i saw she was really ill.  I contacted Lavista animal hospital to see if they had a Avian vet.  They said they do and that she also has a mobile vet service and would come to me.  I called Dr Tobias to see if she could see my bird and told her I didn't have a lot of money but wanted to do what i could to see what's wrong with her and to make her comfortable.  When i talked to her she asked me to bring the bird in and I said Ok.  I asked her how much it would cost.  She told me the exam would be $65.00 I said okay.  Let me tell you about my horror story.  I arrived at Lavista animal hospital around 5:35pm  My Budgie was at the bottom of the cage with rapid breathing and very very fluffed (signs of a dying bird) She also had a swollen bald bottom.   I was thinking maybe egg bound.  She takes her out the cage and looks at her bottom.  Sticks a long Q Tip in her bottom.  She's squeaking every time she does it.   She saids she doesn't think she is eggbound and told me she was going to give her an x-ray, didn't ask if I wanted an x-ray just took her off and supposedly did it.  (5 MINUTES) later.  I mean just 5 minutes later, she comes back and says there's no egg or mass in her bottom (never showed me an x-ray) and says she gave her shot inside her wing (never asked me if she could), gave her an antibiotic (never asked me if she could) and gave her a lube inside her cloaca.  When my bird was put back in the cage she was far worse then when i bought her in.  She died around 2am that night.  I was charged $85.00 for exam (told it would be 65) X-ray 65.00, shot $25.00 antibiotic tabs 28.00, Lube cloaca $1.96.  I got charged $204.96 and watch my budgie suffer and die. Feeling a bit down about this. We've been customers of LAH for over 20 years now, so it's with some sadness that I feel I need to write this review. At the end of June 2017 I trapped a small juvenile cat that one of my customers had been feeding for over 2 months, every day, outside, along with 3 other feral cats. This cat was a bit skittish at first, but very sweet. I even thought to myself, I wonder if someone is missing her. So I was able to trap her. I immediately brought her over to LAH to see if she was chipped. They swiped her a couple of times with the chip reader, and said... "Nope! No chip!"I then decided that I'd try and keep her, as she was so unusually sweet. Had her vaccinated that same day. Fast forward 2 1/2 weeks, that I had bonded with her. Brought her in and dropped her off to have her spayed. About an hour or so later, I received a call telling me that she WAS IN FACT CHIPPED, HAD ALREADY BEEN SPAYED, THEY HAD ALREADY PLACED A CALL TO THE OWNER, and they were on their way to pick her up. That was basically it!Although I am so very glad the little girl has gotten her kitty back, I guess maybe I was looking for a little bit of compassion from LAH.   When I informed Dr Walton that I had her checked for a chip at LAH, two weeks prior, his response to me was..."Oh, ok".  When I stopped by to pick up my cat carrier, nobody said anything to me, until I tried to offer some info. Not one person seemed to care. I left feeling like, "These folks are kind of acting like I had stolen this kitty from this little girl."  Did I mention that I've been a Petsitter for 11 years now? Now hopefully that's not the case, but that's how I felt walking out of there.  Me, a customer for over 20 years.  I wasn't offered an ounce of feeling from anyone about it one way or the other. Not even one question, so that they may be able to offer information to the true owners in case they want to know where I found their kitty. Nothing. Feeling a bit sad and let down today. Especially now that I must find another vet after so many years. I will say, I do think that Dr Walton and the other Vets are very good at Veterinary care. I guess I'm just looking for a little more compassion for the animals and the people that own them... even if it iIS only for 2 1/2 weeks. Read Less

I have an abundance of appreciation and respect for this practice. They took excellent care of my elderly cat, and I recently had them exam and spay a nearly feral cat who went completely wild while there. (She€s actually a sweet cat at home, but is terrified of dogs and strangers.) We recently had to say goodbye to our beloved Bernese Mountain dog, who stayed here for observation and testing. Dr. Walton and other staff spoke with me daily with updates and did everything in their power to save Beau. They invited me to come sit with him post-op and called me first thing in the morning the day he passed. They handled all logistics for having him cremated (another 5 star experience) and I'm so relieved to now have Beau home with a beautiful display and a cast and framed paw print. I use to go here with my mom forever and then it started to go down hill unfortunately. I brought my dog in for two shots and he came back with three different needles, I asked him what the third one was and he said "ooh this is bordetella shot". I've never given either of my dogs these and didn't ask for it. He really made me mad that he was just gonna give my dog a shot and charge me for it even though I never asked for it. I've got multiple reasons and stores to tell but I'm just going to say. Please don't go here. Save your money and try and find a better place.Read Less

Love the team at LaVista Animal Hospital. They have made caring for our three aging chihuahuas so much easier. It's about providing the care your pet needs, not selling you a bunch of other products or packages like some of the chain clinics. I will spend whatever I must to care for my pets, but I do appreciate their pricing and the overall cost effectiveness of treatment. My 8years old pug, Vito, had a bump on his lower jaw. When doing the tests to do a biopsy to see if it's cancerous or not, his vet found out his liver is small in the xray so he referred us to a "specialist" and he was diagnosed with liver shunt! Every one agreed that he should do the surgery to fix the shunt. It was a big surgery for him being a pug and being 8 yrs old. My friend told me about lavista animal hospital and dr.Walton senior. So I went to him for a second opinion. He said don't touch the liver, he's been living with this liver for 8 yrs with no shunt symptoms. We were relieved because we thaught we could lose him during or after surgery. with his kind, experienced and confident words he just extracted his front teeth and voila.... he's better than ever, no bump and pathology result showed only inflammation. We've been taking our dobbie to Lavista Hospital for over a year, and I must say we're extremely pleased with their care, attention, and love. Our pup had to have an emergency surgery due to swallowing a toy. I noticed there was blood coming from my dogs mouth and saw she had a large growth on her gums taking over one side of her mouth. I then realized that was why she didn't eat the day before, so I was really worried. I have never been here and they allowed me to come in right away without any outrageous "urgent care" charges. The staff was helpful and Dr.Adams and the tech were great with my boxer and took great care of her. My pup has been coming here since he was eight weeks old (he is now three). We loved it since our first visit. Dr. Walton has helped my dog recover from all kinds of ailments. We just moved into the neighborhood and cannot say enough good things about this veterinary practice. They are knowledgeable, compassionate, efficient, and affordable. They don't waste your time or your money, but they always give you their time if you need it. We had our two dogs there for routine things, and then the sorts of problems dogs have as they age. This is the most amazing animal hospital.  That is a fact.  Many years ago when I first started going to this vet, my dog Zoe had a seizure.  I called and talked to Dr Walton.  Most vets just say bring the dog in for everything so they can charge you.  Instead Dr Walton sat and talked to me on the phone for about 30 minutes telling me everything about seizures.  I knew then that this is a great doctor.  I moved about 45 atlanta traffic minutes away.  I checked out a couple of vets near my house.  They were so much more expensive and were no match to the staff and doctors at Lavista Animal Hospital.  I will never take any of my pets to any other vet.  My dog Zoe is now 11 and about six months ago she just started falling apart.  She has had to have several surgeries so we have pretty much been there once a week for the past six months.  Dr Walton has helped me out so much with the prices of the surgeries.  I can't begin to thank him enough.  His son (also Dr Walton) is also amazing.  Actually the whole staff is great.  I can't thank them enough. I am new to the area and decided to try Lavista Animal Hospital for my dog's yearly checkup.  The hours were pretty good (even some Saturday hours) and it was very easy for me to find an appointment time that worked with my busy schedule.  The price for the visit was also very reasonable.  During the visit, I found the vet and technicians to be kind and knowledgable.  Since that initial visit, my dog required minor surgery to remove a growth on his leg.  I was very pleased with how they handled the procedure.  When I dropped my dog off that morning, I met with the vet for a consultation.  He was very informative and he patiently answered all of my paranoid questions.  A few days after the surgery, my dog unfortunately had to go back because he had busted his stitches.  They handled the situation quickly even though the vet had been on his way out for lunch.I am fairly particular about the care my dog receives.  He is quite a nervous patient and sometimes he can be a lot to handle.  The staff at Lavista Animal Hospital is great at handling even the most difficult patients and they have made me feel very comfortable in leaving my pet with them.  The only reason I did not give them 5 stars is because the estimate I was given prior to my dogs surgery was quite a bit lower than the ultimate price.  I would suggest asking for an itemized estimate if you want a more accurate picture of the actual cost of procedures that you are considering for your pet. After getting multiple misdiagnoses from Woods AH, I switched to Lavista AH. In seconds Dr. Walton correctly identified the tumor that was plaguing my Australian Shepard. In addition to his medical skill, he is very pleasant and explanatory and wears his love for animals on his sleeve. Much to my surprise the surgery to remove a 4.5 lbs tumor from my dog and board him for several days was about $1200. Follow up after follow up I was not charged as they considered these part of the original procedure. I now take all of my pets to Dr. Walton. Being there several times since, I don't think I've waited more than 10 minutes. Great service, great prices, and convenient location. I didn't think that was possible. Read Less

Lavista Animal Hospital has been my vet for over 11 years and they have always been great. My animals were never really sick though so we didn't visit very often except for shots. Recently, due to an injury to my dog's tail, I've been having to go A LOT. They care about animals and didn't charge me for a lot of things that other vets would have.My daughter caught the tip of my dog's tail in the door and the tip was exposed. We took her in and they took off the tip of her tail and bandaged it up. My dog is a little OCD and managed to get her bandage off even though she had a cone on her head. I took my dog back in and they re-bandaged it and sent me on my way at no cost.Being OCD, my dog kept getting the bandage off and messing with her stitches even though she was on sedatives and had a cone on her head. She was going to keep opening up her wound so we decided (after doing some research and talking to the vet) that docking her tail was going to be the only way to keep her from messing with it and letting it heal. They did the surgery and knocked off quite a bit from the bill. I was basically charged for the anesthesia and not the actual surgery or the painkillers they gave me to give her at home. We were going out of town and instead of having someone come to the house to take care of her, we decided that she should be at the vet being boarded in case anything happened to her (opening the wound etc). As I was dropping her off, I noticed that she had somehow (again, she had a cone on her head) gotten all her stitches out and her tail was a mess. I told them to do whatever necessary so they stitched her up and kept a close eye on her. When I picked her up, they had not charged me for stitching her up, only for the boarding. This morning, I took her in for them to check out her tail and ask them about intense itching that seems to be going on because of the hair growing back and they did not charge me for an office visit. I love my vet. Friendly people, really reasonable pricing, excellent doctors. I've used my vet for regular checkups and have always been seen promptly. My terrified dog was handled gently, and we were in and out quickly.When my dog got a snakebite on a Saturday morning, we were able to be seen by Dr. Walton immediately, my dog was given intraveinous medication, plus 3 prescriptions and the cost of an office visit, all less than $200. I tell people about how awesome the doctors are here whenever possible. They listen to your concerns and they are very nice and knowledgeable. I like how they care enough to call and follow up with you. It's not even the assistants its the doctors themselves. I love my little Diesel more then anything and I wouldn't trust his health with just anyone. They recently hired on a new doc Dr. Clint who I recently met with when I didn't have an appointment. Dr. Walton and Dr. DuLaney are both excellent vets.  I've been taking my dogs to Lavista Animal Hospital for several years.  I first saw Dr. Walton when my German shepherd had been diagnosed at a large chain vet clinic as having an autoimmune disease and was put on expensive drugs with many side effects.  I asked Dr. Walton for a second opinion, and it turned out that it was abscessed anal glands.  They were also impacted and had to be cleaned under general anesthesia, which Dr. Walton was able to do the same day.  I saved my dog much suffering and avoided unneeded and expensive drugs that would have been of no help.  Since that day, I've been using Lavista Animal Hospital and have been recommending them to friends of mine.Having had two senior dogs that lived to 13 and 15 years old, and then two puppies that are now 1 and 2 years old, I've made countless trips to the vets here.  There are too many stories to tell about how helpful and caring the vets, vet techs, and front office staff have been, especially when I had to say goodbye to my two previous dogs within just a few months of one another, so I'll just say that your pets will get excellent care here, and I won't go to another vet unless it's an after-hours emergency. We love Lavista Animal. All of the vets are amazing there and they have saved several of our animals - including a cat who was malnourished and dehydrated with a broken jaw (when we found her) and a dog who suffered from horrible epilepsy.We have a dog who has been in heart failure and they didn't have his meds, so one of the girls upfront called every vet within 20 miles of them to locate the medication. They picked it up for us and are very well priced. We have been taking our furry friends to Dr. Walton for around 15 years and never have we complained!And they do not encourage anything that you don't want to do. I have never seen a sign in there about declawing cats. If you look at that review only, then you can't understand how amazing and wonderful this vet is! Read Less

After reading negative reviews of this clinic I need to talk a bit about Dr. David Dulaney. I believe he's relatively new to the staff and he is wonderful! Last year our dog had chronic diarrhea. She was seen by numerous other vets and treated, but the problem would always return and she was losing weight. When she started having seizures we went Dr. Dulaney who was recommended by a neighbor. Dr. Dulaney was able to diagnose the cause for all her symptoms and treat her with a diet change and an inexpensive medication. Thanks to Dr. Dulaney, we our sweet dog is alive today. I am writing this in hopes that others will not go through the pain that I did. I had a wonderful cat for thirteen years. She was my only pet. She was diagnosed by L.A.H. doctors as having a urinary tract infection and had to take antibiotics. I was leaving for a business trip to be gone three days and the vet suggested I board her while I was gone so they could administer her medicine. I called each day to check on her. When I called the last day, they informed me that she had died. When I asked what happened, I was informed that the doctor on call that particular morning had done an autopsy on her without my permission, making it impossible in my mind to see her to tell her ""goodbye."" They did not have my permission to cut her open. She did not have a urinary tract infection. She had stomach cancer and despite xrays taken by L.A.H., she was mis-diagnosed. I have filed a complaint with the state of Georgia and I am waiting the outcome. The autopsy served no purpose at that point and could have waited until I saw her and until I was given the option for an autopsy. I would highly recommend using another vet in the area if you can. I have had pets all my life, and was excited to find a facility that offered so many in-house services and procedures that was close to home. Unfortunately, I found the customer serivce and pet care (most important!) to be very disappointing. I rescued a kitten that had been abandoned in a parking lot and went to LaVista for her first exam, vaccinations, standard tests, and to be spayed. The services were extremely expensive - even for the area - over $330 for a routine spay. The procedure didn't go well, and I had to bring in the kitten twice after surgery to correct loose staples. It seems as if my questions were not welcome, although I think asking why staples were used on a 4.5lb kitten is a very valid question. I worked for a vet clinic for 2 years in college and was surprised and disappointed with each visit. However, there is one female veterinarian I saw on one visit and she was excellent. Unfortunately, my experience with the rest of the staff was enough to make me go elsewhere. The convenient location was absolutely not worth the apathy and rudeness of the staff or the inflated costs. With all the complications, I was never even called by anyone at the facility to follow-up. There are many other vet clinics and hospitals in the area; I would not reccoment this facility. Read Less

He only cares about himself and I have seen him repeatly talk rudely to his staff members who are always so polite in the rooms for appointments. It has made me feel uncomfortable being in a room where a doctor screams at his staff members in that manner. The worst of this is that I know for a fact that his fake friendliness is a big act and that he will spank animals. He never has cared about the animals all he cares about is the money his business makes and that he appears to look good to his customers. He hates to look bad. I have brought 2 of my 4 cats here and they are very luke warm. It's almost as if they don't prefer to treat cats. The vet tech in particular was VERY rough with my scared, non-agressive cat. It made me angry. The vet was kind of nice...somewhat patient and explained things in detail however did refer to cats in general as ""solitary animals"" which tells me he either doesn't like cats or doesn't understand cats. While my cats seemed to receive decent care, the vet tech's attitude toward my cat is enough to make me go elsewhere. Read Less

I've been going to Lavista Animal for a while now, having been referred by a multitude of friends and coworkers. I couldn't be happier with the level of care, concern and service I receive every time. Dr. Walton is the best in the business and always takes the time to converse, often calling after hours. I have a dog with a chronic condition that has been very stressful for my family, but everyone at Lavista has helped us cope and makes sure our dog has the best quality of life he possibly can. Even when my other dog had something as simple as a dental, the staff called to makes sure she was doing well that evening. I should receive such care from my own doctors! I love Dr. Orton! He has always been very friendly and warm to me, and has taken great care of my cats in the past. In response to the other review, I have brought multiple animals (most was 4 cats at once) into the office plenty of times with no problems, although maybe they have changed their policy? But at no point have I had anything but great service from him. He even came in on the Sunday after Thanksgiving because my cat had been attacked, and both fixed my cat right up and also calmed me down because I was very upset. That visit cost me less than $200.00. When the same thing happened a few months later (cat is indoors only now, I've learned my lesson!), Dr. Orton was out of town so I had to take her to the Emergency Clinic in Gwinnett, who charged $350.00! I'm not complaining about their fee because they took very good care of her and I was grateful to them, but Dr. Orton came in at night during a holiday and charged me less than the ER during it's regular hours. I like all of the vets at Lavista and have never had a bad experience with any of them, but Dr. Orton is definitely my favorite and I thnk has the best bedside (tableside?) manner in the group.
