We couldn't be more disappointed in this clinic. This vet clinic came highly recommended, but after four visits with all sorts of extras charged, several calls not returned within days while our pet was still sick, and repeated rudeness from the front desk staff, we have moved on to another local vet. The results at Banfield Pet Hospital - one additional test that confirmed a diagnosis, good staff interactions, and a bill for an annual pet care program that is less than half of the charges at NDV. To make matters worse, the vet called back to say that if we weren't happy we should go somewhere else because his clinic was not for everybody. No kidding! I brought my 10 year old dog in because he jumped off of a retaining wall in my backyard while chasing a ball. Although he didn't show it at the time, he had suffered an injury to his neck. By the next day, he was walking unsteadily and stumbling. Dr. Bell examined him and gave me a tentative diagnosis since he didn't have any obvious injury. I appreciated the way she tried to prepare me for a horrible possibility (brain tumor- he was really stumbling and his left side was very weak) or something not so horrible. She was conscious of cost and did not immediately go straight to the most expensive options (like x-rays) without really knowing what was wrong. In the end, he received a steroid to reduce inflammation and pain medication. Fortunately, it was just an injury and not a tumor. He started to show improvement soon after receiving the medication. She called to check on him. I feel that she was attentive and thorough and caring. He's doing fine now. Read Less

I wanted to wait awhile before I posted this review. I didn't want my emotions to cloud my opinion, although I'm still affected by this experience. It's been over a year now. My baby was hit by a car and I UNFORTUNATELY took her to this vet. She had a shot at living. This vet even said she would "need a lot of work" but the point is she had a chance to continue her precious life. The vet instead of fighting for her was more focused on PUSHING me to putting her to sleep. They were more worried about getting PAID and COST than her life - not to mention what she precious life meant to me. Even 3 days after they put her to sleep and I was distraught & grieving and looking for answers from these people as to WHY I had to put her to sleep - they kept asking me about their $500 bill (which I paid in full 3 days later). Gucci meant the world to me. She was my baby! What this VET should've said & done is tell me she's hurt pretty bad but here's what she needs and this is what it's probably going to cost (ball park). Saving her life should've been first priority not their bill or how much it was going to cost. We're talking about $13,000 -- I would've paid that, even if I had to raise money. There was so many people knew & loved GUCCI. I'M SO STUPID FOR LISTENING TO THIS VET!!!!!!!!!!!!! She's a "practicing" vet -- she doesn't know with 100% certainty what would've happened if I had chosen to fight for her. This vet made it seem as if putting her to sleep was the only good/loving/humane thing to do. It wasn't - I could've fought for her. She loved life. I was in no condition to make that decision and putting them down shouldn't be the default procedure for lazy or incapable or incompetent or inexperienced or new vets. Gucci was like my first child - would they have recommended for me to put my child down after a car accident when the child is breathing, alert and can recognized me?????? NO! I'm not going to recommend whether you should or shouldn't take your baby to this place - that's entirely up to you. But for me I know these people didn't do EVERYTHING possible for my baby Gucci to save her. One of the biggest mistakes of my life. Read Less

Best visit to a vet we’ve had! We’ve been going to another clinic for a few years now but will be making the permanent switch here! The staff is extremely friendly, the doctors are very knowledgeable and take the time to really investigate and then explain what is going on with your pet. All our options were laid out to us very clearly. The prices are very reasonable and are accompanied by an explanation of each; nothing was forced on us. Definitely would recommend! Read Less

We have a long history with North Dekalb Veterinary Clinic and Dr. Katz. I am totally impressed with their expertise and level of professionalism being a nurse myself. North Dekalb Veterinary Clinic is the only place I would take my fur child to now. I went to 4 different clinics in a year, and they were the only ones to differentiate between hair ball hacks and chronic asthma. I had a rescue that was devastatingly ill at 5 weeks. I've never had a cat on my own and certainly not one that sick. Luckily, a few places were able to treat her initial illnesses BUT no one was willing to calm her down enough to listen to her lungs. Finally, someone at Lifeline's Thrift store suggested i take her to the take her to "The Cat Whisper" at North Dekalb. Kitti's not easily won over, but his patience with her was key. Now, she sees an another amazing doctor there that is able to provide tips to prevent episodes. Absolutely love everyone there. even their receptionists are helpful. Read Less

Dr. Lloyd (I refer to as the cat whisperer) is the best! I have gone through 3 cats over the past 14 years with this clinic! I completely trust my cats with Dr. Lloyd's care. He is very knowledgeable, patient, compassionate, and empathetic, you can tell a true cat lover. I never felt rushed through, he always took the time to explain everything to me. The front desk staff, especially Aileen are very personable and flexible. I have had many emergency/last minute drop-ins that were accommodated and help put me at ease. We have been using DeKalb Veterinary Clinic and more specifically Max Katz as our vet for more years than I can remember. Max and his staff have helped thru the basics and the worse of our pet needs. He and his staff are a group of very caring and knowledgeable people. He will always call after a visit to see how our pet is doing. Took Diesel for her first visit, Turbo for a claw trimming. Two sadly overweight beagles. So know this - they are very, very good, caring, and know what they are doing but be sure to ASK about PRICES especially if you are on limited funds or fixed income!!! Their prices are very very fair. I could not sing their praises enough. The vet was super kind about everything, and gave samples of something that was needed which did save money. So yes, I highly recommend them. I do like them better than Village Vets but that is just my personal opinion. Hope this helps in any decision! I do repeat - they are fantastic and the wonderful vet that saw Turbo and Diesel gave me a follow up call and left a kind, caring message for me. You will really, really like them. You have my word!
