I have gone to many of the veterinary offices around EAV and this has been our steady vet for the last four years.  We don't have the problems here that we had at other offices.  We can always get an appointment, refills aren't a problem and I can directly email my vet with any questions or videos regarding doggy behavior (one of our dogs has seizures and we couldn't figure out whether it was neurological or chemical so we emailed Dr.Simmons videos of her episodes). Dr. Simmons is a gem and all of our dogs love him.  The staff is usually very nice and responsive. Read Less

I can't say enough about Village vets! They are far from the cheapest vets in town, but they are bar none the best. And let's be honest, I wouldn't trust anyone but the best with my fur baby. Every time I've come here, the staff is super friendly and helpful. Also, in between visits, I've called to ask questions and discuss run of the mill issues/concerns with vets or vet techs - each time offering advice/suggestions without having to bring my little boy in. I haven't been to The Village Vets in person, but I called them yesterday regarding what could have been an emergency situation (my dog consumed a good amount of dark chocolate). I knew they were the closest 24/7 vet in my area, and figured I'd give it a shot as this was a Saturday. Both the tech and the doctor I spoke to were incredibly helpful and walked me through the situation, taking the time to ask additional questions and really try to give some sort of diagnosis over the phone. It saved me a (like very expensive) trip to the clinic, and my dog is doing great! Based on this experience alone, I intend to make The Village Vets the new primary vet for both of my dogs, and I would highly recommend them to anyone in the area. Read Less

I used this vet several times in the last few years as a backup to my dog's primary vet. But the last visit or two and the last several phone calls have gone downhill quickly. The office personnel seem to be completely incompetent in basic communication skills. They are rude, will talk over you. Will repeat the same thing over and over again even after you pointed out that you've heard them say that multiple times. On top of that they completely ignore what you say and we'll ignore any question that you ask of them. Then they will follow up by accusing you of what they are doing. I will not be visiting this vet anymore, I'm not sure what's going on over there but we don't need the hassle. Read Less

Had to bring my boxer Bella here for puncture wounds recieved from another dog. In those panicked moments, I didn't know who to trust for care or where to go - but I do now. I know it's difficult for staff and doctors to meet people on the worst days of their life (people coming in at 11pm aren't there for vaccines), but I immediately knew she was in kind, capable hands the moment I arrived. Avoid Dr. Slider at at all costs! I came to the Village Vets (Decatur), because my dog was recently diagnosed with Vestibular Disease and suddenly started vomiting after every meal. To be transparent, my dog is up-to-date on all vaccinations and completely cared for (spoiled even!). He's only been sick once in his entire life. I tried to book an appointment with The Village Vets after wanting to get a second opinion upon seeing another vet. The vet at Church Street Animal Hospital only performed a blood test (But I demanded an X-ray). I wanted both to get as much information as possible on what may be going on internally with my dog. But it was impossible to get anything the same week let alone the next day. So, I took my dog to emergency. Dr. Silder was in charge of early morning emergency appointments.  The result of the blood test from the previous vet was normal with a slightly elevated liver function.I told Dr. Slider about the VD and the vomiting, telling her I believe this is much more serious than an upset stomach. My dog had been regurgitating food for at least three straight days now. However, she reassured me not to worry. We took the X-rays and everything came out normal. There were no obstructions that could be causing the vomiting. She prescribed an IV of emetic (anti-vomit) drugs, 4 pills of Cerenia and canned vet-prescribed dog food. She told me to call her in two days of this treatment. So, again I attempt to make an appointment. Again, it must be booked out way in advance. I had a trip that was exactly two days and made an emergency visit to the vet.  My dog had not been eating for two weeks now, getting lethargic by the day.  She told me to do more X-rays, and I thought maybe from a different angle, but then said she ran duplicate X-rays of the abdomen by mistake. O...k.......She said it would be at no charge, but everything still appeared normal. She gave me a referral for a ultrasound. So, I made an appointment with a specialist the next Monday 1:30pm. My dog had a bad case of vomiting, and I decided to make another appointment with Church Street Animal Hospital. You know, where I could actually get an appointment without having to go to emergency. That Vet told me that my dog looked terrible. He lost several pounds and was severely dehydrated. They gave my dog Subcutaneous fluids and told me to make an appointment with a neurologist for an MRI. They thought the entire issue was something going on in my dog's brain. The next morning, my dog gets violent diarrhea, is still vomiting and and can barely stand and walk around. I go back to Village Vets emergency and Dr. Slider takes FOREVER to come to see my dog and I. After which, she basically tells me what amounts to,"Well your dog is old and sometimes these things happen..." My dog just turned 10 this year, was in perfect health besides the vomiting, evidenced by x-rays and blood tests. He was a medium sized dog, barely 30 pounds. Not geriatric by any means for a dog his size. She said, in a "throwing me a bone" fashion, "Well, we'll keep your dog overnight and give him an IV of fluids and anti-vomiting drugs. We'll take good care of him!!!" She said she would call me at the end of her shift to give me an update on how he was doing. She said she had gotten "attached" to my dog and would take special care of him.I never got a call. I called around 6pm and 12:30am the next morning to get a status. Both times, I was told that he's taking the fluids and doing fine. Then at 7am, later that morning, the vet Dr. Neal taking over Dr. Slider's shift calls me to tell me, that your dog has aspiration pneumonia, and he's dying. Do you still want to transfer him to his ultrasound appointment?" I was shocked and knew the only option left was to euthanize my dog so he can stop suffering in so much pain. I truly believe a more competent vet would have saved my dog life. The truth is, I don't think Dr. Slider cared at all and happily strung me along with "platitudes" to keep getting money from me for vet bills. Plus, I feel she didn't tell me all the tests and treatments possible, because she thought based upon my appearance--I couldn't afford the treatment.I can easily afford any treatment requested of me. I paid all bills upfront without question, so to be treated like some feckless vagrant daring to ask for quality care for my not-so-purebred/non-doodle mutt was too much for her apparently. Don't let the excessive "valet parking", free drinks, flashy office and etc fool you. These people basically stood by and let my dog die and didn't provide ALL options to save his life.Let me decide what's worth it!It's because of the Village Vets' absolute negligence, especially Dr. Slider, that my sweet dog is now dead and being prepared for cremation tomorrow morning. I never did get a "regular" appointment, but if you love your animals---don't come here for emergencies, and STAY AWAY from Dr. Slider at all costs. Read Less

The doctors and front desk staff have always been amazing....until today. The practice was great about calling me in advance to review expected charges related to todays dental and cherry eye surgery. As I waited in the lobby to get my pet I joked around with the front desk staff about my bill. Of course I paid it but reviewed it a few times.....it was $891. Another customer in the lobby weighed in about how services can be expensive. Overall it was a light conversation with a few jokes. The front desk even giggled as we talked. When the tech brought my dog over to me he said she had a little diarrhea from the surgery but when he placed her in my arms she smelled like poop- it was so bad, he said he would bathe her. The receptionist mistakenly thought I asked to see the vet so she disappeared and when she returned told me the vet would see me in Room #1. Side note: On another occasion when my dogs boarded at Village Vets upon picking them up, they smelled like poop. The vet entered the room and began pointing his finger at me yelling. I was in total shock. He said, “this is a hospital not a place for boarding and we told you that your dog may have diarrhea.” He went on to say, “I don’t appreciate you being disrespectful in the lobby so don’t come back to my practice.” Again, I was in total shock. I told him we were having a little fun and there was nothing malicious about our conversation. Needless to say, we will never return to their practice. It’s a sad day when one isn’t able to crack a smile to lighten the intensity of the stress in ones life. Further, diarrhea is one thing, smelling like you bathed in poop in another. Be well. ZERO STARS.  HORRENDOUS.  That's the best word I can think of to describe my visit here today.  My dog has three broken nails on three different legs.  He was seen and treated by our regular vet--NOT Village Vets--three weeks ago.  He should be healed up by now, but was in a lot pain last night (a Friday night).  It appears that his front nail, which was trimmed back when my vet sedated him a few weeks ago, is now growing in at an awkward angle and cutting into the sensitive quick underneath.Today is Saturday.  My regular vet is closed.  Village Vets is our "back-up" vet when our pets have issues at odd hours/days.  This was my second visit ever to this facility.  I called ahead this afternoon to see if I could get him in and and get his toe looked at to see what exactly was causing the pain (to make sure I was correct in my assessment) and get it fixed.  I was told when I called around 2:30 pm there was an hour wait and to come closer to 4:00-4:30.We got there at 4:00.  We were told we could not be seen until after 6:30 due to the high volume of cases they were taking care of.  Fine.  We left and came back, arriving just after 7:00 pm.  We were taken back quickly.  The vet "tech" (and I use this term in quotes, because this person should NEVER be allowed to handle animals--ever), came in, sat down and asked what the problem was.  I explained it to her.  She then told me that I could just get my regular vet to look at him and dremel the nail down.  Ummm. No.  I can't see my regular vet until Monday.  That's why I am here on a Saturday night.  My dog is in pain.  She started getting huffy when I pressed her for care. I asked her, "Have you seen his nail?"  knowing she hadn't even bothered to look at his nail, much less even acknowledge my dog was in the room from the moment she stepped in.  I asked her this THREE TIMES because she kept trying to diagnose my dog's issue WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING AT HIM.Finally I just point blank told her she hadn't looked at his nail to even know what his issue really was, so she gets down, grabs his paw, and twists it around to look at it for three seconds.  WTF???? At this point, I am getting very angry.  It was becoming quite clear this woman (stocky woman, short hair wearing a wrist brace--she never introduced herself so I had no name) did NOT want to be there, and was taking her crappy attitude out on me and my dog.She then FINALLY, after continuing to push her for care, suggest the doctor could look at it, but my punishment apparently for the doctor to look at it would entail "blood work and x-rays and sedation..."  I told her he was sedated three weeks ago, and already had recent blood work done, so why did he need it again?  I also asked why we needed x-rays for a broken toe-nail.  I pushed why he needed all this when she just said it could be fixed "by my regular vet" by dremeling the nail off and away from the quick.  Let me repeat this:  WHY IS IT THAT MY REGULAR VET CAN FIX HIS ISSUE DREMELING THE NAIL BACK, BUT YOU CAN'T??? Her response was to feed me more flimsy BS, making it VERY clear she intended to charge me for a bunch of bogus crap becuase she was mad she had to do more than just send me and my dog along our way with no care.  She left the room to go get a leash to take him back.  I grabbed all of my stuff and my dog and left.  I told the girl working the front desk on the way out about the horrendous care this person gave and that there was no way in hell I was going to let this individual take my dog out of my sight.  I could only imagine how much more poorly he would have been treated by this person away from my presence, considering how awful he was treated while I was in the room.  If you care about your pet, FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE TO TAKE THEM.  This vet tech should not be allowed to work here, much less handle animals anywhere else.  THIS IS A SERVICE JOB.  YOU PROVIDE A SERVICE.  THE OFFICE GETS $80 JUST FOR THE VET TO SEE THE ANIMAL, NOT INCLUDING ACTUAL CARE COSTS.  IF YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO PROVIDE THIS SERVICE, EITHER DON'T WORK HERE OR TAKE THE DAY OFF.  YOU DON'T GET TO TREAT OUR PETS LIKE CRAP, AND THEN UPCHARGE YOUR CLIENTS BECAUSE THEY PUSHED YOU FOR THE BARE MINIMUM CARE A VET OFFICE SHOULD PROVIDE.Feel free to put my dog's file in your shredder.  You know who we are.  We will NEVER step foot in this facility again, and make damn sure every pet owner I know doesn't either (oh, and after looking at your other crappy reviews, it looks like you're doing a bang-up job to ensure that happens all on your own.) Started using Village Vets when we moved to Decatur five years ago. Every encounter has made me feel ripped off. It starts with the unctuous talk of my dog as "your baby" (flattery designed to soften you up for the bill). The free sodas and cookies and luxurious facilities should also be a warning. I have walked out with sticker shock under the "couldn't care less" eyes of the regularly-changing front desk staff more than once. The final straw? To board, the dog will need a $65 medical exam every four months, which means that even as an occasional boarder for a few days each time, she will incur a charge of about $200 a visit each time. I asked to speak with a manager who cheerfully informed me that this was "hospital policy." I told him that (even at the risk of being ripped off elsewhere) I would take my chances at another vet, with a quick stop at Yelp first. He didn't seem at all concerned. I don't think someone cost-conscious with an aversion to being buttered up is the customer base they're aiming for. Read Less

When we moved to Decatur, Village Vets was recommended highly, but after our experiences there, I can't imagine why. First, we sent our pets' records from their previous vet in order to establish them as patients, thinking that this would be helpful should there be an emergency.  Within the year, we had an emergency, but they could not locate the records. We had to go ahead with the treatment, which was $$$ (possibly to be expected in an emergency situation). After this ordeal, we thought that surely they had our records. Just in case however, before boarding our pets, I called to make sure. Nope, no record of a $1000 emergency visit. So I called the previous vet again to ask that the records be sent again via fax and email just to make sure. When we arrived for boarding, guess what? No records. We had to make other arrangements for boarding since, understandably, they couldn't take pets without proof of vaccinations (and we didn't want to double up on vaccinations that we knew they'd already had). After a couple days of silently blaming the old vet for not sending the records, we learned that they had sent them. Multiple times. We are still not sure what happened at Village Vets, but we do know that the communication is very not good there, and that doesn't inspire confidence that they will be able to care for our animals. My two dogs have been patients of Dr. Chris Simmons at TVV Decatur since 2014. He is so good with them that I honestly do not dread their going for their visits (my dogs are fairly  high-strung, so this is a big deal). The entire staff is compassionate and professional. Dr. Simmons remembers little details about my dogs, which really shocks me, as he usually only sees them for their annual visit. When one of my dogs had a spinal problem, Dr. Simmons recommended a conservative treatment which did the trick. I know other vets would've immediately pushed for surgery, so I believe it's a very ethical practice, too. More dramatically, they saved my dogs' lives when they got into some sugar-free gum. I was so grateful for the emergency 24-hour care they received. The only negative about this practice is that the parking lot can get full, but that they have parking at all is a big plus in Decatur. His first few episodes, we took him to Blue Pearl emergency vets, but they recommended we find a regular vet to take him to. I tried this vet because I'd heard good things a few years ago. The vet recommended I euthanize him because I couldn't afford the ridiculously expensive care she recommended. She told me he'd never get better and this was going to keep happening. She talked over me and my partner. I'm so broken hearted about this experience. We were just about to euthanize him per the vet's recommendations when he finally stopped seizing. They wouldn't let us leave the clinic until we signed a promissory note to pay the $360 we owed for two rounds of anesthetic (which we told her wouldn't work) and an exam and a bunch of other things we didn't agree to. I didn't get approved for care credit. We had no options. It was 4am. So now I have to pay $360 to a clinic who told me to put down my dog because I was too poor to take care of him. Needless to say we take him to Bluepearl every time now which is cheaper, friendlier, and more efficient. We will never be back there. I'm still having SEVERE guilt and anxiety over almost killing my dog (who recovered and is FINE now!) because they said I was too poor to own a special needs dog. Obviously if I'd known he'd have epilepsy, I wouldn't have adopted him. But the options are giving him back (which would guarantee he'd be euthanized) or surrendering him to a (full, in need) special needs rescue. I love this dog. I got another job (I'm at four jobs now total) to pay for his care. I will work as hard as I have to to make sure he's cared for. Obviously, im totally supportive of other people who regime special needs dogs out of necessity. I'd never shame that, this is a really scary thing to deal with. However, I'm ashamed that I was made to feel irresponsible and dirty for being low income by a vet who was supposed to help. Never ever take an emergency need here and don't go here if you're at all low income. Read Less

I had been taking my two dogs here for years when they were at the old location and things were great. But then they got this new upscale facility and things went downhill. Now it's all about pushing high priced procedures and deceiving customers. I took my dog in because he was coughing badly and of course was told I needed some expensive procedure which came back negative. So then the doctor told me I needed to do another expensive procedure for which I had no money for. I asked her to give some type of medication to my dog because I was so worried. She said she didn't feel comfortable without doing the other expensive procedure first. So of course I couldn't afford it so I told her I needed to wait to save the money up. Well my dog has since died and it's been so painful because I felt like they cared more about squeezing money out of me instead of caring about my pet. Do stay away....you've been warned! Read Less

soon after we moved to atlanta our 15 year old dog was diagnosed with end stage cancer and had to be euthanized. Village vets did this for me and didn't charge me. I thought I had found the perfect vet. They were so compassionate. A year or so later at 3am my other dog woke me coughing and gagging. I immediately took her to the VV ER. The arrogant doctor that night treated us as if I were wasting their time. I was told that my dog was fine and they released her. The next day we returned to the regular vet because my dog was worse. Dr. McVety was amazing and did X-rays, blood tests and ultrasounds, we learned that my dog had pneumonia and a collapsed lung. She saved my dog's life and I will be ever grateful. If I had listened to the ER vet I may have lost my dog. Since then we have seen several other doctors and experienced good customer service. Today one of my dogs had a laceration and needed to be sedated and stitched up. The front desk told me they were busy with real emergencies like vomiting and a dog that got hit by a car. He suggested I come at 7pm to the ER vet. I tried to get in at several other vets and couldn't so I called village vets back to try to get an appt for Sunday. This time a very nice woman took my call and explained that they were booked and again suggested I see the ER vet. I explained to her that it's expensive and the last time I was basically laughed out the door after paying $200 so I'd prefer to see a regular vet. I explained what happened previously and said I was wary. She agreed and asked if I'd like to speak with the tech that was on tonight. I agreed and a few minutes later the tech got on the phone, already with a chip on her shoulder, and said hi I hear you have issues with the ER vet. I explained that it was more complicated than that. After trying to explain and getting nowhere, I asked her if there were other ER vet clinics, she told me who and where, I said ok and that I'd figure it out. At 8:30pm I showed up at village vets ER with my dog who was bleeding with an open wound. They asked for my name and shortly after said, oh we're refusing service to you. It seems there were complaints and you have issues with our pricing. I was shocked. Nobody I spoke to earlier said anything to me about refusal of service. Why would I drive my dog there? The woman left to go speak to management and then returned and repeated the same thing. She also said that the tech told me I needed to go to another vet because if I had issues with their misdiagnosis and prices than they weren't the vet for me. First nobody said those things to me. I asked for refs of other vets. I told the receptionist that they were liars. She said no they aren't, i'm taking their side. What? Is this 2nd grade? My dog is bleeding! Any ER vet that would refuse service to a bleeding dog needs to have complaints filed against them. Ironically, Village vets #1 core value is excellence. It's on a sign by their register. Excellence. Yet I mention that I'm wary because I received less than excellence service, and they respond by refusing service!! Unbelieveable! I will never give another dime to village vets. It is unfortunate that their egos are so big that you cannot disagree with them or complain without them taking it out on your dog, who they are in business to care for. Read Less

HORRENDOUSLY OVERPRICED services compared to multiple facilities in the area. I've NEVER had a good vibe walking into the door or when dealing with Vets at this facility. They will nickel and dime you to death. To the point that you will understand, when you leave, that the only thing that matters to these people is the bottom line. Check your receipt and question everything. What people need to understand is that every night, the owner of this place goes to bed thinking to himself.."Welp, we did again! I can't wait to get to work tomorrow and see how we can gouge more people out of their money!!1"Seriously folks. Avoid this place. Do your homework and call around. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE...THEY ARE SCARY DISORGANIZED. This is not my regular vet. I adopted a wonderful dog thru an amazing rescue organization and as part of that adoption, my dog needed to be spayed and microchipped at one of their "partner vets"...which turned out to be Village Vets in Decatur. I called the day before my appointment to make sure there was nothing additional I needed to bring, and they confirmed they had everything they needed already. So I was rather surprised when I arrived and they said that they didn't have any of her medical records, and the form I was filling out stated that I would be charged for a heartworm test if she didn't have one on file. She had just had one in January, but since they didn't have the records, I would be charged for that. I went home and e-faxed them the records. I called them to make sure they received the fax, as I don't trust fax machines. Whomever picked up the phone could not have been more rude...I was clearly bothering them. They sounded as if I had just asked them to solve world hunger...rather than to check their fax machine. A few minutes later, I received an email. This person (on their Reception Team) was wondering if (the name that my dog had when she was with the rescue group) and (the new name I gave my dog when I adopted her) were the same dog. This seemed odd to me, as I had clearly explained it to the reception desk staff that very morning, and the paperwork that I filled out that morning should have helped to put two-and-two together. This is not rocket science here. I replied that yes, they were the same dog, and that the records were complete...no additional vaccines or medications had been given other than those records. Seven minutes later, I get another email from the same girl in the Reception Team saying: "I'm sorry I can't find a file under your name. Have you filled out the online form to transfer ownership? When is her appointment?". SeriouslyAt this point, email is clearly not working, so I called her. She was clearly exasperated when she answered the phone, and I did my best to clear up the confusion. However, the fact that she was unaware that my dog was actually in her facility at that very moment was just insane. What kind of records do they keep there? Does the left hand know what the right is doing at all? If this is how their OFFICE is run....what is going on back in the back with the MEDICAL personnel? Do THEY know which end is up? I'm honestly wondering if they do....because my little itsy bitsy Chihuahua (she weighs all of 7 pounds) came out of her spay procedure with an incision that is almost 4-inches long. It takes up almost her entire abdomen. I have owned female dogs all my life...every one of them has been spayed. I have NEVER EVER seen a spay incision that has been this long....EVER. To top it off, when I picked up my dog, they forgot to give me her microchip tag and information. When I called the following day, they gave me grief about it. They tried to say that they only send that to the rescue group. Which makes NO SENSE, as I have already adopted this dog. I legally own this dog. The dog wears the identification tag....not the rescue group. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I will never go anywhere near The Village Vets again...even if it is an emergency. NEVER AGAIN. Read Less

Thank You Dr. Janine Franco for murdering our beloved Serengeti cat. In memory of Master Haile Selassie, April 17, 2013 to March 14, 2015, who died because of Veterinarian Dr. Janine Franco of the Village Vets misdiagnosed him with a disease that he did not have and then allowed him to suffer through the administration of the wrong medicines and the refusal to give him a feeding tube, so he could get nutritional food every day. I strongly advise anyone to avoid this hospital for feline diseases. Based on the five star reviews, I trusted their personnel with the care and treatment of our Serengeti cat and they slaughtered him to death. No matter how much I protested what they were doing, their egos ignored me. They twice misdiagnosed feline infectious leukemia, which if diagnosed correctly would have allowed our cat to have the correct treatments and care. Every night, I see our cat struggling to stay alive and this is my daily torture. I extremely hate these people and I pray every day that God rewards them fully for their negligence. Since his death caused by the horrible neglect of this facility, I must have shed buckets of tears, not to mention develop severe post-traumatic stress disorder and depressive grief. I will never as long as I live forget Dr. Franco's unprofessional and rude patient care and I can only wish for the benefit of all pets that pet owners decide not to accept treatments from Village Vets doctors, who in my opinion are operating a confidence racket Read Less

I feel so lucky to have discovered the Village Vets in Decatur.I came across this excellent facility, when I needed a Travel certificate for my babies: Frida and Flash, so I could bring them to Cuba with me for the holidays. There was great communication prior to the appointment and Dr Finke really seemed to know about the travel certificate process and was concerned about making sure I had everything I needed so I would have a stress-free trip through customs. I arrived at the Village Vets and there was plenty of parking in their private lot. The facility was spacious spotlessly clean, and with a welcoming warm decor. The receptionists greeted with a welcoming smile. Coffee, water and sofas offered in the waiting area. On our first visit we met with Dr Finke. The examination room was also spotless. The nurses were friendly, the care received from Dr Finke was reassuring, and the checkout was fast and efficient. They also have a punch card, for every $100 you spend you get a stamp and after $4000 you get money back on your visit. I know it sounds like a lot, but especially if you don't have pet insurance, doctor bills can rack up for your little ones and it's easy to spend $4000 bucks, so it's nice they give you a little back.I have been to this location several times and seen several doctors and each visit has been five stars. Recently I went because one of my dogs was balding and we were worried he might have something terrible--it turned out he just had a bad sun burn, and the doctor was so sweet, she even called us the day after our visit just to check up on Flash. Every doctor and nurse at this facility evidently loves and cares about animals and it shows. I trust The Village Vets with my little furry ones. Read Less

I take care of my boyfriend's aunt's cat, and she began acting very strange early Christmas Eve, exhibiting difficulty breathing and dragging litter in and out of the litter box. Since she was in obvious distress, my mother and I took her to Village Vets 24 hour emergency clinic, in hopes to find the source of her problem. After charging a whopping $367 for just three blood tests, her owner called saying she would be on the way soon. While the vet tech was very nice and sweet, the veterinarian herself was the most unsympathetic and in-compassionate person. She came into the room to inform my mother and I that our sweet kitty was suffering from severe anemia and was also beginning to experience kidney failure. When we thought the vet was done speaking, we told her that the owner would be arriving soon, and we would like to wait for her to arrive before we made anymore decisions. The vet looked disgusted, and rudely remarked, "Well fine, I'll just leave now and come back and repeat myself all over again". She then proceeded to get up, and slam the door behind her. It was the most unprofessional thing I had ever witnessed. Yes, we have a strange dynamic, considering the cat does not live with her actual owner, but there was no reason why the veterinarian had to treat us as though the living situation was inconvenient for her. The office was not even busy at the time. Once the owner arrived, the vet came back and explained everything again. My mother, who is a nurse, asked questions about the cat's condition using human-specific medical terms in order to understand the situation, and the vet's responses were belittling, and she spoke to my mother as though she were an idiot. When my mother asked for clarification on a concept, the vet responded in a snarky manner with, "Yes, I just said that. Let me repeat myself again." Our estimate was over $2800, which we expressed we could not afford, and the vet seemed indifferent. The vet tech, who was the exact opposite of the veterinarian, informed us about more affordable options to treat our cat, such as Dearborn Animal Hospital and Well Pet Humane. We made the decision to leave Village Pets not only due to their extreme un-affordability, but the lack of professionalism and compassion on the veterinarian's part. Do not take your pet here. You, nor your animal, will be treated with respect. They only care about money here. Ending note, while the vet tech was kind enough to give us more affordable options, her parting words were very rude. They had found a few fleas on our kitty when she arrived at the clinic, and the vet tech spoke to my mother as though she had literally set the fleas loose on the cat, stating that my mother needed to, and I quote, "Bomb the crap" out of her house. It was a very unprofessional way to say, "Hey, here are some options for flea control inside the home." Again, don't take your pets here. Do not give this place your money. They charge too much and they are rude. Read Less

Dreadfully Slipshod and Exceptionally IrresponsibleIn our opinion, The Village Vets damaged and shorten the life of our beloved cat. In our opinion, their staff, which I refuse to call doctors of veterinary medicine, imposed so much emotional damage to our lives that I am continually experiencing nightmares and insomnia. The following review is our opinion of the events regarding our experiences with the Village Vets. We noticed Sunday that our almost 2 year old male cat, was struggling walking up the stairs. We rushed him the Village Vets for an examination. We told them, he stopped eating Thursday but today we noticed he was having problems moving around. Since his temp was 104, the staff wanted to keep him overnight for more testing and to administer IV fluids. Our agreement to allow them to keep our cat was the absolutely the biggest mistake, that I will regret for the rest of my life. After doing several tests, x-rays, blood chemistry profiles, the staff concluded he had feline infectious peritonitis, FIP. We were told FIP is fatal and there were no treatments for the disease. Before the diagnosis of FIP, the staff diagnosed and treated for haemobartonellosis, feline infectious anemia, because of the presence of anemia, lethargy, loss of appetite and dehydration. They did not tell us whether they tested him for Mycoplasma haemofelis, the parasite that causes feline infectious anemia. They also did a biopsy for cancer, which they claimed was negative. Approx. four days after admission, the staff discharged our cat with a high temperature and several Rx medications (approx. costs $2100). They said he was eating (because they gave him high doses of an appetite stimulant) and for us to monitor his temperature and give the medications as instructed. We reported daily an elevated temperature (103 to 104) and the loss of appetite. They Rx an appetite stimulant, but nothing for the elevated temperature, did not recheck his blood chemistry profile and red blood cell volume. We gave the appetite stimulant and our cat had no change in appetite, therefore we made an appointment to see their staff again, because he had lost several pounds from not eating. In the Village Vets our cat temperature was still high and he had lost considerable weight. The staff refused to insert a feeding tube, admit him to their hospital for follow up tests, change the medication, (given to treat haemobartonellosis), treat the high temperature or refer our cat to a Vet specialty hospital. They said, use the syringe to feed the Hills Rx canned food and continue giving the medications. They also said, we can order the PI (Polyprenyl immunostimulant) drug to treat his FIP. Our cat continued to decline in health so much so he could no longer walk or stand. His red cell count dropped, so low that he went into shock. We rushed him to Ga Vet Specialist, and the GVS doctors diagnosed him with lymphoma, not feline infectious anemia and not feline infectious peritonitis. For several days, I watched in horror as our beloved cat slowly died from the shock brought on by anemia, loss of appetite and dehydration; the very same symptoms that the Village Vets not only misdiagnosed horribly but failed to treat responsibly as qualified doctors of veterinary medicine. My usband cried for three days, I have never stopped weeping and every night I scream in my sleep. In less than one month of being treated by the Village Vets, our cat died an extremely suffering death. In our opinion the staff of the Village Vets killed our most beloved Serengeti. Please never allow them to treat your kitten and/or cat, because their mistakes may cause your beloved to suffer needlessly. Read Less

I am highly upset and would not recommend this vet to any body! SAVE YOUR DOG THE PAIN AND DONT GO HERE!!!

The surgery was not great either cause he later got an infection and the entire surgery and wound treatment had to be redone. I would have been pleased with the services if the pain meds were not forgotten. Seeing my dog in pain was sad and the clinics  response was just "we forgot". If need services and this place is your only option is reasonable suitable. Read Less

I'd go back in an emergency but will keep looking for a regular vet. The visiting vet we saw was nice & thorough, but maybe too much? We'd only come in for a booster shot but when I mentioned puppy had spit up the vet suggested shots, pills & lab tests, AND skip what we came for all together. I said I'd rather try bland food for a few days & I'm glad I did. Puppy has been great ever since, though she still needs her shots! To think we'd  have given her shots & drugs for nothing makes me sad for the poor pup. People are different so some would rather have done all of the expensive tests, but I'd rather go the holistic route with reason. I'm glad I did. Still seeking a vet. Read Less

I have a special needs epileptic dog. I adopted him in March not knowing he was epileptic. Obviously this has been terrifying for us.

Read Less

Read Less

I agree that you should save your animal and you the aggravation and go elsewhere to a business where people actually care. The group I work with had an account there so I agreed to take a dog there. They were less than honest, arrogant and they could care less about the animal. The first time I went there I assumed they were having a bad day so when we needed a vet again I tried one more time. They were worse the second time than they were the first time. The owner of the business contacted them and they assured her they could accommodate the dog. We drove over an hour to hear that the owner had been given incorrect information by their representative. They were not at all concerned that their error left everyone in an impossible situation. They responded in an arrogant manner that it did not matter what their representative had agree to it would be done their way. We will never go there again. Read Less

SAVE YOUR ANIMAL THE PAIN AND GO SOMEWHERE MORE QUALIFIED!!!This place is horrible! I brought my dog in beacuse a coyote attacked her. They basically told me I was lying about the situation and that it was due to a dog fight beacuse she is a pitbull!!!Because of 3 days of no real attention alot of the tissue in her open leg wound has died. My dogs leg WAS savable and now it has to be amputated because they let my dog sit there for almost 3 days before doing the first debridement!!! I am highly upset and would not recommend this vet to any body! SAVE YOUR DOG THE PAIN AND DONT GO HERE!!! I WISH I NEVER DID NOW I HAVE TO LIVE WITH KNOWING WHAT THEY DID IS MY FAULT FOR TAKING HER THERE!... Read Less
