This is a very caring and friendly place. We have multiple cats and a dog. Most of our pets were strays and ones that I "inherited" when my parents suddenly passed away. The staff helped me through multiple problems with the animal health issues and didn't charge an arm and a leg. My dog has cushings disease and the vet even emailed me additional information on what to watch out for. It's always nice to see the staff members actually caring on a personal level for the animals as well as the owner's feelings. When one one my cats passed away that I had for 15 years I even received a card in the mail with condolences from all the staff members. This is the only place I trust my pet's medical needs to. Douglas Oaks is a simply the best. Both Dr. Hobby and Dr. Gallagher are extremely knowledgeable and personable. The staff is also amazing. They are all caring, friendly, and professional. We have taken our dog, Calvin, to Douglas Oaks since he was a puppy and have always been pleased with his treatment and the prices for service. Calvin actually enjoyed coming to the clinic and seeing some of his favorite people who always showered him with love. Recently, Calvin was diagnosed with acute leukemia. Dr. Hobby and all of the Douglas Oaks staff have been incredible during this difficult situation. Dr. Hobby has truly gone above and beyond in everything that she has done, from explaining the reasoning behind some the testing and medication recommended by the specialist (who was not as willing or able to break done the technical lingo into layman€s terms) to setting aside time to help us plan for Calvin€s eventual departure. Her compassion and support has been unparalleled. Dr. Hobby has made this situation a little easier to handle and has helped us make informed decisions so that we can do the right thing for our pup. We love Dr Gallagher & Dr Hobby! They both are just the BEST!! Now we typically see Dr Hobby because she just loves our sweet babies! She always makes such a fuss over them and they actually are pretty calm for her - especially Socks!! She has an incredible way with cats and the owners too! But don't be fooled Dr Gallagher is very good too and I wouldn't hesitate one minute for him to see our babies. They both have good hearts and care about their furbaby patients and their parents too!! I am never disappointed with the heart they show! Even when we've had to make 2 hard decisions in the past - they gave us time and worked with us - especially Dr Hobby! She never left our side that night until we were ready! These people are amazing. My cat Bella was having a very hard time breathing and seemed to be in distress. I called 4 veterinary offices this past Saturday and no one could see her and referred me to an emergency vet that was 2 hours away. I called Douglas Oaks and explained what was going on and they told me to come in immediately. Unfortunately Bella was diagnosed with pretty bad lung cancer. Took Yoda to the Vet this morning. Waiting for blood tests to see if his anal tumors are cancerous. Say a prayer or two please. I had been bringing my dogs here for years under the care of the previous vet before he sold his practice and it simply isn't the same!Pricing has gone way up and you can't bring your dog (and I'm assuming cat) in without being hit with lab tests that aren't likely to contribute to the plan of care and may not add anything to a diagnostic picture but certainly contribute generously to your bill. In addition, when we finally moved and went to another provider we got to see notes that were highly unprofessional. The comments noted in the chart were the outcropping of one interaction with a tech who came out to the waiting room (filled with about four other customers) and loudly announced, "you know your dog has whip worm really bad right?" We found the approach HIGHLY unprofessional! We had questions about the treatment and then chain of infection but the tech continuously over talked my husband (something he does NOT tolerate well) and went on her own rant and failed to answer any questions that we were asking and finally when my husband interrupted HER to say "look we just want to know the following" she actually put her hand up to his face to gesture to shut up! The office staff saw it and told the tech that she needed to leave us at that point. I called back to tell the vet we found the tech rude and that she was to no longer have any responsibility caring for our pet. The note in the chart referenced that we were "demanding" for expecting an apology and stating we no longer wanted to interact with this tech.Our mother in law continued to use them but she has also had problems with their pricing - today, she inquired about frontline and was told their price was sixty something dollars, their website quoted 43 for the same exact meds. They tried to make me understand why they don't match their own pricing - I didn't see the need to quibble with them over that particular line of stupidity. Read Less

Dr. Hobby single handily saved my cats life this Sunday (11/22/2015). Hedi has a condition in which he has a difficult time urinating or can't urinate at all. This condition is fatal if not treated immediately. He needed a catheter because his bladder was very full and he couldn't pee. The emergency clinic turned us away be use we couldn't pay the 2,000 dollars they charge for the procedure. Dr. Hobby came in on her day off and when her sister was in town visiting. She needed a vet tech to monitor his anesthesia which is why she sent us to an emergency clinic first. Since no one was available and he was knocking on deaths door she decided to get his oxygen ready and anesthesia and inserted his catheter by herself. It was temporary relief because he needed 24 hour fluids and the catheter in all night but for Sunday I was able to bring my baby home with some comfort. He got blocked again that night and needed to go in the very next morning for that catheter and 24 hour drip. He's back home again today and peeing like he hasn't been able to pee in weeks and eating like no body's business! Dr. Hobby showed me and my cat compassion and kindness. She truly cares so much for every fur baby that walks through their door. I'll recommend this animal hospital to everyone I see. Because of Dr. Hobby and Dr. Gallagher Hedi is alive.Read Less

This is the most amazing Vet we have ever visited. The staff is extremely friendly, helpful, and caring. They were so sweet with our older dog who was sick. When she passed, they were with us every step of the way. They even sent a card signed by the entire staff after we lost her. I have never felt so comfy and cared for by a vet. Our dog, Marley has gone to Douglas Oaks since we moved to Douglasville in 2000. As she got older, she had to go to the vet more often and we got to know Dr. Hobby and Dr. Gallagher. They provided beyond excellent care for Marley and were wonderful in making sure that we understood the details involved with her care. They were always available by phone after hours, amazing these days! When Marley's congestive heart failure got too bad and her breathing became difficult, Dr. Hobby met us at the hospital at 8:30 on a Saturday night. She eased our sweet girl's suffering in an amazing environment of love and support. Her support of my husband and me was just so kind. Today was my first visit and I have to say I was extremely impressed. I've had dogs aka children ... since I was old enough to work. I've used a lot of vets over the years and I have to say this is the best one yet. It was clean, yes clean, smelled fresh, waiting area was pleasant and comfortable ... But most if all, they paid attention to my baby girl. They asked questions, gave recommendations, spent time learning my darlin girl and I didn't feel rushed in the least.
