If I could give them 10 stars I would! Took my pup here the day after I got him and they made sure that I was bringing home a healthy baby boy! Unfortunately, my sweet little pup had a cold (which they promptly diagnosed and gave me Antibiotics for) and the next day I was back at All Creatures with the absolute worst scare I've had with any of my pets. He wasn't eating, walking or even lifting his head  The Staff in front grabbed him as soon as I arrived and immediately took him to the back! They kept me informed after every test they ran while I sat in the waiting area. They were very quick, professional and they comforted me when I came to tears from the news that he would be admitted with them for a few days. Needless to say, they answered every question, they kept me updated everyday 2x/day & when he was ready to come home, my baby boy was even more lively than when I got him! I have taken all the family pets here. The doctors are thorough and caring. The office staff takes time with each client about cost, medicines, follow up appointments and care. If a pet needs immediate attention they will work it into the schedule like when my dog got bit by a snake. When the pets were boarded there I could call and get daily updates about how they were doing. After a surgery when the pet was mending I was able to visit daily so the pet knew it wasn't being abandoned. I read some of the other reviews and quite frankly in the seven years I have been taking pets there I have not observed the negative behaviors mentioned in the reviews. I have only had good experiences here.  I took my one year old dachshund here after I adopted her.  Dr. Akins spent a lot of time with us during our initial appointment.  As a first time dog owner, he and the rest of the office staff gave me so much helpful information and guidance on helping my very shy and skittish dog adjust.  They allowed us to come to the free puppy class on Saturdays to help her socialize.  Puppy class is like an open Q&A to get more advice on potty training, socializing, training, etc.  They were always able to answer my questions.  I took my dog back for medical treatment when she began picking some of her fur out.  They were very thorough and called me many times throughout the day to give me updates on her tests and get authorization before doing more tests.  They offer drop off appointments, so I was able to drop her off before work.  I spoke to another doctor after the final tests were done and she gave me a clear picture of the treatment.  She was also able to answer other questions that I have been having about my dog's weight, etc.I also use the grooming services here (bath and nail trim).  They do a good job.I also use them for boarding, which is very reasonably priced ($22 per night).  You are able to bring your own food or use the food that they provide.  You can also choose to leave belongings for your dog.  My dog always seems safe and happy when I pick her up.  The front desk staff is always friendly and helpful. Some are horrible at communicating to people and calling back. The woman i spoke to was unbelievably rude and i cant stand the fact that i dont know whats happening or how he is doing. However, I will say that they are very quick with communication and updates when your dog is sickly. My puppy has ammonia and he has a 50/50 chance and they sent him quickly to a pet hospital and he is getting every treatment he can and they have been incredibly helpful. Read Less

When I first got my Boston Terrier I took him to All Creatures. I was not notified until almost two months later that he had worms. No one called me. I did not find out about the worms until I called about getting my puppy on heart worm prevention. 6 months later, I have moved out of state and All Creatures denied a prescription I placed on chewy.com because it's time for a "annual check up" but his annual checkup would be in December. Also, they take your dog in the back and give them the shots, and nail clippings. Regardless, this place will never see another penny from me. Read Less

I absolutely love the staff and doctors here and have been taking my dog here for years. They are really great at what they do. My only complaint is their pricing. She claimed it was pink eye and gave me some meds for it; even though I told her I had already treated my rabbit for pink eye. The visit in total was 120. She told me I needed to come back in a week for a recheck which I did. When I came back she told me she really didn’t know what was wrong with my rabbit and tried to play it off as it may just be how she naturally looks. Baldwin’s around a rabbits eyes is not natural. Rather than being honest with me the first visit and saying she didn’t know what was wrong she played me just for another visit. The second visit was 78 dollars. All these people care about is money they are incompetent in their profession and are scammers. Stay away from this place. Also they ran test on my rabbit without my consent. They will delete bad reviews as they did mine; which is why I’m reposting now. This place cannot treat all animals but they will take your money and pretend they know what they’re doing. Between the long line of recent 1 star reviews, my experience, and what I saw from other people, I don't honestly know how they're still in business. I only needed to buy some food... pretty simple, right? Well, it's a combination of how I saw their staff interact with other patients, and my horrible experience, that makes me concerned for other animals. There was a dog there for boarding (a ~10 lb ankle biter), and they said that when they tried to take the food away from it, it got aggressive and tried to bite them. The staff made a much larger deal out of it than they needed to and forced the owner to sign an aggressive animal policy. I'm standing there in disbelief watching this. Certainly not handled professionally. (Lesson 1 - don't disturb an animal when it's eating.) This tells me their staff isn't properly trained, nor has any common sense.The waiting room is dirty. Not really bad like piles of crap all around... the dirt that accumulates over a decade or two and just never gets cleaned well. It's the kind of dirt that makes me question how well anything in the back is actually kept clean.Back to my point. I needed a bag of food. I bought one, ordered one more, and thought that was it. (They insisted on getting my email address, and it took me 2 weeks to get off their daily spam emails.) I was told I'd be called in a week when it arrived. After 10 days I called inquiring about it, and they said it was on backorder and would be in the follwoing week. So I called back another 10 days later and they said it was in. I guess their phones don't make outgoing calls... Then I get there and they jack the price up by over 250%. I walked out and didn't buy it. My puppy has been going to all creatures Animal Hospital since I purchased on December 9th from petland Dunwoody. Chloe  was diagnosed with a cold And had been on treatment we had our recheck on the 26th of December and Was told that my puppy was fine the dr even insisted on giving Chloe her last round of shots I knew that she wasn't well still so I took her else we're for a second opinion the very next day on December 27th where they did a thorough check in front of me plus performed x rays and I found out that  my fur baby had pneumonia in both lungs. DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMAL TO THIS HOSPITAL! They do not care or treat the animals properly. My puppy died under their care because they neglected my fur baby and did not give him the proper care he needed to recover. Since 1997, when we lived in the Dunwoody area,  we have enjoyed the kind, attentive, services of Dr. Mike and Dr. Karolyn at All Creatures. Both are highly skilled, and deeply empathetic. Our dogs actually look forward to a visit there! Our weeks-old Aussie--"Frisco"-was our first puppy, and my husband and I later adopted an older pup--a  Golden Retriever from Golden Retriever Rescue Association of Atlanta, "Chewy", whom we re-named "Louie". "Louie" lived to be almost 15 years old (!!), and we credit the great care at All Creatures for his good quality of life and longevity! Cancer is common in Australian Shepherds, and "Frisco" succumbed at nearly 11 years old, but the care and compassion shown us, was life-changing. In 2009, we  adopted a  female GSD, "Afton", from "Big Canoe Animal Rescue", and then a male GSD in 2011, and the female is now almost 11, and in great shape, and the male is nearly 9, and has the energy of a puppy! We are very happy with ALL the doctors at All Creatures, and have stayed loyal to them, even though we live far from their office.Highly Recommend them, as they give DETAILED analysis and handout sheets, after each and every visit, so that you understand every condition or issue, your dog may have. Horrible experience. I wouldn't recommend this place to my biggest rival. They definitely committed malpractice by not following standard procedure when giving my pet an operation. For example they did not check up on my pets physical condition since the last time we visited 6 months ago. We had some experience with reptiles before, and knew how these pets require specialists who understand their physiology- and thanked the referring vet for having advised us to go elsewhere.All Creatures' office is friendly and accommodating. The appointments are well-orchestrated, the front desk staff is really helpful, and the facility is clean. We ended up having some serious issues with the manner in which Drs. Akins handled our lizards' illnesses.Our bearded dragon had a swollen toe when we first brought him in. X-rays were done, and he was put on Baytril, an oral antibiotic. During the course of the treatment over the upcoming weeks, his condition became worse and worse. We began seeing bumps and hives on his skin, his appetite decreased, the claws on his foot fell out, and the toe which was at first swollen had become necrotic. We continued to go to All Creatures, and were told not to worry- as the antibiotics need a long time to take effect. Blood tests were then done after a few months, We ended up moving across the country to another state and took our dragon to a veterinary teaching hospital; where we were dismayed to learn that the infection was fungal, and had progressed far past the point of recovery. He had to be put down.We also had an African Fat-tailed Gecko which we brought in due to having lost his appetite and seeing blood in his stool. We were told by Dr Akins not to worry, that he was healthy and "needed to lose weight anyway". We brought him home, and made another appointment with All Creatures a week after seeing the symptoms becoming more severe and losing 20% of his weight. He was then given a stool test, and put on an anti-pinworm medicine. It was too late by then, and he died days later.At the end of the day, we lost two pets to bad practice. This could have been avoided if All Creatures had done the requisite testing at first. In our Bearded Dragon's case, the doctor at the teaching hospital asked why blood work hadn't been done earlier... we couldn't answer that. With our gecko, the doctor didn't do an examination at first and only took a visual look to say that he looked healthy.Exotic pets need special doctors, and I would advise anyone in the Atlanta area to not make the same mistake we did, and FULLY do their research before choosing where to take their pet reptile. Find another vet! Among other things, our list includes...completely missing the fact that our dog had cataracts...although we took him to all the routine check-ups, misdiagnosing heart worms in our second dog, trying to charge us for their negligence in post operative care, etc., etc., etc. We have followed every piece of advice offered, paid every single bill in full, at time of service. The final straw was when the owner/vet himself came out (which he never does) to give us the most unbelievable level of poor customer service I have ever experienced. There's a lot I can say about this,place, but I will try to stick to facts and also limit the perception to be informative. Only to prevent someone from thinking this hospital is going to provide the best care.I may edit this to include more details when I have the strength to do so.What I will provide is that they treated a critical case when they should have released my pups care to a location with more support. From what I observed the location is understaffed and took an influx over a busy holiday weekend.They said he would be monitored every 3 to 4 hours. The prior veterinarian I went to suggest being fed every 2 hours. They said they would not do that, but would closely monitor and feed 3 to 4 times a day.With the monitoring of at least every 4 hours, I thought this would be okay with the iv.Then they call to state in the morning when they came back he didntmake it overnight and they are sorry I was under the impression of him being observed overnight. Apparently if it's not in writing they can change their mind and not inform you.This in my view is negligent.If they had informed me that they had changed the course of action in his care this would of allowed me an opportunity to relocate him sooner. I was robbed of my beloved puppy and a chance to give him 100% attentive care.This is not to test knowledge or skills this is them taking away a choice and wanting me to pay for services not fully rendered.  Ask them how many pets are assigned to each doctor ,ask them details, get it in writing or better yet go somewhere you trust.There are friendly people there,there are skilled people there, but the communication is not as frequent as they have not enough staff to relay information in a timely fashion.I had visited other vets. I didn't return to those locations because they were places stating they didnt do overnightAnd daytime care, the very thing I needed for him.These are not small differences. Besides vaccinations think twice is my opinion. Another thing, I didn't buy my pet from Petland. My pup may or may not of made it, but he was not monitored the way I was told. Not guessed, told.It was the last question I asked the female technician when I last saw my puppy. Is he watched at least every 3 to 4 hours? The staff is friendly on the phone and in person. They treated my rabbit the way I treat her. After her dental surgery, Dr. Mike was very informative and had pictures to show what he done. The surgery was done on Friday, and I received a follow up call from the staff asking how she was doing, to make sure she was okay. Good riddance!Been waiting to write a review for this place!We were first introduced to All Creatures by Petland, Dunwoody where we got our pup.It's our first pet, so naturally, we went here as recommended.Over the past 3 years that we have been coming here, the following were the issues.1) On our first visit, we were recommended a food brand that is actually not that healthy.  This shows that they're more about financial gain than anything because I'm sure they get something extra by the brand. This was very small to dismiss and we did our own research and switched over to Blue Buffalo right away.2) Anesthesia shot?... All Creatures recommended that we do surgery on our dog's mouth as one of her tooth was trapped underneath the gum so they wanted to make a slit to let it out.  Okay, we agreed and on the day of the surgery, they declined to do the surgery, as they found out that the tooth was backwards and can be more harmful to grow it out than let nature take its course.  That's totally fine, but they still charged me for $250 anesthesia?  So do they put the dog to sleep for the X-ray?  Even if so, I would think the cost should have been reduced as they did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING but waste my time and $$$! 3) Heart guard medicine... So not sure if this is actually mandatory but we have been recommended to get this since we got our pup. That's fine, but every time we order from All Creatures, there's been a delay in delivery.  Our dog is an indoor dog, so even the delay was acceptable, but on top of that, we had to go get the medicine from All Creatures EVERY TIME, even though we have specifically worked with the front desk staff to get it delivered directly to our house.  Even worse, we have to do follow up calls to even track it down to find out that it's been delivered to the vet, not our house.  You would think they would give you a call in this instance, but no...  With frustration, I did blow up last time and the guy at the front desk did try to make this right and got it delivered to our house, but still with delays from the vendor and when I called the vet, one of the ladies at the front desk had me on hold and never picked up the call. I have no words... even writing this at this moment makes me angry.4) Quarterly check up... This was the last draw... Recently, All creatures "added" quarterly check up.  Don't bother because it's a waste of time and $. We waited to see the doctor and all she did was give our dog a nice long stretch... and that was it, our dog is in good condition. I do that every morning for free... Again, it shows that All Creatures is just out for the $$$. After all this, I think I was fairly generous giving this place 3 stars.  3 stars for 3 years of taking care of my dog's health, whether it was good or bad experience.  But definitely would not recommend this place and I'm thrilled we have found a new place that is CARING and ORGANIZED. ACAH has taken great care of my dog for the last two years. When we arrive for his appointment, my dog walks in like he owns the place and seems excited to see his friends (the staff). Everyone is so loving toward him and friendly to me. Dr. Mike spends time talking to us and never rushes us even when we asked endless questions about our puppy that we didn't know how to care for! Now we don't ask nearly as many questions but we are never rushed. He plays with our dog and pets him while he talks with us and our little guy runs right to him with his tail wagging. Love these people!! Me and my fiance have 2 young Chihuahuas (Trixie - 6months and Teddy - 1yr 6months old). Teddy had cherry eye last summer and they took great care of him! Last weekend, Teddy was rushed to the emergency animal hospital, he had swallowed a rather large plastic piece of a chew toy and we didn't know. Well, he got very ill so we took him in right away. They had to operate and admister all kinds of treatments to try and save his life. it wasn't looking good and the emergency doctors gave him less than 5% chance of survival and didn't think he would make it through the night (Sunday night). Well we had to pick him up at 7:30 Monday morning as the emergency clinic closes at 8am. we then transported him to our vet (all creatures of Dunwoody). They cared for him around the clock (even took him home with them where the vets have a small clinic built onto their house!) We knew he was in good hands as they monitored his vitals 24/7 and continued treatment! We were finally able to pickup our boy on Thursday evening and he's doing much better as we expect a full recovery!! We love the staff and doctors at All Creatures and thank them from the bottom of our heart for taking care of Teddy and helping to save his life!! We highly recommend them for all your pets needs, very professional, helpful, understanding, friendly, experienced, honest, and eager to help take care of your fur-babies!! also take advantage of their "wellness plans" that they offer, well worth it and makes routine care for your animal a breeze!! I take two of my cats to this vet and I absolutely love the Akins practice. The staff was very helpful and accomodating, and Dr. Akins spent a great deal of time with my husband and I and our kitties. I will never forgive nor will I forget what this place did to my dog. If your pet is on IV, they leave the pet by themselves overnight. It is not safe. They kept my dog for 2 weeks. Her condition was pancratitis. They would not allow me to see her. I made several attempts to find out how she was during that time. I had to call for updates. After treatment the condition my dog was returned to me was awful. She died a week later after leaving All Creatures. They also lie to you about your charges. Before treatment you are required to sign a contract. After my dog's treatment I spent over $1500 more than what the contract stated. No phone call, no warning. Stay away. Read Less

WAY TOO EXPENSIVE and want to charge for extra things that may not be needed. Every service they provide is much more expensive than other vets in the area. They also charge for things that almost nobody out there does. The same generic medicine for my dog was costing me $40+ for a month supply. At my new vet, I pay $40+ for a 2 1/2 month supply. They wanted me to pay for a bunch of services (about $500) otherwise they would not refill my ill dog's medicine. I switched immediately to another vet (with awesome reviews) and they refilled the same medicine without having to do all those things and the visit and services only cost me $110. A friend of mine just switched as well since they wanted to charge $70 every time she took her dog to them (this is for her dog not being friendly), they said it was risky for them ?????
