Dr. Keith Cox has been practicing veterinary medicine since 1990 and has been serving Flowery Branch and surrounding communities since 2005. About our Veterinarians:
Dr. Cox
Keith Cox was born in New Orleans and graduated from Auburn University. He has worked as a large animal and small animal veterinarian and as a biomedical researcher since graduating from the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1990. He joined Pet Care Associates in May of 2005 and has taken on the role of ownership since October of 2008. His professional interests include; keen interests in internal medicine, pathology, clinical pathology, and developing new diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities to serve his clients. Dr. Cox is married to Pam and has two teenage sons. His interests include hiking, fishing, reformed theology, church planting, growing tomatoes, and amateur astronomy.
Dr. Dodson
Vanessa Dodson grew up in upstate New York, and attended Cornell University for her undergraduate degree. She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Georgia in 2002. She has been practicing small animal medicine since then, both day practice and some emergency work.
Dr. Dodson has been working with Pet Care Associates part-time since January of 2005. She says, “I enjoy all aspects of small animal practice, but especially enjoy surgery, dentistry, and feline medicine. I really enjoy the personal touch that Pet Care Associates offers to its clients, and the high quality of medicine that is standard.”

I visited this vet with my dog who stopped eating and peed a lot. While the symptoms looked as the beginning of kidney infection, the doctor didn’t recognize it and treated him with antibiotics for bowel infection. After couple of days the dog got worse and they finally started the IV. Unfortunately it was too late and the dog didn’t make it. Maybe if the treatment was assigned the first day, the dog would have made it. Maybe if I was told that kidney failure is fatal I would have appreciated the honesty and would not throw away $600 for nothing.

I love the front desk staff at this vet; however, I have had mixed experiences here. Sometimes, things are semi straight forward and reasonable. Other times, I am left wondering how in the world my bill got so crazy. There is one vet in particular (Dodson) who is nice, but seems to blurr the lines between which procedures are actually needed and which are "recommended." She will tack on seemingly minor tasks in each visit which can easily add 45 dollars to your bill with no warning beforehand that there is a heavy upcharge for the service. I understand that I agreed to this service (without asking the cost) so it is ultimately my fault, but I have definitely seen other vets that are waaaayyyy more blunt about which actions really are necessary and which can wait or be avoided. Beware of extremely high prices here! If you do choose this vet, always ask for pricing before agreeing to anything no matter how minor it may seem. I do not plan to return after this last visit.

I will forever be grateful to Dr.Cox and his staff for saving my Stella's life almost 5 years ago. We had just moved from FL and my girl had an anaphylaxis shock... and they opened up and brought her back to life! Since then, we've visited a number of times from check ups to back issues to us accidentally clipping her ear while removing a knot. :-( We love this office and greatly appreciate Dr.Keith Cox for his patience and care with our baby. Ashley, we love you too, thanks for always being so kind and accommodating!!!

Really disappointed with their unwillingness to refill a prescription without 24 hours notice, when 2 dogs and 2 cats are patients for 3 years. They had no problem selling me prescription cat food, but the medication to keep my dog from scratching was simply too much to expect.2 star rating is because of poor customer service, not quality of care. Dr Cox has always provided excellent care for my animals.

Very lucky to have found such a caring, honest and compassionate group. Dr. Cox is wonderful and honest and the staff is amazing, especially Ashley, who treats you and your pet like family. I recently had to say goodbye to my precious dog, and they were AMAZING, helping me lovingly through the process. I will always be grateful to them, and will continue to bring my other 3 fur babies there, where I know I will always receive the best care possible!

I simply can not say enough kind things to all of the staff. We met peacefully to allow our dog to follow the bridge. They let us listen to classical Christian music, pray and let us get in the floor with her.The day came when we were given a Golden. Dr. Cox is an honest man who loves what he does. Everyone always thanks us for coming back, but honestly I don't want another vet caring for my boy.Sometimes in life our 4 legged friends require expenses. Pet Care is up front and honest about costs. They give you space to make a decision. Sometimes we wait too long and the first quote must be adjusted. Fact of life.

This review is long overdue because we took our dog here for a couple of years now. Dr. Cox and his staff are excellent. We've used other vets in the area but none compare to Dr. Cox's compassion and knowledge. He takes his time with you at each visit to explain things and answer questions. Ashley is also so thoughful and remembers your pet (and you) at each visit. Not one staff member has ever been anything but kind and friendly. Their pricing is also very reasonable and I have never felt that I overpaid for a visit- ever. Although our sweet Bella is no longer with us, this is the only vet practice I will ever use for future needs. Thank you Dr. Cox and staff for being everything a pet owner would ever hope for in a vet practice and more.

We love Pet Care Associates. Ashley at the front desk is always pleasant and helpful, and Dr. Cox is very thorough and informative about any issues going on with our pets. We lost our sweet pup Molly in May 2014, and Dr. Cox and the entire staff were very kind and compassionate throughout her illness up until she passed away. They made a clay impression of Molly's paw and a few days later we received a sweet sympathy card in the mail, signed by all the staff. That act of caring and compassion really meant a lot to us during that time. I highly recommend this practice to anyone looking for veterinary care in the Flowery Branch area!

All these people care about is MONEY. They charged me $31 for one pill, which is ridiculous. Refused to sell me a 6 month supply (which is a much cheaper per pill price) because my dog "will need a heartworm test at his check up next month". He has been on heartworm preventive his whole life, so that test is totally unnecessary. It's just more money in their pocket. They demand an office visit for any issue. My dog recently caught ear mites from my neighbor's dog and they would not sell any treatment for that without an office visit. I bought something at Petco that worked just fine - no more ear mites and no expensive office visit! I am on a fixed income and one vet visit a year is all I can afford! So I will be finding a different vet.

I highly recommend Pet Care Associates. They have been caring for my pets for eight years and I have always had complete confidence my pets are getting the best care possible. I am always greeted with a friendly face and my pets are welcomed as if they are part of the family. Both Dr. Cox and Dr. Dodson take the time to thoroughly explain things so that an informed decision can be made when needed and I never feel rushed. Their fees are very reasonable and they make every effort to keep costs down. I recently needed a very expensive medicine, and they made several phone calls until they found a compounding pharmacy that could provide the medicine at a significantly lower price. Everyone at Pet Care has always been kind, caring, loving and compassionate and treated my pets as if they were their own. They are the best!

What makes this especially bad is that I was clear that I needed my dog tended to on a budget today. If they would have been honest with me about the cost of this visit, I would NOT have come today.
Congrats Pet Care Associates on getting your extra $42. I hope it was worth losing my business consisting of 4 pets.

I visited this vet with my dog who stopped eating and peed a lot. While the symptoms looked as the beginning of kidney infection, the doctor didn’t recognize it and treated him with antibiotics for bowel infection. After couple of days the dog got worse and they finally started the IV. Unfortunately it was too late and the dog didn’t make it. Maybe if the treatment was assigned the first day, the dog would have made it. Maybe if I was told that kidney failure is fatal I would have appreciated the honesty and would not throw away $600 for nothing.

I love the front desk staff at this vet; however, I have had mixed experiences here. Sometimes, things are semi straight forward and reasonable. Other times, I am left wondering how in the world my bill got so crazy. There is one vet in particular (Dodson) who is nice, but seems to blurr the lines between which procedures are actually needed and which are "recommended." She will tack on seemingly minor tasks in each visit which can easily add 45 dollars to your bill with no warning beforehand that there is a heavy upcharge for the service. I understand that I agreed to this service (without asking the cost) so it is ultimately my fault, but I have definitely seen other vets that are waaaayyyy more blunt about which actions really are necessary and which can wait or be avoided. Beware of extremely high prices here! If you do choose this vet, always ask for pricing before agreeing to anything no matter how minor it may seem. I do not plan to return after this last visit.

I will forever be grateful to Dr.Cox and his staff for saving my Stella's life almost 5 years ago. We had just moved from FL and my girl had an anaphylaxis shock... and they opened up and brought her back to life! Since then, we've visited a number of times from check ups to back issues to us accidentally clipping her ear while removing a knot. :-( We love this office and greatly appreciate Dr.Keith Cox for his patience and care with our baby. Ashley, we love you too, thanks for always being so kind and accommodating!!!

Really disappointed with their unwillingness to refill a prescription without 24 hours notice, when 2 dogs and 2 cats are patients for 3 years. They had no problem selling me prescription cat food, but the medication to keep my dog from scratching was simply too much to expect.2 star rating is because of poor customer service, not quality of care. Dr Cox has always provided excellent care for my animals.

The staff at Pet Care - they are all tremendously caring. We will continue to go to them with all of our pets as long as we live within a reasonable driving distance. From puppy care to helping my sweet old lady dog cross the Rainbow Bridge - they are truly wonderful. All of them. Highly recommend and will always refer to them.

Dr. Cox and staff are professional, friendly and so kind and gentle with pets and pet parents. We had to put our 13 year old rat terrier to sleep on Friday and they walked us through the process with such kindness and compassion during such a sad, difficult time. They are simply the best and whenever we get another pet, we will certainly be back and we'll keep referring people to them.

Very lucky to have found such a caring, honest and compassionate group. Dr. Cox is wonderful and honest and the staff is amazing, especially Ashley, who treats you and your pet like family. I recently had to say goodbye to my precious dog, and they were AMAZING, helping me lovingly through the process. I will always be grateful to them, and will continue to bring my other 3 fur babies there, where I know I will always receive the best care possible!

I simply can not say enough kind things to all of the staff. We met peacefully to allow our dog to follow the bridge. They let us listen to classical Christian music, pray and let us get in the floor with her.The day came when we were given a Golden. Dr. Cox is an honest man who loves what he does. Everyone always thanks us for coming back, but honestly I don't want another vet caring for my boy.Sometimes in life our 4 legged friends require expenses. Pet Care is up front and honest about costs. They give you space to make a decision. Sometimes we wait too long and the first quote must be adjusted. Fact of life.

I feel very comfortable taking my pets to Pet Care Associates. All of the staff I have encountered has been genuine and kind. The vet tech and the doctor took time and asked lots of questions to try and get to the root of the issue that we had been having with our cat. I would recommend this Vet to any of my friends.

This review is long overdue because we took our dog here for a couple of years now. Dr. Cox and his staff are excellent. We've used other vets in the area but none compare to Dr. Cox's compassion and knowledge. He takes his time with you at each visit to explain things and answer questions. Ashley is also so thoughful and remembers your pet (and you) at each visit. Not one staff member has ever been anything but kind and friendly. Their pricing is also very reasonable and I have never felt that I overpaid for a visit- ever. Although our sweet Bella is no longer with us, this is the only vet practice I will ever use for future needs. Thank you Dr. Cox and staff for being everything a pet owner would ever hope for in a vet practice and more.

We love Pet Care Associates. Ashley at the front desk is always pleasant and helpful, and Dr. Cox is very thorough and informative about any issues going on with our pets. We lost our sweet pup Molly in May 2014, and Dr. Cox and the entire staff were very kind and compassionate throughout her illness up until she passed away. They made a clay impression of Molly's paw and a few days later we received a sweet sympathy card in the mail, signed by all the staff. That act of caring and compassion really meant a lot to us during that time. I highly recommend this practice to anyone looking for veterinary care in the Flowery Branch area!

Had my Lab in today for her yearly check up. The staff and Dr were very nice and efficient in getting us in and out in short order. Had a great value on heart worm and flea and tick medicine they told me about and with a 50.00 off coupon. Really like the staff and Dr and will continue using them in the future I recommend them for all your pet needs.

All these people care about is MONEY. They charged me $31 for one pill, which is ridiculous. Refused to sell me a 6 month supply (which is a much cheaper per pill price) because my dog "will need a heartworm test at his check up next month". He has been on heartworm preventive his whole life, so that test is totally unnecessary. It's just more money in their pocket. They demand an office visit for any issue. My dog recently caught ear mites from my neighbor's dog and they would not sell any treatment for that without an office visit. I bought something at Petco that worked just fine - no more ear mites and no expensive office visit! I am on a fixed income and one vet visit a year is all I can afford! So I will be finding a different vet.

I highly recommend Pet Care Associates. They have been caring for my pets for eight years and I have always had complete confidence my pets are getting the best care possible. I am always greeted with a friendly face and my pets are welcomed as if they are part of the family. Both Dr. Cox and Dr. Dodson take the time to thoroughly explain things so that an informed decision can be made when needed and I never feel rushed. Their fees are very reasonable and they make every effort to keep costs down. I recently needed a very expensive medicine, and they made several phone calls until they found a compounding pharmacy that could provide the medicine at a significantly lower price. Everyone at Pet Care has always been kind, caring, loving and compassionate and treated my pets as if they were their own. They are the best!

I brought my Great Dane here to have his anal glands expressed. They told me $20 on the phone. Then charged me $62. What makes this especially bad is that I was clear that I needed my dog tended to on a budget today. If they would have been honest with me about the cost of this visit, I would NOT have come today.
Congrats Pet Care Associates on getting your extra $42. I hope it was worth losing my business consisting of 4 pets.
DISAPPOINTING!!!!! I am so angry right now.
