I live in Atlanta. On Memorial Day weekend 5 years ago, Hartwell Animal saw and began the process of saving my Dog. Another vet in Atlanta had given a medication that cause Renal failure for an infected paw. This was a long process and required multiple visits for care, but end result, our Dog is still with us today at age13. I often have medical issues with my many fury babies that bless my life, they are not all patients of Hartwell Animal, but a picture snap with question is always answered very quickly via text. Thursday mid day. Waiting room very small. Asked for prices since not listed on website. Didn't feel friendly. Front desk woman had a "bothered" tone. Prices are higher if dog will be considered difficult. Was just trying to find a nice, calm place to take puppy to be vaccinated & nails clipped for 1st time. Don't think this will be it. Read Less

Dr. Keifer has been my vet since Dr. Mauldin retired. My 17 year old cocker spaniel received excellent, loving care and Dr. Keifer did everything possible to help ease her arthritis pain. We now have a new little cockapoo who loves to go to the Hartwell animal hospital. I believe she is getting the best possible care there and I would not consider taking her anywhere else. Read Less

I would recommend Dr. Keifer and his staff to anyone who needs a trustworthy vet. Dr Keifer saved several of my cats lives after they were attacked by a stray dog. He took great care to make my cats as comfortable as possible due to the severity of their wounds. We will keep taking our cats to them. Read Less

Keifer's degree is a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery (BVMS), not a DVM, and this doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere on the hospital Web site. It's also interesting that, until March 2015, vets with this degree in the UK were not even allowed to refer to themselves as "doctor." Read Less

Soot had a chronic cold. 3 visits later with trying different things which we had discussed and he is well and continues to be well :) All my other cats always get what they need and get well with minimal nursing and tons of babying :P Read Less

I have to admit they did a wonderful job taking care of my two cats but when it comes to my elderly dog, the Vet clearly does not like her and that was made clear today.. She went in for a simple skin tag removal and she was sedated before we left. This was around 10 this morning. We were told we could come back for her between 3 and 4 to get her. Once we arrived at 3:15, she was still so groggy she was barely able to walk to the truck, and literally had to be carried into the house. I asked the Vet himself if she was going to be given in pain medication to help with discomfort and was told no. Just antibiotics. So for the last 6 hours i have had to helplessly sit here and listen to her cry out and wimper from pain! I understand they at the first visit got off on the wrong foot, but for my poor girl to sit here and suffer after having a spot that required stitches to close up with no pain help.... um NO! Not a happy furmama right now.Read Less
