Doctor Beatie and his staff are phenomenal. He is very knowledgeable and takes his time with you. He cares about your animal, you, and your wallet. Our dog had to stay for observation and they kept him in with the receptionist behind the desk, they were all so sweet with him and eased his anxiety. For new patient they wanted 400 And for all the first shots, exam, and dewormmer it was another 400. 800 for all. that is just ridiculous, liberty vet wanted 166 for everything and our puppy adored the vet and she was so kind and gentle with shots he didn't ever notice he got them. Today I called and they got me in My 14 year old baby girl Chibett was not well Did a full exaim and from calling for an apt to ladies at desk to the dr and assistant I was treated so great and so wasn't my baby girl. He sat me down and let me know gave me wat I could do and I knew best was not to allow her to suffer. They all were so amazing and I held her until she past thank god it was quick and she went so peaceful. After they let me stay and just be with her once I went to leave they checked on me gave me some water and I just can't say enough good about every single one of them ! This has certainly been a hard and emotional day but having all of them I could not have asked for a better place to go and will bring my other baby boy for anything he needs as I have faith and trust in all of them. I am saddened to hear of so many people's poor experiences. I did want to share mine, however. I had my chiweenie seen by Dr. Beatie last December and he was very kind and did an exceptional job of keeping my little man calm. Just this past week, I had him seen again, this time by Dr. Mudd, and he too was fantastic. He immediately scheduled our other chiweenie for a pre-spay appointment. This morning they were dropped off and we received a ton of support by the staff. I am a lunatic dog mom so I cried dropping them off. They all calmed me down and took time with my babies to make sure that they were ok, and I knew they were in good hands. Dr. Mudd performed their spay and neuter and we picked them up in the afternoon. They were so calm for having undergone surgery and we left with strict discharge information. Overall, each time I brought my puppies to Beatie, they were treated well and I felt relief when I left. For all with a horrible experience, or those who had lost furry family members, I am truly sorry. For anyone considering Beatie, I highly recommend. I have been a client and now a former employee of this clinic. I am not saying that the care my pets have received is poor but I will say the way they treat their employees are horrible. Their policies and procedures are ridiculous! They treat their employees as if they are not even people. I was only there a short time with them as far as employment and realized that I myself wasn't the one making mistakes it was them! They try and get you to learn everything in a matter of just a week and it is a lot to learn! Training is basically non-existant. because how do they expect you to learn anything unless someone is there actually training you properly. Sure I made simple mistakes that could have been avoided but only if I was trained properly to start with! How do you expect any one to learn if you are not patient with them? How do you expect anyone to respond to constructive criticism if you lose your own temper and talk to them like they are incompetent? YOU CAN'T it is impossible!!! If they would treat their employees with respect and actually train them before throwing them out to the wolves looking for them to fail they wouldn't have such a high turn over rate!! I would advise anyone seeking employment through this clinic to reconsider!!! I am only one of many whom have been employed through this clinic that have either left to ill treatment or have been fired. I personally think that Dr. Beatie's wife shouldn't be treating employees the way she does and should learn to take her own advice!!! And she should also learn that people make mistakes and a lot can be avoided with proper training!!! They need to have a training computer that a new employee should have training on for at least two weeks before even being put out to take actual calls or be allowed out front to start with or even in the back to handle animals!!! they say they have certified trained employees yeah right maybe the doctors are certified!!! Maybe some of the employees are but not that I can tell they are average Joe's or Jane's coming in off the street looking for employment! The choice is ultimately yours have a job and be treated like crap for little pay or go some where that a place actually trains you and treats you with respect. I understand that Georgia is a right to work state but dang employers like this shouldn't be allowed in business if they are going to treat people like they have treated me and other former employees!!! I took a dog there for an appointment for a friend. The appointment was for 145 pm. The dog wasn't seen until about 4pm. The staff seemed nice enough but customer service could have been better. Dr Beattie was kind. Only spoke and saw him for a couple of min when he gave the dog vaccines. The environment was clean. However I was skeptical because one of the receptionists seemed very unsure about the paperwork she was to prepare for the dog's flight to Germany. Their competitive low prices may seem reason enough for you to want to take your pets here, but I would want to go to an animal clinic in which the staff was more knowledgeable and i knew my dog or cat was provided quality care. I brought my Irish setter for a health certificate at 1100 Waited for about 45 minutes until I was seen for a 5-10 minute procedure. I tried to pay at the desk, but my card was declined so I told them to give me a few minutes to check on my accounts. I was having issues with my bank and couldn't transfer funds but given a few more minutes, I would have it fixed and they can get their payment and I can get my damn certificate. The older lady at the desk was kicking me out because they had to keep their employees there and thus pay them more --understood, lady, give me a minute--so again I tried. She comes over to me again and tells me to leave, and calls the vet at the clinic; I then speak to him, and he assents and then I'm successful in transferring funds at the moment! I then pay them their goddamn money, and go on my way, I didn't receive my military "discount" either. I waited outside to see if their employees would leave as soon as I left, and they didn't. Which was total bullshit. They were kicking me out because they had to stay there longer (because of me supposedly) and I waited around and no one was going home. That was bullshit! He may be a kind man who helps you save a buck, but Beatie is not a professional. He failed to look at our dog's patient history and she died.----This is the one year anniversary of my beloved dog's tragic death, and I have hesitated to post a review here because I didn't want my emotions to override the facts. That being said, I used to recommend Beatie to everyone because of his "down to earth" way of giving care, without a lot of fluff or expensive medications. The prices were certainly right, which helped me overlook the poor customer service skills of the staff (though it was clear they all liked animals).We had been taking both of our dogs there for about a year, when my 4 year old German Shepherd suddenly began peeing in her sleep and gulping water during the day as if she could never get enough to drink. We immediately took her to Beatie where they tested her urine for a UTI, it came back negative. They gave us a round of antibiotics for a suspected bacterial ulcer.After a week she showed no signs of improvement, but we were supposed to continue the medication for 14 days. In the meantime she stopped wanting to eat and would suffer terrible diarrhea and would vomit. We took her back and Beatie spent about 4 minutes with us and gave us medication for heartburn. This didn't seem to make sense, but we gave it to her while continuing the ulcer meds too.No improvement, and a few days later it was apparent she was in some kind of pain. She walked very slowly and seemed stiff. We took her in again and Beatie quickly declared she had arthritis because she was a German Shepherd and they are prone to that. We asked if it could be related to the other symptoms and he didn't seem to know what we were talking about. He said to give her half a pill of Aleve a day because the dog medication was just Alleve but three times as much in cost.We felt uneasy but trusted him in the end, so added Alleve to her pill regimen.Two days later it was obvious things were getting worse. We called Beatie to report that our dog was vomiting bile and a red substance (blood) and hadn't kept any food down for two days. The receptionist said they were closing and we might be able to get an appointment after the weekend. We begged her to let us come in and she curtly said we could for an extra $80 on top of the visit fee,We decided to take her to the Savannah Emergency Pet Clinic. What a difference in care! The vet saw us immediately and listened to our story. She quickly put the pieces together: our dog had kidney failure, which should have been one of the first things Beatie tested for with urinary and thirst symptoms. She was amazed he hadn't. She couldn't believe he told us to give our dog Alleve as dogs can easily overdose and die, and it severely damages kidney function. Beatie had made our dog's kidneys worse than they already were.The emergency vet began an IV to treat her severe dehydration and asked to keep her overnight. My dog laid her head in my lap and looked up at me... and I knew she was telling me goodbye. She wasn't going to make it. I began to cry and the vet confirmed that, yes, our dog has progressed to a bad point and things did not look good.We had to leave her there as it was already midnight and we had our baby with us. We got a call at 3 am that our dog had died.I know hindsight is 20/20 but we trusted Beatie to be the expert, to look at our dog's visit history over the course of a few weeks and see a medical explanation, not just give us whatever explanation seemed the easiest solution. I can't help but feel guilty not finding my dog better care, she might have been saved.I tell everyone to stay away from him. Your pet is worth more than a cheap vet. Read Less

I used this vet after moving to town in 1997 after they came highly recommended. Having never had any other experience with other vet since this was my first dog,  I took his recommendation to keep a muzzle on my dog during his visits as normal. Only after going elsewhere did I find out this created more stressful visits for my dog. I took my dog here because he was vomiting & had diarrhea and got a quick diagnosis of parvo and that we would likely lose him. With almost no checks to really tell. Glad to say, he got over whatever he ate and was fine - with treatment from this place. As for the facilities,  the last time I was there,  it was a building -  which according to my friends who grew up here,  used to be for the old entertainment center -  like Fun Zone. I've been to many vets in many states, and Dr. Beatie is my favorite. He's not an alarmist, tells it to you straight, and doesn't feed you the most dreaded of all vet lines, "We aren't sure what's wrong, we'll have to keep your pet overnight and run several tests and go to town on your wallet." No fuss, no muss, no drama. I arrived as a walk-in with my cat who had a terrible gash on his leg from a fight, the wound was weeping and the flesh was turning black, causing me to fear the worst - gangrene/amputation. I strongly feel any other vet I've dealt with in the past would've scared me half to death playing into my fears and taken full advantage of my concern, doing a lot of unnecessary work, causing unwarranted anxiety to my cat, and killing my bank account. Beatie simply purged and cleaned the wound, assured me the black parts would eventually fall off like a scab, and sent me home with antibiotics, kitty came home with me that same day, all under $100.00. The staff was amicable, the wait was nothing, even though I was a walk-in and was told I'd have to wait for him to finish with another patient, I was in and out quickly. Most inexpensive, simple vet visit I ever had. Yay, Beatie! For the record, after reading the other review (written by someone who didn't even go into the place), yes, the building isn't pretty. Sooo, if what you're looking for is a glamorous office with a fancy façade, then you're out of luck. But if you can get past the superficial layer and actually go inside for, you know, help with your pet, then you'll be fine. The interior is clean and well-kept, it looks just like any other vet office I've been to in any other part of the country. In other words, it's what's inside that counts. Thanks, y'all!!! I have been using Dr. Beatie for 23 years. He has seen two of my dogs from puppyhood through to euthanasia. He has also provided life-span care for several cats. He is the most caring vet I have ever dealt with (yes, I've dealt with many in my 57 years). He keeps up on all the latest advances in veterinary medicine, but he will not advise care that will not benefit the particular animal in question and he will be very upfront about cost vs. benefit whether the cost is financial or some potential side effect. He will take as much time as he needs with each patient and he always insists I call back and give status reports to the staff (on occasion he has insisted that I tell them I MUST talk only to him) whenever I have a sick animal so that he can judge how his treatment is working. As to the condition of the building he works from - yes, it is an old trailer -- his site sits on an abandoned miniature golf course and I believe the trailer was the office at one time. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but it isn't dirty or ratty, it is just a trailer. Inside the facility is kept spotless.  He spends  his money on things like x-ray machines rather than fancy offices.The staff have always been friendly to me. Of course thety know me and they know I've been with Dr. Beatie a long time. That said, I have never seen them be rude to anyone. They ARE constantly busy. The front desk can seem quite frantic at times, but the girls (there have been a couple of young guys over the years, but the ones that stay all seem to be female) always do their best to keep up and they all love animals. I'm a bit hesitant to post a negative review for a business I have not employed, but I neglected to look into this particular aspect and was appalled at what I found.First, the receptionist spoke very quickly and did not annunciate, making both the initial call and her subsequent voice message difficult to understand. It was not a particularly positive first impression, but I was willing to overlook that.I made an appointment to have my 5wk/old kitten checked for parasites and was scheduled for two days later. They called the following day to confirm the appointment, asking me to call back. I did not since I'd just made the appointment and thought the practice curious. I packed up kitten, drove the 20mi to the clinic, did a U-turn in their driveway and left. The building is a rusted trailer with no sign except on the main road. The size and condition of the building's exterior were shocking and concerning enough to seriously question whether the clinic is financially stable enough to provide quality care. Read Less

They've taken very good care of my dogs. They're non-judgmental and the vet has no problem explaining everything in detail. The vet seems like the kind of man who really loves what he does as if helping animals was his dream job as a kid. My dogs have had surgery there and I have continued to visit them for over a year now. I have tried several other places in Hinesville or on the edge of Hinesville, Beatie is by far the best. Great first time vet experience. I chose this clinic simply because it was closest to my home. They took me (my kitten) the same day I called, on a Friday, even though they were already booked! What a relief, because I didn't want him to suffer through the weekend with earmites. Great staff, great vet, reasonably priced. I was a little worried to go here after reading some of the review's, but it's the ONLY vet near our home so we decided to try it out anyways. Dr. Beatie is a good vet, he was great with our pet for sure but he is a bit abrasive with humans. I did not have any issues at all with his staff. There were 3 staff members there while we were there and we dealt with all 3 and they were all sweet, helpful and respectful. They treated the other 3 customers that were there good as well. I have a 9 month old who got his ear hurt at another vets and didnt tell us about it... made an appointment with Beatie and we only waited 5 min past our appointment time. I used Dr. Beatie for almost 4 years. He is one of the best vets in the area and has treated my dog, Schizzy from the time he was just a puppy.
