Didn't even want to give one star but i can't post the review without at-least one.. Not a fan of this location at all. They never seem to have availability for any appointments. Then, when you tell the receptionists its kind of an emergency for an appointment they are so nonchalant and don't seem to care at all by rude remarks and unprofessional attitudes. Will continue to go to the Johnson ferry location, they are wonderful and very nice. I hate to leave this type of review and be 'that' person but it's needed. I don't recommend this location at all! THE ABSOLUTE WORST!! NOT REAL VETS! BEWARE!!!! Long post, but I promise it is worth the read!!My Husband and I took our dog to Banfield Kennesaw in early 2017 for what seemed to be a simple ear infection. They prescribed almost $250+ in antibiotics and steroids for a few weeks. We gave our dog the medicines for the recommended time and shortly after stopping the medicine, the ear problems returned. We went back to Banfield and started the process over. They required us to pay $250+ AGAIN for medicine, but again shortly after stopping the meds the problems returned. This continued 6 times, yes 6 times!!! Each time we saw a different Veterinarian and we even took him twice to the Banfield in Smyrna for a 2nd opinion. They suggested, due to his breed (Shiba Inu), that he probably has allergies that were attributing to the ear infections. We asked what allergies, but they had no answers and never had any answers for any of our questions.  Finally after spending over $1,500 with the Banfield Veterinarians, we went to a different veterinarian who immediately referred us to a K9 Dermatologist. We took our sweet pup to the K9 dermatologist and found out that the issue was not an ear infection, but was a severe buildup of wax in his ear. Due to the lack of addressing the real issue by Banfield for over a year, our dog now required surgery to clean out his ear. His ear canal was totally block and would need to be cleansed with saline.  In addition, since the issues were left untreated our dog will probably have to have a Total Ear Canal Ablation later in his life. The inflammation was so bad that they could not even get the tube in his ear. This procedure was $1,200, but totally fixed his issues and he is now a happy, healthy dog again! Here is my issue - There is absolutely no way that Banfield Veterinarians could have missed the real problem with our dog and let the issue go on for over a year. Clearly, if we came in for the same issue 8 times in a year span it would be obvious that the steroids and antibiotics were not the answer. Why would they continue to make us pay for the medicine that was not treating our dog? The answer is because they do not care about the pets at all. It is ALL about collecting money. We will be cancelling our Wellness Plans for both our dogs and finding another vet! For anyone looking to get out of their yearly plans with Banfield here is a suggestion... PETCO has a LICENSED veterinarian that comes a few times a month. You can take your pet in to get their vaccinations for around $100.00. This sure beats the $550+ that you are paying for your Wellness Plan ($46month x 12 months). Also, the flea and tick meds that Banfield provides, you can find on Chewy or Amazon for much cheaper! Walgreens also does vaccinations for much cheaper than you are spending on your wellness plan. We also have a German Shepherd. Every time we take him to get his yearly vaccinations, they refuse to give him the syringe of wormer OR do the fecal sample. They tell me that, "He would not let us do it" and tell me to bring in a sample of his poop. Seriously, 1. Who has time for this? And 2. You are a "VET". It is your job to give him the wormer and take the fecal sample. Long Rant over, but trust me... go to a real veterinarian. Do not take your beloved pet to Banfield!! Read Less

They steal your money and charged me when the dog wasn't even seen. They made us pay extra for things that were already paid for such as trishield and triheart. Their excuse was we waited too long and they couldn't give us something that we already paid for. The receptionists are pleasant, but Banfield is not something I'd recommend because they just care about the money and not about the pet. Also, when my dog had a UTI, we had to come back twice before it was fixed and they charged us with bs fees to make it more expensive than what it should've been. Stay away from Banfield, they are 3x more expensive than your local vet and do a worse job at keeping your pet healthy and they are a nightmare to get rid of !! Read Less

My dog Bella loves the vets here. She has a wellness plan and it saves a ton of money. This place holds good and terrible memories for me since my beautiful diabetic bloodhound came here for years and then passed away here at just shy of 11 years old. He was one of the best dogs in the world and Banfield took great care of us. If you have pets get them a wellness plan and bring them to the vets here! Made an appointment at this location because all the other bandfield's would not have a spot for atleast a week or two.  The receptionist when I called the other day was it was very nice and fit me in, because my dog mocha has a growth on her foot and it start too swell and really irritate her, the day before the appointment, I took Mocha out for a walk and she end up stepping on glass or something, cutting her toes and pad not super deep but enough for concern, so I called bandfield and let them know, i stopped the bleeding and wrapped, receptionist made a note on the appointment and told me if it gets worse go to the emergency hospital, I said of course.  So I'm on my way and I can till that I'm going to be about 10 to 15 mins late (traffic).  So I call and The receptionist said if your more than 5 minutes late then you need to reschedule the appointment.  I told her let see if I can make it in time, I didn't I was 8 mins late, The receptionist call the doctor and the doctor says no I'm assuming because she said I need to reschedule.   This place is unethical and doesn't deserve to be in business, because you won't see my dog because I'm eight minutes late you know she's in pain she's suffering and you don't want help that's fine, I think this is why am I paying you guys every month for a service that I'm not getting.  I called corporate and they give me the typical run around or you need to talk to this person oh sorry I'm not the field team leader in your area and will get back to you at a later time.  That's supposed to follow called ethics when they graduate but I guess he could he could care less! I saw a lot of terrible reviews for banfield, and I just wanted to say that I've been 3x now with both my dog and cat and had great experiences.  I was a different doctor every time, and they have all spent time with my pet and I to evaluate what the problem was...I felt like they listened to everything I said and talked to me very competently, and made good suggestions.  They never ran tests I felt were superfluous, and even suggested I skip x-rays for my cat to save my $300 for a sonogram at the specialist they referred me to, because it would produce more comprehensive results. I have had my dogs at Banfield for over two years and honestly their care has decreased significantly.  One of my dogs was having a problem with his back leg so we paid the $100 something dollars for the X-ray. We also ended up paying an extra $89 or so for an "expert" opinion. They ended up telling me that my 1 1/2 year old dog had arthritis.... yes arthritis! So I went to another vet and took the X-rays and was told that he has a cruciate tear and that the X-rays were not taken very well. So basically we threw close to $200 down the drain for nothing and had to get treatment elsewhere, not to mention I'm on the pet plan. Having your dogs on the puppy plan is nice just so that you can get all of their shots, but do not put your adult dogs on this plan. It is a huge waste of time and money. Read Less

My dog is dying from being poisoned by an overdose of Carprofen by Dr Allevne. If my dog lives she will never make a full recovery. To my knowledge there are no ramifications holding Dr Allevne responsible for poisoning my dog. While treatment for trying to flush my dogs system for 4 consecutive days to get out the poison was no additional charge, I still have paid thousands for them to ultimately poison my dog to death. DO NOT GET THE WELLNESS PROGRAM, it is the scam that got me in the door for the dentist appointment they used as the excuse to prescribe my dog poison. Every part of the program is a scam, for instance, it covers X rays, but not the 250$ it cost for the qualified personnel to READ AND EXPLAIN THEM. Same goes for every single item the program covers. DO NOT TRUST WHAT THEY PRESCRIBE UR PET WITH OUT RESEARCHING THE MEDICATION FOR URSELF FIRST. THEY ARE NOT QUALIFIED NOR KNOWLEDGEABLE. To test to see if the person ur corresponding with about ur pet has any knowledge on ur pet at all as they are giving u medical advice about ur pet, simply ask them a couple basic questions any one paying attention would know about ur pets medical needs. Maybe an allergy ur pet my have or a med they may be on that should be taken into consideration when giving any medical advice about ur pet. Always ask a question or 2 u already know the answer to in order to verify the person giving u medical advice is qualified to do so. You will be horrified at the answers and the incompetence. So the only reason I'm giving this location 2 stars is for the assistants/nurses. All of the nurses I have met here are wonderful and sweet and amazing to my dog. But the main doctor is just sad. I don't know how else to describe it. I don't even know the doctor's name because of the three times we have been here, each time she has never said her name. Why am I complaining about this doctor? Well... to start off, she makes the room very awkward. She does not talk to you, she looked at my dog for MAYBE 30 seconds each time before giving her her shots (my dog is 4 months old) and each time she just says "she looks fine." She might say about 10 words to you in all, and if you have a question, she acts as if you're inconveniencing her and is very dry and unwelcoming. If you try to have a conversation with her, she just smiles and basically ignores you. On our last appointment, Sept. 4th, I asked her to look at my dog's vaginal area because it looked very swollen. She looked at it for about 5 seconds and said "it's probably just irritated." I was still concerned, but I kind of just brushed it off because I felt uncomfortable/awkward, like the other two appointments, and wanted to leave. Guess who had a UTI and has had it for about a month... MY PUPPY. On Sept. 10th or 11th, at 11:00 PM, my puppy started trying to go pee frequently and could not go. I called an emergency vet to see if this was something I needed to bring her in for. Thank god I brought her in because she had an awful UTI. The vet there said in a very concerned voice, "she has a VERY bad UTI that could have been caught probably 2-3 weeks ago, maybe more." She asked us the last time we went to our vet, and she was shocked that our vet had not noticed this a week ago WHEN WE WENT TO THEM AND I ASKED ABOUT HER BEING SWOLLEN. $300 later and my puppy is finally on her last day of pills. I will NEVER come back to this location. I have had AMAZING experience at the Marietta location for many, many years with all of my other/passed away dogs. The only reason I switched to this one was because I moved to Kennesaw for school. I will be driving back to Marietta for my dog's appointments from now on and will call corporate to file an official complaint. Read Less

About 2 months ago I discovered that my dog had a nasty ear infection. Of course like any good child, he got sick on a Sunday when my regular vet was closed. As a last resort I took him to the Banfield Pet Hospital located off of Cobb Parkway. The only decent part of the experience was the young lady working the front desk. The vet barely came into the exam room, took maybe 3 of looking at Beau before she diagnosed him as malnourished/underweight, having dental disease, and hip dysplasia. She simply told me, you will need to apply his cleanser and medication to his ears as indicated on the bottle. Never once did she offer to demonstrate proper application, etc. That ran me around $140 with a "required" follow up appointment (God only knows how expensive that would have been) to tell me your dogs ears are fine but you now have X, Y, and Z wrong. Needless to say, I did NOT follow up with them. Today I took Beau to see Dr. Kennedy at Webb Bridge Animal Hospital for his semiannual exam. He has a clean bill of health: good (lean) weight, excellent teeth, and ZERO mention or concern for hip dysplasia. To Banfield I say SHAME ON YOU! Your vet was totally unprofessional and if I dare say, attempting to prey upon a "panicked" dad. I came in because I had a sick child with a severe ear infection, and your vet has the nerve to state my pet's health was worse than it really was, quite likely hoping I would act and either buy services or attempt to subscribe to more than was required. Needless to say I will NEVER use your facility or any other location EVER again. I will also continually refer my friends, family, and class mates to ANYONE else other than your company. Read Less

This is a long review, but it is not a rant, it is unfortunately a description of what occurred when I visited Banfield.  I scheduled an appointment at Banfield after hearing the wonderful reviews about their pricing and convenience/availability from my amigos.  I arrived on time for my 5:15 appointment which was only for a check-up by Banfield before they could sign us up for a plan.  By 5:30 they had finally checked me and my 7 month old lab puppy in and placed us in a waiting room where I was asked to sign the consent forms.  The consent forms given to me detailed $293 in charges for medication and shots for which my dog was not due.  I asked the tech to explain the charges and she told me that I would only pay for the services I needed and that the rest would be free of charge once I signed up for their plan.  I told her they should be free of charge since my dog doesn't need them and I'm not authorizing them to inject him with medication and shots he doesn't need.  She then told me that the flea/tick/heartworm care was not included in the plan and that I would have to play for those separately.  This put my total prospective bill around $140 for the visit.  I was told when I called and scheduled that it would be $38.95 plus first month's plan payment.  I asked  her what exactly is included in the "wellness plan" and she said the that the vet would go over that with me.  I told here that I would wait and discuss the plans with the vet before I signed anything.  By this time it was 5:45 and I had been there for half an hour so I asked when the vet would actually be available?  She did not appreciate this and became rude with me (before she had only been dismissive and uninterested) saying that she's not able to predict how long the patients that arrived before me are going to take.  I found that strange because I left work early to go to Banfield without knowing how slow traffic would be but I still managed to arrive on time for my appointment.  At 6:00 (45 minutes after my scheduled appointment time) the vet finally arrived, walked right past my dog without so much as acknowledging his presence set down a handfull of med vials and asked if I was here to have my dog neutered.  I explained that I was not and that I just needed to get the information for the plans before I signed up.  She said, in what sounded like a bad telemarketer sales pitch, "The plan covers all of your dogs needs for the full year and you'll save a minimum of $500.  You interested?"  My response was "Nope" and we left having wasted nearly 2 hours of my day getting there and waiting there and my dog never seeing an actual vet.  This was yesterday afternoon.I received a follow up call from Banfield this morning, I presumed to either discuss yesterday's events and why I had left or to see if I had reviewed their plans.  Rather, they were calling to check up on my dog who apparently had been to Banfield yesterday and had received updated puppy shots and his first dose of their heartworm/flea/tick treatments.  I told the rep that we were treated poorly so we left and that we never actually had any treatment or check up.  His response, "Did you want to make a follow up appointment then?"Essentially, they are 1) incredibly disorganized, 2) either uninterested or just plain rude depending on who you talk to and 3) blatantly more interested in signing people up for their payment plans than they are concerned about your caring for your pet.  If this sounds like the place you'd like to care for your pet/s, then Banfield Kennesaw is the place for you. I will NEVER take my dog here again. I switched to Banfield because I liked them better than my previous vet but now I will be switching again. The last time I went here in May was horrible! All the workers did the entire time was try to up-sale. Whether it was the little helpers or the actual veterinarian, everyone was trying to up-sale.  I know all about scare tactics and hard selling so they weren't going to get me. The veterinarian was trying to up-sale so much that she didn't even bother to update me on my dog's health or give tips to keep him healthy like the veterinarian did the last time I came. In the end, they even made an appointment for some expensive teeth cleaning surgery that I specifically said I wasn't interested in. When I went to check out the desk worker said, "Okay we'll see you on June 23rd for his surgery." I said, "What surgery? You must have the wrong dog." Then she told me what she was referring to and I told her that I specifically said I wasn't interested. Then to make matters even worse, they didn't even update my dog's records because they were so busy with their crappy upselling tactics. So when I went to get the dog groomed I had to take the forms to show proof his shots were up to date. I'm glad my dog pooped on their floor while I were there. I should have let it stay on the floor since they are so full of ****! I love PetSmart but this vet disgusts me. So much for the "convenience." Read Less

I was warned by numerous people not to bring my pet here.  I did anyway.  My extremely ill cat died after waiting all day to receive fluids.  Would my cat have lived if it had received treatment earlier?  To be fair that's something I don't know.  But if they were going to make a cat wait all day for treatment after admitting it, then they should have made this known so I could have brought it to the emergency clinic.

Read Less

I got a new puppy in January and took him here. They have an annual program that spreads the shots and exams cost over a 12 month period and every check up or vet visit is covered. They are very friendly and always call to remind you of your visit along with being very understanding if you have to cancel last minute. I'm so glad I went to them! Read Less
