THE ABSOLUTE WORST!! NOT REAL VETS! BEWARE!!!! Long post, but I promise it is worth the read!!My Husband and I took our dog to Banfield Kennesaw in early 2017 for what seemed to be a simple ear infection. They prescribed almost $250+ in antibiotics and steroids for a few weeks. We gave our dog the medicines for the recommended time and shortly after stopping the medicine, the ear problems returned. We went back to Banfield and started the process over. They required us to pay $250+ AGAIN for medicine, but again shortly after stopping the meds the problems returned. This continued 6 times, yes 6 times!!! Each time we saw a different Veterinarian and we even took him twice to the Banfield in Smyrna for a 2nd opinion. They suggested, due to his breed (Shiba Inu), that he probably has allergies that were attributing to the ear infections. We asked what allergies, but they had no answers and never had any answers for any of our questions. Finally after spending over $1,500 with the Banfield Veterinarians, we went to a different veterinarian who immediately referred us to a K9 Dermatologist. We took our sweet pup to the K9 dermatologist and found out that the issue was not an ear infection, but was a severe buildup of wax in his ear. Due to the lack of addressing the real issue by Banfield for over a year, our dog now required surgery to clean out his ear. His ear canal was totally block and would need to be cleansed with saline. In addition, since the issues were left untreated our dog will probably have to have a Total Ear Canal Ablation later in his life. The inflammation was so bad that they could not even get the tube in his ear. This procedure was $1,200, but totally fixed his issues and he is now a happy, healthy dog again! Here is my issue - There is absolutely no way that Banfield Veterinarians could have missed the real problem with our dog and let the issue go on for over a year. Clearly, if we came in for the same issue 8 times in a year span it would be obvious that the steroids and antibiotics were not the answer. Why would they continue to make us pay for the medicine that was not treating our dog? The answer is because they do not care about the pets at all. It is ALL about collecting money. We will be cancelling our Wellness Plans for both our dogs and finding another vet! For anyone looking to get out of their yearly plans with Banfield here is a suggestion... PETCO has a LICENSED veterinarian that comes a few times a month. You can take your pet in to get their vaccinations for around $100.00. This sure beats the $550+ that you are paying for your Wellness Plan ($46month x 12 months). Also, the flea and tick meds that Banfield provides, you can find on Chewy or Amazon for much cheaper! Walgreens also does vaccinations for much cheaper than you are spending on your wellness plan. We also have a German Shepherd. Every time we take him to get his yearly vaccinations, they refuse to give him the syringe of wormer OR do the fecal sample. They tell me that, "He would not let us do it" and tell me to bring in a sample of his poop. Seriously, 1. Who has time for this? And 2. You are a "VET". It is your job to give him the wormer and take the fecal sample. Long Rant over, but trust me... go to a real veterinarian. Do not take your beloved pet to Banfield!! Read Less
