I can see why the reviews are so bad. My cat gave birth Saturday night and their Vet tech Holly helped me a lot and told me what to do and what to look for. She was amazing, I'm grateful for Holly and the time she took to help me and ensure my cat were ok because this was all new to me. However, I called today because something didn't seem right with my cat & the staff was very rude and not willing to help. Saying they legally could not give me advice over the phone. I would give Holly five stars if I could but not the same for her coworkers. I will NOT be taking my pets to Hudspeth. The way I was treated by two of their staff members in one day let's me know to stay away. Read Less

One star only to leave a comment. I took my dogs to Dr. Giles many time over the last few years. Last Oct one of my old girls started having serious health problems, not eating and just not herself. I took her to the office on Wed and they ran blood work and the Dr said several of her levels were high and made me believe she had pancreatitis and she needed to be on fluid. I took her back on Thurs morning before work and left her there that day and they said she should come back the next day for more fluid so I did it again on Fri, by that point her breathing was labored but I was told it was from having so much extra fluid. By Sat she was head pressing and still not eating, I was NEVER told she was in full kidney failure and her body was shutting down. Had I known that I would have made very different decisions about her end of life care rather than leave her where she was in a cage and stressed during her last days. While that was happening my other elderly dog started to rapidly decline, I ended up putting both my dogs to sleep that weekend with the other vet. He told me that he was aware of her situation and he was told she probably wouldn't live through the weekend so he wasn't surprised I was there. Livid does not begin to describe how angry I was at that moment. On top of already spending over $300 for treatment that week I then spent another $300 for them to put both my dogs to sleep. We were there almost 2 hours because an emergency came in which I know couldn't be avoided but it was agonizing to be there holding my dogs just waiting for them to have the time to give them the injection. I had already asked the receptionist a few weeks earlier how much it would be to put a dog to sleep and was told $101 so I was then shocked to find out it was actually $175 each. It's been months but it still makes me so angry, I don't want anyone else to leave there feeling like I did. Oh and that $175 was just to put them to sleep, I took their bodies with me to bury on family land so that doesn't even include cremation or them disposing of the body. Absolutely ridiculous.
I expected more from Dr. Giles and can not understand why he didn't feel the need to fully explain to me how sick my dog was even after I questioned him about several things and what I could do to improve her health. The weekend vet did say that at their age and being a bonded pair their entire life it wasn't unusual for them to hold on for each other then go down together but it doesn't make it any easier when you are standing in the room with both the dogs you've had your entire adult life. So not only did I loose my dogs I also feel like I was robbed by paying for days of treatment they knew would not help her and only prolonged her suffering. My friend who recommended this office also had a bad experience recently so it seem the quality of care has decreased with all the new changes. Read Less

But for 1,100 dollars I would except for some great results this whole experience with them was not a great one the surgery that was performed was great the after not so much my cats leg got infected and they refused to accept responsibility and treat the mistake that was made. I'm very disappointed because I paid them what they asked for without any question and they just took my money and said ole well we still need you to pay for another surgery to get the infection out. This is very unacceptable, I had to go to Gordon just to get my cat back on his feet if I could sue this place I would just to get a portion of my money back. We're owners of five (adopted) dogs, and Hudspeth is our vet office for everything from preventative care to major emergencies. I met them when one of our dogs was hit by a car, and we arrived as an emergency, holding her and both covered in blood. She was already in shock. And they immediately took charge of the situation. Dr. Hudspeth and Dr. Giles literally put her front legs back together with two weeks of in-patient and out-patient care. She is now four years past the accident and completely healed. They saved her life, and total treatment cost, including major surgery was $700. It would have cost thousands anywhere else. They are an old fashioned practice - tried and true with experience that came before many modern vet medicines. They have those "farm vet" roots that I think is so important to animal care - it's not about doing a treatment just to see what happens, it's a solution and the animal being better. Our oldest dog is now seeing them for a tumor. She is 16+ and we all agree we just want her to be comfortable. Dr. Giles even saw her on a Sunday and didn't charge us an off-hours visit. This is where experience counts. Don't expect bedside manners, expect serious doctors with a wealth of experience in animal medicine who care about the animal. It's not about you. I just can't say enough about them - this is the kind of practice that won't be around forever but it's worth every penny while it is. Read Less

Worst service EVER. The only persons in that office that have a good attitude are the ladies that work in the front office. I took my elderly mothers 18 yr old cat to be treated. As I am calling to ask if my mother would like for me to leave her or bring her back on Monday, the male assistant rudely tells the lady behind the desk that I can call her from in there and to come on. Then Dr. Hudspeth tells me that if he is gonna treat her that it needs to be worth his time. Next telling me bye as if dismissing me. He treated the cat 4 months ago, charging my mother $200. I left the office with the cat and went to another local vet where they were very nice. They saw the cat within 20 minutes and charged me $32 for the exam, an injection, and antibiotics. Read Less
