I took the chance to read some of the reviews that were posted on Yelp regarding Fair Oaks Veterinary.  It was unfortunate to read all of the negative posts.  I have used Fair Oaks for over 20 years and I have not had a bad experience from either Dr. Holland or her staff.  As a matter of fact, I have never felt as if I had been over charged or sold extra services that were not needed, with any of the three Boxers, that I have taken to Fair Oaks Veterinary for care or boarding.  Recently my 8 year old boxer had to be euthanized because he had developed bone cancer in his left leg.  Dr. Holland diagnosed the problem and gave me options including getting a second opinion from Cobb Emergency Veterinary Clinic.  I took my dog to Cobb Emergency Veterinary Clinic and they collaborated her diagnosis.  In closing, I would take into consideration the length of time that Dr. Holland has been in business and it would lead me to think that she has an established client base of more than the persons who have lodged complaints.  Maybe more of her satisfied clients like myself need to step up and submit a review.  - David F. Please do not trust the google/facebook reviews.!!!If I could give this place a 0 I would. The tech and receptionist were so nice and cheery and looked at my ferret like she was the best thing on gods green earth. My ferret is very skinny and not eating. Dr Holland walks in and picked up my ferret then looks at my boyfriend and says "this is a dying ferret." She also would not address me at all. Only my boyfriend. She said our ferret had a blockage, but didn't offer x-rays or anything. She let my boyfriend feel the mass, but not me. When we got home we could not find anything. She then tried to charge us 600 dollars to put our girl in an incubator and feed her then do surgery IF she makes it. We said no, because if she is going to die and has that slim of a chance of living then our ferret deserves to be with her family. When my boyfriend told her no she told us that if we "didn't want her anymore we can drop her off at 7 am." She is incredibly arrogant and rude. Dr Holland is the worst vet I have ever come across and has no manners on how to help a family of a sick loved one. If you care about your animal at all then do not go there. I've had better results from WEB MD. Read Less

Fair Oaks Vet Hospital and staff are great! I recently moved to the Marietta, GA area and called a few hospitals and what was the deal maker to me was how nicely I was spoken to on the phone. The receptionists who scheduled my appointment were very attentive and able to answer all my questions and get me price estimates for boarding, grooming and vaccines for my Poodle, Tina. I love that the doctor is so attentive! When I came in for boarding, Dr Holland noticed the beginning of an ear infection, and were able to get me in the right direction for taking care of Tina's ears. When I picked up Tina from boarding, she smelled great, and everyone said she had a nice time at camp! They really care about your pets like family, and I love that about Fair Oaks! The groomer Sam is great! I brought a picture of how Tina gets groomed from my old groomer, and she made it perfect! She even matched her bow color to her collar, which was so cute! Read Less

Never in my life have I had such a rude experience!!! I was there once looking for a new vet and had a good experience. So I called today asking about boarding. I don't know what was wrong with this woman. She tried to tell me my dog needed all these shots in order to be boarded. She was just there in July and got her annual shots! Everything! Distemper, parvo, bordetella...the dog is over 6 years old and has never gotten more than 1 set of shots per year. So I said let me call my previous vet to see what she got. This vile woman just violently throws the phone down and hangs up! Like, what in the world! Guess I'm searching for a new vet again. She because the doctor was nice. She needs to fire that creature. I'm always nervous to take my pets to the vet. Usually because I'm just afraid that something is seriously wrong and I won't be able to handle outrageous vet bills and/or the news of having to lose one of my girls. I have two dogs, both of which are the most low maintenance babies on the planet. When we moved to Smyrna, we had to take our bulldog to get spayed. Not only was she in excellent hands, but when we've had other issues with her, not only do Dr. Holland and her staff remember her (but who can forget Biscuit), but they give the best recommendations for her care possible. I have spent an enormous amount of money on her care prior to moving to Smyrna, and these people not only take the best care of her I could hope for, but at incredibly reasonable prices for a vet clinic. I took my other dog Lyla to them yesterday for a severe limp in her back leg. They gave her amazingly care, her vaccinations, and recommendations without costing me an arm and a leg, AND asked about Biscuit and her previous issues. The vets I've seen in the past would charge at least $400 for this visit, and that was nowhere near what I paid yesterday, in addition to the super specific and loving care that Lyla received. It's been 24 hours and she's already like a new dog. She hates strangers, and warmed up to all of them immediately (even the girl that was doing a working interview: which by the way, I hope they hire her. Lyla was putty in her hands). I have had absolutely nothing bad to say about my pet's care, nor my personal interactions with this vet. They've eliminated my anxiety and my fear of cost for caring for my babies, and I'd recommend them to anyone. Read Less

If I could give MINUS 100 stars, I would.  They threw away my beloved pet.  I have been avoiding writing this review but I am coming up on 6 months of him being gone due to their negligence, and I feel it's time to speak out.  To her credit, Dr. Holland is a nice lady, she refunded the money I spent on the day that her inept, idiotic and negligent tech Tomas lost my cat, and she did make some effort to help find him.  Cameron (also a tech) is awesome, he did A LOT to try to help find/recover my cat.  But if you go there?  DO NOT LET THEM MOVE YOUR PET FROM THE BUILDING TO THE CAR OR VICE VERSA!  TRANSPORT THEM YOURSELF!!!  Tomas the Idiot was either not trained properly or didn't care enough and so my cat escaped from his grasp and was permanently lost. Two days after that happened and I was back in the neighborhood to look for him (as I did every day for many weeks), they were chasing a dog that had gotten away from them and was running thru the neighborhood.  I wish no ill will on Dr. Holland's business, but until she fires that stupid tech (Tomas) and hires quality people, word will get out and such will be the consequences. Any dog owners: Please don't let your vet give your dog the leptospirosis vaccine (any type) unless you do research first on its safety. Leptospirosis (entirely treatable if caught early although it is hard to diagnose) is incredibly rare in Georgia and most other areas of the US and the incidence of adverse reactions, up to and including death, are among the highest of all vaccines. If your dog only occasionally is outside it is even more rare. It is contracted from the urine of infected wild animals like raccoons or squirrels but survives for only a very short time after the liquid has dried. Worse, the vaccine as administered only protects your beloved pet for roughly 2 weeks after 2 applications. To get full immunity, some studies show 26 (!) shots are required. Immune-mediated hemolytic anemia, which is what Murphy appeared to get, is a horrible horrible way to go. Please do the research. I have contacted both Murphy's vet and the drug company that provided the vaccine. His vet was sadly unwilling to stop prescribing the vaccine for the few days she said it would take to do "more research." It is the Fair Oaks Veterinary Hospital in Marietta. The drug company, who I won't name for now, is going to do a necropsy on Murphy to confirm the diagnosis. I want them to change their marketing to warn of the danger and admit the low incidence of infection. We'll see.Read Less

We'll see.......Wait, there's more:So, tonight, Dr. Holland from the Fair Oaks Veterinary Hospital called me to tell me she had "done her research" and had diagnosed Murphy with Spleenic Hemangiosarcoma, a somewhat convenient disease in that it cannot be confirmed by necropsy at this point and because it can cause sudden collapse and death within days. But here's the problem, from the ACVS website (since she helpfully informed me that not all websites are accurate), there should have been signs in his physical exam THAT THURSDAY of the following:Signs associated with splenic masses can be subtle and include weakness or may be more obvious e.g. collapse and sudden death if the mass ruptures and bleeds internally. Mucous membranes, such as the gums, may be pale and heart and respiratory rates can be increased. Other signs can include: abdominal distension, weight loss, inappetence and fainting or weakness. No mention of any of these issues from his physical exam. At least, the abdominal distension, pale gums and heart and respiratory issues should have been evident. She also told me she had done research on the leptospirosis vaccine "ad nauseam" prior to proscribing it for any of her patients. A far cry from the two continuing education seminars, one from the drug company, she mentioned yesterday.I have zero confidence, zero, in this vet. Zero. And check it, Dr. Holland, there is nothing here that is actionable. Read Less

Spoke twice with receptionist Janice[nice, welcoming and friendly] about a kitten spay. As I informed her my kitten had all her yearly required shots completed in January, and is an indoor cat,as an unemployed veteran,I really wanted, and needed,no surprise extra charges. At first,I was told[as the FOVH "honors" a Cobb County Humane Society $60 spay/ neuter voucher] my total fee would have be elevated for non-covered expenses of pain medication during, and post surgery, totaling $110.Well,that was three weeks ago.Now today when we talked,Janice told me price would be "around $130" and I would have to also purchase a flea inoculation shot - even though I reminded her the kitten strictly stays inside and does NOT go out to attract any fleas. After reading one review [unfavorably]mentioning a Dr Holland,I asked who would be the veterinarian operating on my kitten. Yes,that would be one and the same Dr,who I was told was very good and that the reviewer just didn't like her product solicitation.Sorry, but Goodbye!I wouldn't give this business three stars because I can't say they're "A-OK".I won't give this business one star since I didn't bother to use their services. I called to get information on getting my cat spayed, the receptionist was incredibly kind, and patient with all my questions. She was very knowledgeable about what would happen, and gave me an estimate of the cost for her shots and spay. When I brought her in, the receptionist at the front desk, a different lady than the first I had talked to, already knew who we were and what to do, without even my having to prompt her with our information. The surgeon came in and told me all the information I needed to know. He and the assistant were both incredibly good at handling my girl and keeping her calm. She's naturally a bit of a scaredy cat (ha) and can be very skiddish around strangers. She was obviously very comfortable with the both of them. Dr. Holland is incredible. She came in, gave my girl a good look over, sent her into the back to get prepped, and ran over the costs for the procedure, which turned out to be the exact price I had been told in the beginning! Doctor Holland bought the clinic from Dr. Harrison almost 10 years ago and all I can say is I totally trust her with my most precious possession my Norwegain Elkhound Tank. She takes the time to be sure you know what is going on and what you need to do. She is a wonderful professional and she has an outstanding staff. I feel that her prices are fair and I will continue to take Tank there as long as she is there. I value her expertise highly. Read Less

Went to Dr. Holland for our baby, Frank, and ended up needing several procedures and treatments for his various ailments. He is 10 years old, so we anticipated this. Nothing she said was surprising to us. We were quoted a fair price for her services, and opted for surgery to remove some masses under Frank's arm and on his lower eyelid. Dr. Holland could have pushed us to have expensive pathology tests done on the masses, but honestly and clearly stated that at his age, it would not have improved the quality of his life, and could be tested at a later date if the masses returned. Our baby ended up having a prolonged reaction to anesthesia and they urged us to allow him to stay overnight at no additional cost, and even entertained my very worried husband's fears by letting me see the area in which he would be sleeping. Dr. Holland has always been firm and honest with me, and since I consider my pet to be a child under my care, and not a tractor that needs repair, I value her experience and expect full honesty, which I have always gotten. In addition, when she purchases, transports, stores, and administers ""chicken baby food"" at ""2x"" the store cost, I don't complain because she's incurring the cost of said purchase/transport/storage/administration for herself. Her staff is incredibly friendly and gentle, and I've never waited (in 4 visits) more than 10 minutes with Frank for services. She does not make me feel less than, as some reviewers have mentioned, because when she speaks to me as a professional, I as a layperson, listen and heed her advice. If Dr. Holland were a pediatrician, I highly doubt she would receive the negative feedback that some seem so eager to heap on her, most of which is comprised of nothing more than whining about the expense of caring for a family member and being overly sensitive to a doctor who cares enough to tell the truth. I'm sure she sees more than her fair share of animals whose caretakers could really care less. I personally could not handle it. Finally, I'd like to point out, that as a doctor, regardless of her obvious talents and commitment, she can only fight so hard. From what I understand she is devoted to providing compassionate and thorough care to all animals that come her way, including abandoned or neglected neighborhood animals. However, again, these are not appliances, these are animals...lives. If you've lost a pet while under any vet's care, I hope that you realize that life is very precious and very fragile, thus making Dr. Holland's sometimes harsh dedication to the health of the animals in her care ever so much more vital. Avoid Fair Oaks if you can! The Vet there nickels and dimes you to death... She told me my kitten needed to start over his distemper boosters, but I called another vet in the area that told me it is not true... I would have shelled out an extra $18 without knowing the facts if I hadn't gotten a second opinion. They are overall higher than everyone else, and they will charge you for every little thing like Chicken Baby Food - and the price they charge is 2x what it costs in the store! She also tries to find reasons to keep you coming in, to milk that cash cow. She doesn't review records well before you come in (we told her about a new cat we got, he was already a patient, and she should have known that before we brought our established cat in!). And she somehow makes you feel ""less than"" in the way she treats you. So my advice is to STAY AWAY and find someone else who cares and won't charge you for every single thing! Read Less

Read Less

All our pets (cats & dogs) have been going to Fair Oaks since Dr Holland took over the Hospital.  She is always very attentive to all our pet's needs. She is very informative and educates us on any medications or procedures they may need.  She has seen our pets through sickness, health and even death.  I find her compassionate towards our pets as well as ourselves.  She is highly skilled and knowledgable from diagnosis, surgeries and care. She is to the point (black & white-no grey areas) on what is needed and should be addressed as far as your pet's health and needs. Her priority is your pet!  I have also referred friends that find the same in her practice. Read Less

Went and bought my rabbit in to see the vet for a check up and organizing a neuter, the vet at Fair Oaks is Dr.Holland... While the receptionists I spoke to were very welcoming and friendly, Dr. Holland was not. She spoke down to me, she was condisending and made me feel stupid. it felt so uncomfortable. I just wanted to leave. While in consultation she kept trying to sell me other things like rabbit pills and vitamins which I thankfully said no to but then repetedly putting a guilt trip on me... By the end of the consult my hands were full of vitamins, rabbit food and litter...When I left the room, I told reception I did not want to buy any of those things and they were ok. I paid the bill and left. I have not been back ever since that awkward consult. I took my rabbit to a adifferent vet to get his neuter elsewhere. Read Less

I have a bunny and I can say I looked for vets who would take in rabbits everywhere. I was a little skeptical at first, but my first rabbit was very sick so I took him to Fair Oaks. They were very understanding and helpful, and so incredibly sweet when they found out he didn't make it through the night. I knew he had the best care given to him at the vet's though and it's all I could ask for. Least to say, they've been incredibly helpful with my other bunny.Read Less

I love this place! Their staff is so incredibly sweet, smart and understanding. How nice! I was given times of when everything would happen, and the assurance I could call anytime to check in. My girl was picked up the next day, with no complications, and no surprise charges. She's at home and doing great now, and her scar is teenie-tiny! Dr. Holland also works with the humane society to do the low cost spay and neuter with the certificate, saying its how she feels she is "giving back." Dr Holland and her staff are truly such a blessing. I will be using them as my vet from now on. Read Less

I have been going to Fair Oaks for 37 years.

Read Less

I use Fair Oaks for vet services as well as boarding and grooming.   Vet services, meds and grooming services are comparably priced to other places I've used.  Boarding prices however can't be beat at $12.00 per day for a small dog with a doctor onsite!   I've boarded at other places at upwards of $36.00 per day with no doctor on staff!  The staff is friendly and cares about your pet.
