This review is bitter sweet. This is my 50th review on Yelp as well as a story about my encounters with the wonderful folks at Montrose Animal Hospital. We have only lived in Atlanta for a little over 10 months and our cats relocated with us. One of these cats was my Cynder. Cynder has been in my life for 13 years. Before the move to Atlanta, she was a large, cuddly, and loving character. After the move, she began to lose weight and then came down with a urinary tract infection. We were panicked, since we were not familiar to the area and did not have anyone in the area to provide us with any guidance for good veterinary care. Thanks to the power of the Internet, we were able to get our sweet Cynder the help she needed at the Montrose Animal Hospital. The treatment that we received upon this visit was exceptional to the highest degree. In Cynder's 13 years in Chicago, she became familiar with many veterinarians in the area because none of them were quite good enough for her. After treatment for the urinary tract infection, Cynder developed more issues and continued to lose weight. It was discovered that she had a hyperthyroid thanks to Montrose Animal Hospital. They came to the rescue again and treated our Cynder. Cynder started to gain weight and things began improving.About a month later, a week before Christmas, that's when Cynder's breathing became laborious for her. It became clear that something was wrong and we found ourselves at Montrose Animal Hospital again. That was when it was discovered that she had fluid in her chest and was essentially drowning. They then saved her life, and went above and beyond our expectations to make her comfortable after treatment while we were out of town and she was in boarding. You must know that Cynder has NEVER been away from home. When I came to pick her up the week after Christmas, it was the first time I've seen her so happy while I was away. She flourished in their care and the days that followed. However, it didn't stay that way for very long.I was advised in my previous visit that if Cynder developed fluid in her chest again, she could not sustain life. It was unknown how long it would before it happened again. It was Saturday January 11, where we were startled with the rapid decline of Cynder. That Friday she was running around and hopping on the furniture so I was emotionally blindsided. We were hoping she would hold on so we can bring her to Montrose Animal Hospital Monday morning. As the morning of Sunday January 12 progressed, Cynder declined further. We brought her to emergency services where they brought Cynder into peace. Our hearts were shattered, not only for losing our Cynder, but also for not being able to have her assisted into peace by the people who cared for her and also loved her for the last few months. With that being said, we are devastated by the loss of Cynder but are incredibly grateful to the staff at Montrose Animal Hospital. Cynder was our golden girl and we have never trusted another animal hospital in the way we trust Montrose Animal Hospital. We have two other cats, which will no doubt visit them for their check ups when they are due. From the bottom of our hearts, we appreciate all you have done for Cynder. Read Less
