This is an amazing highly trained veterinary hospital. The level of care both my dogs have received from puppyhood to current senior care Is stellar. My dogs have had issues that require special attention including the skin challenges, and emergency spleen removal extending the oldest dog's life at age 10 to 15 plus years of age. Both dogs having good experiences with dental cleanings, Each dog has had thorough yearly check ups and the diligence in which each one was examined has truly extended their lives. Issues were caught and addressed at these check ups and they are both elderly at 13 and 15 years of age. My two dogs are a testimonial of the wonderful care provided by Dr. Riley, Dr. Zelman, and Dr. Flowers. My Dogs have been seen by Dr. Riley since puppyhood, however, I have taken them to see the other two vets on occasion and all are quite competent. I would strongly recommend any one looking for a new vet to check these guys out.   We have primarily used Dr Zelman and he always takes the time to listen to our concerns and questions and does a great job explaining to us his knowledge.   They have always been able to get us in when we have emergencies.  They also seem to do a great job with scheduling  as we are always seen very close to our appt time. Super friendly! They go above and beyond! I had to make an emergency stop one Saturday. Something was wrong with my dog! I rushed over and they said we are an hour behind, but because they could see my dog was in pain they rushed him back and took care of it right away. I've been going there for ~15 years and I absolutely love and appreciate every soul that works there. Dr. Reily and Dr. Zelman are Angels sent by God to care for my beautiful dogs. These doctors went above and beyond to take care of my 2 babies, one handicapped and sickly, the other suffering through a broken pelvic, to enduring and succumbing to cancer. They didn't just care for my pups, they loved them. I can't say enough, or put it into words how grateful I am for these two doctors and, of course the staff,Sherry, Cary, Maddie, to name a few. Dr. Riely and the ENTIRE staff was fantastic over the last 6 months while my dog was sick. We had to put sweet 15 year old fluffy to sleep last weekend after exhausting all options to get her better. The Vet called me back personally maby 10 times after any crazy question i may have or just to randomly check how she was doing. These people gave my dog a shot that was honestly not needed without my consent (making me unable to afford the visit which they got mad at me for. Which made me very very uncomfortable and nervous). Also, recommended applying febreze for my dogs skin rash. Not at all pleased or thankful. Too nervous to go back and confront them after all of this. Read Less

The reason why I decided to choose this vet is because 1) they actually listen to the pet owner and 2) they have good prices.  That being said and still true to this day, I was a little taken aback when I brought my pet to Shallowford and my pet was given a check up that I didn't ask for.  The vet proceeded to check for other things that could be wrong with my pet.   It was as if they were trying to increase my bill.  When I asked the vet why, they could not give me a good explanation.  So the next time I bring my pet to Shallowford, I will 1) not see that same vet, and 2)  walk out if they persist in giving my pet check ups that I didn't go there for. While I don't necessarily think all of the veternarians here deserve all 5 stars, Dr. Reily is the BEST vet that I have ever taken my dogs to. I have 2 shih-tzu's (one is 13, one is 9) that have some SERIOUS allergies/skin allergies. Dr. Reily is SO patient, she answers every question that you could possibly have, she takes VERY good care of your animal. My two shih tzus unfortunately have wound up with staph infection somehow - this is by far the HARDEST battle as it just doesn't seem to want to go away. Dr. Reily truly understands how difficult it is for the owner both emotionally and financially and she works with you to ensure that your pet it healthy; her number 1 interest is the health of your pet. She is AMAZING - I cannot say enough good things about her. I am so so thankful that we found her - she will seriously love your pet as much as you do. The doctors are VERY caring - my two older shih tzus have been seeing Dr. Riley and she does a PHENOMENAL job. She treats the pets as though they are her own. Dr. Riley really ensures that your pet gets the top notch treatment they deserve and the vet really helps you try to protect your wallet as we know vet visits can add up! Ever since finding this unreal vet practice back in 2010, we haven't taken our pets anywhere else. We started going there with my childhood dog when he presented with signs of cancer. They got him the help he needed, but after a couple of ultrasounds (outsourced) and some thorough review (Dr. Reilly spent 30+ minutes on the phone with my father discussing lab results, likelihood of recovery and our best options) we decided it would be too invasive to cure. Surgery would have been breaking his hips to remove the quickly growing tumor along with intense chemotherapy for a chance of recovery. 4 weeks later, we took him in for a check up and they said he had 2-3 days until his kidneys backed up and down, which would be a very painful process. We took him in on a Sunday afternoon - they opened the office just for us. Dr. Reilly was unbelievably amazing throughout the entire process. NEVER have I seen a vet more in tune with the emotional process of losing a furry family member. A week after he crossed the rainbow bridge, we received in the mail a imprint of his paw in clay with his name pressed across the bottom along with a letter stating they had made a donation in our dog's name to UGA's vet program. We have since taken all of the dogs in my family there. I have 2 dogs (one of whom I took there for emergency surgery after eating a copious amount of string - Dr Zelman was awesome - got her into surgery 2 hours after bringing her in; had her ready to go home that night with no complications. They called the next day to check in), my mom has 2 dogs, and my dad has 3. I have moved 45 minutes away and will still make the drive. Read Less

I used to frequent Shallow Animal Hospital, and if I had not moved so far away, I'd continue to do so! Dr. Zelman and the entire staff at Shallow Animal Hospital are top notch. I took my dog, Diesel, into see them when I had just adopted him. He had just recovered from parvo, and had some rough demadex going on as a result. They fixed him right up. They even sent him home in a little custom made shirt for his itching! Both times I've needed to have surgery done on my pets, Dr. Z has made an excellent recommendation to Dr. Avra's office. You can tell the entire staff at SAH really cared about you and your animals. Amazing office, would recommend to anyone! I'd continue to go if I did not move over an hour away. :( Read Less

The doctors and staff at Shallowford Animal Hospital are fantastic. My family has been taking our pets here since we moved to Marietta 10 years ago. My parents still take their dog to Shallowford, but I have found somewhere closer to my home in Atlanta to take my dog. I did however take my dog to Shallowford Animal Hospital during an emergency when I was by my folks for the holidays. The staff worked me into the schedule and the doctor was very attentive.
