One of my cats gets very anxious and aggressive at the vet. At my previous vets office, they did not handle her well and her most recent appointment resulted in scratches, her literally getting FLUNG across the room, and them refusing to give her her annual shots without sedating her. I took her to dogwood and the difference was astounding! The vet got down on the floor with her to give her an examination, she was patient, gentle, and we got through her shots with barely a hiss! She also was able to give me some pills to calm her down for future visits without sedating her, something my previous vet said was not available. Several different doctors at Dogwood have treated five of my pets over the last several years and have always been very happy with their care. The docs are knowledgeable and compassionate and don’t try to force their value system on you. The staff have always been very accommodating when I’ve called in needing a last minute appointment (or needing to cancel an appointment at the last minute due to a cat who refused to come out of hiding). And the staff in the kennel area (both for post-surgical stays and routine boarding) have been very caring and took time to provide individual attention to my pets. Read Less

We changed to Dogwood Veterinary as we were so impressed with their ability to respond to our needs after hours. When you have older pets, they need 24/7 care and being able to text photos and speak with a vet in the evenings or on the weekend is incredibly important. We recently had to put our senior dog to sleep on a Sunday due to the pain he was in. We didn’t want him to suffer and were able to meet with Dr. Morris immediately. The compassion and care is unparalleled to any veterinary services we have ever experienced. We’ve seen three of the four vets for our family and each one is excellent. I cannot say enough about how wonderful this place has been for my puppy and my family! The office staff is amazing.  The vet techs, kennel, and grooming staff are knowledgeable, fantastic and love their clients! Dr. Morris is laid back, calm, and doesnt try to force anything on you (and he obviously loves dogs!)-- which is what my Gypsy needed! I had a great experience at Dogwood Veterinary Hospital and Laser Center! Our Boxer had a growth in his ear. Dr. Morris did a great job removing the growth with the laser. I met with Dr. Canaday before the procedure and with Dr. Johnson for a follow up after the procedure. The doctors and staff are very professional and took time to listen and answer all of my questions and concerns (I had a lot of questions ;)). The wait time was minimal. We love our vets! Dr. Johnson has been with us for every step of the way on our litter of boxers. Dr. Canaday was with us when poor Hoshime broke her leg last year (super scary moment for me). My daughter called me and said she thinks her dog is dying. I drove from Atlanta and picked her up and we went straight to this clinic. As soon as we walked in we were greeted in a unkindly manner and the front desk staff didn't seem to concerned and informed us we would be worked in.  Right then I had a feeling we should find another place. Over an hour+ later, we finally get called back. Long, emotional story short. Before they could even tell me 100% what was wrong with Smokey, they came out with two treatment plans. I am a dog owner of 11 years now and have been to a few vets, this by far was the worst place I have ever experienced.  One plan for over 200 dollars to give the dog a bag of fluid and nausea medication. Another plan for over 400 dollars to keep the dog overnight, and run more expensive test, then continue treatment from that point. I expressed financially I was strapped at that point but could they please set up a payment plan with me. I get it, vets are expensive, and I would have been paid in a couple days. Would have paid bill in full. Bottom line, this place showed NO compassion, they wanted their money upfront. Not willing to set up any payment arrangement. Desprately just wanting to save this poor babies life. They actually would not begin even treating the dog until I signed and paid the bill. So I paid over 200 dollars to just have an iv fluid n a syringe of nausea medication. We left and my daughters dog died in her arms a few hours later!!!!! In an emergency situation. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET TO THIS PLACE FOR HELP. They will not even treat your dog without money upfront. Their lack of compassion was shown the minute we walked in the door. I am sure if it wasn't such an emergency situation we could of maybe found more options, other places to go. Please I beg of you, do not take your pet here. Very rude staff, and uncaring staff. Dr Morris is awesome My chihuahua needed a growth / tumor removed on his back. Procedure and recovery have been excellent. Laser work on wound has healed with minimal scaring considering size of incision (6-7 inches). Dental work was also performed and his breath is back to kissable. Thanks to support staff. Dogwood Vet is a "meet all your pets needs" kind of Vet Hospital. They are very knowledgeable about the medications they prescribe along with the short & long term side effects. All of our dogs have been microchipped and any future pets will also be chipped. One 4th of July our boxer heard firecrackers and went missing. Exactly 1 month later, another veterinarian's office 30 miles away called with the news a family had brought her into their office! 4 years later and we are still so grateful to that family that found her & that Blossom is with our family! The Cunningham family can't not express how well Dogwood Vet helped us through our rough week in half losing 2 of our boxers within a week of each other. Everyone there was so helpful and so very nice that it made us feel like we were at home. They were there the day after Christmas, even though they were closed when we lost our sweet Zoey to a heart attack and then they were there when it was time to bring our sweet Bo in to cross the rainbow bridge! This place is Horrible. Not only do they rip you off by over charging and ordering unnessary tests, their holier than thou attitude is way out of line. The office manager has zero customer relationship skills. None. And she did not keep her word with me. She was Way out of line on two seperatec occasions. And the doctor went round and round about not using a med that my dog has been on from my previous vet...then prescribed me that exact same med.And wanted to do a number of unnessary tests. I have been going to Dogwood since, well, before it was Dogwood. I started with Dr. Wayne Morris way back (I won't say how long ago,but it was a long time ago), while I was living in Riverdale. He had just started his equine practice, I think. Over the years, he moved his office to Pine Rd in Newnan, then joined with Dr. Richard Berta to form Dogwood with a small animal side. It was great for us-Call the vet out-get the whole family seen to. Then they decided to drop the equine part and kept the small animal. I stayed for the dogs and cats and moved my horses to another practice. Dr. Crosby-Johnson came in, Dr. Berta left, and now there's another new vet. But the quality of care has always remained the same-top-flight. Good people, good explanations of what is going on, reasonable prices. I've never had a problem in over 35 years.Read Less

Our old rescue dog has the most wonderful and unusual personality of any dog we've ever had. He also has had some of the most unusual maladies. At 15 yrs - he is stubborn and still a fighter. Dr Morris has worked with him for years - his skin allergies, his arthritis, his lumps and bumps, along the way. Always caring - always concerned and trying everything and he can think of to make this dog's life better. Don't know what we would have done without him. We are very grateful to have a vet that works so hard for his patients and the owners. My husband and I have a difficult dog to treat to put it mildly. She has fear based aggression that we've spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars on to try to eradicate, but she continues to be less than friendly to everyone in the universe except us.Dr. Morris and his staff have been extremely kind and patient with our elderly girl, and we are very grateful. They send lovely follow up emails after visits and are always friendly and helpful at each visit.Dr. Morris has tried different treatment options for our girl's current problem, and we are thankful that he has presented us with options. I found Dogwood under emergency circumstances: my 16-year-old daughter's beloved guinea pig had injured his leg & he was not walking on it. He was acting lethargic, she was out of town & I was in a panic looking for a vet that treated exotics/small animals at 9 p.m. You guys just don't understand how important this little guy is to my daughter - this was serious.Dogwood, being local, was literally the first call I made and left a message for. After 15 minutes & 9 other phone calls (all of them more horrid than the last, no one treats small animals, techs were rude with a "its just a guinea pig" attitude, one was quick to say "It's going to cost a lot of money for a guinea pig" - grrrrrrrr) Leslie from Dogwood called back. By this time I was nearly in tears. Leslie was BEAUTIFUL. I think I even began the conversation by saying I know he's just a little guinea pig, but he means the world to my daughter who takes amazing care of him, he's always on her Twitter & Facebook & that he's the world's most spoiled piggy... to which Leslie responded "I understand - even those little guys can steal our hearts." She asked me tons of questions to get an idea of how Weasley was doing, called Dr. Johnson, then called me back to give me detailed instructions of what to do for that night and booked an 8 a.m. appointment for Wease.Leslie wasn't in the following day, but the staff were INCREDIBLE. She'd let the rest of the staff know to expect us. Mary at the front desk made me feel welcome, Dr. Johnson & Hannah were understanding about my concern for this little guy, & went into detail on procedures & pricing before doing anything. I chose to go aggressive because Weasley is that important to our family (& fortunately I'd put a little away in savings). They were gentle with him & gave me all of the options before doing anything. Weasley is doing just fine now, & is back to his old energetic self. I owe Leslie, Dr. Johnson, and Hannah a debt of gratitude for taking care of both he & I that night & the following day. Dr. Johnson treats small animals and exotics (one of the few in the state) & the staff appear to respect their work along with their patients. Watch out esp if your pet has to stay for the day or be dropped off. They may give you a estimate but they do alot of additional treatment without your consent. I love this place. In 2001 when we had the January ice storm my 14 year old chinese crested was very ill. At the time I was using another vet clinic. They closed their doors 2 days before the actually storm and would not see my Becky. On the day of the storm I was so desperate for her to see a doctor I just started calling vet offices and Dogwood was the only one that answered. They were their to cancel the days appointments but told me they would wait and bring her in. They didn't know me but they had enough compassion to see us. I did go back to my regular vet at the time but was treated very poorly and switched to Dogwood. The best choice I could have made for my 4 legged children. The Front End staff is very helpful and friendly and remembered us from the beginning. The vet techs are very knowlegable and gentle and caring. And we love Dr. Johnson. Besides being a wonderful vet you can tell she genuinely cares about the people and pets that come in to see her. That speaks volumes to me. So Thank You Dogwood!! I will always recommend you. When we moved to Newnan from Orlando, FL in 2005, one of our primary concerns was finding a Vet for our 8 year old Black Lab, Ebony. It was very important to my husband and I that our dog be treated as the family member that she was. We were directed to Dogwood Veterinary Hospital by several of our new neighbors. We have been with them and, specifically, Dr. Johnson, ever since. During that time, we, sadly, lost our Ebony to an illness in 2008, but gained a new girl, Misty, in 2009. Dr. Johnson has been with us every step of the way. Her medical care is state of the art. Her love of animals and concern for their families is without question. She wept with us when we lost our Eb and rejoiced with us when we first came in with our Misty. She and her staff have always been very accommodating to us. The staff there is friendly, knowledgeable, and caring and their 24 hour Emergency Service is the best I have ever seen. When I relocated to Coweta County in July 1999, it was very important to me to find an AAHA accredited vet clinic for my then 6 year old doxie. I found that in Dogwood Veterinary Hospital and Laser Center. Through all the wellness visits and emergency visits, the staff and doctors at Dogwood have been very understanding, professional and always available to see me in my emergencies. When my doxie was diagnosed first with congestive heart failure and later renal failure, the staff and doctors were so patient with my many questions. My youngest doxie has IVDD and had to have emergency surgery at Auburn. When she was improved enough, Dogwood agreed that I could bring her back to Dogwood for continued recuperation. She was then local and I could visit her each day. I believe it accelerated her recovery and I know it helped my anxiety. Then that dreaded day came when I was faced with giving my oldest the ultimate gift, that of letting her go and cross that Rainbow Bridge. I couldn’t have asked for any better support, caring, sympathy and kindness than I received from the doctors and staff at Dogwood. They were the greatest!!! If you are looking for a clinic for your companion animal that is professional and truly cares about your critter and you, then I would highly recommend Dogwood!! Read Less

My cat got hurt bad and my regular vet was closing for lunch and said my cat didn't look that bad and to come back after lunch. My cat was bleeding! My friend that was with me uses Dogwood so that's where we went next. They got me right in, didn't care that it was lunch. Sasha got helped right away, but she didn't make it. This is not your typical 'vaccination only' hospital. The doctors here really believe in practicing 'good medicine'. You aren't just a number or a dollar sign at this vet. They not only believe in treating your pet for any problems but they also believe in 'preventive medicine'. Looking out for your pets future. Along with having skin issues - my 7 year old lab was showing early signs of arthritis. I only brought 'Lucky' in because he was itchy. Along with addressing Lucky's skin issues Dr. Johnson talked about signs of arthritis and what to look out for. One very easy thing I did for Lucky was put him on a glucosamine supplement, Dasuquin, (just like humans do) to help protect his joints and slow the damage that may be occuring. It's nice that a doctor takes the time to see beyond the original issue that brought you in and talks to you in depth about what else may be going on with your dog. You wouldn't find that in human medicine, that's for sure. If your pet is like a child to you - which mine is - You want the best!! It's at Dogwood Veterinary Hospital and Laser Center. Read Less

I see from reading the 2 and ONLY other reviews of this clinic that they are replying on how they received "EMERGENCY CARE" and that obviously their pet turned out okay, that TOO would make me want to give ANY Vet 5 stars if they saved my pets life. BUT my experience as a regular consumer with this Vet did not prove to be so "Great" I took my puppy in for kennel cough, he had acquired it on the flight to me from the breeder in Colorado, I was given medicine and I must say that the kennel cough did go away with no problems at all, but I HAD intended on using this vet as my PRIMARY vet based mainly on the fact of their certification and the fact they were only a couple miles away from where I lived. BUT during my visit with the vet, she asked me if I was going to Neuter my puppy. (HE WAS ONLY 12 weeks old) and I said I was unsure, because I thought i might want to show him, then all of a sudden she said he might have this and that, things that a couple weeks later after another vet visit in Peachtree City I was told my puppy had no imperfections at all medically. NO ONE can say for sure until about at 1 yr whether a dog is going to turn out to be a show dog or not, and I am not displeased because that is not what they told me. What they did say to me made me feel they were PUSHING for me to Neuter. I also found the Doctor herself to not have such a great attitude. I didn't get a good feeling when meeting her with my puppy. Her assistant however was WONDERFUL, but her assistant is not going to be the one treating my dog. I am now VERY PLEASED with The Animal Medical Center in Peachtree City, GA where Dr. Rip is wonderful to my puppy and gives me confidence in him as a veterinarian. Read Less
