My dogs have been cared for at Westmoreland since 2011. When the black dog to the left of this photo (shepherd mix) was diagnosed with hip dysplasia, the clinic studied stem cell therapy and applied this therapy to him. Now at age six and a half, this dog leads an athletic life pulling sulkies, scooters, and wagons. He still has hip dysplasia but his ability to be a working dog is excellent Another time this same dog was shot in the face on Christmas eve and one of the veterinarians met me in the late afternoon when all the staff was home for the holiday. He x-rayed my dog. The x-ray showed 40 beebee's. I have met the newest veterinarians and found them as considerate and skilled as the original. Most recently my visit ran late. I was in the waiting room and what I saw was a competent staff doing paper work completing the day at 6:30 pm that began before 8am. This clinic excels in team work. I took my dog to Westmoreland to get her nails cut and I loved it there the people there were so nice. For me I want what is best for my dog and right now the people at Westmoreland are good to my dog but that does not mean it will not change, and if I feel they are not being nice to my dog or they act like they don't care about my dog I will take my dog to a new vet no questions ask. I got my first puppy a few weeks ago and 2 different friends of mine recommended Westmoreland and Slappey. My pup got his first shots last week and did very well thanks to the friendly and caring staff. Very nice people and my little man was happy too! Will definitely recommend to others! This vet was recommended to me when I moved here, and I'm forever grateful. The staff here is incredibly friendly and professional, and their boarding service is absolutely outstanding. Whenever I have to leave my pet with them, I know they'll take care of him like their own. The staff also mails out vaccination reminders, and the location is convenient. Read Less

I have only been bringing my dogs here for less than a year. I had been taking them to another vet for years prior to discovering Westmoreland and Slappey. Comparing the two is like night and day! This place is very clean, has extremely friendly staff that engages in conversations, every doc that I've met has been super friendly with a genuine concern for my dogs. I took my dog here for the first time today. She has breast cancer and has not been doing well. Everyone here was amazing! Dr. John Hutchens was by far the best vet I have been to in the area. He was caring, sensitive and extremely knowledgeable. I was not rushed. He answered every question I had and never once made feel like I was inconveniencing him or asking stupid questions. He took his time and made sure that I was ok and understood everything he was telling me. Even the environment was different and very welcoming. Not necessarily impressed. I took my dog there to be boarded while I was on vacation, only to come back to be told that she was confused with another dog that looked 'similar' (not exactly) like her and had the first out of two incisions done to be fixed..... Basically Dr. Westmoreland lasered the skin before doing the big cut. No refund was offered. They glued her up, and 2 days later the glue was licked off. Had to spend 2 Saturdays to get my dog stapled, and then get staples taken out. I had to ask for a refund on her boarding fee, and go pick up the check all the way in Perry when I live in Macon. It would have been niced if they even thought to offer to mail it to me. The front office had never been pleasant and acted like I was pain, even though I hadn't even spoken one word to them, and never spoke angrily or hysterically through the entire duration of this event. As I left the door, an employee was walking in and let the door shut right in my face. Also, I boarded my other two dogs there during this same time. All three were supposed to get a bath and nail trim while I was gone. My dogs never received a bath (I can tell by how their fur sits if they had a bath recently or not), and they waited until I picked them up to trim their nails. Read Less

Dr. Westmoteland responded quickly to a medical issue I had with my show dog while in town for a dog show. He had her in and out of surgery within hours. The surgery was done after hours on Saturday which was greatly appreciated. My dog means the world to me. Thank you. Read Less

One of my dogs suddenly became very sick. I called as soon as they opened and they had no problem fitting me in. I was seen quickly and Dr. Westmoreland was so kind and got right to testing my girl. She ended up staying a few nights but he helped her so much! He always helped me by recommending a better food for her and we haven't had any problems since. Dr. SCOTT and his team rock. I have using Scott for over 20 years Their compassionate attitude the staff have with myself and my animals is AWESOME. I drive from Dublin, to Perry. A little over an hour's drive to see Scott. He is awesome with both the dogs and myself. So worth the trip. I would recommend them to anyone. They truly care about both your animal and you. I've been bringing our pets here for several years and have received the best care for our pets that we could've ever expected. We've had emergency visits, routine visits and follow-up visits. All were professional, caring, empathetic and friendly from the lobby staff to the departure staff. All of the doctors are just amazing ... they're caring, they're concerned and they're sincere. They remember the names and the symptoms of my other pets. They're like a really great next door neighbor .. that's able to treat your pets. I've used other vets, but I only did that once. I took my two German Shepherds to see Dr. Westmoreland and Slappey from 2007-2014. They were always kind and good with the dogs, as well as open to hearing my concerns about overvaccinating. (I had a German Shepherd in 2006 that died from an autoimmune complication from vaccinations.) But in 2014 I took one of my shepherds to see Dr. Hutchens. I let the receptionist know I wanted to speak to him about any vaccinations beforehand. After waiting in the exam room briefly, Dr. Hutchens came in with an assistant as well as a third man. (I've never seen a 2nd assistant come in for an appointment before.) Without any conversation about it, Dr. Hutchens walked over to my dog and promptly gave her a rabies vaccination before I could say anything! I feel the three of them were "strong-arming" me or trying to intimidate me and I haven't been back since. If a vet doesn't respect my right to choose what's best for my dog, then I can't respect his practice. Read Less

I have been going to see Dr Scott Westmoreland ever since he opened practice. I moved, used another vet and knew I had made a mistake. I now drive 40 miles one way to see the best group in the area. Thanks to Westmoreland and Slappey Animal Hospital, our yorkie, Hoagie is alive today. Just picked him up from the hospital yesterday and he is doing wonderfully. I was devestated after he slipped out the front door and to the driveway. I hit him with my car. Dr. Westmoreland and their wonderrful veterinary staff saved his life. Dr. Westmoreland was honest, up front and practical regarding our options. I trust him, Dr. Slappy and Dr. Hutchins with any of my babies. They treated him with love, affection and exceptional care. Dr. Hutchens met us at their clinic immediately and was sincerely concerned about our dog. Dr. Hutchens had a calming demeanor and confidently assured us that everything would be okay. After surgery, Dr. Hutchens took the time to walk us through exactly what he did to repair our dog's wounds. The next morning our dog had to go back to the vet so they could make sure she was recovering properly, there I was able to meet the some of the staff who were just as polite and helpful. Anyone who is new to the area and may be looking for a vet clinic, Westmoreland and Slappy is the way to go. It is refreshing to know there is a vet clinic/hospital in the Warner Robins area where the people are as good as their practice. I recently PCS'd to Robins AFB and had no idea where to take my dog. We got extremely lucky we found Westmoreland and Slappy Animal Hospital. Every chance I get I will recommend Westmoreland and Slappy Animal Hospital. Read Less

I love these people!  They have taken care of my pets for many years, and all of the doctors are phenomenal.  They have a great "bedside manner" with the animals, and they are easy to talk to.  Also, appointments can be made quickly, and they are happy to work in clients for semi-emergencies.
