They was my vet for many years until I lost her ( old age ) I love them then and now years later I got another baby ,and once again he will definitely be my baby's dr , I took her in for a check up and as usual ,they are great Dr Bailey is right there to answer any question ,he puts you're mind at ease , the staff is very friendly, it's like I never left ,thank you all so much ,will see you soon ,next appt .. I thought long and hard about writing this review...... but after my last phone call to the practice manager I decided I better disclose my experience. My Airedale stayed at Effingham Animal Hospital from April 30th, 2018 to May 8th, 2018. When I got her home I noticed on her kennel report that she was administered CapStar, a flea and parasite oral pill without my knowledge or approval. I called the same day as pick up to discuss this matter. I was told this was their “protocol” and that in the future it would be disclosed on paperwork and in discussion at kennel drop off for future clients per the practice manager. So I relented in my upset state and was satisfied at the moment. Had this been my other dog, he would have had an adverse reaction to CapStar and the reason for my call to them about the manner. The next morning after pick up my dog’s cough and nasal irritation I had reasoned to being actively barking in a kennel, seemed to be worse. We monitored the cough for two days, and I realized this may be symptoms of kennel cough as it did not resolve with rest and an antihistamine use in case it was allergy related. I booked an appointment with my normal vet (who does not board and reason for why I did not use them for boarding) and had her examined at the first readily available appointment. At the appointment, my normal vet informed me my female I had boarded at EFH indeed had kennel cough and had infected my second dog (who had remained in my home with a private sitter due to pre-existing items we had had been advised not to board him in a kennel environment with). I called the practice on May 15th to advise them that for health reasons alone, my two dogs were infected with Kennel Cough. The practice manager told me they disinfect the kennel daily and also examine every dog upon entry into their facility....... not once was I asked if my dogs were okay, or was an apology for their illness offered. I understand kennel cough is not entirely preventable even with vaccination and sanitization of a facility, much like human flu, but the lack of remorse and administration of medication of my animal without my knowledge has me regretting my use of their facility.
