I plan on visiting with my new puppy soon. My last two dogs, I have gone to Dr. Ducey. He did a great job, with my then PitBull, and did not react in any kind of way to a dog that has such a bad rep. A few years later, I had a second dog join my family in 2011. My dog became very very ill, the only thing I could figure out was that she had been poisoned or eaten rat poison. I called Dr. Ducey and he immediately took care of her. Alice lived another three years. Now its 2018 and I have a adopted a German Shepard and now a American Bulldog pup., I have tried other Vets (with my german shepard) and they have not been able to handle her, and over charged me for simple check ups. After reading some of the reviews I was hesitant but turns out that Dr. Ducey is a great guy. Staff wonderful. Prices very reasonable. Nice office. Think after rereading reviews seems that a couple of people were unable/unwilling to keep their pets under control. The Dr. is an older gentleman and my parents were both on blood thinner. He does not need to be scratched and people need to control their animals, not give the man a bad review because they can't/won't. Read Less

I thought this would be a great place to take my German Shepherd because it was near my home and all the nice reviews of this place . But I was wrong . I came in to have my dog's paw pad checked out . The receptionist was scared of my dog . Then made me tape my dog's mouth shut she thought I brought a muzzle with me ? , Bruce was not happy about this and was painful for him when I took it off. Then doctor Ducey came out to see my dog . All he did was point a flashlight at my dog's paw . And I could not understand a word he was saying , I guess because he's extremely old and should be retired . He gave me a shampoo for my dog's paw which I already told him , Bruce does not want me messing with his paws so I returned the shampoo the following week . There hours are weird. I just don't think there customer service is on point and you'll be in the waiting room for a lil minute . My advice take your pet somewhere because this place doesn't have the resources to care for your pet and not to mention this place is outdated, no computers , no fax, nothing . The clinic is shabby and antiquated. Dr Ducey is unfriendly, unprofessional, and has twice kept me waiting in the hot sun while they are late to return from lunch. The kennel is atrocious. I've already found a new clinic - never again. Read Less

I've worked for many years and I truly love it here. However, I feel that the below negative comments need to be addressed. One user claims that the exam room was a "1950s kitchen." However, that very exam room has been used since this of Ducey Vet Clinic was opened, which happened to be in 1923. And as for the cat-scratch story, I'm confident that the experience was not as bad as the person claims, as Dr. Ducey is a very kind man, and I myself have never seen him treat any customer or staff member rudely. I Love Dr. Ducey he's the sweetest vet. His prices are responsible. Dr. Ducey really cares about animals he goes above and beyond for his patients. He only gives them what they need he doesn't over medicate or vaccinate them which I truly appreciate about him. My dog is a large breed dog and he is hard to handle. Dr. Ducey spent two hours with me and my dog and he didn't complain once about my dog being naughty. Instead he made jokes and so even though my dog was acting up I had a good time laughing. If you get a puppy and it's your puppy's first visit he doesn't change you for the first visit. Well my dog is 15 months. It was my first visit and my dog is definitely no puppy and he still didn't even charge me for the visit just the shot and test my dog had which I thought was very nice because my dog behavior that day was no piece of cake. In my opinion I should have been charged for two visits in one but that just goes to show what a good man this vet is. I have lived in savannah my whole life and I've always had a dog so I have been to a few different vets in savannah and in my opinion Dr. Ducey is the BEST!!! Read Less

The first visit there was a while back. I know Dr. Ducey pretty well and he treats all animals with live and respect. I dropped my dogs off at the kennels and I saw the I guess u would call them kennel boys working. I looked into their work and they werecleaning the cages indor and outdoor perfectly. On top of that my dogs needed flee medicin while they were there and he put it on then and gave them their Meds every day. The office is well kept and he does a great job working on animals- anywhere from shots to neutering. His prices are low and his practices are amazing. And in the kennels he has a separate cat room for the cats so they are not bothered by the dogs. You can call ahead for an appointment and he will make one ASAP. I LOVE this place. They have uncoventional hours, i can call ahead when i need meds for my dogs and they have it ready when i get there. When we go on a trip, i can call and get anti-nausea meds for my one dog. His prices are wonderful and he saved our little girls life two days after we rescued her, she came down with parvo. HE SAVED HER! There isn't a lot of chit-chat going on, which is great for me because i don't always have the most time to hang out and talk. I love Doc, his staff, their practice and their prices. I honestly do not know how this place is still in operation! I went to Dr. Ducey to get a check up for my cat, Ollie. One of my roommates didn't shut the door all the way by mistake and my cat had gotten out the day before. She is an inside cat so I was searching all day and night for her, worried something had happened to her. When we finally did find her nothing seemed to be wrong with her, I just wanted to ensure this, so I made the POOR decision to take her to Dr. Ducey. Upon entering the office I thought it was a bit odd that there was information and posters on human pro-life. I thought it was strange for this information to be displayed at a business that has no relevance to pro-life/abortions. When I entered the room for her to get seen, I found it odd he didn't introduce himself, make eye contact, shake my hand, or ask anything about Ollie. I explained the reason for my visit and he was not concerned in the least. He proceeded to take her temperature and asked me to assist him in holding her. As I was holding her, she wiggled around and scratched him. He stated I need to keep control over my unruly animal. She managed to claw him again on the hand. He took it upon himself to STRIKE MY CAT IN THE FACE!! I quickly grabbed Ollie and let Dr.Ducey know that it was unacceptable and I will not bring my animal back to a veterinarian that hits animals. He informed me "" I am on a medicine that makes my blood thin and I am not going to bleed to death for your cat"". I explained animals sometimes bite and claw when scared, and accidents sometimes happen... especially after being out all night. His response was ""I am going to do what's necessary to not let her scratch the hell out of me"". I left the examining room immediately. I was noticeably upset as I tried to gather my things in the waiting room. Two other ladies were there waiting, they asked me what happened and I explained what happened to them... as I would not want ANYONE to see this vet! Dr. Ducey proceeds to FOLLOW ME OUTSIDE and says ""Do not talk bad about me in my office!"" I informed he was acting like a crazy person and that I will not be back ever again... and I won't! I could have dealt with the rude demeanor but poor treatment to my animal is unacceptable. People who have given a positive comment to him, I am glad you had a different experience than myself. I do not have enough room to write how awful my experience was. I brought my cat in for a check-up. He was unfriendly and the office unkempt. He was scratched twice by my cat and then took it upon himself to slap her in the face. I explained to him that is unacceptable, he responded with "I am on medication that makes my blood thin and I will not bleed to death for your cat". As I was exiting I informed him I will never be back. I was noticeably upset as I gathered my things in the waiting room and two other ladies were waiting. They asked what happened and I told them. Dr.Ducey proceeded to follow me outside and shouted, "Do not talk bad about me in my office". I retorted he was acting like a crazy person and I will not be back. I then drove away. I am very glad other reviewers had a different experience than myself. I would not recommend him if he was the last vet on the face of the planet. They work by walk-ins only... except for surgery. So it is convenient to go on the day you need to, but you may have to wait to be seen. Sometimes we are taken immediately, but we always allow plenty of time in case we do have to wait. Dr. Ducey has always been a help to my animal. My dog has been healthy except for a couple of occasions. One was gastrointestinal, which was treated, and my dog recovered just fine. Another was an instance of dermatitis, where I thought my dog was going to chew her front legs to pieces. He prescribed medications and a medicated shampoo. We saw relief almost immediately and continued with the medications. We have been lucky with no re-occurrence of the dermatitis. (We keep her on flea medication all year long... also heartworm preventative.) He allows us to purchase flea & heartworm meds individually so it does not hit our monthly budget too hard. I took my dog to Dr. Ducey because his prices are inexpensive and I figured he has been practicing for a long time so he must have alot of knowledge. My dog was 9 years old and I was told due to his age, weight and the heat he was having heart problems. I took him for a second opinion after two weeks of heart medication was uneffective. Long story short, he had cancer which had already spread to his lungs. We had him put down so he would not have to suffer any longer. Although I understand there is nothing Dr. Ducey could have done to save him, I am frustrated that he was misdiagnosed. I would recommend that you only take your pet to this this vet for regular vaccinations, not if your animal is sick. Read Less

After adopting my dog in early August, I decided to go to Dr. Ducey because his office was close and I read a positive review about him. I was very disappointed. The facility appears to be a shack turned office. The examination room was obviously a kitchen in the 1950s that now holds a metal examination table. The staff (single receptionist) is unkind and gave me an attitude frequently. Dr. Ducey, although very kind, was difficult to hear and incorrect on a few things. I was told my dog needed a vaccination, and was questioned about his stitches. I had to call the Humane Society to ask is they were dissolvable or needed to be removed They were color coded. I decided to leave Ducey Veternary Clinic which was difficult to do because they do not have a fax machine to send pet records to other clinics and their office hours are very strange. The new vet told me that my dog was already up to date on his vaccinations and he had no stitches. Read Less
