Everything you'd want your vet to be! Very high level of knowledge and understanding of cats. Dr. J is a bit rough in her demeanor and handled my cat less gently than I would have liked, but she was probably just being effective, and was a very good vet otherwise. I think it's great that local animals have a place to go for middle-of-the-night emergencies, although thankfully we haven't had to do that yet. S.A.C. is not unreasonable in anything like pricing or treatments or suggestions, though the front desk reps can sometimes be hard to get your message through to, although I'm sure they have to deal with a lot of incompetence on the customers' side and just get sick of it. The staff/doctor took excellent care of my niece and her dog.. Brodie was hit by a car, they gave us our options...and was very patient with our questions. They scheduled the operation the next day, they called my niece when they took him back for surgery and called to let her know when he was in recovery. My husband and I were headed for vacation in South Carolina when our baby boy had a severe stroke. We rushed to the closest 24 hour vet, Savannah Animal Care, which was over an hour away. Although our baby had to be put to rest, I have to say that the care and compassion we received was outstanding. The cremation service they used was wonderful too. Between Savannah Animal Care and Greenbrier, we've received numerous cards in the mail sending condolences and the absolute best cremation package I've ever seen for an animal. Wonderful emergency service! My parent's cat was very ill, after having a bad experience at the other emergency vet in town I did some searching online and stumbled across Savannah Animal Care. My dad then took the cat here where he was immediately treated. The staff would call with updates which put my parents at ease. I brought my dog, Honeybun, in for emergency care. As soon as they saw her, they rushed over, grabbed her & started immediate treatment. After stabilizing her, they answered all my questions & worked to get her care at a price I could handle. (Their prices are very reasonable as well). I took my cat in there 2 weeks ago after he got into a fight and he needed his tail amputated. After paying over $600 and having half his tail amputated, my cat was NOT getting better and his tail was NOT healing. I contacted my vet at Buckwalter Veterinary Clinic and had to spend ANOTHER $600 for them to completely remove his tail as it originally should have been. If you truly care about your animals and the level of care they receive DO NOT take your animals here! Read Less

I took my kitten here for an emergency and I was able to get in within 30 minutes of calling. The techs know what they're doing and the vet that I spoke to was so kind. My kitty was scared but they made sure she was alright. They did a thorough job and now my kitty is doing great! I am so thankful I went here, I was so worried for my kitten. Our eldest cat of 18 was having bathroom problems and was very uncomfortable and appeared to be in great pain. We were on vacation in Savannah with our two dogs. Our Australian Shepherd developed a rash on her belly. We called Savannah animal care on Saturday and they saw her that day. They assessed her, gave her a bath using medicated shampoo, provided a bottle of the shampoo, and prescribed an antibiotic spray. They were so great and took such good care of her. I would highly recommend them. We went to the downtown location which was very convenient as we were downtown taking a guided tour and were able to walk to the business. My good friend (a highly respected retired pathologist) and I found ourselves unfortunately late Sunday after a day of picnicking post church with a dog whose tail had been  badly trodden upon.  We rushed the poor dear heart to this miserable  establishment where because WE were tipsy and barefoot, she was given shoddy care. I was unable to use the facilities because of being unshod (never mind that all critters enter unshod). Our family has owned a home on Wilmington Island for over 7 years, and we frequent Savannah as often as we can, especially over the Holiday weekends. 2017 Memorial Day Saturday we were very concerned about our dog with a possible blocked urinary track and I immediately read several reviews regarding Emergency visits, choosing Savannah Animal Care. Upon arrival we were greeted and immediately taken back for our dog (52lbs) to be seen. The nurse asked us all the preliminary questions and treated us very well. After the tests were completed, the Vet came to our room and told us that it was a very bad infection, but no blockage (mind you, there were no x-rays or ultrasounds taken like our vet in Atlanta would do). She also had the antibiotic and other medication on site, cut in half, and ready to give to the dog, all within an hour and a half on a Holiday Saturday. She was very knowledgeable and concise, not concerned with charging us more than we needed with unnecessary tests/overnight stays/x-rays etc. Lincoln the dog has fully recovered from his infection with a change in diet (we also highly recommend chewy.com for all your dog's needs) and medication.I highly recommend Savannah Animal Care and will be using them in the future if need be. We raced to Savannah and on the way, had a family member make calls to the two overnight clinics there. The first one charged $600 just to walk in the door. The second, Savannah Animal Care, worried less about how or what we would pay and more about the status of our dog. Our family member said they had a feeling that SAC was the way to go, and she was completely correct. I called once we decided we were heading their way and the tech (Shannon? Brook? I was so traumatized I can't really remember) talked us through preventing blood loss and gave us directions to their clinic. Once we arrived, she met us at the back door and took our pup right in to assess him and stabilize him. I could hear her talking to him and soothing him as Dr. Jenkins went to work. They performed surgery sometime after 11 pm and even though our dog could have come home the following evening, they kept him an extra night for us since we were under a flash flood warning and worried about driving in heavy rain (and to be honest, I felt much better knowing they'd have their eye on him one more night). The price was MUCH more reasonable than daytime non-emergency surgery where we live and we only had to pay 50% that night and the rest when we picked him up (and the 50% was still less than the charge for being seen at the first 24-hour vet we called). All of our follow up visits have been included in that total. I have several veterinarians in my life, all of whom saw the pictures of my dog and told me he is lucky to be alive. We had a lot of luck that night, from stopping the attack to finding Savannah Animal Care and Dr. Jenkins. We are so happy with the care that my husband wants to start using SAC for our dog's yearly checkups as well, despite the drive. If you all are reading this, thank you so much! Great if you're looking to spend hundreds of dollars to give your pet a slow and agonizing death. Had an emergency and this vet happened to be the closest as well as open on the weekend so I gave them a chance. No one was in the building at all except the night nurse and vet. Still had to wait 20 mins in a room for the night nurse to show up, ask a few questions and leave. Finally the vet arrived, and she just looked at my cat for 5 minutes, prescribed some basic medication and shuffled me out the door. My cat's condition didn't improve, and finally I was able to take her to the vet I trust where we actually did a radiology scan as well as some other treatments. It's going well, but the solution this vet came up with didn't help at all, and may have hindered my cat's health. I was told the other branches have better staff and it's just the Bryan street one is awful from several people, and I believe it now. Thank god there are actually good vets in the area, don't bother with this one, again, unless you really want to spend a lot of money, waste your time, and put your pet's health in jeopardy. I took my chances with this place and I regret it. My cat's regular vet is closed on weekends, but with how she hadn't eaten in 48 hours and how lethargic she was, I didn't want to take my chances. The vet barely talked to me or communicated anything about what the issue could be as she did a basic check. We were given some medicine and sent on our way with no explanation from her. It was diarrhea medicine, even though she hadn't had any diarrhea (which I told her). But I'm not a vet, so I trusted them. I took her to her regular vet first thing yesterday after no improvements. Turns out she has kidney failure. I don't believe that there's a single vet in the world who can simply look at a cat and magically know it's kidney problems. But it's the fact that they didn't even TRY. The vet didn't suggest any further testing or ideas, and barely responded to any concerns I voiced. We could have caught this and started treating it TWO DAYS earlier than we did. We're doing everything we can now, but we don't know yet if she'll recover in any way from this. There are not enough words, to be able to thank Savannah Animal Care Clinic, for saving my boy. I live in Hinesville, and they were the only ones that were able to take him in, as an emergency. He was given the best treatment, promptly, and saved his life! During the time that Windell was hospitalized, the staff was keeping me updated (every 3-4 hours) about his status and progression, medication, etc. The clinic itself, is very clean and modern. The staff are very professional and friendly. Dr Johnson is an outstanding vet, having the honor to meet him the day I brought Win in. He immediately took care of him, and they all treated Win just like I would, with love and care, and talking to him, to calm him down. Price wise, I can say that it is a bit expensive, however, absolutely worth it. They just don't take American Express. Other than that, I recommend this clinic to everyone! It's an hour away from my house, but I would rather go to them, than go to a different vet that would not treat my baby boy the way he should be treated. I needed to take my cat in unexpectedly when she suddenly became ill. My experience from start to finish was excellent. I called ahead to make sure they knew we were coming, and it was so nice to have someone like Tess on the other end of the phone. She is so kind, professional and accommodating. With a first impression like that, I felt totally comfortable bringing Lolabelle in. Within moments of arriving Dr. Johnson was already taking a look at her and assessing the situation. We were literally in and out in about 30 minutes. Both Tess and Dr. Johnson were so gentle and sweet to her. I am pretty picky about how people handle my pet, especially when she isn't feeling well. We took our dog here on a Saturday. We have just moved to Savannah, and tried out a different Vet Clinic that Monday, but when our dog was still sick on Saturday, we had to take him to a Vet that was open on the weekend. I found Savannah Animal Care and they had good reviews so we decided to go there. Part of that decision was that they also offer 24/7 emergency care, which is important to note! Our whole experience here was wonderful. We started by calling at 4:30AM Saturday with concerns for our dog, and the lady who answered was extremely nice and helpful, she said we could bring our dog by right then or set up an appointment during normal hours that day. We made the appointment but it was nice to know we could bring him in whenever if things got worse. She also said we can drop him off so he can be monitored by a veterinarian. That was also reassuring! We met with Dr. Kari Jenkins at noon that Saturday. She immediately got on the floor to meet our dog and make him feel more comfortable. She listened to us, and was very thorough in her diagnosis and treatment plan and explanations. She offered us many treatment options we could try and went through everything with us. She was very knowledgeable and helpful and we felt much better after meeting with her. The clinic is also very upfront about the costs of everything, which we appreciated. We will now be taking our fur baby here for further veterinary needs, and it's great they offer 24/7 care! We highly recommend them! Read Less

Just picked my dog up after boarding him here for a few days. I had specifically asked for them to give him a bath ahead of time. He normally doesn't smell at all, but upon picking him up he reeks of urine like he's been covered in it. I asked and they said he hadn't been given a bath like I had requested, and they had a rude attitude to top it off. I take him outside and it is pretty clear he hasn't been walked all day. This is an amazing Animal Hospital!! My puppy was having a seizure late at night and we rushed her to Savannah Animal Care. We called them and explained the situation - the woman we worked with, Tess, was so amazing and kind over the phone. She got us into a room right when we got there and she and the doctor immediately started treating my puppy. My dog ended up having to stay over night. They answered the phone immediately every time we called all through the night and explained to us how she was doing and were very positive and upbeat the whole time. The doctor was great to speak with, very kind and very knowledgeable. This was a very stressful situation and the staff at the Savannah Animal Care made it much easier. I highly recommend this Vet!! Our pup wasn't feeling good. He was wheezing, hot, walking funny and had stomach issues so we wanted to have him seen right away. We called at 11:45 pm and they said we could come right over. The nurse was so friendly and welcoming when we got there. She was attentive, asked us all about the issues and took her time with us writing down what was wrong. She didn't rush us, she treated our dog like her own. Then the vet was also extremely friendly. She was very sweet with our dog, took her time and was super gentle with him, as I warned her he can be nervous and skittish. He did great with the doctor and the nurse. They were so great with him. They ran some tests and gave us all the medicine he needed to feel better. It only came out to $300. We were so impressed, especially for an emergency trip. Every other emergency vet we've been to has quoted $500-$800 or more. They were so great and SO reasonable price wise for emergency care. We will never go anywhere else in an emergency!!! The only reason they're getting 2 stars is because they were able to take a same day appointment and the tech was nice. The vet, without having ever seen my dog before was quick to diagnose her with heart failure. She said that her decreased energy and lack of appetite was symptoms of this. I went in to get her mouth checked...she barely looked in her mouth and jumped on the fact that she has a heart murmur. Was seen by another Dr. today and my dog was seen properly, and diagnosed properly with an infection in her mouth. Read Less

We took her to Savannah animal care after seeing all of the other rave reviews and its location. Recently, while traveling from the mountains of NC to Fla,  I received the best veterinary care possible at Savannah Animal Care.  Dr Jenkins and her technician (Lisa) were extremely professional and kind to my very sick dog.  They ran appropriate tests, treated her, forwarded her examination and treatment reports to our vet in Fla, and have made several follow up calls to us to ascertain our dog's progress.  Hopefully, we will not need vet services our next trip through Savannah.  However, if we do, Savannah Animal Care is where we will take our pet.Our dog is feeling much better and is on her way to recovery! Our Giant Schnauzer was limping and not his spunky self when we got back home after the St Patricks Day Parade. So like all good parents we rushed him into the car, on our way to the vet we called. they were closed. Recommended the savannah emergency clinic on stephensons, however, I had already had a very unpleasant experience there years back and so I googled them. With a majority of 1 star reviews i was concerned about the time it would take for him to be seem and the service he would get. So, we searched further and found Savannah Animal Care, my better half called them, they promptly answered the phone, the situation was discussed and the Doctor who was currently at their other clinic was called. We were then called right back ( less than 5min) and the Doctor decided it would be better to drive in from tybee to the downtown clinic because she was worried that the poison of the anticipated spiderbite would cause more damage to the tissue by us driving there. We must have arrived about the same time. The building is behind the holiday inn hotel on MLK Blvd and rather spacious. The vet tech, Andrea, that we had spoken to on the phone was awaiting our arrival outside and greeted us. She was very friendly, competent and caring and our Schnauzer was drawn to her, so much so he followed her in by her side. The clinic was roomy with good size rooms, clean and bright rooms, although the hallway's still had the dark wood paneling.  Our dog was weighed and looked at and his fore arm shaven within 5 minutes.   Dr. Kari Jenkins, DMV, , a young Lady with over 19 years experience walked in right after he was prepped. She treated the spider bite, which we had an experience with on the other leg, about a year and a half ago that required enormous amounts of money and time to get treated, so for obvious reasons we were worried. Our dog was running a  fever of 104+ Normal is 101, and by the time she finished her treatment, with cold compresses and two injections, he was back to normal. I can only say that I have NEVER met any Vet, that was doing the compresses themselves and sat on the floor watching the patient with us EVER, NEVER EVER. But she did.  She bandaged our dogs leg and off we went. He was mopey yesterday but this morning he is much better and so I wanted to thank the two people who took great care of us and our family on a day like st patricks were you can't get anywhere or anyone. They have a mission statement on their web site, stating why one should choose them:Attention To DetailQuick ResponseOpen SaturdaysHighly ExperiencedDedicated To Client Satisfaction;and I can only say they have surpassed that by eons.The service was sooo good that my better half afterward asked them what was "wrong with them" in regards to their service compared to other vets in town, and we got a reply:" we think things could be done better".
