Dr Rox is quite literally the most compassionate and caring veterinarian I have ever met. When my Annabelle, dog, was diagnosed with cancer, she swiftly referred her to Cobb Emergency to have the situation assessed. She is always very up front with you when she is concerned and doesn't charge for frivolous services for the sake of a dollar. Beware of food recommendations or a change in your heartworm medication.  The flea and tick med caused us to spend thousands of dollars trying to cure a suspicious rash on our Afghan Hound. Dr Levinson and her staff are kind and wonderful.  However, we had so many health issues when we changed our dog's diet and heartworm prevention.  It wasn't until we spoke with our breeder that we discovered the reason for the rash was a weakened immune system caused by the inferior food and flea/tick prevention recommended by this clinic. Once we switched back to Kirkland Dog Food and HeartGuard, we've had no problems whatsoever. We recently took our dog in for a check up after he was not feeling well and throwing up.  This was our first visit to Arkle and we had high hopes based on a few reviews that we read. However, we were extremely disappointed in the way things were handled when it came to our dog's health. Obviously, it is hard to diagnosis a dog based on general symptoms but we were shocked that the DR rushed to prescribe a medication that was unnecessary ( given based on an assumption before receiving the results of a test).  We also felt that the DR was condescending and treated us as if we were first time pet owners. We were clearly concerned about our dog ( as we love him like our own child ) ; however, the push to give medication before actually knowing if it was beneficial along with the " prescription " food was really a red flag. In our opinion, the DR was over aggressive in her treatment plan.  The real heart breaker was when I called the very next day to notify them that our dog was still vomiting and in fact more frequently and her response was, " we are closing in 5 minutes and I can't ask my staff to stay for your dog so you can go to a 24 hour clinic or call me in the morning if he is still sick ". This was completely shocking and appalling.  I could not imagine how a Vet would be so heartless, especially knowing our situation.  Ultimately, we took our dog to Chastain Animal Clinic ( Dr. Marshall). They were extremely nice and stayed late to help us get our dog on the way to recovery.  They knew exactly what to do and within a few hours of our dog coming home, he was back to his old self. This is my first Yelp review and I am never one to post any reviews. However, this experience has left us so upset and we never want any pet owner to experience what we went through at Arkle Veterinary Care. Dr. Levinson is amazingly thorough. There is nothing that goes unnoticed during your pet's exam. She often runs behind, but I think that's just because she spends so much time with every pet. When my family moved from that part of town, we began taking our dog to a large clinic in Alpharetta. They took our dog out of the room and did a very quick exam. We're not even sure they really examined our pet. We decided that the drive to Arkle was worth it. Dr. Levinson spent almost 90 minutes with our dog! We started taking our dog, Shelby, to Dr. Levinson when she was 9 weeks old, and they always treated her as though she was their own pet. Shelby went through some serious medical problems at points, including a snake bite when she was three. I was out of town on business when it happened, but Dr. Levinson, Abe and the Arkle team took extremely good care of her and kept me posted on her progress until I could get back. Every time she was ill, needed a check-up, or had to be boarded while we traveled, I felt like the Arkle team was capable, prepared, and genuinely concerned about her care. Doctor Levinson is the best vet there is! The rest of the staff are the best, too. Our kitty, Puddin is elderly, and has multiple health issues. They always manage to fit us in when she needs to see them for an unscheduled visit - they respond right away to questions, always return calls, etc. They show 100% care and concern for our kitty all the time. Our kitty would not be with us today without the care she receives from Dr. Levinson and staff - Dr. Levinson spends her own time researching the best way(s) to deal w/our kitty's health issues and has worked with us with special diets, tweaking meds, etc. I can't say enough of how we appreciate Dr. Levinson and her staff - they truly CARE for Puddin - not just her physical health, but her quality of life and happiness, too. I don't make referrals for animal care providers casually but I can sincerely make the strongest recommendation to Dr. Levinson and Arkle Veterinary Care. I have a wide age and health range between my two dogs and three cats, and each receives personalized, compassionate and knowledgeable care. I ask a lot of questions and I am cheerfully given a lot of answers! The staff is genuinely friendly and caring. And Dr. Levinson takes an active role in your pets health and well-being.
