He's seen several vets, nurses, technicians, and staff at Cumberland and everyone has been informative, patient, honest, kind, and accessible. Darwin is geriatric with chronic illness issues. We called on a Saturday morning and they were all booked..but i told my story about our baby "jack" , who was sick to his stomach ( a guess because as many times as we asked he did not volunteer this info) and we were leaving for the beach that morning and the kind receptionist agreed to see him. We have been coming to the Cumberland Animal Clinic for more than 5 years and would give this place a 6 star rating if we could. We have 4 cats who are very important members of our family. So, having a vet who can not only provide exceptional medical treatment but who also cares about our furry kids is critical and we get both of these elements at this facility. Our cats have had various ailments over the years that were not just run-of-the-mill illnesses and Cumberland has always done an amazing job of diagnosing the issue and recommending a course of treatment that is immediately effective. I cannot sing Cumberland's praises enough. We were clients of another local vet, but when that vet didn't seem to be interested in helping with my dog's anxiety issues, we started looking around. While we were hunting, one of our cats got sick. Since Cumberland is .5 miles away from our house, we made an appointment there. From the first moment, we've been blown away by how wonderful the entire staff is. We have an 8 year old dog, a 3 year old cat, and 2 kittens under 6 months. All of them have had their own things going on, but Cumberland has been amazing with all of them. And, of course, with 4 furmonsters all needing some level of care, price is a factor. None of our visits have included unnecessary charges, and their pricing is fantastic. I think we've seen every vet at Cumberland and all of them have been attentive and caring. I've been going to the this vet faithfully for the past two years. Dr. Tison is wonderful. I found this place randomly on Yelp when looking for a vet close to where I worked at the time after my little silky terrier got attacked by a dog much bigger than her while we were hiking. She was very lethargic after being attacked and when I brought her to see Dr. Tison, she was her happy hyper self again when he got down on the floor with her. The techs here are awesome as well and very patient. I'm not sure about the other vets here as I've only dealt with Dr. Tison. Very knowledgeable staff and highly trusted. DR. DeHaven has sold the practice to a big company who own 20 something other VETS. Everyone will now be paid by corp. follow corp. policy's and the vets will be paid a higher salary. It's sad that a local vet who was fabulous had to sell out to a company who could give a rats behind about the average person, or their pet. Dr. Tison has been wonderful taking care of our children since 1999. they we're a family you knew all of the techs, the support staff they we're all fabulous if you needed anything it was like calling a neighbor to ask a favor.  Our 1st experience was Dr.  Tison seeing our cat Purple who had terminal cancer it was a Tuesday and his operating day was Wednesday he was booked solid, he told us he started at 7 but to come in at 6 and he'd do the surgery; we didn't know he lived an hour away.  Since then he's been a tremendous, loving, caring person and a Jeopardy Champion.  We actually wished he could be our doctor.Since the sale of the clinic things have changed for the worse, more than a 100% turnover in techs and staff, Dr.  Tison only comes in 2 days a week so its almost impossible to get to see him.  We've lost 3 pets in 7 months to no fault of Cumberland Animal Clinic.  Missy our Puppy  had Osteosarcoma and with Dr. Tison and Dr. Schepps lived a happy life longer than she should, Buzzxaw out Kitty Leukemia got her, and Monday 4/24/2017 Damint succumb to old age.  Here is where we get super pissed Damit went to kitty heaven at 10:00 amWe filled out all of the paperwork for her arrangements with Paws Whiskers and Wags to have her picked up.  They didn't get her until today because someone at Cumberland didn't fax over the information sheet. The other two times our babies were picked up the  same day.  We called got some mumble jumble and finger pointing.  So we called Paws Whiskers and Wags they tried all day to contact Cumberland to see what happened they kept getting busy signals.We're moving the rest of the crew to Town and Country West with Raymond Bridges and Dr. Jordan.  Damit didn't deserve to be kept in a refrigerator like a piece of meat.  They were at one time the best of best; now its just a different place one that we choose after 18 years to no longer patronize.  With tears rolling down my fat cheeks, heartbroken goodbye. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this clinic and Dr. Tison in particular. He was our dog's vet for 14 years. He was always attentive and listened to every concern I ever brought to him. When it was time to say goodbye to our beloved dog, Dr. Tison took the time to let us come in early, took his time with us and our dog, and helped us say goodbye. A couple of weeks later, I received notice that the clinic had made a donation to UGA's vet school in our dog's memory. They've always done a good job checking up on my peekapoo and are super communicative when his shots are due. The only drawback is that they don't explain everything so you have to ask a lot of questions during the exams because they don't necessarily tell you the details, more of the top line results. I'm not from the Smyrna area and during a visit to a family member, my English bulldog had a severe allergic reaction. I called every vet in their area and was told a ton of excuses about not being able to see my dog for a few days or inability to accept new patients. I called this office and to my surprise they saw me that day, as soon as I could get my dog there. The veterinarian's assistant was so sweet to my nervous dog and took his time to examine her. The veterinarian, Dr. Tison, was the nicest and most informative vet I've ever visited. He addressed all my concerns and made very detailed instructions on how to care for my pup. Also, their price was half their competitors. I'm so greatful for this office and would recommend to anyone in search of a knowledgable and affordable vet. Dr. Tyson is wonderful! I went to him on the recommendation of a friend who's family has been going to him since before he was with this group. When my previous dog started having unknown health issues as she got older, he took the time to have an honest conversation about testing/procedures/treatments, the cost of them and the pros and cons of them. When she needed antibiotics, he gave me the prescription and told me to take it to Publix where I could get it filled for free. When it came time to let Josie go, he was there every step of the way, and you could tell he was affected by the loss (he even teared up). When he comes in to see a dog, he will actually get down on the ground to talk to them. I have another dog now and I continue to make the 45 minute drive to see him. Dr. Reiss is AMAZING!! We got our new puppy back in Feb and we have brought him in for all of his shots and visits. She is so kind and gentle with Wrigley and he actually enjoys his trips to the vet. Whenever she walks into the room his tail starts wagging and he runs towards her. She is very knowledgeable and incredibly informative for everything we could possibly need for Wrigley and we feel very comfortable with her. She was also very highly recommended by Atlanta Pet Rescue where we got Wrigley from. 5 stars isn't enough! Read Less

I took my beagle to Cumberland Animal Clinic for years and always had a good experience, but we changed to a different vet when we moved farther away. That worked out for a little while, until one my dogs actually had a real health issue -- then everything changed (poor diagnosing, overpriced services, etc.). I walked out of that office and immediately phoned Cumberland Animal Clinic (for the first time in years), made an appointment for the next morning, and we've never looked back. 5 stars for the vets and vet techs. No question about that at all. But I stopped going. It was a very tough decision, but the constant waiting there was worse than my human doctors office. Waiting in the reception area. Waiting in the exam room. And a very loooong wait to check out. There was always a lot of confusion checking out. If you are able to wait around, they are good, caring people. But if you have a regimented life, well, it didn't work out for me unfortunately. Read Less

Dr. Dehaven is a great vet. We have 3 dogs and have been taking them here for almost 3 years. Overall, we've had better experiences here than with other vets in the area.Couple of things to watch out for: Their front desk staff can be rude at times. Just yesterday, we had an appointment to have one of the other vets quickly check out an injury we believed had become infected. Due to the bad weather, we were running 5 mins late. I called to let them know and they told me we had to reschedule because we were the last appointment of the day and the doctor wasn't willing to wait. We came anyway since we were only a few blocks away and of course they were still there and took us. Don't know why they would send a way a paying customer considering how much they charge for even the smallest things.Ped meds are overpriced here. Shop around for your flea and heartwarm meds. Unfortuneately, they are not very accomodating if you choose to order from an online store, so be sure to get a written prescription during your visit. Read Less
