Friendly staff, and Dr Cat is the best! You can tell when someone is just doing a job or doing something they love. Dr Cat clearly loves taking care of animals. There are almost as many of her babies walking around as there are staff, and all friendly! The pricing is fair and she takes the time to explain anything that is going on with your fury kids. I am so lucky I was referred to Dr. Cat and American Heritage Animal Hospital! They really love your pets and have giant breed knowledge which is what I was looking for since I was adopting a Great Dane. And they don't charge you an arm & a leg! Fees are very reasonable! They even tolerate me being an overprotective mom. Dr. Cat looks at things reasonably and doesn't put your baby through things they may not need to go through. The staff are super disrespectful! The doctor's assistant, I believe she's a tech or something, she African American and has braids; while in the room was so disrespectful. She was rolling her eyes when the vet wasn't looking and when the doctor left the room she whispered under her breathe about her being ridiculous. Took the dog for grooming. Received a call regarding a concern. I spoke to the vet tech. The Vet had already took a sample and confirmed what I already knew, it’s nothing harmful, I paid $40 to a different vet months ago. This vet seems to be concerned about the wellness of the animals and is not nickel and dining the customers for profit. The staff us courteous and helpful I gave no complaints! Read Less

I was looking for Dr. Cat's  phone number when I came across the yelp reviews.  I thought the ratings were unfair since they were based on the experience others had with the previous owner, so I felt compelled to write a new review based on my current experience. I would highly recommend Dr. Cat and her practice.  When my dog started having seizures she worked with us diligently to find a medication combination that would work.  She called and checked on my dog, and retuned numerous calls to me when I had an issue or question.  She has been genuinely compassionate and caring and gone above and beyond  what I think a lot of vets would do in providing care to my dog.   She recommended and arranged for my dog to go to UGA animal hospital to see a neurologist when she thought it was appropriate.  The care he is receiving from Dr. Cat and UGA  have been instrumental in helping  to greatly decrease  the number of seizures my dog is having, and improve his quality of life.  I would not hesitate to take my pets to Dr. Cat and her staff. We were recently looking for a new vet for our 15 year old doxie because she was showing signs of illness.  Dr. Cat and her staff took great compassionate care of Dixie - and of us.  Although the end result was inevitable, we were in kind and caring hands.  I have since gotten 2 new dogs, both rescues.  Joey is absolutely petrified of the vet's office but Dr. Cat does a great job of calming him down.  I highly recommend this vet! Doctor Cat and assistant Mariah were a blessing for myself and my precious little Yorkie. As walk-ins we were seen immediately and his medical condition was immediately treated and resolved at a fraction of the cost!!! They had awesome pet-side manners and was very informative on additional services such as; pet insurance that will help for future visits. Dr. Cat and the entire staff are a godsend!!! I have four cats that used to fear going to another local vet. Now, they don't mind going to visit the vet at all. I've found that my cats are not only treated better at this facility but also respond better to Dr. Cat's treatment plans. The prices are also way better at American Heritage Animal Hospital than any of the other vet offices that I've visited in Gwinnett. I don't feel like I'm being over charged. The entire staff at this clinic is wonderful! They are all very confident and compassionate people who make taking care of our pets look easy! I work with MUSHrescue and I recently got a young husky girl that was in bad shape. Dr. Cat McGinnis and her staff have been absolutely amazing! This is my first rescue that I have brought to American Heritage and I was very impressed with the quality of service, friendliness, personable and made everything easy to understand. My experiences with American Heritage have been the best experiences I have had so far from any Veterinarian so far! American Heritage has been there for our family pets every step of the way. Our previous dog, who sadly had to be put down at age 16, was well taken care of here, and the staff were very knowledgeable and caring towards the end of her life. We had never had to put down a pet before - Dr. Cat made the appointment as easy as possible and comforted us and our beloved dog during the entire process.Shortly after we lost our pet, we decided to adopt a puppy from the Humane Society. Upon adoption, the Humane Society suggested we try the nearby VCA hospital for our new dog Max's first check-up. Max was very skittish and frightened there, and the staff were incapable of easing him into the appointment. They even suggested that he may be too aggressive to be a family pet. However, we decided to give Max another chance and took him to American Heritage for his next scheduled vet visit. While he was still very scared, squirmy and even a little aggressive at that time, Dr. Cat knew how to calm him, and never wrote him off as a lost cause. She even allowed us to leave Max at her office for a few hours each week while he was a puppy, so that he could socialize with her own pets there. Now, nearly two years later, Max is a well-adjusted, highly-trainable and friendly dog who hangs out with an office of people every day, as well as dogs of all shapes and sizes. Had we listened to the other veterinarian, we might have given up on him. We take Max to Dr. Cat's office for check-ups, immunizations, and grooming, and we know he's in the hands of those who care about him. The prices are also great - we often take advantage of the $5 nail trimming on Wednesdays. This place just gouged my room mate for $55 for a flea pill after she repeatedly told them not to do anything but neuter her cat. This cat has not had any fleas, had a flea bath 2weeks ago to make sure, has been in a flea free environment, and was check out by a different vet last week who also declared him flea free. This cat has also had very bad reactions to this medication in the past, which the vet would have found out if they had bothered to call before they arbitrarily gave him this over priced flea pill. Any other vet would charge $10 for the same pill. Please take your animals elsewhere, to a place that actually cares more about animals than about profits. Read Less
