Kind and caring doctors of veterinary medicine. Outstanding practice of medicine! Love all the staff. This clinic has affordably taken care of my dogs, cats, and goats for many years with love, kindness and compassion. As for the poster who made a negative review regarding pricing, if you called and made an appointment with Dr Vella, you would have been charged an office visit. As for your follow up calls to other vets, of course they are going to tell you why you want to hear... they want your business! I'm sure if you had called and told the staff of Social Circle Veterinary Hospital that you had a budget, or really didn't need to see a veterinarian, you would have had no office visit. That is what's called a "Tech Chart", wherein a technician takes your pet back, draws the blood for a heart worm test, and runs the pet by a veterinarian to administer the Rabies vaccine. I've worked for many veterinary clinic and this is the standard protocol. As for heartworm testing, it is required, by law, that all dogs get tested every 12 months prior to administration of heartworm preventative. If a dog does not have a negative heartworm text on file at the clinic you are visiting, it is customary that a staff member would call your previous vet to get a verbal confirmation that the pet was negative on its heartworm test, followed up with a fax of that documentation. As for nail trims, I've never seen a vet not charge for one except in the very rare case that just a nail or two needed to be clipped. Cut ALL veterinary staff, veterinarians and technicians a break, many of them school longer than physicians and nurses, run the risk of being bitten, scratched, or otherwise injured on a daily basis, let alone have to deal with people who neglect their pets and then bring them in on death's door.
