If you love your pet, DO NOT take them to any Banfield location.  After a simple teeth cleaning, my dog wound up in an animal hospital for 3 days.  The vet at the animal hospital felt that he received a toxic dose of anesthesia causing him to vomit, have bloody diarrhea and become severely dehydrated.  Without sharing the complete story of my encounter with Banfield (very lengthy and very disturbing), I can only ask that you read every single website and article you can find about Banfield and know that these are not just people who have an agenda, are vindictive, or have an axe to grind. They are incompetent and a rip off $$.If there was a clinic that treated humans the way Banfield treats pets, it would be under investigation and ultimately closed down.  Why isn't anything happening to Banfield? Every Banfield Pet Hospital should be shut down and the doors locked!! Read and educate yourself, I wish I had and I feel guilty for that. Read Less

Brought in a wild baby bunny that had been attacked by a cat. The baby bunny was in pretty bad shape and needed help. I had tried all day to get in contact with wild life rehabilitators, but no one was answering/returning my call. Local vets wouldn't accept the bunny cause it was considered an "exotic" bunny. I figured I always had good experiences at this location before, so I decided to just bring it in. The veterinarian refused to even see the baby bunny. I told them if you do not help him, it will die. They said that they don't look at bunnies and it's an "exotic." I told them this was my last shot for finding a place cause I tried everywhere. They still refused. I then asked what I should do because no one would help me with the injured baby bunny. Was I just suppose to let it suffer and die? One of the so called "pet nurses" blankly stared and said just try another local place. I told her I've tried the local area. Then finally with an attitude she shoved me two brochures without even looking at where/what they were. We left with no help at all. Sadly on the way home, the baby bunny died 10 minutes from home. Not one person looked at him there. If they had assessed him and determined he was beyond fixing, I would have gladly accepted euthanization to end his poor suffering. But instead, it died suffering in the back seat. Shame on the person who calls himself a veterinarian. Aren't you suppose to help animals? I understand you don't deal with exotics or bunnies, but surely you could have given me some advice on what to do until I found help. And for the brown, curly haired woman with the crooked nose- shame on you for being rude and heartless. Do not recommend this place. My dog has a skin lesion on her that I thought was a hot spot but it was not getting better with hot spot spray. The initial visit experience was good, they took a culture of the lesion and gave oral antibiotics and a topical anti fungal. However, I was told I would get a phone call with the culture results in 10 days and I never did. I called at the 14 day mark and was told I would get a call back. I didn't hear anything back so after another few days I called again and no return call. I finally called again and I asked very frustrated by this point because the skin lesion is no better and I have spent over $120, and was told the culture results were negative and we could try a steroid spray. I go in to pick it up and it's the same spray they have already prescribed to me that DIDNT WORK. Then they tried to give me a different medication that was going to cost $60. Basically I think there needs major improvement in patient care, I work in the medical field and if I ever treated one of my patients like this there would be major repercussions. Don't waste your time or money if you want answers. Read Less

Called with a bit of an emergency at 3pm today (a Sunday)--my puppy had horrible diarrhea that was getting worse in reaction (I think) to heartworm medication. They call themselves a "hospital," so I assumed a puppy in distress would be seen. She asked if I was a current customer. I said no, so she said she would check with the doctor to see if we could be seen.Hold music. She came back on the line... No, sorry, we have too many healthy dogs that are CURRENT CUSTOMERS OF BANFIELD with appointments booked at our hospital and therefore they would be unable to see us with our non-Banfield customer emergency. I asked if there was another place I could take him so late on a Sunday and they replied, "I'm sure there are, but we don't recommend other places." Thanks for nothing! My snark got the better of me and I said, "When he dies, I'll be sure to call and let you know." This woman actually replied with... "Okay great! Looking forward to it!" Nope. Not only will I not do business at a Banfield, PetSmart is off my list permanently. Girl Bye! Read Less

HORRIFIC! MY DOG HAD MANGE AND THE DR. JUST SAID SHE NEEDED A BATH! My wife and I have had animals insured at this Banfield location for many years. We've seen Dr. Asinga, among other really good vets, come and go but he was the best. Now, we're looking for an alternative. DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE. A couple of months ago my wife took three of our dogs in to get their check-ups. My first clue was that the "Optimum Wellness Plan Comprehensive Exam Report" showed all dogs weighing exactly what they did at their last exam which I knew was off because I'd had one dog on a diet and the puppy had grown considerably. We were concerned with the puppies' "skin condition" as well. The Dr. simply stated that she needed a bath. Well, we take very good care of our animals and I thought that odd as well but she did smell. After a few regular baths (These are primarily indoor pets) the condition only seemed to worsen as did the odor. We did our own research on Google and.... SARCOPTIC MANGE!!!! Evidently, in this case, it's mostly a breed thing. We've since found and purchased the appropriate shampoo and the poor thing is looking and feeling (and smelling) much better, NO THANKS to Banfield and their ineptitude! Many years of loyalty to this pet hospital. Many great employees came and went. We moved nearly an hour away about 9 years ago but stayed with the John's Creek Banfield and this is how our loyalty is rewarded. An easily recognized disease brushed off as the need for a bath because the vet couldn't be bothered to do his job on a busy day. I will continue to write this post regularly so all can see. PetSmart, I'm done with you. Banfield Pet Hospital, you should be deeply ashamed of yourselves. I will be persuing compensation. Read Less

Our doodles, Odin and Ellie have been going here for several years now, but we are seeing a definite decline in service quality recently. The rotating vets are a pain, it's somebody different every time you make an appointment. Our last visit was for a follow up blood test and after a week with no phone call, we checked and were told they never sent the blood work off to the lab!  Not sure what happened but we had to come back for them to redraw blood. Hope it's not something serious with our dog because it's taking two weeks just to get a lab report. Actually haven't heard back yet, so it may be longer. Read Less

This hospital is TERRIBLE. The vets "seem" nice, but are very forgetful. They have forgotten to tell or give me something every single visit. What really ticked me off was when my kitten got spayed and they had a crack in there tube they put in my kitten during procedure. She had air bubbles filled under her skin and you could definitely feel and hear them. . Also the lady at the front desk was horrible. After I picked my baby up after her surgery, they forgot to give me an e-cone. I am a completely new pet owner and picked this kitty up from the street. Because I was not very experienced in cats, I asked both the nurse and front lady what I needed to be careful and cautious about. They both told me not to let her run and that was all. I pushed through traffic for an hour with my baby in my lap and finally got home. However, she kept licking her surgery incision and with common sense I knew she shouldn't be allowed to do that. I called in and asked if she should be allowed to do that and the front lady told me to hold. 5 minutes of waiting on the phone, she told me to get back with my cat immediately to get an e-cone they forgot to give me. ARE YOU SERIOUS? So i drove back for another 30 min, drove back home for another hour. my baby was in the car for more than 2 hours and she just had surgery. What really pissed me off was the front lady was not sorry one bit and rather gave me an attitude. I remember her snickering while taking my kitty back and I am afraid she might've hurt her just in spite.  My kitten is very prone to stress and I am afraid her stress level is at its max. She has had diarrhea 5 times today and when I called the vet, they told me it is from stress and my cat will be fine and I know she is not. She is hunched up in pain and will not eat anything. This hospital is terrible and nobody should have to go through what me and my kitten are going through right now. Read Less

I adopted two kittens from this PetsMart location, and they got sick in 2 weeks. So, I called Banfield in this location around 5pm on Wednesday the August 8, 2012 and explained the girl/lady on the phone about the sickness. She said I have to bring them in. So, I asked her do I need an appointment. She said "no, we take walk-ins". So, I went there at 7:30pm (because the website says it open until 9pm) along with the kittens. Once lady came out and said "can I help you?" I told her I called in earlier and it seems like my kittens are sick. All of sudden she is asking me "Do you have an appointment?". I said I called in for that and the lady who answered the call said I don't need an appointment.. Then she is like I do not know who told you that but we need an appointment... bla... bla.. bla.. I was so mad on her and this first experience with Banfield, I just took my kittens back home. I then spoke to several people and all of them suggested to stay away from the Banfield. They just suck! (The 5 stars that I gave is for the Banfield in Johns Creek, not for the one in Duluth; the Duluth branch does not deserve any star at all!!!!!)Yes, I totally agree with you regarding the terrible service at Duluth Banfield branch. I do know the office manager, and, it's not a surprise at all that she gave you that kind of response. She's been that way with me as well for the last few years, and, I don't know how I stood with her so far. I'm so glad that I moved to a different branch now (near Johns Creek off the peachtree parkway). I just wanted to clarify that not all Banfield is like that. I've been moving state to state, and, I always enjoyed the benefit of Wellness plan, and, the terrific service and kindness offered by my vets and their staff at Banfield. The one in Duluth, that you're complaning about, is just terrible. They should not be in business, and, they are putting shame on the entire Banfield. I am going to contact the corporate as well just to let them know how different they are from other Banfield that I've known of in terms of services and their sincerity caring for our pets. They're too much money-oriented. They always try to sell one more medication/procedures when my pets are perfectly healthy. My previous vets at other Banfields never did this to us. I've never been this disgusted by any kind of service before in my life. Again, my review is about Banfield in Duluth, not the one in Johns Creek. I've had a great experience with them so far. I took my dog in to the Banfield off Venture Drive for his follow up check-up 10 days after he got neutered. It was a drop off appointment so I got there early so that I would be the first one in. When I walked in the lights in Banfield were off and I soon realized that no one was there. After waiting for about 5 minutes someone finally walked in. I checked my dog in and signed all of the necessary forms and waivers - including the one that gives them permission to walk my dog while he is there. I then went on to work (this was around 7:10am). At around 2 pm, I hadn't heard back from Banfield about the status of the check up so I decided to call them. They said he was fine and that he was ready to be picked up after 5pm.When I got off work, I quickly went to Banfield to pick my dog up. It took them 15 minutes to bring him up to the front - even though the girl at the front desk notified them that I was there to pick him up as soon as I got there. I grabbed my dog and proceeded to walk to the car. When we got outside my dog urinated for a long time but I thought nothing of it. In the car on the way home my dog pooped in the back seat of my car. I quickly rushed home and called Banfield and asked them if they had walked my dog. The girl who answered the phone stated that they did not get a chance to walk him because they were short staffed. I then asked her why I wasn't informed of this (because had I known we would have stayed outside long enough for him to poop). She then said that they had a policy blah blah blah...I then asked her how they would compensate me for this (by possibly paying to get my interior detailed). She told me that she would speak to her office manager and she would get back to me.I waited the next day and did not hear back from the office manager so I decided to call them. When I called the office manager told me that since half of the responsibility was mine, they would only pay for half of the detail. I told her that they did not walk my dog and failed to notify me of this and therefore they were at fault. When I realized that I was going nowwhere with her, I decided to call their corporate office and file a complaint that way.I am supposed to hear back from them within 3 - 5 days when the claim gets investigated. They have that time to get their minds right before I really get upset. I would recommend taking your pet to a small, private vet where you are treated with respect.p.s. I also have Banfield's pet insurance which I will be cancelling if they do not get this issue corrected. Read Less

Our puppy is on the Wellness Program at the Banfield in Johns Creek. Before getting our puppy, I visited the other two Banfield clinics in our area (Alpharetta and Cumming). The one in Johns Creek is by far the best--more clean and a friendly staff of pet lovers. We have had a pleasant experience there with the exception of the veterinarians being unable to diagnose a  problem our dog had. When I got home and searched for the problem online I found tons of pictures and descriptions of EXACTLY what my dog was suffering from. Apparently it was a common dog problem so I'm still a bit disappointed the veterinarian didn't know what was wrong. I'm glad I didn't let her convince me into taking the unnecessary (and expensive) x-rays she wanted. BUT, my dog healed fine and like I said, our overall experience with this Banfield has been very pleasant. The staff (especially Angela) is really nice and remember my dog when we come in. They usually even call the next day to follow up with the condition of our dog. I would recommend this Banfield location and their puppy wellness program only IF you plan to have your dog spayed or neutered. Read Less

Read Less

I don't know why there had been so much turnover in vet staff (in Drs. in particular, less so in assistants and support staff) but overall I like this Banfield location a lot.  They are very busy yet stay on top of all the care they provided. They are so attentive and loving to all the cats and dogs they see.   They are especially careful with my 15 yr old pug.  And I must shout out to Dr Neal - love him, love his careful, thorough communications and trust him so much.

Read Less

I don't know what's taken me so long to share my love of Banfield --Johns Creek-- with the rest of you Yelpers!!! We've been taking our three dogs to them for eight years and have NEVER had any experience except outstanding. They go above and beyond every time. They saved my 15 year old Chihuahua from the brink of death; they kept her for a couple of days and flushed her kidneys ... AND ... she's fine now!!! (She'd been taking too much Lasix prescribed by the Georgia Veterinary Hospital). Lee, the office manager, and every doctor and staff member there are like family. Please do not waste your money on the Banfield in Duluth. Read Less

Read Less
