I was visiting in Thomasville with a dog who had just been diagnosed with bone cancer that day in Tallahassee and had had a biopsy. The dog was in severe pain that night, and needed additional pain relief. My last dog had the very same level of pain and anguish the night that she died of bone cancer (a common cause of death in greyhounds), so I was determined to immediately stop the suffering. After not being able to get through to C-M-H Veterinary I called the only other one in town, Thomasville Animal Hospital. My call was returned quickly. However the woman told me that they would not help me. Why? Because precisely because the dog had cancer and they had not previously seen the dog. She would not explain further. I begged. I told her that if it is a liability matter, I would sign a waiver. I also told her that I had my Atlanta vet on the other line and that she would call and discuss with her. It didnt matter. She refused to help my suffering and dying dog. My vet was shocked, and said there was no reason that Thomasville Animal Hospital should not have helped. So we had to drive back to Tallahassee at midnight to get pain relief. Since there was not a vet in Thomasville that I could trust helping my dog if it needed it, we scrapped the Christmas visit and returned to Atlanta. My dog was put to sleep several days later.Read Less
