I happened upon Southwood through a CCAA person. I took my dog there for a nail trim & they were wonderful with him. He's a big boy but doesn't like you to mess with his toes...lol... I have mixed feelings. I lost my baby here. To be fair she had been in last few years for infections. However each time shed leave with something new. I cant blame the vet. But it was strange and made it difficult. I miss my baby girl. Read Less

The lady vet we had was really kind, and the young man receptionist was equally so. The woman receptionist - not so much! We are low income right now (my son is ill, so I had to quit my job to stay home with him), and although the vet was compassionate and helpful, when I called with an emergency for my suffering cat (who was literally screaming in pain), the woman who answered the phone told me that they're trying to sell the business, and they don't need to show any debt on their books (as I had asked if they could see him and bill me). On one other occasion, the vet came in on an emergency for one of my babies on a holiday weekend, and took care of business. Perhaps you just need to make sure your front line is a little more consistent and empathetic. Read Less

This place is mediocre. Waiting area is small, but I get not every place can have a grand ballroom waiting area. But that's besides the point... I feel like they were a bit flippant last time I was there. My dog was chewing himself til he bled. They told me he had a staph infection (of which they did not treat him for) and that he'd have skin allergies all his life. Then suggested I come in every six weeks for a $126 shot. I'm naturally skeptical and dubious so did some research of my own. I switched him to grain free food and he's markedly better. Granted, he still has some issues such as an interdigital cyst and pyoderma, but I didn't have to get bent over for no reason. My point is, they didn't even make the food a suggestion nor ask about it. So I'm changing veterinarians. Read Less

Very satisfied with the care we have received! I have dogs and cats who all have different ailments from vaccination allergic reactions, to thyroid disorders. They even caught an issue with one of my cats that NUMEROUS other vets have not caught, an issue that has been going on at least 8y that others called anxiety! Will have it when we PCS and have to leave!Read Less

I love this place! They helped my cat after he had been declawed because the first hospital I took him to was horrible. The first hospital refused to give me pain killers & clipped his pads. Southwood, gave me the medicine & antibiotics I needed for him to recover & today he's happy & still going! I recommend this place to anyone! Read Less

A great little Vet clinic with warm and friendly staff. What they lack in curb appeal they make up with great people. I have lived in this area for 6 months and have 2 dogs. one is constantly needing vet care due to allergies. the other is an old small dog that's rarely ever been sick until I moved to this area. I needed to find a vet to care for the dogs and I thought I had found one. my older dog started acting distressed with neck extended and breathing hard and kind of hunched up. I took him here and the vet diagnosed him with a back injury and a heart murmur( that I know he didn't have before) and with heart worms and bad teeth and gave him some pain medication.  I was under the impression that all was well so we went back him for Christmas.  a day later I had to take him back to a vet I had used for a long time who said that his condition was life threatening and that the previous vet should have caught it before. so now he is at my old vets going on 2 weeks now being treated for heart problems and heart worms. I contacted southwood and all the doctor said was that he was sorry but the dog was it showing anymore symptoms at the time to indicate heart problems.  long story short if you move into an area find a vet you can trust and don't just depend on them to tell you what's going on educate yourself too so that you can tell if something is going wrong. Love the folks at Southwood Animal Hospital! They seem to really care about the animals that come into their facility. There is no horrible smell when you walk in the door, which I really appreciate and it seems very clean. I was especially grateful when I had to bring my kitten in to be euthanized after he was found to have a fatal illness. They were kind and compassionate, giving me the time I needed to be ready for his final moments. It was extremely difficult, but I was able to hold him during the process and I am grateful. Recently felt like I needed to change vets. My dog has a chronic urinary disease. This vet has tons of modern equipment that a lot of places don't. She was very affordable and very helpful. She helped my dog in one visit when my other vet kept him for days and charged an arm and a leg. I am so glad I took him there. The vet was a blessing. Read Less

Southwood takes incredible care of my pets. Not only are they there when I need them, they are also affordable where I am not struggling to support myself AND my pets. There is usually a long wait, but it's worth it. Also, Nanette makes Southwood, Southwood. Everyone loves her!Read Less

We have been using Southwood for 8 years. We love the techs and the vets there. When we had emergencies they were always fantastic, especially when we lost one of our dogs. At one point we had 2 dogs hospitalized from illness and they were great at doing courtesy calls and working with us on the bill. Read Less

You've gotta love a vet office that has its' own pets roaming around the building. There was the one cat that had crossed eyes and another one that had only 3 legs. It was more like a shelter home than anything else. The vets there were awesome in coming in after their hours to take a look at the dog I brought in that had cut it's eye. They took good care of him and he was wagging his tail and ready to go for another car ride shortly thereafter. Read Less
