I can not say enuff good things about about Dr Jacobs. He is informative, professional, down to earth and compassionate He explains things in detail u never feel rushed. His staff is courteous kind and caring. He figured out quickly that our duchess didn't hv heart disease but has lung disease. I wud feel confident to recommend him to anyone. It is obvious that he truly cares n genuinely enjoys what he does. He is a blessing to pets and their owners

Woodlands is a fantastic place to take your furbabies.. They are compassionate and Truly experts in the field of cardiology. The first time i went to visit Dr Jacobs.. he was able to explain my Lolli's heart disease in a way that i fully understood exactly what was going on inside of her. This was so helpful. I also had to pleasure was seeing Dr Barker who is also an incredible Dr I feel my lolli got the care she needed in her final months and that this team of Doctors did everything possible to give me more time with her. i am indebted and thankful this entire staff.

I took my 10-yr-old Chocolate Lab, Sally, in to see Dr. Jacobs (cardiologist) to see if she had any signs of Tricuspid Valve Displaysia as her brother was diagnosed with it. I was anticipating her having an ultrasound done as part of the exam. Dr. Jacobs gave Sally a thorough examination, but said he saw or heard nothing that would cause any alarm. Everything was perfectly normal and said the ultrasound was not really necessary. I so appreciated his candor and honesty with me. No need for my dog to undergo any tests or procedures if not necessary. Obviously, Dr. Jacobs is not only a wonderful clinician, but also a very fine person who had only Sally's best interests as his priority. I'd trust Dr. Jacobs with any of my dogs anytime.

My 4 y/o foster kitty, a Flame-point Siamese with severe stomatitis (gingivitis), needed her teeth out early 2016, but on exam, my Vet heard a heart murmur. An Ultrasound done by an Atlanta radiologist found a "strange" appearing condition and I was referred to Woodlands Veterinary. We were so fortunate to be seen here and Dr. Jacobs and the tech staff were just wonderful; so caring and kind to Buttercup. On Ultrasound, Dr. Jacobs (who is a professor at UGA Veterinary program and a true expert), found fibrous tissue running through the left ventricle - a condition he said he'd actually never seen in person before). We are so grateful to have such experts at our disposal. Buttercup and I HIGHLY recommend Woodlands Veterinary Referral for any internal med or cardiology needs your beloved pet may have!

I have a King Charles called Astro who has a whole bunch of issues going on. We have just moved here from Miami so trying to find the right vet specialist is important. On a recommendation from Mars Hill Animal Hospital we took Astro to see Dr Barker. I was impressed the second I walk through the door and the Dr and staff are truly amazing ladies. They made Astro feel at ease straight away as he can be very demanding for hugs and cuddles. Due to his deafness can be very loud vocally as well. However the team from WFR are the best and made our visit a pleasure. Thanks again.

All I can say about Woodlands is WOW WOW, if our Medical Doctors would spend half the time as Dr. Barker and staff did with me Going over everything about Bella and I mean all of it, it might be enjoyable going to see our Doctors. She was very enjoyable to talk to, she and her staff took very good,( I have to say),GREAT care with Bella. Dr Barker explained everything to me as she was doing the examine. Just a great place to take you 4 legged fur babies, thank you for all you did.

She takes time to explain things fully and explains diagnosis and courses of treatments and outlines your options. Everyone does a great job!

I am a small animal veterinarian just outside of Athens and refer clients to Dr. Barker and Dr. Jacobs regularly. Recently, I had to bring one of my personal pets to Dr. Barker after she had a cardiac crisis. I stabilized her the evening of the event, but after two days, she was weak and lifeless. I was about to bring her to UGA CVM, but they suggested I try to get Dr. Barker to scan her for comparison since she had been there just two months before. Her staff worked me in within a couple of hours. They were all very compassionate and concerned for Starry's well being. Dr. Barker was efficient and thorough and searched for every possible cause of my girl's condition. She found the culprit, prescribed new medicine. I gave one dose and before we got home that evening, Starry jumped out of the car and ran up the steps to the house. She is back to normal and maybe even a little better. Bottom line, Dr. Barker and her staff saved my dog and they absolutely rock!!!!!

I have now taken 6 animals to see Dr. Barker (and/or Dr. Jacobs) and staff for referral services over the last several years. We have always been extremely satisfied with the expertise, professionalism, and service, especially follow-up service. We have done ultrasounds 3 dogs and 3 cats, and an endoscope on a cat (as a follow-up to the ultrasound). They put everything in writing for us so it is clear on what we have to do and also work with our normal vet so that they know what is going on as well. They also are very sensitive to the fact that we are 90 minutes away and have to take off work to see them, and try to do as much for us as possible in a single visit. We have been to other referral vets as well, and feel confident that we are getting the best advice from Woodlands, as we have not had positive experiences from other referral vets.

My sick dog was scheduled for one their outpatient ultrasounds at $250. Already expensive a single mom who is in school. When we arrived, I requested to speak to the vet prior to having my dog taken from me and was informed that was not standard procedure for outpatient ultrasounds. No contact is had between client and vet, all contact is between the referring vet and the vet that does the ultrasound. But she would check with the vet and see. She came back several minutes later and informed me could not meet the vet. I told her that was unacceptable and was then told I could come back the following day and pay double for a full consultation and I could meet the vet then. I repeatedly told this staff member and another who had gotten involved that i did not want a consultation, that I only wanted Dr. Barker to stick her head in the door so I would know who was putting their hands on my sick dog who could not wait until tomorrow. You are asked to blindly trust an unlicensed assistant to care for your sick pet and in an unseen vet to do procedure in a clinic you are unfamiliar with. I bluntly told them this is a very sketchy business practice. I am a registered veterinary technician (RVT) myself and have been in the industry long enough to know that this is bad business. My pet's regular vet called and spoke with Dr. Barker regarding this matter and apparently Dr. Barker felt really bad about it but said that her staff are sticklers to protect schedule. Well, my dog may need further procedures but they will not be done at Dr. Barker's clinic so she can thank her strict staff for losing that business for her. But I'm sure keeping to the schedule was more important than taking 30 seconds to prove that the vet was in fact on the premises (rather than give me the run around for 15 minutes) and securing my future business. I've never found myself so disgusted by a clinic's business practices before and I've seen some questionable stuffed in my career as an RVT.

Recently, I had to bring one of my personal pets to Dr. Barker after she had a cardiac crisis. I stabilized her the evening of the event, but after two days, she was weak and lifeless. I was about to bring her to UGA CVM, but they suggested I try to get Dr. Barker to scan her for comparison since she had been there just two months before. Her staff worked me in within a couple of hours. They were all very compassionate and concerned for Starry's well being. Dr. Barker was efficient and thorough and searched for every possible cause of my girl's condition. She found the culprit, prescribed new medicine. I gave one dose and before we got home that evening, Starry jumped out of the car and ran up the steps to the house. She is back to normal and maybe even a little better. Bottom line, Dr. Barker and her staff saved my dog and they absolutely rock!!!!!

I have now taken 6 animals to see Dr. Barker (and/or Dr. Jacobs) and staff for referral services over the last several years. We have always been extremely satisfied with the expertise, professionalism, and service, especially follow-up service. We have done ultrasounds 3 dogs and 3 cats, and an endoscope on a cat (as a follow-up to the ultrasound). They put everything in writing for us so it is clear on what we have to do and also work with our normal vet so that they know what is going on as well. They also are very sensitive to the fact that we are 90 minutes away and have to take off work to see them, and try to do as much for us as possible in a single visit. We have been to other referral vets as well, and feel confident that we are getting the best advice from Woodlands, as we have not had positive experiences from other referral vets.

My sick dog was scheduled for one their outpatient ultrasounds at $250. Already expensive a single mom who is in school. When we arrived, I requested to speak to the vet prior to having my dog taken from me and was informed that was not standard procedure for outpatient ultrasounds. No contact is had between client and vet, all contact is between the referring vet and the vet that does the ultrasound. But she would check with the vet and see. She came back several minutes later and informed me could not meet the vet. I told her that was unacceptable and was then told I could come back the following day and pay double for a full consultation and I could meet the vet then. I repeatedly told this staff member and another who had gotten involved that i did not want a consultation, that I only wanted Dr. Barker to stick her head in the door so I would know who was putting their hands on my sick dog who could not wait until tomorrow. You are asked to blindly trust an unlicensed assistant to care for your sick pet and in an unseen vet to do procedure in a clinic you are unfamiliar with. I bluntly told them this is a very sketchy business practice. I am a registered veterinary technician (RVT) myself and have been in the industry long enough to know that this is bad business. My pet's regular vet called and spoke with Dr. Barker regarding this matter and apparently Dr. Barker felt really bad about it but said that her staff are sticklers to protect schedule. Well, my dog may need further procedures but they will not be done at Dr. Barker's clinic so she can thank her strict staff for losing that business for her. But I'm sure keeping to the schedule was more important than taking 30 seconds to prove that the vet was in fact on the premises (rather than give me the run around for 15 minutes) and securing my future business. I've never found myself so disgusted by a clinic's business practices before and I've seen some questionable stuffed in my career as an RVT.
