Excellent care and bed side manner.  Dr. Gulliver is great!  He discussed all issues and potential issues with the per owner. I'll never go to VCA ever!  VCA is a rip off. Our dog Joy had severe case of Struvite Bladder Stones. Just in time we took Joy to meet Dr. Gulliver upon referral by our cousin and Thank Goodness we did. He was very thorough in discussing Joy's condition and he took time to explain all of the different types of stones that dog's develop and we felt that his compassion for our Pets is so genuine. Unprofessional, he signed my dogs papers without having his license update, USDA called him to tell him he wasn't allowed to sign those papers and he never called me back. Thank to USDA in sacramento knew my issue and they contacted me personally and told me that my dogs cant travel because this doctor doesn't have the license and he did not update it during the weekend, he did not wanted to give the money back untill my husband went there and ask for it. I had to do all paperwork in starbucks because the lady in the front desk did not know how to do it. The clinic is dirty if u look arround is full of dust and the tools they use are old and rusty. Two seizures in one day prompted me to start making phone calls for the next available appointment.  It was 1:45 p.m. Wednesday and many Vet clinics were closed in the Kalihi area. I was looking for anyone open near JBPHH and found Dr. Gulliver's office was still open so I called to make the appointment. The Receptionist was absolutely cordial and accommodated our Toy Poodle the same day! She gave me three options and I booked the earliest available. When my husband and I got there, we were greeted right away and registered within 15 minutes. There were two patients ahead of us and and Dr. Gulliver seemed like he gave each of his patients the time necessary to assess and treat. I didn't know what to expect, initially I thought he may treat his return patients with more attentiveness than new patients but that wasn't the case.  Once it was our dog's turn to be seen, he asked many questions and in turn answered all our questions. I felt like he cared about our dog's health status. He explained the diagnostic options and costs which helped us determine our starting point. We never felt pressured or coaxed into spending a lot of money. Treatment can sometimes be very expensive but we walked out very informed and satisfied with the treatment and fees. He prescribed meds and labs should be in less than 48 hours. He will be our go-to Veterinarian for as long as we're in Oahu! Great job Dr. Gulliver and Team! Read Less

We moved to Hawaii because we are a military family. I had a friend who recommended Dr Gulliver. Both him and his nurses are really wonderful. I have two dogs.Both needed shots and one needed surgery to remove a mast cell tumor.  This doctor loves animals. He's very elaborate, and he wont try to make you do anything to your dog or spend too much money if it's not necessary.  I really would recommend this doctor. The only thing about his office is that it is really small and it might take a while to see him because he does talk a lot with his patients about their pet. But that's a good thing because when he sees you, it is all about you and your pet no matter how many people are waiting in the lobby. I will miss going to see him as we have moved back to the mainland. Read Less

Dr. G was the vet I went to for a second opinion as another vet was completely rough with my cat and didn't speak English well.  He was kind, took SO much time with me.  The office staff was super friendly and I think I saw at least 4 different ladies on the two occasions we visited the office.  My cat was super sick and ended up needing to be put down.  Dr. G spent time talking with me and consoling me.  He even hugged me after when I was outside crying.  He is very thorough and explains everything in detail.  I would definitely recommend this vet! DO NOT GO HERE! They will bait and switch prices. I brought my two dogs in for yearly vaccines and called ahead to get prices. When it came to checkout it was over $100 more than they quoted me! I argued but they just said sorry you have to pay it. When I switched vets and handed over the vaccination records the new vet actually called me at home to say I was vastly overcharged for vaccines. I want to share my experience and hope it helps you make the best decision for your pets. Two things that I want to mention and wish I could give this business a big 0. The first is I have been going to Leeward Pets for over a year with three dogs and the foul smell of feces in the whole office area never changes , second the  poor  customer service buy receptionist that I will call J for the whole time that I tolerated because of the Dr. G but he turned out to be just as bad. I was going to have my dog neutered and my wife was called the day before and told what to do the day of the procedure she was also told that he would have to stay over night to  be watched and checked in the morning she asked if someone was going to watch him all night and found out that no one would be in the office for a minimum of ten hours. I arrived the next morning and spoke to J that I wanted to take him home as no one would watch him and she became loud, crude and verbally abusive towards my wife and I so I put her in check and she calmed down enough to tell me " wait I come back" at no time did she call the Dr.or did he intervene. I  was then told that if I signed a paper accepting full responsibility I could take him home and so I did. I returned in the afternoon and the bill was higher than I was quoted when I asked j about it she said " look at the paper everything is itemized I did not want to deal with her attitude so paid the bill and my intent was to speak to Dr. G and express my discontentment with the bill and J's attitude. I called on monday J picked up the phone and interrogates me as to why I wanted to talk to Dr. G I said it was  personal in  nature she said " fine I have him call you back".I can only assume that she spoke to Dr. G and told him her view of what went on because only after three days I get a call from the office not J someone else and told that Dr. G said because of how I acted I would have to find a different Vet as he would no longer provide service. I have never dealt with anyone who would not listen to both sides of the story to make such a decision or understand that I am a paying customer and should have been given that respect. I gladly will find a more professional run business and one that put the customer first and not make decisions on one person's account of what happen. I want to point out if you read all the low star reviews on yelp that people took time  to mention it is always about this receptionist J and it is obvious that the Dr. will side with her at the customer's expense. I have nothing but good things to say about Dr Gulliver and his staff. They treat me and my dogs like family and Dr takes the time to ensure everyone is healthy from head to toe. The prices are very reasonable and Dr explains things as he examines.  I had an emergency situation that required My dog to get squeezed into the schedule so he could catch a plane, and Jamie made it happen!  Love you guys and I'll miss you all as we head to Japan, but I'll be back for sure! The staff at this location is fairly friendly, and my experience with the doctor was very informative. This veterinarian is not an advocate of raw dog food which has been seen as a very beneficial diet. Then there was the cleanliness of the clinic unfortunately the clinic reeked of urine. I was told by the doctor that he had just seen a very excited pet, this however was the same smell when I returned several days later. If a vet cannot keep their clinic clean how am i to trust them. If they do not clean, how am I to not think that a previous sick animal visiting their establishment could not infect my puppy. A vet should keep its facility as clean as a human hospital as we expect the same level of cleanliness for our pets. I will not take my pet to a place that has complete disregard for spreading disease. Read Less

Two of my dogs died in two months n when i called saying my dog is sick n has labor breathing not eating, n has white gums they told me they can squeeze me in 5 hours later. When i got to the vet i had to carry my dog in becuz he couldnt walk and still they made me wait till the other customer was finish! If my dog is fckn sick take my dog in and check him out not fckn tell me wait. After we waited for 10 mins my dog passed away while trying to walk right in the middle of the waiting room. VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE AT LEEWARD PET CLINICI should preface my bad experience at Leeward Pet Clinic with Debbie only who works at the front desk and not the clinic as a whole because I am not a client there.  We adopted a dog who previously went to Dr. Gulliver and needed to obtain his medical records as a request from the pet insurance company for enrollment.  Being realistic about the situation, I completely understood that pet medical records are confidential but we were having some issues trying to get the records released from the previous owner.   Trying to find a solution, I took the signed Bill of Sale down to Debbie showing that the dog was now legally ours but she said the records still need to be released by the previous owner and also said they would try to contact the owner as well.  A week later, we were taking the dog to our vet so I called Leeward Pet Clinic to see if I could possibly get an idea of what vaccinations the dog already had so we would not over vaccinate.  I talked to Jamie and she was really nice and very helpful and was able to pass on vaccinations and dates.Three weeks later, we finally got noticed that we could pick up the vet records for our insurance company.  Upon my visit, Debbie was already perturb that I was there and seemed like she was trying to find things to do in order to keep me waiting (given the fact that there were no customers in the office).   For some reason, she was already irate about the situation and starting telling (and then yelling at) me that they "COULD NOT GIVE OUT MEDICAL RECORDS WITHOUT THE OWNERS CONSENT!"   Debbie further told me that I was ALWAYS a problem and that I was ALWAYS rude to her and Jaime (the girl who was nice and helpful to me).   Debbie had the attitude that since I was not a client there and spending money; it was a waste of time trying to help me.  Then she pulled out 4 pieces of paper with just shot dates and a few notes, threw it on the counter and told me it would be $8.00.  I was baffled & frustrated by this point and asked her  "really $8.00 for sticking 4 pieces of paper in a copier?"  Based on principal, I told her I could just take pictures and send the digital copy to the insurance company.  She continued yelling and told me I could not get the records and to "GET THE HELL OUT OF THE OFFICE - I AM NOT GOING TO HELP YOU".  She started walking to the back (turned around) grab the vet records and threw them at me.Luckily I caught Dr. Gulliver as I was leaving the office and told him what had happened.  It is unfortunate that one bad seed can ruin a reputation of a small vet clinic such as Leeward Pet Clinic.  I would NEVER take our dogs or cats there -  there is no accountability and if you get on Debbie's bad side your animal will be doomed.   BTW:  I went to our vet across the street VCA Family Animal Hospital to add the records to the file and the first thing they asked is "would you like a copy for your records".  180 difference in customer service and professionalism. (some which included feeding him cardboard infused dog food....) We had our dog's eye growth removed here but we will never use the services again. Little did we know, we would be taking a puppy home as a souvenir on our vacation. But we were star struck when we met Hokulele and her litter mates. We checked all of the requirements to bring a dog back with us to the mainland, and it was all quite simple. A routine check-up and doctor's certificate was all we needed. After receiving a personal referral, we visited Dr. Gulliver at his Leeward Pet Clinic in Aiea.The Doc walked us through the exam, briefly discussed some precautions we should take with a new puppy (heartworm, Parvo, spaying) and sent us on our way with a health certificate.He was congenial, thorough and had a great rapport with little Hokulele during our short visit.Thanks Doc and everyone at the Leeward Pet Clinic!
