Took my new  (Yuna) here as an 8 week old puppy. The staff were very nice and accommodating. I saw Dr choy who is a new Dr at this location but was very sweet and caring in the way that she looked over Yuna. They gave me some documents and information regarding care for Yuna. The BEST pet hospital in Hawaii!! Dr. Choy, she is so wonderful, an angel. I had to put my cat "Mochi" to sleep, he was in much pain. I can talk to animals, he asked me to take away the pain, tired. I asked Dr. Choy, a given difficult task to do and I trusted her from previous visits. Mochi purred away calmly to sleep, noticed a a tear from Choy. She did a job that was very difficult. Keep reading for some prices. Today, my mom brought Yuna (@yunathepapillon) in to get her health certificate and exam done so she can move to California with me. Everyone was nice and accommodating. I used to work at the Petco on S. Beretania and most of my grooming clients are clients here as well. My old coworkers also shower King Street Pet Hospital with praise. I decided to try them out after hearing a lot of praise for Dr. Nakamura. Eric was extremely helpful when I called in regards to prices though he did sound pretty abrupt. Upon entering and leaving the vet, Eric was super sweet to Yuna. Shots are a bit more on the pricier side here. Rabies is $36.50, DHHP (Distemper/Parvo) is $44.50, and Bordetella is $42.50. Exam cost is $44.50 and if you need a heath certificate to move or fly your dog, it's $45. At the low cost vet or other vets in the area, vaccines can be $25. What you don't always get at most places is the top notch care that really makes the experience for your pet. The newest addition to the King Street Pet Hospital is Dr. Choy. She worked on Yuna today and was very helpful and gentle with her despite my dog being not as cooperative. She gave us lots of advice and noted that Yuna is healthy! I highly recommend King Street Pet Hospital. I've been to other vets and had awful service. You may pay a bit more for shots, but their prices are definitely reasonable. Yuna was offered to get her heart worm test and that was $50. Most places I've called try to charge way more!!! Sometimes a whopping $120. They also had Yuna's Sentinel Flavor Tabs in stock. Several veterinarians don't carry it and it's a shame. The flavor tabs work as a heart worm preventative AND a flea and tick birth control. These are taken monthly and Yuna was negative for heartworms and doesn't have any flea or ticks. Topical treatments irritate her skin and are way more expensive. I believe 6 months' worth is about $50. Keep in mind it does not only flea and tick prevention, but parasite and heart worm prevention. I know in stores, flea and tick stuff alone can be $80 or so. If we ever move back to Hawaii, I'll be sure to take Yuna to King Street Pet Hospital!!! Pros- Able to get an appt within 1 day despite being busy- Open even on Sunday and later hours than most vets- Top notch service (thanks Eric and Dr. Choy! I've heard amazing things from my old coworker and client about Dr. Nakamura as well)- Competitive prices- Carries several heartworm options like Sentinel Flavor Tabs (I didn't have to wait for the prescription to come in - who doesn't love instant gratification?!)Cons- Shot prices are a little higher than I'm used to Read Less

My sister recently adopted a cat so I accompanied her to her cat's first vet appointment. I have pets of my own and have encountered some shady vets which is why I went with her. When you adopt a pet from the humane society you have a week to take your pet in for a free visit to their list of recommended vets. The first available time was past the one week mark but they were great and didn't charge for the checkup. The vet we met with (Dr. Katharine Matavao) was very awesome. If you live in town then I recommend you come her for vet visits. This place didn't try to push any unnecessary tests or try to scare us with some rare diseases and blah blah blah. I first started taking my Bichon boys to see Dr. Fujie in 1999 when he was still working at another pet hospital. When We heard he was opening his own practice on South King Street, even though it would be farther, following was a no brainer. Over the years Dr. Fujie took excellent care of my boys and there were a lot of them ... eighteen years as it happens. Through wellness checks and sicknesses, dental procedures  and one unfortunate bottle of Hershey's Chocolate Syrup he was always caring and knowledgeable taking the time to explain what was happening and making sure my boys and I were all comfortable with what was happening. I eventually lost both my boys to old age and even then Dr. Fujie and his staff were there with kindness and support. I still go to see Dr. Fujie and the team at KSPH but now it's my girls' turn. I have to say I have been to several vetinary offices on the island and all have varying price ranges also. You can't judge a vet on their prices because it doesn't mean they are the most experienced. I have to say this office is the best I have been to by far and the most reasonable. My cats where having major anxiety and everyone was calm in handling them which in turn helped them calm down for their visit.Read Less

Drs. Richard Fujie and Katie Nakamura and the staff at King Street Pet Hospital took excellent care of our cat Cinnamon, especially after she was diagnosed with lymphoma. They cared for her throughout her nearly 18 months of treatment, and grieved with us when she crossed the Rainbow Bridge a little more than a year ago. They've now bonded with and are providing superb care for our new fur-babies, Kashmir and Sophie. My first impression as I walked thru the doors is the office was very clean and smelled good! The front office staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The vet tech was thorough in getting info about my cat ("Star"). Then when Dr. Ganzer came thru the door to the tx room, he entered quietly (so as not to startle my pet). I took my dog to King Street Pet Hospital because I thought she was seriously ill and needed hospital services. Dr. Nakamura did blood work and imaging, but was unable to come up with a diagnosis. I was given some generic pills, charged $360 and sent home with my dog. I got the feeling that they were excited about getting a new customer, and saw the $360 as just the beginning. Within 24 hours of leaving King Street Pet Hospital, my dog suffered a hideous death on my kitchen floor, displaying all of the classic symptoms of rat poisoning. Diagnosis of an unfortunately common condition could have prevented much suffering of both animal and family. We were devastated by the outcome of our visit to King Street Pet Hospital.I would not recommend King Street Pet Hospital to anyone who cares about their pet or pocketbook. Read Less
