Kailua Pet Hospital

Kailua, Hawaii
General Info
The Kailua-based veterinary clinic known as the Kailua Pet Hospital offers a wide array of services that address the practical problems that dog, cat, and other companion pet owners encounter. The practice provides standard services such as wellness exams, vaccines, new patient visits, and diagnostics for slightly sick pets. Veterinarians analyze lifestyle and environmental factors, alongside the health background of a pet, to assess cases of fatigue, appetite changes, and skin irritation. This helps to determine whether treatment is needed or if observation would be an appropriate strategy. In addition to routine physical checkups and symptom evaluations, the hospital also offers dental care and laboratory diagnostic services. It gives management advice on issues like arthritis and digestive disorders. Pet owners also book appointments for spay neuter procedures, behavior consultations, and medication check-ins. The clinic’s method combines patient treatment with constant communication about future steps, potential side effects, and necessary follow-up. Hawaii residents statewide can schedule appointments, and many clients travel from more rural and suburban areas near Kailua. Efficient record keeping ensures that the pet’s history is clear irrespective of whether one visits a vet annually or monthly. The continuous use of the medicine for the conditions that change slowly or illnesses sensitive to seasons. Kailua Pet Hospital rotates its treatment methods seasonally according to regional trends in weather and activity patterns as well as environmental exposure levels. Pet owners in Kailua get insightful support which harmonizes with their lifestyle and expectations. Every decision that the clinic makes to implement care at the respective level is based on how it reads the patient history and family goals. The team provides specialized services such as Boarding, Dental Care, Emergency Care, Exotic Pet Care, and Homeopathy. Clients consistently commend the practice for its commitment and attentiveness to pets’ needs.

I recently took my old dog to have her teeth looked at. The front office staff asked me repeatedly if I wanted to vaccinate my dog. Even though I said no they kept asking me like perhaps I had changed my mind in the last minute. They also wanted to know if I wanted a heartworm check fecal check and on and on. My dog is very health and has been her whole life. I got the impression that Kailua Animal Clinic was more interested in these add on charges than the reason I brought her in. Be warned people and do your research. Are fecal checks and leptospirosis vaccine necessary in an older indoor dog? Read Less

I wrote a review on yelp, and I'm not a machine or a person looking to get anything out of it, it's just my opinion. The doctors here are awesome. They take their time with me and with all of the many other people I see coming and going. Their staff is all very nice, helpful and more than willing to help out. I have 6 animals and I try to know more about them than anyone else that way I can provide the vets with vital info that they need. My animals don't speak so it makes it hard to figure out what's wrong. They aren't god at kailua animal clinic, it would be impossible for anyone to do that. What they do is offer intelligent advice, guidance, and aid for my pets. My oldest cat is 15/16 and we just started her on iv fluids. The change in her character is amazing. My visits to the clinic were expensive (as most are) but I feel that the doctors were thorough and had my dog's best interest in mind until...... I shipped my dog home early, as we will be leaving the island for the mainland soon too. My dog is now staying at my parent's house and my father called because my dog was out of heart worm meds. I called the vet to get authorization for a prescription from a reputable online pet pharmacy. The vet wouldn't do it citing it "can't guarantee the safety of online meds". ...An obvious "keep the money in house" effort. I asked for an exception, as my parents are physically unable to take my 100 lb dog to the vet in Alabama. The response was the same. The receptionist was very professional while navigating my problem and even suggested that the very same "prescription" med can be found for (possibly) cheaper at COSTCO. I'm not upset, and the doc/staff are acceptable. I just don't like the office policy on pet medication and feel others should know before choosing Kailua Animal Clinic for their pet's needs. Because no one calls me back to answer my question on why did the vet that seen us that day want to vaccinate instead of titer. Dog lovers beware for these vets that are vaccinating to make your animals sick and that means overvaccinating as it will have adverse consequences soon after or down towards the RAINBOW BRIDGE. Yeah, my fault for agreeing w/ her that day. I asked for titering and she said, "hows about this, we vaccinate for distemper and parvo and 3 yrs after we revaccinate.I was so srupid for accepting her protocol as I always thought of veterinary care to be about what's best for our furry friends but it's really about getting u in and out asap and depleting their vaccines that are about to expire. I gave 3 days and no reply. I don't know what kind of people they have working there but this is the 3rd time they've messed up on my appt.! 1) I needed to get me cat casturated; they told me the date and I waited a month or so before my cat was seen, then on the day that I took him in they said I didn't have an appt. ! I guess when I took my cat in for the inital check-up spent 5 mintues figuring out what day I could make the appt and when I did the assitant forgot to write down the appt!! Very frustrating, but I let it slide thinking it wouldn't happen again . 2) they told me the wrong time for the appt (I had to reschedule); GOOD THING i CALLED IN ADVANCE THIS TIME to re-check and confirm the appt. ! Otheriwse I would have been showing up on the wrong day...again...and would have to wait another 2 or 3 weeks. I don't think they have done one thing right since I started with them! I am a very patient person but I think it's time to find a new vet clinic.his recent slip-up was the one; I gave them 3 chances. Funny thing is this is my 3rd time DOING BUISNESS with them. 3) I needed my other cat to get neutered and I had to wait 3 months for an appt.! They said it was busy season. They have all my cat paperwork so I wanted to maintain loyalty to this clinic being that their so close to home. I called 2 weeks in advance to confirm my appt. Now I guess the lady told me the wrong date because when I went called in the day I was supposedly 'told' my appt was and apparently it was 2 days earlier than what they told me. I got the ' I don't know what happened' excuse again. I was venting about this to a friend and found out they she had problems with this place too! Don't get me wrong: The people are friendly, they did ok with mY cat (as far as I know) but find yourself another vet. These people have shown no responsibility or even sympathy when they make mistakes. Read Less

Read Less
