Although we have never been to their clinic, they made time for us when we truly needed them. Our beloved lab of 17 yrs had to be put down because he could no longer control his bowel functions or stand w/o pain. The end came w/ dignity for our friend & respect for us who stayed beside him until he passed. I have 2 dogs. One was seen at a different vet and my newest dog was seen here since I moved to Waianae. When I first adopted my newest dog I took him here for his first check up and they were wonderful!! The Nurse was really helpful and the Doctor was as well. My dog needed some parvo shots and of course there was a waiting period before he could get the next one. The receptionist which I don't think is very knowledgeable (I think there are different ones and I'm not sure which is which) told me the latest date instead of the earliest date my dog could get his next shot. This irritated me because my dogs and I practically live at the dog park and constantly having to be careful of where he walks was very tiring. So I called back and the receptionist told me that I could come 2 weeks earlier than the date I was originally told... I was relieved but still annoyed. Why didn't the receptionist tell me the earliest date he could get the next shot instead of the latest the first time!!!-My newest dog just got neutered and he was constantly licking his stitches... so there was puss leaking from it and no matter what I tried he would still lick it. So I was nervous thinking the incision opened up. So I called this vet to try to make an appointment to get him re-stitched and the Nurse told me to send in a pic. I got a reply right away letting me know that there is nothing to worry about. I was so relieved my dog was ok and that they saved me a trip.-Another annoyed situation I had with the receptionist: my oldest dog ran out of his meds so I called the vet and asked even though he was seen by another vet if I could get his meds refilled here. The receptionist said yeah no problem. So when I went to the clinic to pick up the meds the receptionist told me that the vet he went to has to send over his medical records then the doctor has to review them and then I can get the meds. I gave the receptionist my number and she said she would call with the status. 2 days later NOTHING! I called and asked about it and the receptionist did not have a clue what I was talking about... maybe it was a different one. So I told the story all over again and gave her the info and my number. She did get back to me that same day (so it must've been a different receptionist) and told me that the doctor reviewed my dog's records and that he is up to date on his tests but she would still want to see him before prescribing him the meds... or I could go back to his original vet to get the meds... ANNOYED!! I live in Waianae so driving all the way to Honolulu is a HUGE imposition... paying for a vet visit just for the doctor to prescribe meds is less of an imposition but still an imposition nonetheless.I will still go to this vet because I do like the Doctor and the Nurses but that receptionist with long stringy brunette hair could use alot more training. I can't trust anything that comes out of her mouth without confirmation from a Nurse, Doctor... floor plant... anybody else. Read Less

Came here for my pup to get neutered. Pre check up on his blood was required to make sure Marley can handle the anesthesia. Successfully, Marley did and got the results before I even left. They make sure you bring in all documents of vaccinations. If you went somewhere else, they can also get in touch with your other vet and have them sent to them. Very convenient! They also want to make sure if they are micro-chipped so if not, they can add it since your put will be out. I adopted Marley from a friend and they gave me the form to fill out registration to add me as the owner. Once again, they did not have to, but kindly offered. This Pet hospital is in the same shopping center where Chun Wah Kam is located. Fairly decent parking spaces. Hours of operation are currently 830am to 6pm. However, on drop offs for the neuter or spay, your Pet must be checked in between 8am to 830am. Special accommodations for 730am is possible but you must inform them. I looked up this place on Yelp since they are near home and since the VCA does not accept the state dog Neuter certificate. The certificate is better to get in person according to Kapolei Pet Hospital's owner. If you pay online, the mailing process take ages. The owner is very good in responding to messages via Yelp. Another star Β appeal! All employees are helpful and there is a lady employee who is super sweet who made great convo and cleaned up my dog's accident. Marley healed quickly! It took him about 8 days and on the seventh day, I even had to get the cone resized as a walk in with no hassle. That is when they saw that the incision was healing well. They also applied a no-lick rub on his area which give off string bitter taste. Only con was that it smells strong like bitter melon. LOL! Out of pocket fees for pain killer meds, cone of shame, and checks up were $150 more which is pretty low. However, size of pet is also taken into account. Marley is considered small (23 pounds, 9 months old). Office and pet exam rooms are very clean. Staff and vets were very nice to treating Marley well. It was just sad to see him are teary-eyed. I cannot even imagine what pain he went through but now post-neuter, Marley is well and listens much more. He also goes to the restroom more regularly and not mark his territory all over. Read Less

My golden retriever was in a lot of pain the past two days, and I thought she was going to die. I called around to a few vets I knew, and they were all booked. So I called Kapolei Pet Hospital to see if they could see her right away, and they said that I could come in now. The Clinic is very clean, staff was very attentive, I tried to prepare my son for the worse as tears rolled down his eyes, but the Doc took an x-ray and pin pointed the problem. I needed to get her to an emergency hospital that could do her surgery right away with a board certified surgeon. I asked if she thought she could be saved, and she said yes, but that I needed to hurry and go now or she would die.My other dog had the same condition, and I took her to a vet in EWA where they performed her surgery, she made it through the surgery, but didn't make it through the night. I was heart broken. But the Doc at Kapolei Pet Hospital said thats why I needed to go to this other board certified Emergency hospital with the board certified surgeon that could help. Bottom line they saved my dog, we are 72 hours out of surgery and she is already back to normal, and we are happy that we came here. MAHALO! Read Less

I recently brought in my dog for a dental cleaning and tooth extraction. As a worried mom, I was comfortable leaving him there and they were happy to hear from me when I'd call to check up on him. They explained everything that they had to do for the extraction, and sent him home with pain meds and also administered an antibiotic shot. The incisions look great and my pup is healing just fine. I've taken my dog here for that past year now after taking him out from that other pet hospital in Waikele. Here, I don't ever feel ripped off and it feels good everytime we leave. I always get great service over the phone and in person. I asked for a prescription for his heartworm prevention and was given one with no pressure to order from them. That was the best experience. The gal, I forgot her name, but she is from Guam, was the sweetest gal and worked really well with my 94lb Labrottie mix. The doctor is sweet and comforting. They all come down to my dogs level and try to gain his trust. But my dog is smart, knowing he was gonna get poked and violated, he squirmed his big body underneath the chairs my husband and I were sitting on! Haha! Always a great visit. After 16 years, we decided it was time to take our faithful and old pal, Scruffy , in to be euthanized. My children grew up with him and he has been the most awesome dog ever! Needless to say, just the thought of not having him around was so sad, but he was in a lot of pain from multiple tumors. My husband decided to go with Kapolei Pet Hospital and it was the best decision ever. The staff were so incredibly compassionate and professional! Our entire family was there from start to end. They gave us a room, gently started the procedure and gave us as much time as we needed with Scruffy in between injections. The staff came in and made sure Scruffy was comfortable (with a lot of towels) and that we were okay as well. Seriously, they were so patient with us. With our family around him and loving on him, Scruffy had no pain and peacefully drifted off to sleep. They even let us stay as long as we wanted to say goodbye. A few days later, we received a thoughtful handwritten card from the staff, along with hair clippings and a stamp of his paw. We didn't even know they were going to do this! This will be our vet for life. They truly love what they do and love animals! Read Less

I don't normally review places but I felt it was necessary to let everyone know how horrible my experience was at this vet. I will start off by saying that I brought my dog to this place twice and I now take her to the Mililani Mauka Vet, who made mine and my dogs experience a lot better. First, our dog broke her leg and I needed to take her somewhere that was immediately available and cheaper than an emergency vet. I heard that the Kapolei Vet Hospital had a military discount along with a first time visit discount and they were available to see my dog that day, so I went there. When I got there I found out I could only get the first visit discount and not add on the military discount. Then, at my second visit, I realized their military discount was only used for their vet fee and not the whole bill. This doesn't save you anything, it would have been so much more useful if it was applied to our whole bill, considering that it was very expensive. The military discount was only a small disappointment. After I brought my dog in, with her broken leg, they took her out of the room to be sedated, get x-rays, and get a splint. They gave me the option to take her somewhere else for surgery or to splint it for about 8 weeks, we chose to splint it since our dog is so small and surgery would be more risky for her. I later learned, at the Mililani Mauka Vet, that these breaks won't heal, 80% of the time, when only bandaged and surgery would have been recommended. In between my two visits to this vet, the bandage they applied FELL OFF and I had to take my dog to an emergency vet, since they weren't open at the time, so she could be rebandaged. Now, the second visit is where everything went wrong and started raising huge red flags for me. At this visit, my mom came to help with my daughter. We checked in, went into a room, and they immediately took my dog away to be rebandaged. (At both visits they NEVER let me see anything that they did to my dog) They later came into the room and told me my dog was IN PAIN and needed to be sedated. Then, 10 minutes AFTER they were supposed to sedate her, I heard my dog cry out in pain. My mom went to their room to ask if everything was okay, only to be rushed out and told not to go in there. She was very upset with their reaction and was expressing her feelings to me when the man at the front desk, who is actually the owner, comes in only to further argue with my mom. To me, this was the worst costumer service I have ever witnessed! Finally, they bring my dog back in and explained to me what they did for my dog. The woman then tried apologizing for my mom's behavior, and not her own, to which I replied that she could have handled the situation better and more calmly which she replied to with a big "No!" I paid my bill and left. Then, a week after I took my dog home, the bandage came off AGAIN!After this, I decided to go somewhere else so I made an appointment at the Mililani Mauka vet. This vet was amazing! They did everything in the room in front of me and without sedation! They even taught my husband and I how to reapply her bandages in case they fell off. I believe the Kapolei Vet sedated my dog, the second time, for their own convenience or financial gain because our dog did great without having to be sedated the week after. They also gave me no information about her break or anything. They just took her from us, did what they needed to, and gave her back. The other vet treated us like family and gave us information I didn't even know we needed! The only reason why this vet gets two stars, instead of one, is because their office is very clean and I didn't have to wait (probably because of their lack of customers). They treated us like we were an inconvenience, had horrible customer service, didn't give us any important info, and they did a horrible job giving my dog a splint. I will NEVER take my dog back to this vet. Read Less

Horrible experience! First time there with my daughter for her dog to receive a bandage change.Disrespectful, rude and became very defensive of their actions and behavior.First off I'll say, I'm not ok with a business that promotes removing an animal from the visual knowledge of their owner to perform any type of service unless it's surgery, it's not necessary. I found it mildly concerning they thought it was best to take her to the back for a bandage change before any of this played out.Went to check on why my daughters dog that kept crying Β (I literally opened the door and stood there asking if she was ok) only to be rushed at and rudely told I'm not allowed back there. I didn't even step past the doorframe...Then the owner ( who at the time was working the front desk at the office. While he was attacking me he made me aware he was the owner) comes immediately swooping in nearly as fast as the vet did Β once he heard me say I was leaving a review on yelp. I was in aww at how this all played out. He never once apologize on the actions of his worker. She also came back in with defensive behavior to defend her actions. No apology, no calm and proper explanation or approach yet again. I did find their defensive behavior a bit odd.Personally, you don't defend rude behavior, you apologize and explain calmly your reasons, reassure, and answer any concerns your customers might have.Instead it became a one sided argument that held no value to her actions. He was over talking me, dismissed my feelings over it, full of reasons why his worker acted like that, and completely unprofessional.I recently found out after this, that its his wife who's the vet and the one who charged at me. He also trolls the Schofield pet page for customers or comments on posts, so does anyone that works for him or has relations with him. The entire way this all played out was the most disrespectful, unprofessional, rude, overbearing, disregarded, and defensive behavior I've ever experienced. I've fostered many animals, raised a few of my own, so my experience with veterinary clinics from many, many, different states are not far and few between.I've never been charged at either. It was the most uncomfortable experience where I was put in a situation of having to defend myself. Unacceptable This business has me concerned for the animals welfare and safety too. They came out saying my daughter dogs broken arm was still broken after 7-8wks of healing time. Strange that it wouldn't have healed in the least bit. I do hope her crying in the back where they wouldn't allow us to go holds no barring on that. We'll never know.Whatever you do, demand your animal receive any and all treatment in front of you, Β of course unless it's surgery.Good luck Read Less

I would drive to town to take my puppy to the vet because that's where her breeders got her first shots. I was looking for a place closer to home and saw the Kapolei Pet Hospital on Yelp, I quickly inquired and got an appointment right away for my puppy's second shots. I had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Yoko. She was great with my pup and I felt really comfortable with her. We were seen right away. When I was in town, I felt like just a number being called and nothing was explained to me with the shots they were giving her. But Dr. Yoko explained every shot and what it was for.Recently I took my puppy to get spayed. I was really nervous because I didn't know how it was going to be since I had to leave her there all day. After the procedure was finished they called me to let me know that she was done and that she is recovering and resting now. I felt so relieved. It was nice of them to do that. I picked up my puppy in the afternoon and she just rested the rest of the day. The next day, she wanted to play already. WOW! That was fast. Thank you Dr. Yoko and staff for your great service. Dr. Yoko quickly helped heal our little girl when she was suffering. We brought our tiny Chihuahua in with a severe medical condition. The doctor ran tests to quickly determine the problem and then gave excellent instructions for home care because she knew our dog would heal faster in a familiar environment. Our little Kangaroo got easy-to-administer meds, tube food, and lots of healing vibes from the friendly staff. I am happy to report that Kanga (in less than 2 weeks) is fully recovered thanks to everyone at Kapolei Pet Hospital. They are simply THE BEST! Read Less

MAHALO! Read Less

I believe this is the best veterinary hospital on the Leeward side. Prices are reasonable, clean facility, friendly caring staff and brilliant Doctor! She prescribed the proper medicine for my kitty who had suffered for more than 6 yrs with symptoms of feline eye herpes. Dr Yoko is very attentive to both my dogs and answers all questions..she is willing to call in prescriptions to pharmacies that offer pet medication. So very thankful to have found her!!!!! Read Less

The staff and Dr. Yoko has been extremely compassionate and caring for my senior cat. She was the first doctor to clean my cat's ears in front of me (unlike my last vet who did such a harsh cleaning behind closed doors that my cat could not walk straight for a day.) This office always makes time to see my sick cat no matter how booked they are and never push products on me (like toothpaste or what have you.) Thorough, fair prices and compassionate. What more could you ask for in a vet? Read Less

I would drive to town to take my puppy to the vet because that's where her breeders got her first shots. I was looking for a place closer to home and saw the Kapolei Pet Hospital on Yelp, I quickly inquired and got an appointment right away for my puppy's second shots. They had Saturday appointments available which is great because I work during the week. When I first walk in, the place is nice and clean and the staff was very welcoming. I love receiving those calls after my puppies appointments to check to see how she is doing. I feel like family here! Read Less

Read Less
